I have Cubase Pro 9 and have not been able to get VST Connect and VST Performer to work. And I'm trying to do it with a long time Cubase user and professional producer. He runs the Connect session and I am on Performer. Can you track remotely as promised? Would love to get it working. We went back to Drop Box.

While I agree Avid can get pricey, the truth is all top-notch gear/software is pricey. For 10 projects, and 60 gigs of cloud space, you pay about $25 per month, which again, isn't change. But if you use PT for work, or you have a project studio, it is a small price to pay to be able to work in this manner. This workflow innovation will allow your average small studio or home recording enthusiast to work collaboratively in essentially real time, while chatting. I've been using this for about a week now and I can tell you it's changed the way I think of PT and working in general (I do a lot of ad spots, commercial sounds scape stuff). Not to mention in 72 hours I'd met numerous people in the Avid Colab forum and began immediately working with several, from England, Ireland, Brazil, etc., all from the comfort of my studio desk. We've even started brain storming sessions live, where one person comes up with a theme for fun, or for something $$$ related, and the three of us just throw out ideas in real time, it's almost bizarre. I know there will be issues, and cost is one of them, but compared to what I pay every month for a cell phone I often despise, it's worth the $25 a month, at least it is to me. Just my two cents. Hats off to Avid on this one.

As an amateur, can I find people who, for example, would be willing to contribute a bass track to a project? Not people I know, but search for bass players and email them?

Sadly no, but If you ever need bass, I'm available for sessions/writing. B)

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
Im using windows 7 with Pro Tools First.
Every time i try to save a project it says "some tracks have not been uploaded to the cloud"??? I read somewhere that it might have something to do with my windows firewall settings??

Dang you must be really confident in your drumming to have an ipad right there! I'd be smashing it by accident pretty quick I think

Still on Protools 10 and probably stay there. It just gets to expensive to keep up with Avid. They charge way to much and your always having to pay. Just not worth it

This workflow will be coming to Pro Tools First. Maybe worth trying that out when it's available - DAN

What they don't show is that any hifi project will eat up your free 1 GB of data instantly. So you're forced again to pay avid for cloud storage. Also, many bugs, Pro Tools constantly crashes while inside a "project" and uploading/downloading. Lastly, you can't chose what gets uploaded to the cloud. As soon as you save a session as a project, EVERYTHING gets uploaded to the cloud. You can't for example make a 2 channel bounce and send that to your bassist to collaborate. You'd have to create a new session or project with just that 2 channel bounce and remove all non-used clips. Very inefficient if you stay within the 1 GB of free cloud. It's a great idea and hopefully it gets developed further. None of the pros I know use this as of right now though.
