Some background info on this dance. It’s a “bantu” dance from central Africa- originating in kingdom of Kongo (Congo)& kingdom of Ndongo (Angola), during slavery, ppl from those places was placed in Virginia, South Carolina & New Orleans. The Congo/Angola group in New Orleans would gather at “Congo square” and do this dance. Bk then it was called the Congo grind. This is why in music videos ppl wore “bantu knots, while doing this dance” Now it’s renamed Twerking.
