Glenn doesn't scream at you.
He just talks like there's music playing in the background.
🤣Yes When you talk to Glen it´s allways like a meeting in a concert😂 I only met him once - by coincidense, he wasn´t that famous. He allways has a lot to tell and he has allways the eager to spreat good emotions when he feels right! He is a great guy to have around, and he is a honist person!
It was nice of Glenn to have Ola on his show
His devotion of giving real advice, that you don't need 6 trillion dollars to record and play quality music is very admirable.
Not everyone is KoRn who spent $4 million dollars to make Untouchables album...
Agreed!! There is a ton of stuff that is tricky in the music business right now and really economy. But you can do some killer stuff with a small budget and some building skills to treat a room.
Glenn’s next video “Shit tastes as good as steak when you send it through my recording console”. I actually can’t stand his comparison videos, when I have the same 2 things he’s comparing and they sound completely different.
I clicked in notification bell and read COFFE WITH GLEN BENTON.
Sorry to Dissapoint!

Damn, Ola's swear button catching on fire with Glenn on the set 🔥
This "Coffee with" episode has the record for the most F bombs and I'm all here for it!!!!!
The poor guy who had to edit all those f-bombs out 😂 Absolutely love Glenn's channel, learned so much from his videos when it comes to recording.
Love the community being built by musicians for musicians
Ya man, we just want everyone to makes those metal bangers, ive been playing and going to shows for 20+ years, the amount of filler bands have always needed to step it up a notch.
And ola and these other guys supply all the resources to become that filler band with some extra flare.
We always need another sick ass band to binge, the itch that never can be scratched😂😂😂
@waynebeck6517 I'm pretty sure the missing ingredients are trauma and hardship. Too many new bands just don't come from the same harsh place from back in the day.
I love how honest both of you are. Just real dudes living their passion. That's why so many people feel that you are their buddies even if we nether met!
You know it's gonna be a good Friday when Ola drops a video with Glenn Fricker
Glenn has helped me tremendously. I'm grateful for all the knowledge he's imparted. 🤘
2:20 Glenn is getting old, he trusted a bass player.
That’s how we get you.
Bro, BASS IS LIF!!!
@@dorssberube bass... right bass player no
I know it a meme but bass players can be super awesome in person and in the mix.
Talk about karma coming back to bite ya in the **ss. Maybe it's a sign to chill with the bass player bashing.
you should invite lambchopper 678 i think to an interview. that man has a gift with tones.
Thumbs up for the Sneap Forum discussion! I was on there around 2008 - 2013 or so. It's been awesome seeing a bunch of you guys do really well in other endeavors. I've also wondered whether the "ball claps" sample wound up on any recordings I've heard.
Love Glenn Fricker,he is so passionate about what he does...and his swearing is so funny ,,just doesnt hold back.
Unlike everyone else that's ever done anything and is from WINDSOR, ONTARIO, Glenn, THANK YOU for not pretending you are from Toronto. They know who they are.

When I chose an amp for learning to play guitar. I chose a orange micro dark and a revv northern mauler by Glen. It was great first choices. Thanks you both helped with choosing my first gear purchases.
They are as excited as two best mates who haven't seen each other in 10 years.
After being lucky enough to own some of my dream amps so far (a 5150, a recto, a Rockerverb, an EVH) and using them through the same cab (trusty closed back Orange 2x12) and same overdrives, I've also come to the conclusion many of these amps can sound similar or you can get them to sound the same. Not to say that's a bad thing, they aren't bad sounds by any means. They sound massive and incredible. But when you put them through a mic or IR or have them blasting beside a drummer, those individual differences don't seem to matter in the big picture.
With that said, I'm still totally buying a good amp on a good deal when they pop up lmao
What made me figure this out was the interview with Wayne Static, where he said his rig was just a Marshall MG series head and a 1960 cab. Everything he used was affordable, and Static X sounds great.
The crossover we didn’t know we needed
Andy Sneap forum was such a gold mine for me as a young metal musician. Everyone was so cool there sharing knowledge and there's no way I would have learned the home recording skills I had back then without it. .....I still have that ballslap sample too hahaha
Glenn dropping some great advice here! This episode is a real meeting of the minds. Very cool and super inspiring guys!
two of the TH-camrs who helped me the most when I picked up the guitar 2 years ago (on the technical aspect of equipment and economics) thank you
I really miss the Sneap forum back in those days. Was a great place to hang out and learn a LOT thanks to these guys, and a few other legends.
Ola and Glenn..........mad respect for your talents and finding your muse!
I love Glenn and Ola. I’m so proud of them for coming out as a metal couple over coffee :) Turbo lovers run for cover!
I absolutely admire Glenn's content because of his rare honesty, which is truly refreshing.
You sound like a Trump supporter.
People like authenticity. Regardless of whether you always like the person, you at least you get they are real. I think Limelight sums it all up.
@@onyx666. What was the point of bringing politics into this. Glenn is Canadian anyway
Yep, guitar players believe too much in BS snake oil fud. That soldano vs valve king video was the turning point for me. Its all about the speakers.
@@onyx666. quit trying to drag politics into this ffs
I must say I really loved this interview!! I really appreciate the honestly of GLENN FRICKER and there is so so MUCH bs/gate keeping in the music biz. Which is why it is nice to see him cut through it
Oh hell yeah! Two of my favorite dudes on TH-cam talking.
2 minutes in and I realize....I'm smiling. Loving the content.
my two favorite guys right here.Good stuff fellas.... you've helped me lots.Thankyou, you are awsome
Picked up Hesu Demons for a 4x12 Cab I'm building not long ago. While working on getting the 4x12 done I put one of the Hesu speakers into a 2x12 I built combined with a Celestion Creamback Neo to test them out. Using a Peavey 6505+ 112 (I converted to a head) through the 2x12 all I can say is I am very much in love with the Hesu Demon speakers. They are amazing with the Creamback Neo's and by themselves. Can't wait to get my 4x12 finished and have them cranked. Thanks Glen and Ola for always giving us a leg up in finding our sound.
Nice. I also converted one of those Peavey’s to a head about 7-8 years ago. Not the cleanest job but it looks great from a few feet away! Haha
@@allstopblue5717 lol that's all that counts. That's the same with mine. Going to try and rebuild the front face I made at some point this winter.
Ticketmaster and LiveNation killed the local live music scene, worldwide
Two of my favorites. Thanks Ola!
I got my first ever legit cabinet recently (Mesa 4x12 w/V30's and C90's) and I'm so excited to have it so I can now venture into buying heads to try out and run through it. I started with the Code 100H half stack then bought a Mesa Stiletto head from a friend of mine. The sound of the Stiletto through the Mesa cab is crazy good compared to the cheaper Marshall cabinet. I will say this though: that code 100H half stack is legit for pretty much any player if you want a one and done setup and not have to worry about having pedals. It's a lot of fun to play through. It's plenty loud, the effects are good, and the tone is good. I've mic'd it through my PA system and it's a great time. But, of course, it's a lot of fun to play through a real deal like a Mesa head and cabinet combo.
I was on that forum with all those guys years ago...among other forums with Andy James and Misha.
Glenns video "stop holding yourself back" about recording without huge budget was mindblowing to me. I have great gear and made some great recordings with it. Thank you so much Glenn you're the best
"Have you seen Brokeback Mountain??"....bahahahaha I was dying thats too funny
This is what I've been waiting for for a long time!

Thank you Ola, I watch both of your channels. I'm debating on selling my Schecter or my G&L to get one of your Solar Guitars. Good Luck with the new Haunted album and I will be getting some of your solo work as well. I loved the little snippets of the music you've made available. The sound textures are great. From the middle of the Desert.,. New Mexico.,. USA. Keep up the good work and CHUG.!!!!!

First lets recover from this bombastic Episode!
Guys, GUYS - following your enthusiasm of the HESU cabs, I just ordered and got my HESU Studio S212 Standard Cab BK from Thomann. Good Lord, this thing rocks. BIG TIME. Thx for this, I am so happy - my search for a 2nd guitar cab is finally over.
Good to hear about the amp not holding you back. My son plays my older Marshall Mg50DFX and he couldn't get a more perfect MCR sound if he tried. Has it setup beautifully which makes him play more.
Remember, Static X used MG100s to create their greatest hits.
The crossover we all wanted
A Fu... counter would have been nice to be added in the post production 😂😂😂
That was a great one. Glenn on CWO 👍
Great video and interview!
That Stevie T comment has my jaw on the floor. I can't believe he doesn't have amps!
I think Steve has 2 small amps, which one of it is NUX lite and that's it. He does everything via Scarlett and amp sims. Tbh a lot more comfortable imo. Myself I have one small amp and I don't even use it that much, I play guitar via audio interface and DAW and so far it's enough. Glenn is really cool tho for telling truth about the gear and always being honest about that that high price not always means best :D
Nita Strauss even doesn't use a proper amp anymore when she's touring with Alice Cooper, she just plugs her multi-effects unit into the venue's P.A. system and gets the job done.
@@greekfreak1980 That's very common these days. Kiko was using a Quad Cortex on his last Megadeth tour, for example. That doesn't mean Nita (or Kiko for that matter) doesn't own an amp or have experience playing through one. I was shocked that Stevie T doesn't even have one.
Plini has also stated that he started with plugins. Just a different way.
@@greekfreak1980that is very common. Dave Murray from Iron Maiden uses Axe FX live. He still runs it into Marshall poweramps for the onstage sound, but the PA is just the direct signal from the modeller.
Met Glen at Summer NAMM 2018 in Nashville. Genuinely a really great guy, being from a similar neck of the woods as he is. This was an awesome conversation between you and Glenn, Ola! One of my favourites! \m/
The old Andy Sneap forum times :) Great memories!
@@tonehammer7276 so good!
I’ve been watching Glenn for a few years now, plus submitting songs to Mix Reviews for probably just as long. I think his channel is fantastic, and I dig that he gets under so many people’s skin. I believe he loves doing this, and is genuinely trying to do a service for the new generation coming up. I appreciate Glenn and Ola. This was a nice side of Glenn to see.
😂 I got a shout out on here by Glenn Fricker!! He’s talking about me!! Cheers Glenn
Great video. I still have my Ultimate Metal Forum account from 2012. Fun times learning about impulse responses and collecting drum samples.
Extremely informative conversation. I love how you guys are always evidence-based as opposed as many biased guys with the opinion of the week.
The two personalities that watch on TH-cam religiously. I get so much knowledge, entertainment, and enthusiasm from, you (Ola), and Glenn.
I think a future CWO should be with Jorn Viggo Lofstad of Pagan's Mind. He's really an umsung hero in the prog-metal world.
Should ask glen about his stunning and brave views on the lockdown and complying with the machine like the true rebel he is.
Coffee with Adam D. I'm still scratching my head how this hasnt happened yet. That would make for a glorious episode.
Who's Adam D.?
@@mrcoatsworth429 The guitarist for Killswitch Engage.
@@Almostalwaysart lmao I saw these guys live 6 times this month.
He played such a pinnacle part in metal during the early 2000s. He produced some iconic albums on top of playing in KSE. He's entertaining as hell in interviews too which would be perfect with Ola. I love both of these guys.
That “Bad News” T-shirt is frikkkkinnnn raaaadddd, man 🤙🏻🤘🏻
“Look Vim, it’s a Marshall”
😂😂
Absolutely! ...heay mister bass man
I can imagine Ola with rivers of sweat running down his face and his finger trembling on the -thppp- button for every time Glen cussed.
Dude, I just love these Coffee with Ola shows - always nice to see and listen to experienced people talking about what actually works. And Glenn is such a calm, relaxed person - like a newly shaken bottle of Champagne. 😜 Really great episode. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
EDIT: 2006-2009 or so is what I call the "hardcore heyday." there were like 7-8 venues in my area doing shows every weekend, I saw both Animals as Leaders, Bring me The Horizon, & The Devil Wears Prada at local venues, both before they got huge, along with a ton of others that were already huge touring bands, it was insane. Now- That 'don't assume your amp is holding you back" is assuming a LOT haha. How about the kids going through tiny spiders and fender modeling amps meant for beginners, could you make a pro record with those? P.s. this is why I tell all my students to either get a modeling pedalboard like a pod go or something that's the same price as those "cheap" amps, they just need a speaker to put them through. And if they already own a computer (which is only 3 out of 23 current students) I tell them to get an interface and free amp sims liek the ones Glenn recommends. But a LOT of kids are stuck in that rut because their parents were sold on some cheap fender practice amp that has a bad clean tone and minimal, VERY harsh sounding overdrive that you can only control by pushing a little white button. I have several students using these (or for bass, fender rumbles, which sound like 50's amps because they essentially are) just because that's what their parents got them. I'd say for a lot of them, the advanced ones and fast learners, that their amps are for SURE holding them back lol. just a bit of my real world experience being a full time guitar teacher, for the last 15 years.
I don't know. I couldn't really afford an amp for my first 3 years, and that didn't hold me back at all. Then again, that advice was probably meant for the guys that can afford gear and use it as an excuse.
Glenn is awesome. I have saved so much money because of him and i drive the engineers at the studios nuts because I now go in and tell them how I will be recording my guitars instead of letting them set me up the way they set up everyone else.
Don’t be that guy
@@moonelfcosmo I'll consider being more democratic about it. 😝
Glenn final line is priceless!
This means Glenn needs to put a guitar backup in all of his videos so crybabies won't get upset.

Oh man, I remember the days of Misha posting as Bulb in the Petrucci forums back when Casey was Periphery's vocalist (pre album days). Good times.
Glenn was my salvation when I was getting more and more into gear comparisons and trying to understand how a tube amp sounded. Nowadays I still don't have a tube amp (played through some good ones, though), but I can dial my sound way better and got a nice 2x12 with good speakers. These two are legends 🤘
I love Glenn he's a great guy.

Sneap Formum! I got in there around 04/05. Such a great place. I learned so much from so many great people. Glenn's Clayman thread and Ermin's thread that eventually became his book are things that I still reference. It's always great to see so many guys I used to BS with online at 3am doing great for themselves these days (Ola, Keith, Glenn, Ermin, Nolly, Joey, etc).
Love Glenn’s enthusiasm about music and willingness to share his knowledge
I like how Glenn is Glenn. I'm going to sub to his channel now. Think it may help with getting a cheap (but decent) recording rig going in the future. Thank you Ola, for this Coffee.
Man!!! Where can I get that Chug t-shirt. Both T's u guys are wearing a epic!
That was a cool interview. I like your work and I like Glenn's work. I may not always agree with some of his views, but you can not avoid his directness and leaning hard on the facts. And those facts will save you money. Also, a nice touch syncing up on his claps for the video editing
Great segment. I watch both your channels. Thanks for doing a show together!
Nice words👍 when its a dream to get an amp with awesome sound , even when the ampm is expensive and a guy gets the posibility to get it, why not? .... its an awesome feeling to get it and to play with... my opinion it is not ok some youtubers tell the good things about some devices that are not true, cause they payed for... there is enought good cheap equipment out there, but is it nessesery to check it in real condition. Keep on rock'in ✌

Would love to see your studio build process Glenn. Great episode Ola :D
Great one. Glen is a nice fellow canadian, glad you could have him on for this segment of your series Ola !! :)

Great chat guys. Loved this Ola ! 🇨🇦
That was fun! Glenn knows what's up.
That was pretty cool Glenn's is a really nice guy. He comes across pushy and now I know why It's the whole auto worker mentality which I can understand I'm a drywaller. But his knowledge is changing the game. Speaker cabinets really do make the most difference. And you can't put a price on real world knowledge for application. You guys are two of the originators of this whole subgenre two metal guitar and recording. You guys ought to do a collaboration on an album at some point. Great video as always Thanks ola....
I soo related to the part about never having played through an amp. I started on a Line 6 UX2, moved onto an audio interface and various plugins. Wasn't until like 2018 (started playing in 2004) that I bought a Laney Blackheart and a Yerasov Bulldozer 100(!!)w amp. Found them much too loud xD
