Unless you are a non profit organization, profitability is the ultimate goal Ashwini. A good HR department is strategic to reach that goal and to keep doing it in the future!

H.R. is the smiling optimistic face of the legal department. (If you wouldn't say it to the Corporate Lawyers, don't say it to them).

There's no doubt that the economy is in a tough spot, but I believe that businesses can still thrive and create jobs if they take proactive measures.

If workers hate the "boss" they will end up hating their jobs leading to poor productivity. And this is not good for both the organization and the workers.

Credibility of the video is very questionable. Naturally all HR Managers will present their version of what they think is "best practice" but it is a very biased perspective. Take Mattel for example. The claim made is that culture "trickles down" to the frontline staff. Yet this is the same company fined for lead paint in their toys (2009) and for tracking children who interacted with their company online (2016). Not exactly what you could call "best practice", is it? The idea that culture trickles down in an organisation is a fallacy and clearly in the case of Mattel their actual unethical and unlawful behaviour demonstrates that. There area a lot of Managers that are so narcissistic, they believe their own BS. Critical thinking among HR professionals is also frequently in very short supply. The sooner HR is totally abandoned by organisations and people are treated with the respect and dignity they are entitled to, the sooner a company will change their fundamental culture. We will also have much happier workplaces and more prosperous communities that support them.
