BMW & Mini UK invited me down to try a few of their latest models, I couldn't turn down the chance to try this Mini Cooper S Works 210, every journalist that walked away from it did so with massive grins, now I understand why :-) For the money, this Mini is a brilliant little car, well done guys!
Joe Achilles It seems BMW UK are recognising you now for the honest passionate advertising you are doing for them and the resultant sales. My M140i was bought without test drive and your videos played a large part in the decision making before even setting foot in the dealership. I couldn't be happier with the car and what an understated sleeper it is for the money.
I have had one of these as my daily drive for over a year. They really are fun cars for the money. I came from an M135i, and although clearly not as fast, it’s more fun when you want to drive the car hard on the road and not be doing silly speeds. The JCW Pro exhaust is just hilarious, like a Group B rally car from the early eighties.
Im selling my M135 too its defo a contender as I need to down size but still have something fun for me to drive its either the Audi S1 or this. Question how would you rate the brakes and how loud it is compared to the M135i?
Do you still enjoy the JCW? Considering M2, M140i and the JCW. Coming from a 4-series BMW, I want something a bit smaller and even more fun. Afraid I'll miss the RWD though..
Hey Joe. I have a full fat F56 JCW with a Schnitzer engine tune and suspension, with none run flat tyres. Get in contact if you want to review mine. It’s a lot of fun!
The Mini is such good fun, just a shame that it can get properly pricey once you add options on. Mind you, I would easily pick that over the Abarth 595. The Abarth is good fun, don't get me wrong, but the Mini is a nice placer to sit, feels better put together and it's better to drive.
buildmorefarms100 That is true, but the Mini has a better interior and probably more equipment, although it can get very pricey if you go mad with options. Both the Abarth and the Mini are great fun, but they are both too pricey for me.
I used to be very anti front wheel drive - but the torque steer, wheelspin and under steer, can make them a flipping riot day to day, and arguably more fun than the sometimes too planted rear wheel drive cars ...
Everyone is down on the future of the 1 Series with impending FWD etc. However this shows it doesn’t have to be boring. Well done Mini. (Out of interest, I preferred the sound of the Mini to that M240.)
Hi Joe, I had the pleasure of driving one last Thursday my local BMW dealer gave it to me as a load car for the day. What a little machine they are & yes they do under steer & spin the fronts up very easy, quite tame up to 3k but after that what joy to drive. Keep up the vids pal.
Cracking review as always Joe. Can't beat that JCW exhaust. I have the exact same one on my Cooper S 🔥👌🏼 The works 210 is basically my car with the JCW bits on it (bodykit, exhaust, decals etc) lovely spec of car though 👍🏼👍🏼
I have one of these and it is just the best fun I've ever had in a car. I know what you mean about the understeer because I have the same issue. My car currently has the original tyres on it which are pirelli cinturato p7 which are runflats which I think brings it's own problems too. But they also require some heat in to make them work and are just useless on wet or damp roads. I am thinking of buying 4 new tyres (cause you can't mix runflats and none runflats apparently.) And going for some Pilot Super Sports which are a much grippier and softer tyre. Which hopefully will solve the understeer issue. I want to get it remapped too cause they tune very well indeed and it would give a lot of much more powerful cars a run for their money I think too.
Hi Alex and Joe, I have a 2016 cooper sd and that also suffered from understeer on the original tyres, which were Dunlops sports. I was disappointed as I'd had an R56 S petrol before which was so much fun. The fix I found was to fit Bridgestone Potenza RE050's with the W speed rating. Those were the tyres that my R56 used to such great affect and they totally fixed the oversteer on my F56 SD. Hope someone finds this useful. Clive
Achilles was the greatest Greek worrior that fought in the trojan war. So just remember that when you are competing in bike races. How well did you fit in the mini as it built by bmw is there any bmw characteristics?
Great video. My favourite Mini of all time is the GP2 although it's flawed with no back seats etc. But maybe I'll have to have a cheeky look 👍🏽. Good Job!!
So Joe, you can either have the JCW Mini or the BMW M140i on the market currently at very similar money in fact probably pick up the M140i cheaper. So what is your choice ,as if I need to ask.
keith morris this was my problem. I chose the mini. Cheaper insurance for a 21 year old and also it just put a smile on my face. Oh yea and it was a two week wait as opposed to a 3 month wait for the 140 but that was circumstantial
Loved it mate such a pocket rocket the sound pops and bangs every review i see even just the copper s makes people smile dam it now i want one so bad... have you driven a automatic copper s ?
Always been partial to the Mini. Preferred the R56 2nd generation (2006-13). The newer ones are too boxy for my tastes but still make a quality product.
Hey joe if you can be bothered coming to Scotland, I have a f56 jcw, it’s running bc coilovers, pro tune exhaust, and a race chip tune (292hp 306ft lbs) super sports all round next month as well, way better than original jcw
Great video as always Joe. I drove the Cooper S before and I loved it, great fun to drive. Currently, I own M135i LCI and I'm a bit tempted about swapping it for JCW. Would you say it's a big downgrade? What I found about M135i is it's a brilliant car but as soon as you start pushing, you break every speed limit in the UK and I don't find it to be that exciting. I'm after something more fun and engaging. Maybe my problem is that I picked up an auto instead of a manual?
@@yashmann nope. Recently parted my way with an e92 coupe in manual. If you have the funds go for one because they are definitely worth it and if you look after it, it will be an appreciating asset.
@@Michalux123 yes do love the e92 but sadly I've just turned 20 and cannot afford to insure anything apart form my mini cooper sd but wanted to get a jcw in the next couple of years, previously wanted a e92 coupe LCI but obviously insurance is a scam at my age. Lovely to hear you bought a e92, thanks for responding, take care.
I swapped my M135i LCI for a 210 s works a few months ago. More fun without the potential of loosing your license (ish), plus massive savings on running costs, insurance and the initial cost of the car. Planning to swap the tyres and fit the JCW brake kit, i find the standard brakes don’t match the power of the engine
Im selling my M135 too its defo a contender as I need to down size but still have something fun for me to drive its either the Audi S1 or this. Question how would you rate the brakes and how loud it is compared to the M135i?
London Cars and Games the brakes aren’t the best if I’m honest, they are ok for general road use but nothing compared to the brembo’s on the M135i. As for the sound out of the mini, it’s a lot louder than the BM, it’s on a similar level as a rally car 😂
My wife can absolutely not understand my love for my MINI and how I just can not resist blasting in and out of curves at blazing speeds. LOL! I seriously sometimes just look at my car while it's sitting in the driveway and can't resist just grabbing the keys and taking it for a spin. I live in the country and there are huge curves here and it's basically heaven for a MINI. The cars just beg you to drive them and I have had MINI's for years and I still look forward to driving it every single time I get in it. I can't think of a single car that could do that to me because I'm, ironically, very much NOT a "car guy". I'm certainly a MINIAC though. LOL!

The interior is part of the charm to me. I actually loved the old school way of having the speedometer in the middle and all the toggle switches in the middle more than the current gen of having a display that's big and round and the speedometer above the steering wheel. The little quirks in MINI's are sorta part of the fun for me. When I upgraded I was really disappointed that they had changed some of that and the dealer said I was in the minority on that quibble but there were other passionate MINIACS that didn't like it as well. I can see how it would irritate people but for me it was just kinda cool.
I really don’t enjoy the pops and crackles. I’m currently awaiting a Mini Cooper S, not a JCW. My car should have been ready for me on March 2nd but due to a mistake at the dealers, the wrong car arrived there and so I’m now waiting for MY car to be built.
I've caught some flack for my MINI as well I've always felt like MINI is a really macho car in a way because it basically says "I don't give a crap what you think about me..." or something. I can definitely see how people think they're kinda "girly" I guess but man they are actually very fun and the irony is my wife hates mine because she's afraid I'm gonna get killed or kill her in it. LOL!
They are pushing that 3 and 4 door crap HARD at the dealers. I was like "THEY AREN'T MINNNNNI Coopers! They are so big they are more like MAJOR Coopers and who wants that in a MINI???!!!" I definitely don't like the newer, longer, body styles as much. My 2014 still drives like a dream but my 2008 S model definitely was a little tighter and quicker I think. I still have a ton of fun in my 6 speed manual but I'd love for them to make like a "classic" line or something for people that have been fans for a while and don't want the longer bodies.
