ALL MINI'S are fun but I know the JCW would be the pinnacle. I love my MINI but I really want to own a JCW someday. There's just nothing like owning a MINI. I literally sometimes just look at my car and think "yep I'm gonna take you for a joy ride right now". Where I live there are tons of curves and it's just pure MINI country. Taking a curve going over 60 is just awesome.
I am the proud owner of a 2017 Mini JCW. It is the most fun car you can own for the money! The speed and acceleration that this little pocket rocket produces still blows my mind. It looks hot and is hot!
On top of performance, Mini is way classier than Golf, Fiesta or Ford ST, TypeR or etc. They certainly don't target their car to people who love Honda Civic or GTi.
I have an 06 as well. i actually was tracking my 2012 audi ttrs last week and had a new jcw with bolt ons was on my ass for a few laps. now I'm interested in the new ones too. It was legitimately fast. My audi made over 400whp and i wasn't much quicker than him on the straights.
I never really gave Mini a 2nd thought. In my mind they were just some cutesy little gimmicky car that was owned my girls and old people. Well, I got the chance to drive a 2005 Mini Cooper S a few months ago... Now I happen to own one. A 2003 Cooper S lol.
The same happened to me. I never even thought about owning a Mini, ever. Then I got into my friends 06 Mini Cooper S. I bought one like 2 months later. It's such a fun car. Now modded as well 😎
I traded in my R56 Cooper S for a MK6 GTI... but I miss the MINI. The GTI is fantastic, and certainly a better daily driver. But it's nowhere near as fun as the MINI. Not even close. Granted I had the R56 tuned to 220 hp with Bilstein suspension etc... However, the GTI is a much easier car to live with on a daily basis. The MINI never calmed down, like a puppy straining on a leash, always begging you to do crazy stunts in traffic. A blessing and a curse.
I completely understand that, I still prefer the mini, and yes, the R56 rode pretty hard, but the newer f10 is just as sporty and has a suspension that feels really similar to the gti and better in my opinion if you opt for the magnetic adjustable shocks
I've had my 2015 JCW (with the pro exhaust and carbon tips, of course) for nearly 4 years now and it still makes me grin like an idiot whenever I drive it. I thought my old MINI was great, but this latest generation just blows it out the water
Throttle House .... Great review , sir I enjoyed your video...... though I watched it for first time, I always watch the straight pipes and I enjoyed their reviews ....., You all have a charming personality.........😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

Started watching your reviews only recently and you are my favorite reviewer now..Mini is so much fun to drive - and you are right, it turns the corner like a little bumper cart..It is actually more fun to drive than a BMW 3 series (I have owned both). It does become a little tiring on highways/long drives with all that drone though..as someone said - like a little puppy forever straining on the leash :-)
Being a bmw tech and owner of a 2020 cooper s I completely agree as far as bmw's the m2 is the only bmw that comes close how fun these cars are to drive.
The remus valvetronic race exhaust is 1500 w/ Carbon tips and is louder as it removes the resonator and the 2nd cat. Got it on mine and it’s a dream 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Kyle Jarmolych the JCW pro exhaust doesn’t have the resonator, if it had one it wouldn’t sound the way it does when the flap is open, the only resonator is the flap,
I actually like the JCW's manual with rev match more the manual transmission on BMWs. The price makes Golf R a great bargain but the characteristic form a MINI is so intoxicating.
I have a 2017 Mini JCW with the same JCW Pro Exhaust system (except the carbon fiber tips, which I now want badly). Its awesome but the popcorn effect lasts way too long for my taste. Still, its a fun gadget to play around with when u get to a fun road and some tunnels!. Btw, how did u manage to get the recorded outside audio so crisp? Im struggeling to record mine. I welcome any tips :)
I am from india but still watch starightpipe reviews, youtube automatically recommended me throttle house. I like your reviews but i like staraightpipe more over this particular one. :))
I own a 2003 Mini Cooper S JCW. And I will never sell that car. It's even more mechanical, analog and raw feeling when driving and it makes it more fun. And I even tuned it to be even more go-cart feeling. I own two more cars and I might even buy newer JCW but I'll never sell my R53. Now I see prices in US range from 13k to 20k, I am lucky I am from Europe.
Ive owned a 2017 JCW Manual for 3 years. Virtually trouble free and the minor issue I had was handled during scheduled maintenance. I’m planning on buying a 2021 manual as I think it will be one of the last times I can get a manual Mini. Kind of sad.
Awesome vid. Glad you emphasised the true spirit of the car. I had a Fiesta ST and it had nowhere near the fun factor of the JCW. The JCW is twice the price but there aren't many punchy cars that give an adrenaline rush like the JCW and still return 6L/100km. Every commute is a blast. I've only had manual cars in the past but the JCW auto gearbox, paddle shifter and the choice of 3 drive modes covers virtually all your needs. I would rather have an auto JCW than have to worry about replacing the clutch one day - the auto protects the car from the driver destroying it.
I would say this has much more “fun” factor. But the Golf R is more refined and comfortable. I found the Golf R dull on the track but awesome on the street. The mini is the more playful of the two.
Sorry but if you have drove the r53 or r56 you guys should. I plan on getting the f56 but was told by other owners it doesn't have the same handling and thrills the R56 has
So, better than a WRX, but at STi money? Very interesting car, and I would have considered one, but the closest MINI dealer is 60 miles away. However, in the future, I will consider one after my WRX is done, which could be well into the electric car revolution 😞
...because it doesn't get the same attention as the CTR. One car is about life, the other is a lifestyle...both have plusses and minuses, but you can't look at them (each car) the same. Ultimate fun vs ultimate performance. 🏁
Got a 2007 copper S convertible, last of the superchargers, great car. Dont mind all the hairdresser comments from the lads because the grin on my face when I drive it, always gets comments and stares when I go out in it. Getting 2017 jcw in December and can't wait.
Scott Robertson driven yes, owned no. Got 4 minis. Mini family at heart. Not a fan of the abarth interior or handling much. Otherwise it’s okay. Just the Pepsi to my coke ;)
I drove a modern mini S for a day a long time ago and I was disappointed. It wasn't as fun as everyone was telling in the internet. Steering was vague and there was noticeable torque steer. I don't know about JCW but mini's are aight..
Jason Lee I drove dozens and dozens of minis and the steering is absolutely precise, quick, tight and communicative, that and the way is handles are the best things on these cars
ok, its 28 vs 34 in canada (just looked at the .ca sites). Thats still a 6k difference. The BMW 3 series starts at 41k (in canada), which is only 7k more than the mini so they are in the same quality class, right? The BRZ is designed as an entry level sports car, so I think comparing it to the Cooper S (which is the same base price as the BRZ) is a more fair comparison. Lets slap 6k worth of mods on a BRZ and see how the JCW fairs.
Yep that’s the base brz. The sport tech which has similar amenities to the base jcw is 30k. So much closer. The BRZ inazuma which has big brakes like the jcw, but not much else different is 32,700. So as I said, close to the base jcw. But yes the cooper S is a better comparison. (But still a lot faster). But guess what? Personally I would take the BRZ Lol. (I spend a lot of my time on the track where the brz would be more fun.)
Fair point. I'm an ex MCS and BRZ owner but the pricing and options are a bit different down here in the US. I'll need to keep that in mind when watching your vids from here on out. Cheers!

As the happy owner of the 2006 MINI JCW, this is the first review of a newer JCW that made me envious.
Sorry to potentially make you have to spend way more money. Lol. (I love the older Jcw minis as well)
I have an 06 as well. i actually was tracking my 2012 audi ttrs last week and had a new jcw with bolt ons was on my ass for a few laps. now I'm interested in the new ones too. It was legitimately fast. My audi made over 400whp and i wasn't much quicker than him on the straights.

lol same here man. Just got an 03 Mini S for a great price. It's fun to drive. I love it!
The older supercharged ones are freaking awesome to drive
Same thing happened to me 2 years ago (which is around the same time i guess), and i never looked back!
My next car for sure.

You should check out the MK7 GTI. It's a serious upgrade over the MK6.
@@TheDevonParker ..that's a huge differences. Yes, but not ever close to this "version"..it's a another level.
What a great review. Solid advice and input about the driving experience of the car. Want one of these sooo bad
Just bought my first Mini it’s a 2017 JCW Mini s convertible and I love it ❤️
3:42 reason why i like this video
My new Mini Cooper S (with the JCW pro exhaust) on order and can’t wait for the initial drive and miles of smiles.
I've had my 2015 JCW (with the pro exhaust and carbon tips, of course) for nearly 4 years now and it still makes me grin like an idiot whenever I drive it. I thought my old MINI was great, but this latest generation just blows it out the water
Same car is used in straight pipes...By Jakub and Yuri ... Exact same car....
Yep! I had it like a week before them lol.
I noticed the plates right away too.

its not expensive at all for an exhaust. If you already bought aftermarket exhaust, specialy valved ones, its in the prices maybe even lower
Great review! Thank you! You've certainly earned a new subscriber

Nice - vintage throttle house 🤙🏽
I have the previous gen mini (the R56 JCW LCI) and it is as much of a blast as you describe this F56 :-P
I need James to review this car too 😂
The buggy lights turn on with high beam only. Your welcome
...then what good are they other than a money waster? Or are the high beams that bad you need auxiliary lighting?

In Malaysia, there is "4 doors, JCW line" called "amplified version".

Any chance we can get new review of the jcw since they brought the manual back?
Nice review! Any track videos with Cooper S models?
I like the straightpipe review over this one.
Do you like it more than the golf r. I’m looking at those two this weekend. Thanks🤙🏻

Great review video!
does this have push to start buton engine or is it with key ?
All minis from like 2007 are keyless start
Would you have this or a fiesta ST?
Mini
Fully loaded JCW or Golf R for similar price?
The JCW is definitely the more “playful”. But the golf R is a better all rounder.
Great review overall but I can't tell you how disappointed I am it's not a manual transmission.
Chopped 3 cylinders off? :p Isn't this a 2 liter 4?
Wait. Didn't I say 2 cylinders lopped off?

Your voice reminds me of Dwight Schrute from The office.
False
Sounds great but manuals are more fun
its really cool but the red color on a mini its not cool for enougph i seen it in black its amazing
Yep I'm buying a pimped out Mini damn it
Please drive a JCW GP3!
2015 Abarth compares well with the mini as well for 10,000 less 👍
Scott Robertson plus the $1900 option for a mini to sound as good as the Abarth does stock. Had an Abarth 500 and loved it!
Fozee Black that’s what people say but I never had any issues with mine in 2.5 years !
Fiats are garbage.
Kyle Jarmolych have you ever owned one? Or even driven an Abarth?
Scott Robertson driven yes, owned no. Got 4 minis. Mini family at heart. Not a fan of the abarth interior or handling much. Otherwise it’s okay. Just the Pepsi to my coke ;)
And I get pulled over for exhaust when this from factory is clearly louder. Wtf
but who actually cares, I ripped the tag off my fob
