Lol yeah the side of the ocean seems a bit sketchy.. I couldn’t come up with a spot that wasn’t wooded. Don’t mind the rain but don’t wanna get squished by a tree 😂 take care buddy.
cool tent you have got. would suggest that the next time you set up the tent, to use a tarp, which is a little thick, under the tent, as extra security, since the bottom of the tent looks a little thin, safe from sticks and small stones or the dog making a hole in the bottom of the tent. Before you use it next time, give the top sail extra impregnation, especially in all seams. Looking forward to your next tent trip.
Thanks buddy! Great suggestions as always, the ground sheet is a must. And I think we’ll seal this tent up and use it again. Pretty impressed for the price.. Cheers brother 🍻
Haha you should have used the banana trees for shelter. Then your title could have been "I survived a hurricane using banana tree leaves for shelter" 😎 looked like fun you all take care stay safe for real ✌
Good video. Did the same in my $70 two person tent during hurricane Hanna in 2020. It was a strong cat 1 but I only had a few drops in the tent. My ‘yard’ is wide open flat farmland with no fences or trees anywhere near so not too worried about flying debris….but right outside my house so could seek shelter quickly. I evacuate with stronger hurricanes.
Thanks Richard, and that’s awesome! I kinda had the same idea. I drove around For a couple of hours looking for a good spot. But couldn’t find anything that didn’t look dangerous. I suppose I had the same idea as you, if it got too bad just go in the house. Thanks again buddy take care.
I am only ever going to be car camping. Currently have a 5 person tent I share with my daughter but one day she'll want to camp with her buddies and I'll need a tent I can stay in on my own. -- can i sleep in a cot in this tent or is too short?
I was surprised with the size in this tent, I would say it would definitely accommodate a cot. That’s great you’re getting out their with the kids. Thank you and take care 😊
@@laffitteoutdoors I'm one of the leaders of an American Heritage Girl troop where we take girls aged 6-18 camping. I would definitely NOT be camping if my daughter did not enjoy it so much. But in the meantime I am glad to go with a group
Looked like a great way to test your gear! Great job capturing the experience. Seems like a good call to stick to your backyard instead of the woods in a storm like that!
Well thanks Jess, I drove around looking for a suitable spot and couldn’t find anything that didn’t look like it was going to kill me lol. If things got too bad just go in the house. Take care buddy!
I agree with you, I just figured no one would believe me with the house being so close. I was pretty close to falling asleep in there before Steve showed up lol. Cheers buddy and take care.
Yeah I hear it’s getting pretty rough out there. It was a pretty dry season for us as well until recently. Sometimes I set a tarp up to funnel the rain into our pool because our well has been so dry.
He sits alone in a tent as the hurricane rages outside. For the adventure? Or for the views? He doesn't know anymore. One thing he does know - this tent leaks. And a leaky tent is no good. His dog rages at him much like the storm did. There is no safe refuge for him.
Hahaha Seth you’re becoming quite the poet! To be honest I wouldn’t blame anyone for not watching this 😂 I guess generally I think gear reviews aren’t very exciting, just trying to spice things up a bit..
Well i didn't expect a video. Backyard camping great idea. Did you cheat? Or you really stayed in tent? That was bad storm. Glad you all are safe!! Steven is hyper but cute pup.
Lol I figured even if I did sleep in the tent no one would believe it with the house being so close. So I slept in the house. I hope I mentioned that at some point 😬
@@laffitteoutdoors i was joking. U doing that in the storm was a big deal. Anything could have flown over. Only thing that flew in was the pup. 😂😂😂. I am glad you and your family are safe. Always great to see your video.
Yeah it's not a good idea if you set a camp near a trees during a hurricane soi it is much better in an open area how about the debris of a flying roof 😂😂😂😂
Thanks very cool. Thanks for sharing. Stay dry.
Thanks Soren, I’ll try my best and you as well buddy! Take care 🍺
Lol. You were definitely not the only TH-camr that was in a tent riding out the hurricane.😅
Look like fun you dog made me forget about the rain 🌧️
Thank you very much Rodrick! The pig dog makes every situation better :) Even in the rain.
I'm glad to see you are alright.
Thanks buddy! Hope you are doing well 😊
I saw a couple of people camping during a hurricane. At least you were in your back yard not I'm the woods or off the ocean like them
Lol yeah the side of the ocean seems a bit sketchy.. I couldn’t come up with a spot that wasn’t wooded. Don’t mind the rain but don’t wanna get squished by a tree 😂 take care buddy.
YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE SIR. ONLY BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT OF IT FIRST. LOL BET THERE WILL BE A BUNCH NEXT HURRICANE. GOOD JOB THANKS
Lol thank you very much! Bunch of middle aged men in tents in their backyard 😂 I’d watch it…
Looks like a usable tent for sure
Hey Turtle for 90$ I think it held up pretty good! Cheers buddy 🍺

A good idea for my next storm encounter 😂 off topic but we actually had bananas this year. First time .. Thanks buddy
@@laffitteoutdoors Haha awesome! 😄
Cool tent. That’s a car camp tent for sure @ over 7 pounds. Not sure how many are gonna want 7+lbs as one of their big three.
Yeah I agree, definitely not going to hike far with it, but price isn’t too bad.

Steven wanted to join u to test out the tent huh :)
Lol I suppose the tent is 100% Steven proof.. Sleep pad as well 😂

I rode out 3 hurricanes 🌀 since 1979... In a semi at truck stops.. Rocked all night. Hurricanes David,Hugo, and Sandy...
That’s crazy, what was the worst one? I remember Hugo got us pretty good in the south but I was pretty young.
@@laffitteoutdoors they were all about the same. I was well inshore.
Doggy: Daddy, GET IN the House now.! The worst is coming.
If this is a hurricane i am anubis.. lmfao
Lol I think honestly by this point it was a tropical storm..

That’s great! Most of the time I camp with my daughter or son as well. 😊
Am I going to have to start calling you the rain man?
😂 It follows me I suppose.. That means I’d be really smart right 🧐

Tragic in backyard

We know we are special. We ride the short bus.
And we shall all ride together! We might need at least two though.. There’s definitely probably at least a couple more of us 🤣
Wow, stay dry
