I remember driving down I-95 just after the storm. It was staggering to take in all the damage. We could not even tell where we were since all the highway signed were down. Pretty sobering when you see it first hand. Hope all have power back ... hopefully this will at least help areas with drought.

Yeah those of us who live in the Carolinas will always remember Hugo none of us expected it to do what it did. I was in Charlotte North Carolina when the eye of Hugo went over and wiped out my neighborhood. By the grace of God our house was spared and my dad's house was spared. But we were without power for almost 3 weeks. But we were tough and we knew how to make it and survive and we did and we've got some of the greatest lineman out there. But it teaches you to never assume that every hurricane or storm is going to be the same because you just never know. My heart goes out to everyone who's recovering and rebuilding from hurricane Ian. May God be with you and bless you all.
I can't speak for others, but you are so right, it's a very primal feeling and the knowing in the grand scheme of things with Mother Nature, you are NOT in control, so yes you can feel in awe of her raw power, but also fear it's wrath. I learned this at a very young age walking home after an emergency release from school as a level 3 tornado beared down on the neighborhood. I will never forget being handed a large book atlas to protect my head as I hurried home with baseball sized hail raining down. Trees and large debris flew mostly on the opposite side of the road. Since my experience, I am a storm chasing enthusiast, but also absolutely have great respect for Mother Nature's furry for sure.
I'm a spotter for the NWS St. Louis. Ian was a monster. Will take a long time for recovery but extended prayers to FL and all affected. Glad you and your fam are ok. Awesome excursion during Ian.
I was in Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 when it hit Houston flood waters were horrific leaving behind 40 inches of water. She was the first storm ever to have her name retired that wasn’t a Hurricane. She just sat over us for days then slowly drifted out into the Gulf again before strengthening and returning to dump even more water. She and Ian have a lot in common by affecting so many states. My grandmother house in Ohio flooded because of Allison’s long reaching affect in an area that had never see. A flood in its History. Then Hurricane Ike hit in 2008 nearly destroying Galveston Island. I was without power for 44 days in 100 + heat. I still felt blessed when I drove down towards areas that were hit harder. I’m so glad you and yours were safe and continue to pray for those hit with devastation in Florida.
I love the amount of information and clarification you put in your videos. When you first said “I’m going to save Lone Wolf Mountain from the hurricane.” I thought ‘it’s a mountain! It doesn’t need saving.’ Then you explained that the roads can be washed out. Trees can fall down. Etc. Also, I really like your calm demeanour. Nothing (or very little) fazes you. Had to google is there really something actually called "lone wolf mountain" and there actually was in Canada! Did not find any mention on Carolina tho', so idk.
So why was it so important for you to be at the lone wolf mountain instead of at home with your wife and your father there to take care of things instead of going to your site on the Mt. Later and clean up then instead of now during the storm?? I'm confused??
Ida was supposed to come right over us in Ocala, (along I-75, 80 miles North of Orlando). At almost the last minute it veered East away from us. All we got was some rain and a little wind. Thank You Jesus.
Sitting here watching your episode of hurricane Ian. I lived in Cape Coral and we were in the eye wall with 155mph winds. We are blessed to have a whole house generator and the only convenience we didnt have was running water. We were prepared with 12 cases and 12 gallon jugs. We flushed the comodes with pool water. I moved from Florida the next week. I went back in February, four and a half months after. I cried when we went to Ft Myers Beach because the devastation is still in residence. It will take years and years to rebuild. Not to mention the loss of lives. John 10:10 says the thief (the devil) came to steel, and to kill, and to destroy. A truer ststement has never been said.

We spent months prepping for hurricane season and for us it paid off. Food, Water, Clothing, and Shelter at the ready yet if we were told to evacuate, we would have and were prepared to do that as well. Ian circled out around our neck of the woods here in Florida, so we were missed except for 40mph winds and rain. We will not mess with a hurricane and will never become complacent.
This Canadian girl loves a good storm. Give me thunder and lightening and lots of rain. Of course, couldn't be Canadian and not love a good blizzard too. Love heavy snow!

Just learned about NWS spotters because of this video. And thank you for your service!! I would love to do something like this, and my oldest when in elementary school loved watching the Weatherr Channel's tropical update, I'll talk to him about this, let's see how it goes. I took my family, husband & dog also, camping for the 1st time together in April. I feel that I'll have to take the lead in this case as well.
Mother was in Cape coral across from FT Myrrs. All is well and she was safe, but she now has a greater respect for my survival and prepping. Got herself several boxes of MREs and I'll be sending her gear for Christmas and Birthdays
We live in central florida. Ian literally went right under us. Wind gusts of 80 mlh. Rain and flooding. Lots of people still being found. Now it's clean up and repair.
Much more sensible video than when Lonewolf took his dog hammock camping in a hurricane that flattened just about every tree in the forest except the ones they were set up on. Nice to see someone weathering out a storm without needlessly putting other lives at risk.

I wondered why you weren’t at the cabin for 32 minutes. Thanks for putting that in there. I moved to NE Georgia in 2004 and sat through the remnants of Frances, Ivan, and Jean. More rain than I ever want to see again but I had the luxury of my apartment building and being on the second floor.
I hope your house was OK. Here in New Jersey up against the coast we got gentle rain for five days. Thank you for taking us along and showing your fans that live on a very flat part of the country, what you have to do to protect yourself against a bad storm.
I'm in the coastal NC area and we received wind gust up to 65mph. Lots and lots of rain. I slept well when the storm did not progress. We lost electricity for about 30min. Thank goodness for the cool weather. We did not have to suffer. We prayed for our families down in Florida and South Carolina. We were lucky not to have but this one storm this year. I pray that we have an easy winter.

How cool! I didn't know you used to live in Fort Myers! I made it through the storm with no damage to house except my well water system pipes. My pressure tank was broken off and carried over to my neighbor's house. We had over 4 feet of flooding, and it was impassible on the road for 3 days. I and my cat Kayaked in from shelter I took when they said my zone was called for evac. I just got running water yesterday. It took a week to get power. I live inland but along a tributary of a major river. Storm surge was 14.5 feet, and 12" of rain. It was kinder to us here than Irma was, but neighbor still got flooded! Downed trees but none on my house!

I should be so lucky. I have lived in Florida for over 40 years and been through numerous hurricanes. What you went through is a rainstorm, vertually an everyday experience from May through September in Florida.
Very glad to see that you dodged the bullet on this one! I did too, in Land O Lakes, Fl. Funny how a couple of inches on a map can make such a difference in so many lives. We can never underestimate being prepared. Better to prepare a hundred times, then to not be prepared once. Glad you are all safe and sound and looking forward to future videos. Strength and honor.

If you cut a slot in 2 tennis balls you can fit them over the corners of you truck bed cap rear window when you have it open. That way you won't risk tearing you tarp especially in windy situations. Good video!
Hey Luke, Wayne from Myrtle Beach. I know you say not to but had to check off a box on my bucket list. I pulled out my 1 person tent and my dog and had a good night in my back yard in hurricane force winds. Tent survived, so did I, Dog slept well. What a great night. I did take all the precautions before hand and had a blast. Take care my friend
We lived in Naples & pretty much lost everything! We have recently moved to North Carolina & WON’T live near water again! We went thru Irma in 2017 & now Ian n 2022! Heart still broken over all the devastation! Folks down there need lots of help & lots and f prayers!
I live here in Fort Myers, and yes, we were impacted catastrophically. I know a lot of people stayed home due to an unforseen turn from Ian, death and destruction followed. We were lucky enough to live thru it, with less than a mile away where buildings were flattened. Being a man (and being stupid), I stepped out in the middle of the hurricane to assess and was not terribly surprised to see what I saw damage wise, expecting to see downed trees, siding, roofing, vehicles, etc., just destroyed. I'd heard later on there was a man who lived at the beach, did not evacuate, and was found 90 miles Inland... drowned. I haven't found any further info about it, but as human beings, we all can be dumbed down during trying times as these, so I'm not surprised to see and hear the stories coming out after this hurricane. Be safe, strong, and honorable y'all. We're heading into some bad times.

Great video. My wife and I were still in the hospital on the coast of NC when Ian went through. Heavy rain and wind but nothing to write home about. You're spot on when it comes to wanting a "stronger storm without the damage". I told my wife the same and she was very confused. Great video. Glad everything went well for you guys.

This reminds me of cyclone Yasi. One of the largest tropical storms ever amassed on thre plantet. Over 3000 kilometres from edge to edge. We live 900 miles from where yasii went through and we got rain and cloud formations from it. I will say while it was a top side cat 5 , The USA HOWEVER gets the most destructive of storms history has ever seen. Cheers
It's nice to see someone use the chain break the right way. I worked for a company specializing in tree maintenance, tree climbing and removal of difficult trees. A bunch of wild cowboys but one thing they took very seriously. Safety cause it's a very dangerous job and you can't afford to get sloppy. Working with big powerful chainsaws you need to be on top of the game. And the chain break is your most important safety. Sharpen the chain and top off fluids after work. So it's ready to go if needed. Chain break on, start it, break off, rev up till it starts warming up and revs up high. Break on. Break off and start sawing. Break on if you walk with it, break off and saw, break on. The correct way to use it. So much people get sloppy with the break in video's. Even firefighters. Btw there's a simple way to fully test a chain saw. Break on, start, break off, rev, tilt the blade up 180 degrees vertical, down 180 degrees. Horizontal tilt sideways on both sides. If it looses power during this testing, don't use it and have it serviced.
Gosh, I shouldn't really get excited about a big storm coming especially when many have lost their homes and lives. I have to say though, I love a good storm.
Yes Luke some of us ladies like the storms and hate the destruction they cause. I get my fix watching them on TH-cam. Although this might be because I lived thru the 1972 Vancouver Washington tornado. I was in the 6 th grade home alone sick with my 4 year old brother.
I love to watch a good storm also. Always gets my adrenaline going with livestock and pets to worry about, but I enjoy it all the same. Never lived through a majorly destructive storm, but I get a kick out of watching flash floods, crazy waves at sea, and the like. Fascinating stuff.
I’m in my mobile home in Bonita Springs Fl. No damage no flooding but we were lucky. Evacuated to Clearmont for four days. about 60 neighbors lost windows roofs, carports which had not been reinforced. 140 Mph windows, 1/2 steel cable helps. Also about 5 miles from beach.
Hi Luke, this is the first comment I think I've ever left anyone. I really enjoy your videos new and old. You have a great demeanour about you that just screams, chill out for 30 or 40 mins and reset your clock. It's absolutely brilliant. But my god you do tend to over do your content titles. I live in Ireland where its always raining. That's what you got was some rain. I didn't see a fight to save loan wolf mountain. I seen some rain that the area could clearly handle. It's very off putting. And not just this video but over the last 6 months it's been in some cases farcical. As I said I love the content, your videos. Wouldn't change a thing bar the titles. Ease up a touch. You don't need shock and awe to get a following. You have it. Don't loose it.
The storm wasn't bad once it got to what you refer to as Lone Wolf Mountain. I was born and raised within 30 mile of there. It wasn't too bad, but hey, might as well sit up on the side of the mountain and watch it rain. Good times...
As someone who grew up in the mountains of NH. I have seen flash flooding and flooding. I remember back in the day we didn’t have school for a week because a lot of the roads were washed out or or bridges gone.
I was flown into Houston on emergency leave right before Hurricane Ike hit here in 2008 and also got slammed by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. 2 of the most costliest hurricanes to have hit the US. Luke, glad y'all faired well there!

Awesome save, Luke! I love riding out hurricanes. My wife and I sat away from the beach during Hurricane Iniki when it skirted Maui and hit Kauai directly. We watched idiots go out on their surf boards. The fireman pleaded with the guys not to go out but finally needed the police to order them onto shore. The hurricane actually destroyed several beaches on the south shoreline.
Thanks again for the video. Do be looking into getting an awning for your mountain camper rig... I think that would be well worth the investment. I'm glad to see you as an example of someone who protects and take care of what they have in their life.
I get it. I always love a big crazy storm, mostly I like it because it's an ego check. You can be the baddest mother on the planet, but mother nature will not hesitate to drop you. So I sit, watch, and respect the power and beauty of the storm.
You may do well to rent a Ditch Witch or a Bobcat to dig a proper side of the road ditch and add any whistle (metal culvert) where a crossing would be necessary. I know the storm is well-past but my suggestion is for future work. May want to see about where your trailer cabin is located to ensure high ground and any ditch necessary anywhere else. Yes be concerned about falling limbs on big trees over the road or onto the trailer. You are a wonderful Steward of your Lone Wolf Mountain property and the trailer cabin, truck camper and all of your outdoor equipment and sheds. I have been through a CAT 1 Hurricane in New Orleans (Hurricane David in the 1980s) and several tropical storms in FL between 2015-2020 when we lived there and did evacuate twice as we had a manufactured home. Yes had damage from "Irma" but it was mild.
Glad to see you faired well through this storm. Our family lived 20 miles, as the crow flies, from some of the worst areas hit by Camille’s remnants in Virginia. The stories we heard were terrifying and weeks later we drove down to see some of the destruction. Those images are forever seared into my brain. They estimated up to 30+ inches fell in 8 hours. The power of water should never be underestimated.
Sky Watch and amateur radio operator here for thirty+ years, mostly tornadoes we deal with but occasional other nasty storms. As you can imagine, deadly situations and definitely the ones at night are the real "boot shakers". Glad you made it through this horrendous storm, hope all was OK on the home front. Thanks for the video update on Lone Wolf Mtn, at least you had a good hot meal😋

I love stormy weather but not the type that creates devistation to an area like Ian did to the barrier islands; that is so sad. We live in the woods and do worry about trees coming down on our home.

We got 7" up here in south western New jersey after Post Tropical Cyclone Ian turned into a Nor' Easter. Some of the worst over capacity drains ive seen while out filming since living on the actual coast. Love the content!

I would love to do something like this, and my oldest when in elementary school loved watching the Weatherr Channel's tropical update, I'll talk to him about this, let's see how it goes. I took my family, husband & dog also, camping for the 1st time together in April. I feel that I'll have to take the lead in this case as well.
Mother was in Cape coral across from FT Myrrs. All is well and she was safe, but she now has a greater respect for my survival and prepping. Got herself several boxes of MREs and I'll be sending her gear for Christmas and Birthdays

We live in central florida. Ian literally went right under us. Wind gusts of 80 mlh. Rain and flooding. Lots of people still being found. Now it's clean up and repair.
Much more sensible video than when Lonewolf took his dog hammock camping in a hurricane that flattened just about every tree in the forest except the ones they were set up on. Nice to see someone weathering out a storm without needlessly putting other lives at risk.

I wondered why you weren’t at the cabin for 32 minutes. Thanks for putting that in there. I moved to NE Georgia in 2004 and sat through the remnants of Frances, Ivan, and Jean. More rain than I ever want to see again but I had the luxury of my apartment building and being on the second floor.
I hope your house was OK. Here in New Jersey up against the coast we got gentle rain for five days. Thank you for taking us along and showing your fans that live on a very flat part of the country, what you have to do to protect yourself against a bad storm.
I'm in the coastal NC area and we received wind gust up to 65mph. Lots and lots of rain. I slept well when the storm did not progress. We lost electricity for about 30min. Thank goodness for the cool weather. We did not have to suffer. We prayed for our families down in Florida and South Carolina. We were lucky not to have but this one storm this year. I pray that we have an easy winter.

How cool! I didn't know you used to live in Fort Myers! I made it through the storm with no damage to house except my well water system pipes. My pressure tank was broken off and carried over to my neighbor's house. We had over 4 feet of flooding, and it was impassible on the road for 3 days. I and my cat Kayaked in from shelter I took when they said my zone was called for evac. I just got running water yesterday. It took a week to get power. I live inland but along a tributary of a major river. Storm surge was 14.5 feet, and 12" of rain. It was kinder to us here than Irma was, but neighbor still got flooded! Downed trees but none on my house!

I should be so lucky. I have lived in Florida for over 40 years and been through numerous hurricanes. What you went through is a rainstorm, vertually an everyday experience from May through September in Florida.

If you cut a slot in 2 tennis balls you can fit them over the corners of you truck bed cap rear window when you have it open. That way you won't risk tearing you tarp especially in windy situations. Good video!
Hey Luke, Wayne from Myrtle Beach. I know you say not to but had to check off a box on my bucket list. I pulled out my 1 person tent and my dog and had a good night in my back yard in hurricane force winds. Tent survived, so did I, Dog slept well. What a great night. I did take all the precautions before hand and had a blast. Take care my friend

We were in the eye..(Fort Myers) still in recovery and for a long long time. This was devastating; physically, mentally and to the area.
You were in Charlotte Co? My Friends were close to the eye there, but did ok, other than some bent up pool cage members.

We lived in Naples & pretty much lost everything! We have recently moved to North Carolina & WON’T live near water again! We went thru Irma in 2017 & now Ian n 2022! Heart still broken over all the devastation! Folks down there need lots of help & lots and f prayers!
I live here in Fort Myers, and yes, we were impacted catastrophically. I know a lot of people stayed home due to an unforseen turn from Ian, death and destruction followed. We were lucky enough to live thru it, with less than a mile away where buildings were flattened. Being a man (and being stupid), I stepped out in the middle of the hurricane to assess and was not terribly surprised to see what I saw damage wise, expecting to see downed trees, siding, roofing, vehicles, etc., just destroyed. I'd heard later on there was a man who lived at the beach, did not evacuate, and was found 90 miles Inland... drowned. I haven't found any further info about it, but as human beings, we all can be dumbed down during trying times as these, so I'm not surprised to see and hear the stories coming out after this hurricane. Be safe, strong, and honorable y'all. We're heading into some bad times.

Great video. My wife and I were still in the hospital on the coast of NC when Ian went through. Heavy rain and wind but nothing to write home about. You're spot on when it comes to wanting a "stronger storm without the damage". I told my wife the same and she was very confused. Great video. Glad everything went well for you guys.

This reminds me of cyclone Yasi. One of the largest tropical storms ever amassed on thre plantet. Over 3000 kilometres from edge to edge. We live 900 miles from where yasii went through and we got rain and cloud formations from it. I will say while it was a top side cat 5

It's nice to see someone use the chain break the right way. I worked for a company specializing in tree maintenance, tree climbing and removal of difficult trees. A bunch of wild cowboys but one thing they took very seriously. Safety cause it's a very dangerous job and you can't afford to get sloppy. Working with big powerful chainsaws you need to be on top of the game. And the chain break is your most important safety. Sharpen the chain and top off fluids after work. So it's ready to go if needed.
Chain break on, start it, break off, rev up till it starts warming up and revs up high. Break on. Break off and start sawing. Break on if you walk with it, break off and saw, break on. The correct way to use it. So much people get sloppy with the break in video's. Even firefighters.
Btw there's a simple way to fully test a chain saw. Break on, start, break off, rev, tilt the blade up 180 degrees vertical, down 180 degrees. Horizontal tilt sideways on both sides. If it looses power during this testing, don't use it and have it serviced.

Gosh, I shouldn't really get excited about a big storm coming especially when many have lost their homes and lives. I have to say though, I love a good storm.

Yes Luke some of us ladies like the storms and hate the destruction they cause. I get my fix watching them on TH-cam. Although this might be because I lived thru the 1972 Vancouver Washington tornado. I was in the 6 th grade home alone sick with my 4 year old brother.
I love to watch a good storm also. Always gets my adrenaline going with livestock and pets to worry about, but I enjoy it all the same. Never lived through a majorly destructive storm, but I get a kick out of watching flash floods, crazy waves at sea, and the like. Fascinating stuff.
I’m in my mobile home in Bonita Springs Fl. No damage no flooding but we were lucky. Evacuated to Clearmont for four days. about 60 neighbors lost windows roofs, carports which had not been reinforced. 140 Mph windows, 1/2 steel cable helps. Also about 5 miles from beach.
Hi Luke, this is the first comment I think I've ever left anyone. I really enjoy your videos new and old. You have a great demeanour about you that just screams, chill out for 30 or 40 mins and reset your clock. It's absolutely brilliant. But my god you do tend to over do your content titles. I live in Ireland where its always raining. That's what you got was some rain. I didn't see a fight to save loan wolf mountain. I seen some rain that the area could clearly handle. It's very off putting. And not just this video but over the last 6 months it's been in some cases farcical. As I said I love the content, your videos. Wouldn't change a thing bar the titles. Ease up a touch. You don't need shock and awe to get a following. You have it. Don't loose it.

The storm wasn't bad once it got to what you refer to as Lone Wolf Mountain. I was born and raised within 30 mile of there. It wasn't too bad, but hey, might as well sit up on the side of the mountain and watch it rain. Good times...

As someone who grew up in the mountains of NH. I have seen flash flooding and flooding. I remember back in the day we didn’t have school for a week because a lot of the roads were washed out or or bridges gone.
I was flown into Houston on emergency leave right before Hurricane Ike hit here in 2008 and also got slammed by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. 2 of the most costliest hurricanes to have hit the US. Luke, glad y'all faired well there!

Awesome save, Luke! I love riding out hurricanes. My wife and I sat away from the beach during Hurricane Iniki when it skirted Maui and hit Kauai directly. We watched idiots go out on their surf boards. The fireman pleaded with the guys not to go out but finally needed the police to order them onto shore. The hurricane actually destroyed several beaches on the south shoreline.
We survived Ian here in SW FL, and my community is pretty devastated but we’re stepping up and helping each other

I get it. I always love a big crazy storm, mostly I like it because it's an ego check. You can be the baddest mother on the planet, but mother nature will not hesitate to drop you. So I sit, watch, and respect the power and beauty of the storm.
A brave man is someone who takes the time and prepares for the risks; then he goes out in the tempest! Honor and strenght to you Luke!
A smart man builds something more permanent so that he doesn't have to risk being in the tempest.
You may do well to rent a Ditch Witch or a Bobcat to dig a proper side of the road ditch and add any whistle (metal culvert) where a crossing would be necessary. I know the storm is well-past but my suggestion is for future work. May want to see about where your trailer cabin is located to ensure high ground and any ditch necessary anywhere else. Yes be concerned about falling limbs on big trees over the road or onto the trailer. You are a wonderful Steward of your Lone Wolf Mountain property and the trailer cabin, truck camper and all of your outdoor equipment and sheds. I have been through a CAT 1 Hurricane in New Orleans (Hurricane David in the 1980s) and several tropical storms in FL between 2015-2020 when we lived there and did evacuate twice as we had a manufactured home. Yes had damage from "Irma" but it was mild.
Glad to see you faired well through this storm. Our family lived 20 miles, as the crow flies, from some of the worst areas hit by Camille’s remnants in Virginia. The stories we heard were terrifying and weeks later we drove down to see some of the destruction. Those images are forever seared into my brain. They estimated up to 30+ inches fell in 8 hours. The power of water should never be underestimated.
Sky Watch and amateur radio operator here for thirty+ years, mostly tornadoes we deal with but occasional other nasty storms. As you can imagine, deadly situations and definitely the ones at night are the real "boot shakers". Glad you made it through this horrendous storm, hope all was OK on the home front. Good stuff Luke. I know you were working your property, but it still looked like fun to me. I too am a bit of a weather/storm nerd but interesting story, the only tornado I have ever seen is the one that destroyed my neighborhood back in 2015. Life is good amigo.

I love stormy weather but not the type that creates devistation to an area like Ian did to the barrier islands; that is so sad. We live in the woods and do worry about trees coming down on our home.

We got 7" up here in south western New jersey after Post Tropical Cyclone Ian turned into a Nor' Easter. Some of the worst over capacity drains ive seen while out filming since living on the actual coast. Love the content!
