Galu did not mention this, but it's worth knowing that you get visual upgrades for all of your units, except for the Vineyard units I believe, if you side with the Elves. The Thorn units, the Dorwinion Infantry, and the High Paladins will be armored in tasteful golden chainmail and plate armour with purple liveries. They also get elven weapons, even the Thorn Crossbowmen and Patroller units with elven crossbows! The Avari Elves, of course, do get visual upgrades into golden plate armour as well, but they don't get helmets...? Do the Avari have no sense of self-preservation? Who knows. I think the Avari Shadows don't get golden armor, I'm not sure.
The Human path is limited in visual upgrades to the units you unlock, and even then only a small portion of them. I believe *only* the Regent units get upgraded into Byzantine-looking armor, and that's it. Though that does not take away from them looking fantastic; the golden-purple armies of Elves and Northmen are much more appealing to me.

    • @joshmason6597
      @joshmason6597 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

As a side note, I believe the Dorwinion infantry becomes a wholly elven unit (as in the unit models change from human to elves) once you upgrade to Avarin plate.

@@joshmason6597 Hm, I've always thought it was obvious that the people with the helmets were human and those with the hoods were the elves. But hey! Believe what you will! That's the beauty of it.

Moroquendi units has such sexy armor design, and reading this I want to make a Dowrinion campaign :D Only issue is that the armsmen (human 2-h swordmen) looked really cool, but they are human path only, so I won't see them in that elven armor-upgrade :/

Hello friend. Yesterday, you told us about giving the Nazgul a themed bodyguard, to reflect their origin, ex. the Haradrim Ringwraiths having Haradrim bodyguard, the Khandish one a Khandish unit etc. I find it quite good, as it recalls the Shadow Knights of Khamul. Yes, I am very fond of it. The Numenoreans can keep their Dark Numenoream units, but it would be cool to see other units with the Nazgul, as it would be a great political weapon for Sauron to show that all humans are under his reign and authority. But I would choose only the best unit, as the Nazgul would not intervene with anything less than the most capable and better equiped. I think they will be really cool in silver and black, like Khamul's own bodyguard. As for weapons, I am of the opinion to have either strike infantry units or sword-and-board units if you don't go for cavalry, as these weapons fit better with the whole bodyguard issue (personal opinion, of course). Of course, I will welcome whatever the DaC team decides. But I will be happy if I read your reaction- as I barely have any response by you.
PS: I find interesting the weapon choice of the Thorn Guard. This weapon is a swordstuff, a very powerful two-handed medieval weapon, which is, as everyone guesses, a halberd. Also, nice the choice of the greatswords to the strike infantry. Well done, it adds variety. I like it and I hope to keep them in v5.

Hey Galu, love the videos and the mod. Appreciate all the work that goes into DAC. I've enjoyed the faction overviews, I'm glad they're back. A lot has been made about some of the difficulty ratings, I like having them in the faction overviews. I think they're a useful tool in deciding what factions to play. It is my opinion the rating system could be improved by taking a survey of your beta testers. Average up the difficulty ratings they give and use those for the scores in your faction overviews. Obviously you can't personally play every faction, the beta testers are a tremendous resource in that respect. Their opinions could greatly improve the accuracy of the difficulty ratings.

Now that you mention the Plague mechanic.. Would it be possible (and interesting) to use it as a feature? For example, when the Witch-King or Sauron returns, certain factions will be hit by the Plague. I don't know wether it's possible to rename te debuff. That'll give you more freedom then. It's just very unsettling to see the map slowly getting covered in disease. Maybe you could make some factions immune? Or make them receive a buff instead of a debuff. Lore-wise it's a stretch but there is some precedent; corruption of Mirkwood and Fangorn for example. Could be interesting to consider I think.

Honestly with how close the Avari Warriors and the Armsmen are in function, you might replace the Warriors with something else. If I remember right you were saying the Armsmen would be for either choice in V5. If you were willing to add in another unit, perhaps a hybrid ranged unit? Because if a person wants to play a wealthy, civilized, infantry heavy faction, they can play Gondor, or Ered Luin, or a number of other reasonably similar factions. However a faction that has rare, valuable, Elven elites that can be protected and supported by cheap, readily available human chaff is unique to Dorwinion. It isn't about what is best, it is about what is most fun and interesting. DaC isn't a competition, it's a piece of entertainment.

I decided to ally them and build up my economy and turtle a bit
Thinking I am safe, I decide to go through rune with my 2 full stack armies, that push my economy to its limits, to attack mordor from the back and save Gondor.
So 15 turns later I attack mordor but forget that rune would break their alliance with me.
My homelands were empty, all my men were in mordor.

If you're referring to the planned changes - those are planned (I assume for version 5, which will be a good long while), not current.

It's kind of sad when random collections of fans from the internet have done more work to try to expand upon the foundation talking left than his own family. I don't mean consolidate and polish edit for publishing years or decades after his death. I mean actually do some work and expand their father's vision which he never stopped working on, and would have wanted to continue to grow and expand.
Is this mod different from third age reforged? I'm completely out of the loop because I never reinstalled this amazing mod on my new rig and then got caught up in other games but I'm interested in some Lord of the rings Total War again.
Why did the wineries not have more tiers?
I remember at least in the version of third age that I used to play the map was relatively empty , It had all the major landmarks of course. But the land just seemed to be huge swaths of territory where it would take like two turns to cross or more before you actually reached another tiny settlement , the world just seemed really empty. Has that been addressed? I see that you are all working on creating more diversity of factions which is always a big plus in my book.

I get the feeling that you have beef with Milan in the vanilla game.
