    I'm watching & I replaced mine, 2003 oldsmobile bravada about 2 years ago & I didn't take off fuel lines. It was hectic with the back bottom bolts by the fire wall.. Took me about 12 hours, first time. Bout to redo it again in a few weeks. The memories are coming back as I'm watching 😂 the struggle is real

      Right... videos I'm posting now, Mann. My truck kicked my azz. To include the one I'm editing tomorrow. Hopefully I can do my garage update video now that I'm done with the truck.

    Great video. Theoretically, the less removed the better. Now I'm headed to my driveway to give it a try.
    Wish me luck

      I'm sure you'll be fine. Honestly, I had more trouble with the gaskets for the sparkplugs on the valve cover, so be careful cause the valve cover is plastic and can break. I suggest if they were fine and look good, don't risk cracking the cover and leave them on.

    Very nice video. Just removed my alt. Intake, and my back is killing me. Not an easy job. Have to replace valve cover also. Not looking forward to the rest of the job. Thanks again .

    Really nice video man! About to do this to mine after I found oil in the #1 spark well causing 1 to miss. Got a new coil for 1 and new plugs for all 6 since I’ll be there anyway… I noticed you removed the ac tube. My ac is currently working. Is that ac line pressurized with refrigerant? Would I have to recharge the system afterwards? Also replacing vvt solenoid and gonna try to clean out the pcv tube with some carb cleaner or something. Hope it works!

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should work… and there’s no need to remove the AC line at all. I only did it cause it already has no pressure inside and I need to replace a gasket it’s leaking from.

    So you just pop that lil tab that’s connected to the valve cover cause I didn’t see that part I’m new to the mechanic world and unfortunately this the job I chose to take on 😂 and trust me I’m having a terrible time with that last bolt but good thing I may be able to bypass taking the intake manifold off and take the valve cover off to replace the seal🦾

  • @wildside1951
    @wildside1951 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My valve cover has a gap in some places and im not sure why, the back seems to go flush with the head but the middle part doesn't and I don't wanna hog down on it

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Try using something with a straight edge like a long ruler and check to see if the valve cover is flat from edge to edge. If not you’ll need to replace the valve cover. If it is flat do the same to where to cover meets the surface of the head, and if the head is not flush then you’ll need a new head. Either way if you don’t want to purchase any of the two then let me know and I can come up with a way you can make it work for now.

    my 02 trailblazer has oil leaking into the cylinder 4 and 5 spark plug wells, im no expert but im wondering if this could be a possible fix, some people are saying my piston rings are bad but some say that isn’t the problem so i’m stuck.

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be the rings yes. But, it can also be a head gasket leaking the oil into the pistons and the valve cover gasket is definitely leaking it into the spark plug well. All can be fixed. I know I love my truck so it’d be worth the time to fix it.

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on how loose the spark plug is on cylinder 4 the oil can easily just be dripping in from the well. Which can be best case cause all you’d have to do is what I do in this video.

    • @mikedavis9923
      @mikedavis9923 ปีที่แล้ว

      No way is it possible for oil to contaminate the spark plug tubes and it be from a piston ring. That's absurd.

      I bet it the cam cover gasket/ spark plug gaskets my envoy is getting oil in 1-5 your can tell if it coming from cam cover cer easily

    Did you had to disconnect the ac line n recharge later ?

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s no need to disconnect it you can move it out the way. I disconnected mine cause I need to replace a gasket seal on it so it was already empty.

    Why did you replace the valve cover gasket? What symptoms was it having?

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I replaced it cause i saw oil around the valve cover bolts on the passenger side. Also, there was oil coming from between the valve cover and the head, which it'd get onto the exhaust and burn up. I also noticed some oil in where the spark lay inside the well. I wasn't getting any codes for it, but it is possible to get a misfire code if the oil coats the spark plug and not allow it to spark correctly.

      No. Just let it sit awhile so the oil can settle out of the head.

    I had a loss of power after I did all this. The spark plugs are replaced as well as the throttle body and I still have a loss of power

    • @JTuned_Garage
      @JTuned_Garage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try making sure all the connections are fully seated including the spark plug wires. If you continue to have issues with the loss of power try your coils. The coils tend to be an issue I’ve noticed on this truck. If you still have issues after that. Contact me on my Facebook page (JTuned Garage) and we can get more in-depth on figuring out what needs to be done.

      If your noticing coolant in the motor then you more then likely need to replace the head gasket. The overheating is common with these models. I had two that had it, what fixed it for me believe it or not was one was missing the plastic fan cover and when I added it… the over heating stopped. The other I replaced the fan clutch and added an aftermarket fan in front of the radiator (towards the front of car) blowing into the vehicle and the overheating stopped.
