Hobonichi. $80; montblanc fountain pen, $600, Italian leather cover for planner $125, retro pencil $60, leather pen case $50… now that I see the gifts I gave my partner, my stationary hobby looks way more budget friendly 😂😂😂
PSA: as a long time fountain pen collector and user, more expensive doesn’t always = better writing experience. You’re paying for marketing and material.
I love that you mentioned a metallic smell on your hand when using the brass pens! I'm very sensitive to metallic smells and it's very useful information.
I am completely in love with my Roterfaden. It’s like a Trapper Keeper that will never wear out. It’s definitely an investment - there is quite a variety of sizes and designs, so be sure you’re getting what suits your particular workflow.
Nice. I have a Kaweco Sport Bronze. I'm very pleased with it. The nib writes smoothly, and the metal gives the pen a satisfying heft. I might say that the genius of the Sport collection is that one can throw it in one's pants pockets or pack or shirt without worrying about distressing the surface . . . it's meant, not for abuse, but for fearless use. A deep scratch would vex me; but, it's a Sport.
As a lefty I already have these scissors. They are the best I have ever gotten mainly, because the blades are in the correct position for use in a left hand. 😊❤
That olive Taschenbegleiter was the runner-up for me; I went with the brown Bestseller for the wool interior as well as the pen loop. As it's out and about with me I wouldn't chance losing a Fancy Dan fountain pen, so my Jotter comes with me. Second on "good scissors matter". I hem my own pants so it's nice to be able to cut neatly. Certain things in life are worth the extra to me: pens, dish soap, catsup and sponges. Yes, sponges matter!
This stationery is gorgeous. And while I don’t use these specific items, I do invest in good (enjoyable) stationery because it is a boon to my working day. When I’m dealing with a difficult problem or difficult person, I always have my journals and pens that I can vent to.
The functionality of the notebook cover was the most appealing to me out of this set. I loved the editing that was done along with the bloopers at the end!
This was fun to listen to, hi Emily! :D Also the stamp looks really good! That might be the only thing I really want from this collection (already have a Kaweco and I am resisting the urge for more!)
I wanted a koweko brass, but have since realized I don't like heavy pens and you can't eye dropper fill that one because the brass will react with your inks.
Nothing beats a truly good pair of scissors. I hide mine, otherwise it will walk away and never return. I love my Kaweco Sport fountain pens- the raw aluminum was my first and is a uch a beauty! I also have a Traveler’s Company brass fountain pen (not rollerball). It’s a workhorse! The 3-pen Kaweco case just got added to my list. ❤
oh that brass Kaweco eraser is SO pretty, I want it for looks and also to throw at the heads of those who displease me. good thing it's expensive so I can never own one.
It happened to me in the beginning, with my first "Grail pen", a Pilot Falcon (metal body). Once, as a incentive to use it more, I put it in my front pocket. But I forgot there was also a pencil with a metallic cap... The pen got all scratched and I was obviously pissed at myself for a few minutes. Then, maybe because it didn't look as pristine, I found myself using the pen all the time like crazy. Now I don't mind anymore. That said, sometimes if it's a pretty notebook, I start doing a very ugly sketch on an easily removable page, so I can remove it a few days later when I started to use it more regularly.
The good news is the brass pens are DURABLE. You could run over them with a car and they’d be fine. They don’t need babying, and will last you forever. If somehow you drop the kaweco sport nib down, you can buy a replacement nib unit - no need for pricey repair costs. As a clumsy person who loves stationery, Kaweco is my answer 🤩
Back in the 80s when I would get my publish clearinghouse sweepstake entry sometimes they would include a little pencil in the envelope. All it was was a regular sized lead with a piece of thin wooden veneer on it. Does anyone still make these?
The Kaweco liliput in brass is the perfect weight for me, I think the brass Sport is too heavy. For the Sport I like the aluminum one the best; though sadly I dropped mine and the cap threads broke and it no longer screws on.
I love my kaweco brass eraser! It was worth the splurge for sure. I keep it in a 2 slot rickshaw koozie with a retro 51 mechanical pencil in my gaming bag
Mmmm, I want those scissors.. ✂️ I have many of your scissors.. I am enjoying the Hobonichi now. I do love fountain pens, and I have many. The Kaweko pencil looks great.
Haha.... I find that I'm happier buying middling level products mostly because I feel bad using expensive items unless it is something like a nice cover. ... And, I cringed a bit seeing fabric cut with paper scissors because I have super fancy fabric only scissors for sewing. And, special scissors for trimming my hair... maybe I'm a scissor collector??
The Roterfaden cover is so cool! I see on your website that it comes in A5 and B6 sizes, but in one of the photos of the B6 covers, the size is given as B5, not B6. It's that way for every cover that's displayed as "B6." What is the correct size of the smaller covers? This cover and the scissors are so tempting!
I still struggle to see how any of them meet their price tags 😅 Sure they look awesome, but they come with major caveats e.g. time-consuming to prepare and protect them (compared to actual writing done) or that metallic scent left on your fingers... These products are for people who love the items more than writing itself 😂 They are appealing though!
Don't downplay the stench. Brass pens create a very distinctive smell - ugly IMO - when interacting with the skin of the fingers. Make sure you can stand that smell before investing. None of my friends or family can take the stink. That filled notebook is flat and bulky and does not lay flat for easy writing. The opposite of elegant. I'll give you the scissors though. They are terrific.
for 100bucks I rather have a bigger fountain pen, my 30 bucks plastic sport is a great pen. But only for short sessions. I would go with a Waterman Hemisphere for 100
Pray for me was diagnosed with an acute case of papyrophiliac. I have an uncontrollably tendency to buy stationary products even if I already have enough to last me years.
I have bought 5 or 6 Kaweco Sport fountain pens, I suppose because they are "cute," and not one of them will write worth a damn. No matter what ink I try, Kaweco pens dry up within 2 days of non-use. Maybe the answer might be to use them constantly, but the Sport holds very little ink for that. Now they sit, unused. I am all for quality pens and stationery, but frankly, Kaweco was an odd choice for your ad.
Why wouldn't you just go with the Kaweco Sport rollerball. It looks just like the fountain pen. I can't stand the Kaweco Sport products with no cap, though. They're so stubby and ugly to me
I don't understand why the stamp is $66, it's not anything special, it doesn't differ from most stamps. I got a pair of Fiskar scissors that also have the same anti-stick coating that I got at Walmart for like 6 or 7 bucks, and they're also sharp. The stamp and scissors just feel like you're paying for the name.
All of these companies should offer luxury fabric or other materials as an option for those who dont equate luxury with animal skin thats been ripped off.
My favourite one is a fountain pen Parker 21 my grandfather brought from USA where he worked and lived for 30 years. It's really perfect. Useful and never fail. The other dozen I have I never use. I put them in an old silver beer tanker on my old walnutwood. desk
What's in your dream stationery collection? Let us know if the comments!
hey can you swap the w speed engine of kuru toga advance with the normal engine of a kuru toga roulette
@@frwdfr I want that too

The new shaeffer coffee pens you guys posted about are my new dream pens!!
PSA: as a long time fountain pen collector and user, more expensive doesn’t always = better writing experience. You’re paying for marketing and material.
I agree. My Montblanc doesn't have as good an ink flow as my TWSBIs do.
Totally agree, miy Twsbi and my Pilot 20 dolars have a ink flow much better then my Sailor, even though the Sailor is great😊
The Namiki Emperor is totally worth the money. I’ve got lots of other fountain pens and nothing quite comes close.
I want the stainless steel kaweco sport pen. My purple one writes well, but it lives in my pocket along with a leatherman and other hard objects.
@andreacook7431 I have one Kaweco broad nib that is absolutely pleasure to write with
I love that you mentioned a metallic smell on your hand when using the brass pens! I'm very sensitive to metallic smells and it's very useful information.
Very true!!! Metallic smells make me nauseous
Definitely the scissors ! As a lefty, it's sometimes so hard to find good left handed scissors in my country 😂
I am completely in love with my Roterfaden. It’s like a Trapper Keeper that will never wear out. It’s definitely an investment - there is quite a variety of sizes and designs, so be sure you’re getting what suits your particular workflow.
Thanks for sharing about your experience!
These prices give me a heart attack but the stationery looks so nice! 🤩
You know you're not a casual hobbyist anymore when you hear "$500 collection" and think "that's it?"
Faaaaaaacts
😂 shhh.
😂 a montblanc pen alone blew this budget.
So true

I love all of these, but would love a budget version of this list 🙏
That's a great idea! We'll add it to our list.
@@JetPensAgreed. I teach so I’d love a list of things I can give as prizes. I’m legally not allowed to give kids anything worth more than $20.
My favorite is the mini-convertable 😉
Should've been an actual Mini, not a Porsche 😀
I love everything Jetpens sells 😊
I use my Roterfaden as a reading journal. It’s very apologetic to sizes and I can clip a paperback in it together with a journal

OOOO that Roterfaden cover is grogeous! It’ll help me memorize German if I get Roterfaden brand journal/planner inserts too.. 😮
totally an educational purchase!
I already speak German and don’t know why I haven’t been using Rotterdam all along now that I think of it 😮
Loving the portfolio and calendar stamp.
A good pair of scissors can be a game changer, but watching you use the same pair for fabric and paper hurt me.😂
Left-handed scissors! Yay! I just added them to my wish list. (-:
My Roterfaden was a game changer! I absolutely love it, have had it for exactly a year and have used it everyday since. So worth!!
Brass acts as a catalyst that changes the chemistry of some hand oils.
The functionality of the notebook cover was the most appealing to me out of this set. I loved the editing that was done along with the bloopers at the end!
As a luxury stationery minimalist, the Kaweco brass sport pen is my absolute favorite!
Is this Vince Guaraldi? If not it sounds wonderfully close.
JetPens creating me new necessities.
This was fun to listen to, hi Emily! :D

I could totally afford one item a month... My collection is going to be stunning by this time next year!!

If I had $$$, I'd buy the goat leather cover for the Midori notebooks :)
It's soooo pretty. We love that cover!
Very nice looking set of stationary, I’m still trying to find something that suits my current inventory of pens.
oh that brass Kaweco eraser is SO pretty, I want it for looks and also to throw at the heads of those who displease me. good thing it's expensive so I can never own one.
It's all wonderful, but if I paid that much for something, I probably would be afraid to use it. (I'm klutzy.)

oh lord im so early... this morning i ordered without thinking cause i saw there was one more left of the jetstream multipen i swear by..
Montblanc is waving
Stationary goals!
Stationary goals would mean you’d never move, like a Zeno’s paradox situation. You mean “stationery.”

i was seriously considering getting the Roterfaden from Germany, but stopped myself and just bought a Hobonichi cover 😅😅
Honestly...my Kakuno beats out Kaweco AL, Twsbi, and Sailor Pro Gear Slim Fountain pens 😢 I'm a bit peeved. The Kakuno is sooo smooth...
Alright, if I had the cash, I'd get the Makers Cabinet Iris.
Never have I want scissors so much.
Maybe if I start saving now, by the time I use all my existing stuff I can afford these.
Love the bloopers in this one 😂😂

Love kaweco brass . Bought all three.
an ink cartridge with a mini convertible would be best! lol
*_"Taschenbegleiter"_*
Bless you.🤧🤣
I’m kind of want that left hand pair of scissors and I’m not even left handed
begging travelers company to make a steel version of their pens. i love the look of the travelers pens but my allergy to brass sure doesnt
I still love it when my ears perk up to a german word randomly popping up from the vastness of the internet.

Could you please do a video on pocket mechanical pencils that I could carry in my pocket everyday please! Thank you!
Thank you for the suggestion! We'll add it to our list of ideas.
Good thing I have an open cart to add those left handed scissors to!
I want that stamp 😭

Now, imagine buying these things...
but in Canada.
500 DOLLLLLLLAAAAAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSS. OMG THAT MORE EXPENSIVE THEN MY STUDY TABLE AND BOOKS ALTOGETHER😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
How do you manage to get me excited to watch commercials 😂
Buying an expensive pen seems like a fun way to find out you have a brass allergy.
Me if i wasnt broke
gimme the scissors.
They're reallyyyyy nice.
Stationary? In this economy?
I love Kaweco Fountain Pens!🤩

Uh oh “refrigerator” was spelled wrong haha
Please do not cut paper with your fabric scissors. You will have a pair of scissors for paper, not fabric.
My mom: 500???
Me: oh. Oh you haven’t seen the literal volcano pen.
Why wouldn't you just go with the Kaweco Sport rollerball. It looks just like the fountain pen.
I can't stand the Kaweco Sport products with no cap, though. They're so stubby and ugly to me
What's with the TH-cam progress bar in the video?
Me watching this with no money:😢
Neat
