I went forward with ordering Keychron V1 Max as Q1 Max, 75% layout that I prefer, as Q1 Max is out of my budget. This will be an upgrade to my older, trusted and modded K2 v2, which after mods sounds (thocky and silent) much better than factory Q1. Surely am planning to mod the new V1 Max and hope it will be even better.
I just got my Q5 Max and I love it's robust and hefty build (2kg!). It was my first custom board although I bought the pre-assembled version as I am fairly new to custom boards. I'm glad I got the Jupiter banana switches which I find is a good mix of sound and tactility. I have heard others' unhappiness with the unlit key characters but since I bought it mainly for typing rather than for gaming it wasn't an issue for me. I don't really need the wireless feature - but it was good to have - as I use it in cabled mode. I didn't get the other Q5 variations as I did not like their color schemes. The Keychron is certainly a big step up compared to the likes of Razer/Corsair/Logitech.
Thanks for the review, mine is on the way. I was worried that the keyboard would be too tall for comfortable use, but it seems that it has a really nice tilt.
@@sirens367 No, the tilt makes the keyboard comfortable, even when pressing the back keys (my hands are relatively large, might be different for you). Overall it's the best keyboard I've ever used, although I'm not using it primarily for gaming.
Gotta admit I love this keyboard. If I can afford it in the future, I will get Jupiter Banana and compare with the brown I got. Caps are a perfect match for my fingers. Only annoying part - when I charge the battery it reset the settings on the backlight and I have to do it again (Fn + Q)
How is the wake up and reconnect time when using the 2.4ghz? My wife has a K8 using bluetooth that takes 10-15 seconds to wake up and it frustrates her greatly.
Yeah we don't get much choice for m.keyboard in Europe, sadly : anything that's praised overseas for being great value needs to be imported, so that value is pretty much gone : why spend 160-180€ on a budget import when you can spend a bit more for premium quality.
Also absent on this keyboard are the usual scroll lock and pause/break buttons that are standard for such a layout. It is possible they can be remapped with VIA but I'm not 100% certain and it feels like they should function as customers would expect in Windows mode out of the box.
There is a ksyboard shortcut (don't remember the keys) that turn on 1 to 10 keys leds. The number of keys with led turn on give you the battery charge level
I like Keychron products but unfortunately the Q series has south facing LEDs which are functionally useless, meaning that typical shine through keycaps will not illuminate well (or at all) on this keyboard. It's a pity Keychron doesn't offer an optional north facing pcb since modern switches these days don't interfere with Cherry profile keycaps in either orientation and certainly none of them interferes with OEM keycaps.
South facing, do have a use if you have the side label or a transparent portion on the bottom of the key. That's the only place I've seen them used and look relatively nice.
@@georgejones5019 cosmetic glow between the keys some people like it for sure, but actual illuminated lettering on the top of the keys like most customers might expect from an rgb keyboard can only come from north facing LEDs with shine through keycaps. Or it could come from keycaps with top surface south positioned shine through keycaps as a bandaid solution but literally no-one makes them for sale.
I agree with your comment about wanting the lighting to "light up the key"!
I've been on a Nuphy Halo75 for the past 4 months and I absolutely love it, but this seems interesting as well. Cheers Andy

Hey. did your keyboard ever have a metallic/tinny sound?

Quite frankly they need a iso version , for that price i want an ideal layout
on keychron de this keyboard which doesnt look q3 max, it looks like q3... is in ISO version also in barebone ISO w/wo knob
I just ordered the Q5 Max upgrading from my K2. Can't wait to get it on my desk.
Hyper bowl lol wtf
Definitely one of those scenarios where someone only ever sees the word online and never in person lmao
Hyperbole, exaggerated, flashy, too much. Pronounced as hi-per-ball-ee
Your vids are not being pushed to me anymore. I had to go looking for your latest vids. Why YT?? Why??

Thanks for the review ! Is it just me or the spacebar rattles a little bit ? I'd like to know please, because I may order a Q3
great review, well done

faster than bluetooth 2-3 seconds?
I love my K3 and K8 Pros. By a large margin the best keyboards out there for about $100 each.
Nice, some of those K models have north facing LEDs too. Good gear.
@@kesamek8537 Mine are south facing. Admittedly, I miss shine-through keys, but it's a minor price to pay for such a good keyboard.

How can you check the battery percentage?

Hey kids. Its not “hyper-bowl” its “hyper-buh-lee”
can i ask, is that gigabtye a520m v2 am4 support ryzen 7 5700x
The profile of those caps I think might be too tall. I like tactile switches so HE switches I don't think would work for me
This keyboard does not have Hall Effect switches - they're mechanical.

It's pronounced hy-per-ba-lee.
I just wanted you to hear this from me instead of on the street.
need ISO variant ^^
It's available now, at least in the German keychron site
@@0reo2 thanks! :)
Great video. Your expressions are a bit over the top. But other than that great channel. Subbed to get you to 100k
