    Setting the shims to get max clearance as they tighten up with use

      Hah yea I had a bit of trial and error with this ole girl as well. I bought it last fall and it just sat in my driveway and then in my garage. So finally getting it right and hearing it fire up and purr like a kitten was definitely a good feeling. It's all fun and patience with old bikes. A labor of love I sapose. Iv'e never messed with a 4 cylinder before though. I imagine that there's probably lots that can go wrong when your in there messing around. If your anything like me I don't have any service manuals I just dive in and figure it out and hope for the best. It's more fun that way hah. I live in a pretty quiet community. I am definitely the black sheep of the community. Thanks Nicky!

      Thanks Mikey! she purrs like a kitten. I have to get it road legal and I have a new back tire coming for it. Then I can really put it through it's paces and see if I want to keep it or not.

    It’s a popular mod to advance the exhaust cam one tooth

    Surprised the timing chain stretched in only 19K miles.

      Yes me to. But I don't know any history on the bike. But it's all good now.

      Hey thanks Will! I didn't even want a KLR but the deal found me and I couldn't pass it up. She looks pretty good now that it's together. I'll have to take er on a big adventure tour trip this summer and see how I like it. I may or may not keep it.

      Sweet man! Yea I haven't got a chance to try it out to much yet. It was pretty sad looking when I got it, but it turned out pretty nice. I'm excited to take it on some trips this summer. Thank you!

      Just bought a 2004 20,000 k one for $4,000 AUD with new tyres and a timing chain conversion so I'm looking to see what that involved.

    Cool video I am going to studied....
    Question, do you think is a good idea to adjust the Tensioner Chain Balancer in the Top Dead Center position?

    • @506curtis
      @506curtis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't believe that the crank position has any affect on the balance chain as it is an external balancer system.

    What about changing ignition

    • @506curtis
      @506curtis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't be to certain Joseph I haven't been into the ignition system on this bike. I mostly just dig into things and learn as I go.
