    What’s going on Carlos? I got a 2008 freightliner Detroit 60 series 14l i’m having a similar issue I have two codes for the actuator, but every time mechanics perform test it passes but when I’m under a load motor requires more boost the check engine light and service light pop up I release the paddle, the lights go away, they only activates when I’m under a heavy load , and requires more boost, the actuator passed test twice also self calibrated today, got back on the highway and the engine lights came back up again not as much as it did before so it did some type of calibration, but still not working. Perfect, if I remove the actuator from the turbo, will I need a computer to calibrate it again or it doesn’t matter if I put it back in or what do you think I should do?

      @@mario1386 #1 look for any oil contamination in the harness, #2 remove the turbo actuator and perform a hyper thesis test which will check to see if the actuator is good. This is a pass or fail. #3 check the lever or claw on the turbo itself, does it travel smooth or bind/feel hard at any point? If it feels hard then this could be the cause of the issue.
      You will need to remove the coolant before you remove the actuator. Maybe try a test ECM with a truck of a similar year.

      I recommend you have access Insite software, you can remove the turbo actuator and manual test it once it has been removed. Also check the sweep on the turbo. If it smooth then you more than likely have an actuator issue.

      Use the software and perform a test on the turbo (hysteresis). It’s a pass or fail. Also, you can remove the turbo actuator from the turbo, check the sweep on the turbo. Is it smooth? You can then check the actuator using the software, calibration.
      Check the harness for oil at the injector harness. You can also check the hat at the MCM. The 121 pin for oil

    @transport21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So what did you do about he oil contamination?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hack Daddy - Official - the oil contamination originated from the injector harness, over time this allows oil to pass through into the main engine harness. I had to change all three harnesses in order to eliminate the contamination.

    • @transport21
      @transport21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carlos Diesel Electric what about the ecm did the oil not reach that yet?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hack Daddy - Official - oil did reach the ECM, in most cases your ECM is fine. You can usually just clean the contact area with electric cleaner and use shop air to dry it off. After the harnesses have been replaced and you are still having issues then try using a test ECM or just replace the ECM.

    How do you get one rebuilt

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rodney Johnson there are a few places that can rebuild turbo charges and use the old turbo actuator. I don’t recommend that route, a rebuild on just the turbo alone runs $1400-1800 with a very limited warranty. But, if the actuator fails then you still need to buy one, have it calibrated so you are looking at $600-800 (ball park) for the actuator plus labor and the person has to have the Detroit Software to calibrate properly.
      So in the end it price comes out the same, but the OEM from the dealer at least has a 1 year warranty when typically the rebuild has a 3 month to 6 month warranty.
      I know either way it ain’t cheap, hope this helps.

      I checked the can lines on the actuator connecter and one of them I was getting 2.3 and the other line was 3.5 ground was good and power to it was over 11 bolts . That most likely has to do with the harness I’m assuming . I checked the turbo the blade was chewed up pull the actuator off and the arm was very hard to move as welll .
