AND, you are not likely to get a main warlord to help you because Nobunga steals them all. I hated this one. My fav tho was rather the water one against nobunga or the fighting type person.

I can see Sakon with Ninetales, since Ninetales is known to be smart in Leaf Green, Y and Shield, and also the fact that in Warriors Orochi 4 he has Laevateinn as a Sacred Treasure. Musashi and Kojiro can use Aegislash because not only these two are swordsmen, they are also rivals, which makes sense to make both of them have the same Pokemon. Maybe in their stories, they are competing in who can link with Zacian first. Since Toshiie is Keiji's uncle, and Keiji specializes in Rock and Fighting type Pokemon, maybe Toshiie can follow the same path and maybe uses either Machamp or Aerodactyl. Katsuie's known to be loyal to Nobunaga, which could make him exposed to Dragon types, and thus uses Kommo-o. Takatora has appeared in this game as a generic character, and he can be a unique character in the sequel. He can still use Chandelure, but maybe uses Moltres for the legendary link. Naomasa also has appeared in this game as a generic character, and also can be a unique character in the sequel. Naomasa is a Fire and Steel specialist, so maybe he can use Heatran for the legendary link, while keeping the Tepig line as the normal link. Naotora is a bit difficult, but she can use Mawile, as Mawile is part Steel-type, and it should work fine as Naomasa and Ieyasu also have Steel-type for the type specialty. Munenori also has appeared in this game as a generic character, surprise surprise. Scizor should be fine for Munenori, just like the generic version. Masayuki also appeared as a generic character, and based on his type specialty in the first game, I think Camerupt works well for Masayuki based on the type specialty. Nobuyuki doesn't appear in this game apparently, not even as a generic character. To match the whole Sanada family appearing, a fire-type perfect link would work fine. I haven't thought of it yet, but I have thought of the legendary link, which is Volcanion, since Nobuyuki is married to Ina, and Ina's perfect link is Empoleon, which should make a link between the two's Pokemon type with Volcanion. Yoshitsugu appeared as a generic character in this game, and should work fine with Delphox, based on the perfect link he has in this game. Hisahide appeared as a generic character in this game, and my thought for his perfect link is Houndoom, not only because he is a Dark type specialist in this game, Hisahide also appeared as a Fire Ninja bodyguard in Samurai Warriors. Kojuro appeared as a generic character in this game, albeit in a different name as Kagetsuna Katakura. He should work fine with using Dragonite. Kagekatsu appeared as a generic character in this game, while having the Ralts line work fine as perfect link, I think there should be another Pokemon used for the Perfect Link. I don't have a definitive answer, but I'm considering Orbeetle to be the Perfect Link Pokemon for Kagekatsu. Takakage appeared as a generic character, but his Perfect Link in this game is also used by Magoichi, so maybe Decidueye works. Toyohisa doesn't appear in the first game, so I decided to base Toyohisa off of Yoshihiro, his uncle, which has a Fighting-type specialty. Toyohisa seems to fit very well with Primeape, in my opinion, due to his personality in the Samurai Warriors series, which was known to be reckless, and he rarely admits defeat on fights. Lady Hayakawa is known to be Ujiyasu's daughter and Ujizane Imagawa's wife. Since there's not much stuff can be drawn from the Samurai Warriors series, and not even from the Warriors Orochi games, I think Rock and Bug can be Lady Hayakawa's type specialty and have Armaldo as a perfect link. Chacha actually works really well in this game as a generic, so in the sequel, I think her having Cinccino as the Perfect Link would work just as fine. Sasuke appeared as a generic character, but his Perfect Link in this game has already been used by Hideyoshi, which is the Infernape line, though I'm thinking him with Blaziken can work. Katsuyori appeared as a generic character, and the Tyranitar line isn't used in any other unique characters, so the Tyranitar Perfect Link can stay. Hidetada appeared as a generic character, but his Perfect Link in this game has already been used by Mitsunari, which is the Bisharp line, so my thoughts for his Perfect Link are either Perrserker or Copperajah, as Hidetada only specializes in only Steel-types. Goemon, Goemon. What a wacky character he is. I didn't even remember he existed until I replayed Warriors Orochi. Not much is known from him, and he seems to be the "forgettable character" type. You know what, I don't know where should I look anymore. I'm just gonna make him have Honchkrow as the Perfect Link, as its pre-evolution, Murkrow is known to be attracted to anything sparkly, such as gold. It has been done. A week has passed, and all this are finished.
Perfect timing, just finished replaying Conquest for the first time since release last month. Very grindy in the post-game, but still rather fun. Music is top tier and the character interactions are really sweet. Regardless be nice to still get my conquest fix thanks to this series.
This game is simply amazing. They just didn't put any advertising into it. I hope this game gets remade or that it gets any community attention 8 years after the game came out. Truly a hidden gem and I'm glad you found it. Everyone who seriously played this game thinks it's incredible.
I love this game to pieces. I still have my physical copy, and when I rebooted it, I found that I had rotated three Pokémon to be my partners. Umbreon, Gardevoir, and Hydreigon. Glad to finally see you've finally jumped on the mini-resurgence.
A great spin off. I live in Germany where it never was released and was able to get a copy in the Netherlands. I think a lot of the German Pokémon fans don't even know what they missed
@Ben K you could probably find a rom of it online and I would recommend getting a ds flash card so you can play it (and other stuff like randomized games as well) on a real ds system
For years I wanted them to do an updated newer conquest - I love this spin off so much I’ve got like 500 hours from playing this game. Imagine having more than just the one massive island - have a Kyurem shaped island etc.❤️❤️

I found it helpful to try to recruit as many warriors as I could. It made postgame a bit easier to already have evolved pokemon and people with pokemon they can have a higher link percentage with, as it will carry over. Oh and also, I’m not sure if you figured it out by the end of this session, but attacking your opponent from the side, behind, or from high ground will usually give you increased attack and/accuracy so try to do it whenever you can.
The fact that every warrior is unique, including the generic-looking ones, and their bonded Pokémon/evolutions are saved inbetween postgame missions is a bit unintuitive.
Magikarp can be a good defensive staller oddly enough, you can send magikarp to stand on water away from enemy attacks and restore HP with the ability Gulp that allows the pokemon to regenerate on water. Screw attacking with splash hoping that Magikarp will bounce on top of the enemy, but it can protect a castle XD
@@MayhemEverFree If you get a magikarp with good attack it can evolve to gyarados relatively quickly and then you have a flying unit with an excellent attack
To clear things ip with the recruitment thing, you need to: -Finish them within 4 turns OR -Finish them with super effective move OR -They didn't deal any damage to any member of your army during battle When recruiting a Warlord the finishing move has to come from one of your Warlords (yellow background) Also if they die indirectly (burn damage, poison damage, traps, etc), it doesn't count.
This is the game that turned Jigglypuff into one of my favorite pokemon. I wanted to challenge myself as a joke and have Oichi's Jigglypuff to beat Nobunaga, during the whole game Jigglypuff did 4 to 5 hits with DoubleSlap and I was very lucky getting critical hits or getting the Lullaby ability to activate putting enemies to sleep. Jigglypuff felt broken during that first time I played.
@@Kyara7 Jigglypuff appears in the title screen with all the legendaries for a reason, it is a pseudo-legendary in disguise. But being serious, it was mostly because I liked to have every warlord with their respective perfect pokemon, that way they always appear together during events. Jigglypuff was a great pokemon in Oichi's hands either way, since she gets the Jigglypuff Charm you can have Jigglypuff as a reliable tank that can be immune to all status effects, can put enemies to sleep if you let her take the lead and Sweet Song can restore the party's health.

You have no idea how happy I am to see you play this game! I absolutely loved this game when I was younger and spent my time completing all the side stories as well after the main game.
Jigglypuff was actually very useful for me in the Main Story, she hits pretty hard once her link gets up, and Oichi’s warrior skill is one of the best. Sadly her usage runs out once you evolve her into Wigglytuff, because her move is just... objectively worse. Multi hit moves feel pretty great in this game! Oichi’s Dragon/Normal specialty gives her nice options like Dragonite and the Eevee line, or anything really since she has a huge range of recruitable Pokémon, which is fitting for the second main character! In the post game it’s advisable to pick up some other powerhouses for her to replace Wigglytuff, but you WILL miss having Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff floating around her during cutscenes.
What’s fun is the game will punish you if you lose when conquering a castle by making the enemy stronger and you weaker so you do have to plan ahead when attacking. Strategy is essential in this game.

@@Beefster09 Let me put it this way. The main game here is basically an extended tutorial. You then play a story for EACH of the warlords and junior warlords. And once you beat all THOSE, only then do you unlock the ending!
I think the true lore of this game is that this is just a bunch of high schoolers playing medieval Pokémon during break time. It would explain the average age, the tracksuits, the route 1 pokemons, the plot and the fact that your character knows nothing about being a warlord 🤔

As someone who finished replaying (including all the post-game missions) this last month I can say there is challenge, but it fades as you get further in. Not just because you get better at it, but because it saves the Pokemon you get each warlord after you get them a good Pokemon (and later evolve the warlord). It's hard before you do that, but when you're starting missions later with (for example) Staraptor, Dialga and Lucario it becomes rather easy. Still a great game though.
I like how there's hardly any intro or anything and you're just thrown in as the mute new warlord character out of the blue and then there's a random ass invasion battle where it turns out that you, the new warlord, have not figured out yet how to order your Evee to move it's chubby little legs. Introduction 10/10 World building 10/10 Organic plot development 10/10 Organic tutorial 10/10
You aren't exactly mute, your character does have voice lines both for items and their warrior ability, as well as voice lines at a few story points. But overall the main character doesn't speak as much as the other characters.
Also, the beginning of the game can seem a bit slow-paced when you only have few warriors and just battling ends the month right away. It really opens up once you have multiple armies recruited and can split them off to train, recruit, defend and gain gold and shop for items.
I love Pokemon Conquest. fun story: I thought that it named your kingdom after your character. Because in an insane coincidence, I named my character Aurora.
I love pokemon conquest and how it was based off of the Sengoku era. I wish they had a sequel for it though since it was my childhood and I both it only because the last platinum was taken by this kid who was just ahead of me by a little. I'm glad my dad bought it still and I've replayed it so much. Yukimura is best boy LOL
Geez, I’ve had mystery dungeon, pokémon ranger, pokémon dash, pokémon pinball, and even pokémon box on the game cube, but I’ve never even heard of this game before. When I heard the name in the Duke Dashington video I thought it was a fan game.
I loved this game when i got it, love pokemon and strategy, only thing I didnt like myself, was that the main story of the MC was short, but then you get to play as every single character in their own story, Id rather have a long MC story but still a classic.
The only map that sticks out in my mind as encouraging strategy is the flying type one; the defending army starts in a really good position that makes it easy to box in enemies, and on my first playthrough I had a rough time figuring out how to win. The AI doesn’t camp the good position (even though it could totally wait you out) so you can just make them come off that platform and then it’s easy. I was also a child when I played it though, so it might not actually be as hard as I remember lmao
I had no idea about the Nobunaga's Ambition game to know that this game is a cross-over. But I looked up the game and the artwork for the characters is literally exactly the same, holy crap.
It's also fun that they used the characters from the Samurai Warriors game and stylized them. It makes me think that a Fire Emblem crossover would also work well like this
So yeah I like this game it's a combination of Pokemon, Final Fantasy tactics and Samurai warriors/ Nobunagas ambition and its amazing for it. It does need a sequel for sure!

As a history major I love this game. It’s a combo between 16-17th century Warring States Japan, anime, and Pokémon, all of which I love. It’s very niche and grind heavy but it absolutely worth it. I think I have something ridiculous like 400 hours invested into this game.

This game is low key awesome, it sure has its flaws but as a concept I don't know how it took so long to be made and has not been expanded upon

This was the funnest Pokémon side game, I replay it all the time and it never gets old, the characters are so really well written

Jigglypuff was a great pokemon in Oichi's hands either way, since she gets the Jigglypuff Charm you can have Jigglypuff as a reliable tank that can be immune to all status effects, can put enemies to sleep if you let her take the lead and Sweet Song can restore the party's health.

You have no idea how happy I am to see you play this game! I absolutely loved this game when I was younger and spent my time completing all the side stories as well after the main game.
Jigglypuff was actually very useful for me in the Main Story, she hits pretty hard once her link gets up, and Oichi’s warrior skill is one of the best. Sadly her usage runs out once you evolve her into Wigglytuff, because her move is just... objectively worse. Multi hit moves feel pretty great in this game!
Oichi’s Dragon/Normal specialty gives her nice options like Dragonite and the Eevee line, or anything really since she has a huge range of recruitable Pokémon, which is fitting for the second main character!
In the post game it’s advisable to pick up some other powerhouses for her to replace Wigglytuff, but you WILL miss having Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff floating around her during cutscenes.

What’s fun is the game will punish you if you lose when conquering a castle by making the enemy stronger and you weaker so you do have to plan ahead when attacking. Strategy is essential in this game.

@@Beefster09 Let me put it this way. The main game here is basically an extended tutorial. You then play a story for EACH of the warlords and junior warlords. And once you beat all THOSE, only then do you unlock the ending!

I just made a joke about how this game is so underrated and no one plays it yesterday and then Pikasprey makes a letsplay.
I think the true lore of this game is that this is just a bunch of high schoolers playing medieval Pokémon during break time. It would explain the average age, the tracksuits, the route 1 pokemons, the plot and the fact that your character knows nothing about being a warlord 🤔
This game is a big part of why I like SRPGs, the Warrior series, and Sengoku Jidai itself

As someone who finished replaying (including all the post-game missions) this last month I can say there is challenge, but it fades as you get further in. Not just because you get better at it, but because it saves the Pokemon you get each warlord after you get them a good Pokemon (and later evolve the warlord). It's hard before you do that, but when you're starting missions later with (for example) Staraptor, Dialga and Lucario it becomes rather easy.
Still a great game though.

I like how there's hardly any intro or anything and you're just thrown in as the mute new warlord character out of the blue and then there's a random ass invasion battle where it turns out that you, the new warlord, have not figured out yet how to order your Evee to move it's chubby little legs.

You aren't exactly mute, your character does have voice lines both for items and their warrior ability, as well as voice lines at a few story points. But overall the main character doesn't speak as much as the other characters.

That's funny. This is one of the games I have on watch on Twitch and it didn't alert me that anybody was playing it.
Also, the beginning of the game can seem a bit slow-paced when you only have few warriors and just battling ends the month right away. It really opens up once you have multiple armies recruited and can split them off to train, recruit, defend and gain gold and shop for items.

I wish they had a sequel for it though since it was my childhood and I both it only because the last platinum was taken by this kid who was just ahead of me by a little. I loved this game when i got it, love pokemon and strategy, only thing I didnt like myself, was that the main story of the MC was short, but then you get to play as every single character in their own story, Id rather have a long MC story but still a classic.
Best spinoff
The only map that sticks out in my mind as encouraging strategy is the flying type one; the defending army starts in a really good position that makes it easy to box in enemies, and on my first playthrough I had a rough time figuring out how to win.
The AI doesn’t camp the good position (even though it could totally wait you out) so you can just make them come off that platform and then it’s easy. I was also a child when I played it though, so it might not actually be as hard as I remember lmao

So yeah I like this game it's a combination of Pokemon, Final Fantasy tactics and Samurai warriors/ Nobunagas ambition and its amazing for it. It does need a sequel for sure!

This game looked so interesting and I wondered why I never heard about it, so I looked it up and apparently it was only released in Japan, North America, Australia and a select few European Countries: GB, Italy and the Benelux-states. Which obviously doesnt include my country of origin Germany ;-; and it makes me so damn sad as I love Fire Emblem type games like this....would've been amazing to have that

As a history major I love this game. It’s a combo between 16-17th century Warring States Japan, anime, and Pokémon, all of which I love. It’s very niche and grind heavy but it absolutely worth it. I think I have something ridiculous like 400 hours invested into this game.
I started reading up on the real people because of this game. Gosh, Oichi's life was so sad!
