in pokemon blck and white if you defeat bianca when you just picked without taking any damage cheren will say something about power points, but the chance of defeating bianca damageless are so small, i think bulbapedia listed it as unused text, but i don't rememeber
When I first played Pearl when it came out, I had a Snorlax with Metronome and it actually called Dark Void! Easily the rarest thing to happen in any of my playthroughs because it would be a while until Darkrai was even in the game
Wtf does Darkrai release date and it being Dark Void had to do with anything? Every move has equal roll % for Metronome. If I told you I metronome'd the move Growl, can you replicate it as if it's any less special than whatever anecdote ur using?
@@powerfulberry237 darkvoid was a move exclusive to darkrai but darkrai hadn’t even been released yet so it would feel special to use a move that basically didn’t exist in the game yet. sure growl can have the same percentage chance but it ain’t as special since the majority of pokemon can learn that move
@@powerfulberry237 Dark Void is exclusive to Darkrai. Darkrai was unknown to the public, so Dark Void wasn't a move anyone knew about. It's not that hard to understand.
In Ruby I managed to get onto Mirage Island even though I didn't know what it was at the time. I hoard stuff so I started growing more Liechi's later on. Later on my friends at school mentioned how it is basically impossible to get them. I still remember their faces when I showed them how many I had and then gave all of them some to grow. Also won a Masterball once. To this day Ruby and Sapphire are my favorites.
I remember having a cheat code book and it said that if you beat the pokemon league 200 times then you would get the aurora ticket to fight deoxys. Needless to say I'm probably one of the few people who actually had all the dolls in Lorelei's house...
Back in red there were rumours that if you had a level 100 nidoking, you'd get a cool surprise. Many many childhood hours later there was no surprise but I did have an absolute monster on my team.
Nintendo did infact mention that take notice of certain people online with them referencing directly that a few of the NPCs in the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games are based on a few of the actual users on a very specific website that were the admin for back then in the day. Nintendo at least talked about this online somewhere in more detail. I thought it was somewhat common knowledge and because of that fact I did not save the weblink. I do not think that anybody I was researching back even mentioned anything about the reasons about the specific NPCs being named specifically what they were and why.
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee includes some references to certain popular TH-camrs back in the day as well. I found an actual video confirmation proof of this somewhere in TH-cam. I believe that Nintendo was actively watching their channels around the creation period of them making Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. They do infact go through TH-cam on a daily basis as part of their regular routine while they are working. For some reason a Nintendo rep was talking about a bit of what they do everyday in the building. I did not really care to read it that much considering that I was not even trying to find it in the first place. It was a honest and legally conducted interview as well. The only thing that probably caught my attention was that are actively looking for any and all comments that could be helpful to them to use down the line or something like that.
I spent SO MANY HOURS playing Sapphire and Emerald versions, like A LOT, and i myself have only seen the mirage island ONCE. It was an unreal experience, let me tell you…I had thought it just an urban legend. It happened on a Saturday while i was at my grandparents (what sucks is that i wasn’t even due to be there that weekend…my parents had to go out of town. Had it been the usual weekend i could have run over and shown the kid next door for some EXTRA credibility, OR if it had been a weeked i USUALY go to my grandparents, i could have shown my cousins), so I was sadly the only one to witness it in person…come Monday recess, The only reason anyone believed me that i had been there was that i had the berry.
@@RandalfElVikingo unfortunately the only Pokemon that shows up at the island is Wynaut and even though you find it in the wild, the dex entry will still say Area Unknown since it's a pre-evolution/baby Pokemon
I did the Yellow In-Game Trade for the Muk named Sticky. The randomly assigned Trainer ID was 00000. When I used Sticky on Stadium 1 and it earned a spot in the Hall of Fame, the game misidentified Sticky as a “Rental” Pokemon. All of the Rental Pokemon in Stadium have the Trainer ID 00000, so that must be the only requirement to label it as a Rental in the Hall of Fame. Unlike any other Rentals in the Hall of Fame, Sticky’s name was on its Hall of Fame listing instead of the generic species name. I have never heard of anyone else noticing this minor occurrence before as I suspect that it is pretty rare to have any Pokemon with the 00000 Trainer ID.
12:18 I’ve, uh, actually found a Gold Bottle Cap from the Digging Bros. It actually has unique dialogue related to it, effectively bringing attention to the rare find. Learning it was 1/10k was pretty insane, as Serebii simply lists it as “Rare”
I didn't know it was that rare. I just wanted the normal versions anyway since you often don't want 6 IVs for optimal Pokemon competitively. Heck sometimes you even just want 4.
I think it's almost unbelievable that its that high, I used to farm them with a macro so I could use my shinnies competitively. I have like five on me now.
Fun fact about Diamond Dust: It has no in-battle weather effect ties to it. This rarely factors into much, but you can use this to your advantage to make the Red battle in HGSS slightly easier.
I hated Blizzard so much because It did not miss... this is the younger dumber me not knowing Hail's additional effect. But man that Snorlax body slammed his butt through enemy Blizzards. HGSS btw.
@@legendofrayquazagaming5125 Guess I am not the only one who picks up a steelix in Mt silver before going to face Red just to take out his pikachu for free :D
A couple of years ago I was messing around in Pokemon Emerald, only to randomly win the master ball in the lottery despite not having any traded pokemon. When the game first came out I tried the lottery all the time and never won so as you'd expect I was rather shocked.
You forgot the hidden grottos in Black 2 and White 2! That's the only legal way to obtain rare pokemon with hidden abilities, such as Vulpix with Drought, Dragonite with Multiscale, or Heracross with Moxie. The encounter rate with these are only 1%, in other occasions you get a random item such as great ball or find a weak pokemon with their own irrelevant hidden ability. And each grotto refreshes after 256 steps, that means you have to run 25600 steps on average to find such a rare pokemon with a desired hidden ability!
I remember getting a dragonite in the hidden grotto. A 1% encounter Mon itself. Was so pleased I actually soft reset and used my masterball to get one with an adamant nature. As it was much more difficult to get competitive mons back then. Still have that DD chilling in home to this day
Killed a shiny Aron cause I thought it was a gender difference and I already had mine. Was confused by the next female Aron one not having red eyes. Was a heck of a moment on the bus a few years later when I realized.
One thing that is kind of rare in platinum (I say it's rare because I feel like the odds of it happening naturally are pretty low) is the "acid rain" glitch. Basically, if a pokemon got knocked out by pursuit while there was weather, trick room, uproar, or gravity active, it would trigger a glitch making multiple weather conditions active at once. Also, if castform was on the field while this glitch activated then it would switch forms forever and you'd have to turn the game off. Just putting this out there if you ever decide to do a "coolest glitches in each generation" video (wink wink nudge nudge)
Adding onto this, in my first playthrough of Platinum when it was new, this happened to me in an in-game story battle. The double battle against two Galactic Grunts with the character you didn't pick. The other character had Clefairy, it used Gravity, and the opposing Croagunk just happened to beat it with Pursuit. Since the glitch relies on a stadium effect rather than just a weather effect, the glitch happened. I posted what happened to Gamefaqs forums back in the day, and another user and I did a few test wi-fi battles to try and figure what else caused the glitch and what was effected by it. The stadium effect we tested was Trick Room, which ended up triggering every other stadium and weather effect. The game does treat them as "real" weather effects, as when I used Defog, the fog message didn't come up the next turn.
There's actually an even rarer one in gen 3. It's basically a variation on the 1/256 glitch from gen 1, but it's only for the first turn of Protect and instead of 1/256 it's 1/65536.
That Lorelei one... that is hands down one of the most insane I've seen to date. You gotta grind out countless Elite Four victories... just for one extra toy to be added to her house.
I grinded out 25 Elite Four victores in my FireRed game myself, just to get one more doll in Lorelei's house, but I never went all the way to 200. Not even close.
@@melancholypuppy3595 Just repeating the Elite 4 again and again, without having to start the game over from the beginning. And, there's no need to use the same party every time either.
10:35 you have awoken a memory that I forgot I had. I remember having the Mimikyu show up after I played around for like 5 minutes at the trailer. Then just getting confused why he wouldn’t talk about it. I never realized it was that rare.
Was confused and researched further and yeah apparently if you go to Zekrom/Reshiram with no Pokeballs but not a full PC it does not go to dragon spiral tower. Apparently there are plasma grunts in the castle that both teleport you to the league center and shop (though I do wonder if you have to retry the elite 4) and one that just gives you 1 ultra ball and will give more any time you have 0 ultra balls. But still seems convoluted
I remember catching a Chansey with the lucky egg back in leafgreen, I didn't know how rare it was till some years afterwards but it sure made the game easier lol
Wait It is rare? I got like two or three in BW2 Natural Preserve without even knowing its rare, and i didn't got shinies there (except the garantized Haxorus)
@@adridoes_sillystuff it's not rare in later gens, I think gen 5 the game just gives one to you and then later gens it's pretty to get. Gen 3 it was almost a myth
I have a very distinct memory of this one time when I was playing the battle factory in emerald and a shiny rental pokemon came up (I think it was a breloom) even though it's probably not much rarer than finding a shiny normally, it still took me by surprise when it happened because I had no idea that it was even possible for rentals to be shiny.
If that happens in the Ruby & Sapphire Battle Tower & your Latios/Latias are still roaming uncaught, you can lose against the shiny in the battle tower and then go and find the wild Latios/Latias, KO it and the game will act like you've just KO'd a trainer's mon and will send out the last Pokémon you faced in the Battle Tower, allowing you to catch it. It's also a good way to get the other Hoenn starters without trading or random exclusives
That buizel side quest WAS a doozy! It took me so long that at one point I wondered if I was doing it wrong. I’d constantly get a buizel that was one inch smaller than it was supposed to
@@mikefeliciano3848 Even if a Master Ball was hacked in and functioned normally, it bypasses the normal catching calculations and would bypass the glitched catch rate.
I only ever saw Mirage Island once as kid! Wish I could’ve appreciated the odds back then lol And I also remember totally thinking I hallucinated the little hiker guy
Ya i found mirage island one time, had no idea what it was. Tried showing my friend the random island i had found a few days later and it was gone he thought i was crazy lol.
I was surprised I somehow missed this island as a kid and I saved and stayed on it for a few days trying to find new Pokémon, got board left and spent a week trying to find it again.
Man that big buizel side quest was a pain. The one I finally caught that was big enough was also a shiny, so it was kind of cool to have a shiny buizel standing with him.
I've definitely found an eviolite in a trash can in Kalos, but I also definitely dumped a LOT of hours into that game and didn't even know that it was a rare item for the game because I was not building anything around it at the time. Kind of weird to have an extra item that's difficult to obtain when you don't realize the actual odds of getting it tbh...
I actually have all the dolls in Lorelei's house. I used my Firered game as a child to train all the Pokémon I liked back then to Lv100 and beating the league over and over was just more interesting than spamming vs seeker on the Chansey trainer on Island 7.
I had no idea that hiker was a random event. I remember as a kid I found him a few times on that mountain and didn’t think twice about it until I went back over the years and never found him again
5:50 There are actually rarer shiny pokemon. Due to the way Unown are generated in FRLG and how it overlaps with the generation of shinies, you can get certain shiny Unown at a rate of 1/18432, twice as rare as the normal shiny odds
That's crazy, on my old leafgreen cartridge when I was a kid I found a shiny unown...I think it was either G or the ! one which is super interesting because it's already rare....I wonder what the shiny odds are for the ! and ? Unown, in the ruins on 7 island
@@cameronspence4977 There are calculators online that require you to have access to your secret ID as the rates are unique to each save files player ID and secret ID combo. Would be especially cool if it was the !
@@teadrinker5751 it’s rare but the odds of an authentic sinistea are still 1/4096 or whatever method odds are in place. The shiny unown in FRLG are not at an increased odds because of two rare factors being combined, they are intrinsically rarer because of the way they generate.
Fun fact, I saw mirage island twice, as well as getting two different pokemon with pokerus before ever getting my first shiny in gen 8, and that even took me hunting for it.
Despite ORAS replacing Mirage Island with the wormholes with the legendaries, Mirage Island will still be something really intriguing to me in RSE, despite it only being useful for getting the Liechi Berry. The one with Chansey and the Lucky Egg is interesting, not to mention Chansey being the hardest Pokemon to catch in the Safari Zone. And despite some nowadays catching a shiny Chansey from there, back then, a lot of people failed except for one at the time. And DPPt with it only having one way getting a Munchlax in game, with 19% of the indistinguishable honey trees having a 1% chance for a Munchlax that can't be reset every time you slater honey.
what about the "horde of 5 Spinda and they all have the same spot pattern, are shiny, have pokerus, have the same nature, same gender, and perfect IVs"?
1 in 2.38 × 10¹⁸ To put into context of how astronomically large that number is, here are the odds of finding a specific grain on sand on all the beaches of the world: 1 in 7.5 x 10¹⁸ You are three times as likely to find the specific grain of sand than you are that exact combination of Spindas
Scratch that, thise figures were without gender, with gender it's 1 in 8.19 x 10²⁷, which is about the same odds as winning the full lottery 4 times in a row
@GlacierOasis actually made a mistake and didn't include gender With gender it's 1 in 8.19 x 10²⁷, which is like winning the lottery four times in a row, which interestingly to me sounds like it should be less likely than the grain of sand but there we are
I remember watching that one video of the wild Phantump joining the team from the camp and I swear if I was still in any way interested in playing SwSh, I would be trying to fish for it. It's just too adorable.
So to my knowledge, in SwSh a caught pokemon can rarely have a title thing in their ribbon section when caught. This just changes what it says when they are sent out into battle, like if you catch a pokemon during the middle of the day, it will say "____ the peckish, I choose you" The reason this is relevant is that if you cook curry and a pokemon joins you, it will have the 'curry connoisseur' title. Apparently this is also a 1/50 chance, so if you do get the chance of getting a pokemon to appear, you may not get the title on it.
(4:53) Actually, the ID numbers ranged from 0 to 65535 back then, so the odds of hitting the Master Ball jackpot were 1/65536 x the number of different ID numbers you had available. Interestingly, I actually did manage to win the jackpot one time in my Gold game back then. There was one week where the winning number was the exact same as my brother's trainer ID, and he was playing Silver, so I just did a quick trade with him and claimed my Master Ball!
Actually, a fact about gen 1 that is not well-known, is related to the Safari zone, but not Chansey. I don't know if people know, perhaps this fact is not as mysterious as I thought it is, but I'm gonna share it anyways. There's a very little chance, the Safari zone guard will let you in, even if you don't have enough money for the entrance (500 poke-dollars). I don't know how you'd end up in a situation that dire, with so little money, or even worse, none at all, but it can happen, if you insist. The first few times he'll tell you to leave, cause no cash= no entrance, but if you keep insisting, like a lot, the dude will eventually concede and allow you entrance with whatever little money you may have. This was done, to not cause a soft-lock I think? Cause you need to go to the Safari zone to get Surf, and you can't progress without that tm, cause you kinda need Surf to get to Cinnabar Island and challenging Blaine. Really impressive.
The glitch of being able to enter the Safari Zone with less than 500 bucks is in Yellow only, where the amount of balls you get is dependent on the amount of money you can pay.
@@Neo_Bones Not exactly. The amount of balls you get is dependent on the amount of money you have. One ball is given to you if you have no money, IIRC.
@@CaptainObliviousV Yes, to you and all the people in the comments, everything you've said is true. I've never personally experienced this, I just heard this fact in a video of a Spanish poke-tuber I follow, who showed video evidence of it being true, and I thought it was cool. So, yeah.
You're telling me I got to Mirage Island in Sapphire to get Wynaut to finish my Pokedex but never saw a shiny Pokemon in the entire game....the odds are not in my favor
3:50 I can confirm this. A week ago I was hunting lucky eggs in Silver and I found a shiny Noctowl before I found a Chansey holding a lucky egg. I already had 2 shiny noctowls but I caught that one too because it was more organic than the shiny egg method.
So about the master ball. I swear I remember, in fire red, throwing a master ball at a zapdos and it said that the throw missed. Maybe it's a false memory, but I remember it clearly.
In Ruby, when I was healing my Pokémon in Lilycove City..the nurse told me that one of my Pokémon was infected with the Pokérus…I was really surprised!!!
I've got a theory that the Buizel quest in PLA was to teach you about random wild Alphas that just wasn't handled very well Because I feel like the only way any of us got that quest out of our logbook, was with an alpha Buizel lmao
I didn't even think of catching an alpha for that quest, I just caught a bunch of big-looking Buizel and eventually it worked…though that definitely sounds a lot easier…
I wasn't willing to give away an alpha, so I ended up just catching like, 20-40 Buizel and eventually one of them ended up being bigger than the one the guy already had.
I got a big enough Buizel without even knowing about the sidequest. When you first go out to train with your "rival" (Rei in my case), Buizel is one of the Pokémon you're required to catch to progress. So once I found out about the sidequest, I just showed the guy the biggest Buizel I had, which was maybe like an inch or two bigger than a normal Buizel. So far I think the hardest PLA sidequest I've had is one of the ones where I had to bring a Pokémon to a particular NPC. Finding the Pokémon wasn't the problem - finding the NPC in question was. Most of the houses in Jubilife look the same, so it's hard to remember which house a person is in. I think I ultimately had to look up a guide to figure it out. The Spiritomb sidequest is also kinda tricky cause it can be hard to see the spirit pieces during the day.
@@mizusenshisongs I don't remember having much problem with the "Bring me this particular Pokemon" sidequests. I haven't played PLA in a while, but can't you just select the quest to have a marker appear? I feel like that's what I did - Too many NPC's to keep track of them all in your head lol The Spiritomb sidequest is on par with Koroks lmao. I didn't even try, I just used a map. At this point, I feel like they almost expect you to use online maps for this type of collect-quest
My mind is blown at that Lorelei Pokedoll thing. Every time I think I know every mechanic of these games, there's something new. I did catch a Chansey with a Lucky Egg in LG, it took me a solid week or so of searching and like 25 Chanseys caught. I've heard of people finding a shiny before they found a Chansey w/Lucky Egg, I did not get lucky enough to find a shiny however.
Due to the scary amount of chance to find a chansey with a egg on ur 25 found it’s a really rare chance, I say this might be a false number id say being more or just a person saying it for clout. And shiny chansey with egg are higher then I can calculate since I’m stupid, but all I know is that it’s for clout and more.
An incredibly rare event from gen 3 is Wally killing his Ralts with the lended zigzagoon. It requires very specific IVs and natures but the chance is 1/8574. On the topic of Wally, there's also a vid him catching a shiny Ralts during a speed run. It even stays shiny for the rest of the game
Still the most bullshit thing to happen in a friendly match with my friend: We used to battle a lot using his XD game and my Emerald game. One time, as I was winning, he tried to use his Fissure Snorlax to beat my Alakazam. Naturally, it missed. Since I was ahead, I decided to have fun and use Metronome for some laughs. You can guess what move appeared AND hit. Glorious.
By Gen 3, there were 354 moves in the game. Out of them, 18 could not be selected, and the rest of them have an equal chance of being selected. Meaning the chances of pulling Fissure is 1/336. Or around a .298% chance. So the chances of pulling and _hitting_ it, assuming both Pokemon were the same level, would then be a .089% chance. Or less than 1/1,100. You have a much higher chance of one egging a shiny with the Masuda method(around 1/683 from Gen 6 and on), for reference.
Reminds me of a time I was double battling with my brother. He has his Umbreon start spamming double team. I have Togekiss use metronome, it rolls toxic, targets Umbreon, and actually hits.
9:15 this is crazy, im finishing my copy of pokemon x and i found an eviolite in the trash cans at the lost hotel! it happened a day before i saw this video or even knew how rare it was. if i had known, i would have taken a photo of the event! i only have 29 seen pokemon in my costal pokedex, and i havent even beat team flare yet, so i guess thats technically proof? but anyway, can confirm, it happened to me
you think that's bad? my first shiny(other than gyarados) was a zubat in gold/silver/crystal...my second shiny was a trainer-owned absol in the Battle Frontier, and my third was a golbat in Pearl . the takeaway being why me? At least I got to see a cool pink absol though XD
My first and only shiny was in pokemon gold, a red metapod I caught in the bug catching contest and it didn't win the contest lol. I eventually evolved it into a pink butterfree.
Although I've seen them in past games, I'm quite certain I've seen no shinies out of random wild encounters in Shield. I've seen plenty in raids and whatnot, but never just from walking into something on the map.
That Buizel side quest being hard really surprised me XD I had just caught the one buizel earlier in the game and just used that one. Worked first time, didn’t even know it was rare until people complained about it.
Interestingly, the very first Buizel I had caught was already big enough, but it was one I was using on my main team at the time, so I waited until later when I happened to get another big enough Buizel after a ton of additional catches.
Has anyone else in G/S ever encountered the Professor Elm aid that gives you the Togepi egg in the Pokémon center just before the community cave instead of in violet city? It only happened to me once and it was on my first playthrough.
To put it into perspective, it's around 1% if I did the math right. So not that rare, I think most people just don't use the cable car a lot, I know I don't

I saw the hiker a few times in RSE and the Diamond Dust in DP, but otherwise most other things I gave up on. I remember being so disappointed when Mirage Island wasn't in ORAS. I was hoping to finally visit.
Are you kidding me? There were a TON of mirage islands in ORAS that were all arguably better than the original. The hiker on Mount chimney's absence though was the disappointing omission for me personally.

@@robertlupa8273 How is that better than a lot of effort for very little reward? Good games are supposed to balance costs and benefits and in the case of the original mirage island the costs of finding it far outweigh the benefits of doing so. I know shinies are cop outs, but in gen 1 specifically, I think it's okay to mention it, as you can actually find Pokémon that become shiny when sent to either Bank or GSC
I saw a shiny Rhydon run past me on the Celestica Trail when I was doing the balloon quest in Coronet Highlands. I instantly stopped my run and went back to where I found it. Sure enough, it was there and I caught it. I didn't have the Shiny Charm.

If getting pokerus isn’t here… 👀 Played so much Pokémon in my life I’ve got it twice (as in billion EV training and got it thru random encounters not traded over one and infected a box) And in Gen 4 SS and platinum 🔥
I saw it more often as a kid than ever seeing a shiny, to the point I thought it was either scripted in each game or just common. Even today I keep getting it before seeing a shiny once lol
I actually got Pokerus twice in 1 year, both times on gen 3 games (emerald and ruby). I'm not sure if it's easier to get in hoenn but I was super surprised it happened once, much less twice. I think in total pokerus has happened to me about 5 times in my 20 years of playing 🤣

2:25 When I was a teenager I decided to start farming Chansey to get a lucky egg. It took over 30 Chansey, I think around 35-40. For sure one full box of them. And then when I couldn't transfer it to the ds games I was devastated
In black and white 2 imposter ditto had a 1% chance of spawning in the hidden grotto in giant chasm which given how tedious the hidden grotto mechanic was made the whole ordeal a massive pain.
Once I was just grinding in my Pokemon Heart Gold to make my Togetic stronger because I like him. I was just using extrasensory or some other sort of moves. And then, for fun, I used metronome. And my boy Togetic uses the freaking SPACIAL REND. I think Dialga was breaking bad in the bar when it saw some eggy boi destroying some random Stantler with some godlike magic.
Back in the days my masterball did fail to catch the 2nd Snorlax after critical hitting the first one, it said it was to big to be caught (German Version of Blue) !!!
WTF were they thinking with the FRLG milestones? Who's gonna fight the Elite Four 200 times? Or hatch 300 eggs before competitive battles were a thing? Or win 100 link multibattles (yes, *multi* battles, with 4 different people, as if it wasn't complicated enough), which needed _physically meeting_ with other people?
Here is an "event" that happened to my cousin around 14 years ago while playing Pokémon Pearl. At exactly hour 60 (actually not sure about the hour anymore, but it was an exact one) he was in the Safari zone went a little bit into it and a Deoxys appeared. He couldn't catch it the first time, so he restarted the game and Deoxys appeared again at around the same place at the exact same hour. This time he could actually catch it. I was there when he restarted the game and Deoxys appeared. It was legit. Sadly nobody in the internet believed us back then and probably today you won't neither.
The only rare event I had happen to me was a wild Pokémon coming up to me when I set up the camp in SWSH ^^ it was a snom, which isn’t a rare Pokémon but an absolute cute one nonetheless
One time when I was about 7/8 I was playing my copy of Pokémon red in the car and when I went down the latter in diglet cave it started a encounter with a wild lapras. It was a lvl 15, I remember being so excited and screaming in the car to my dad, and then I realized I didn’t have any poke balls so I had to knock it out:(
1:50 I thought the master ball has a small chance of missing, especially on mewtwo because of the feature in gen one where sometimes you can miss your throw.
Can’t believe he didn’t mention another hard item to obtain in sun and moon and that being the kings rock which only two Pokémon can evolve with. You have to get a Pokémon with compound eyes and the ability frisk just to increase chances of getting kings rock from either slobro or Hariama and don’t get me started on metal coat!
When I was a kid playing gold for the first time I was surprised when I had an encounter with if I remember correctly a level 40 Pokémon after the first gym. I was going through the trail that leads to the cave that takes you to Bugsy’s town. I didn’t know it at the time but I ran into Entei way before I ever triggered the event at the burned tower. Really threw me off as a kid because I had no idea what was going on lol
wth same, but it was raikou. I also remember playing black and white and getting shiny thunderous after opening the game and running where the storm was, first encounter and it was the first time i picked up the game in 5 years lol.
Pretty sure in gold and silver you could only get one legendary dog and that was dependant on the starter you picked, but they were random wild encounters at any point in the game, I encountered an entei once in the second patch of grass you walk through in one of my playthroughs 😂
It goes even deeper than that, they can find 5 total I think? If you get all 5 on a Pokemon and take it to the rival, they'll make your Pokemon a little gold leaf crown out of it. I've only ever found 2 gold leaves but apparently there's a pretty consistent formula to farm them, but that kind of takes away from the magic haha
@@Quasartist i remember there being a specific way to get your pokemon to get these like running back in forth in specific grass for some reason or another (mabey where it was caught?) but i got mine all in one day lol
I've gotten a camp visitor in swsh before! I was really confused, because I'd never heard of it happening before, but it's only ever happened once despite me using the camp to heal my pokemon constantly on long hunts or grinding sessions. it was really neat having a little guy come up and join my party :D
Im surprised how many times I got mirage island as a kid. I legitimately thought it happened every week because I luckily got it 3 times over 3 weeks. My friends were confused and I just showed it to them one day. I did not know it was so rare back then.
when you said you didn't have 200k subscribers yet I was SHOCKED. idk how I didn't notice but I thought you had at least a few million!!!! I love your vids, keep it up!!! you def got a new subscriber:)
I will never forget my 1% shiny Dragonair on my original Fire Red. I charged my Gameboy all night that night and throughout school the next day on the catch screen so I could show my friend next door. I was able to show him luckily however; it fled.
personally i didn't know mirage island was suppose to be rare. I guess I was just lucky to always end up with an ID that triggered the island since almost every play through i did of Sapphire had the island show up.

Your jokes are lame

One event you missed is the "Good evening everybody good evening" during Halloween.
Would it be rarer in ruby/Sapphire to encounter two spindas with the same pattern ?
in pokemon blck and white if you defeat bianca when you just picked without taking any damage cheren will say something about power points, but the chance of defeating bianca damageless are so small, i think bulbapedia listed it as unused text, but i don't rememeber
When I first played Pearl when it came out, I had a Snorlax with Metronome and it actually called Dark Void! Easily the rarest thing to happen in any of my playthroughs because it would be a while until Darkrai was even in the game
Wow, experiencing what was basically an unreleased move at the time, that’s awesome!

My brother's player ID hit on the random radio show in silver for me, good times.
I also did the same in Sapphire but also hit the lotto on my Gold. I tried a lot in Crystal but never got it.
YOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
That's actually cool asf
I remember having a cheat code book and it said that if you beat the pokemon league 200 times then you would get the aurora ticket to fight deoxys. Needless to say I'm probably one of the few people who actually had all the dolls in Lorelei's house...
the big question, was it real? XD
Back in red there were rumours that if you had a level 100 nidoking, you'd get a cool surprise. Many many childhood hours later there was no surprise but I did have an absolute monster on my team.
Wow man that commitment on another level. I never knew about the pokedoll thing

Wow, and I thought I was lucky when I had a randomly assigned trainer ID of 00008 when I played through an older Pokémon game not too long ago.

So that's how I can get other hidden abilities pre gen 8.
That method about the hidden grottos was the ONLY way for me to catch Bagon. It's astounding.
I remember getting a dragonite in the hidden grotto. A 1% encounter Mon itself. Was so pleased I actually soft reset and used my masterball to get one with an adamant nature. As it was much more difficult to get competitive mons back then.
Still have that DD chilling in home to this day
I remember going to mirage island not even knowing it was such a rare event and leaving immediately since there was only a berry and a wynaut 😅
This has similar vibes to that one post about the dude resetting over a shiny mudkip lmao

Was confused by the next female Aron one not having red eyes.
Was a heck of a moment on the bus a few years later when I realized.
Pretty much lol, I just got the berry, caught a wynaut and dipped.
That sounds hilarious and like a nightmare
Dude that's crazy, there's so many funny things I didn't even know you could do in these games
This is why I'll never carry a castform with me. No weather loops for me thanks
It's not just Castform but Cherrim aswell due to its formchange in the sun.
Whoa that's actually kinda cool
This is something I learned about from a Smallant Pokémon run

Was confused and researched further and yeah apparently if you go to Zekrom/Reshiram with no Pokeballs but not a full PC it does not go to dragon spiral tower. Apparently there are plasma grunts in the castle that both teleport you to the league center and shop (though I do wonder if you have to retry the elite 4) and one that just gives you 1 ultra ball and will give more any time you have 0 ultra balls. But still seems convoluted
You could sweep the boss, but two grunts send you straight to the Pokémon center, lol.

1 in 2.38 × 10¹⁸
To put into context of how astronomically large that number is, here are the odds of finding a specific grain on sand on all the beaches of the world:
1 in 7.5 x 10¹⁸
You are three times as likely to find the specific grain of sand than you are that exact combination of Spindas

@@LaneyStudios5 well done man
@GlacierOasis actually made a mistake and didn't include gender

I remember watching that one video of the wild Phantump joining the team from the camp and I swear if I was still in any way interested in playing SwSh, I would be trying to fish for it. It's just too adorable.
So to my knowledge, in SwSh a caught pokemon can rarely have a title thing in their ribbon section when caught. This just changes what it says when they are sent out into battle, like if you catch a pokemon during the middle of the day, it will say "____ the peckish, I choose you"
The reason this is relevant is that if you cook curry and a pokemon joins you, it will have the 'curry connoisseur' title.
Doesn’t he give you just one Safari Ball too or am I remembering that wrong?
The glitch of being able to enter the Safari Zone with less than 500 bucks is in Yellow only, where the amount of balls you get is dependent on the amount of money you can pay.
This is only in Yellow, and he lets you through after the fourth attempt. You only get one ball to catch things with though.

I've got a theory that the Buizel quest in PLA was to teach you about random wild Alphas that just wasn't handled very well
Because I feel like the only way any of us got that quest out of our logbook, was with an alpha Buizel lmao
I feel like that's what I did - Too many NPC's to keep track of them all in your head lol
The Spiritomb sidequest is on par with Koroks lmao. I didn't even try, I just used a map. At this point, I feel like they almost expect you to use online maps for this type of collect-quest

It actually doesn't stay shiny; it reverts to a regular Ralts again the next time you battle him.
@@bluekiseki Yeah I checked and you're completely right. I must have conjured that memory from thin air
@@krumplin8992 yea its due to his pokemon being specifically scripted to a set per battle
9:15 this is crazy, im finishing my copy of pokemon x and i found an eviolite in the trash cans at the lost hotel! it happened a day before i saw this video or even knew how rare it was. if i had known, i would have taken a photo of the event! i only have 29 seen pokemon in my costal pokedex, and i havent even beat team flare yet, so i guess thats technically proof? but anyway, can confirm, it happened to me
And I thought never encountering a shiny in the wild was bad. Impressive stuff
you think that's bad? my first shiny(other than gyarados) was a zubat in gold/silver/crystal...my second shiny was a trainer-owned absol in the Battle Frontier, and my third was a golbat in Pearl . the takeaway being why me? At least I got to see a cool pink absol though XD
Only ever had one full odds shiny. It was a skarmory in omega ruby. Dident even realize it was shiny, I just decided to catch it for my team 😂
@@Zeekfox I randomly decided to run up on the wailord in the isle of armor one day, and wouldn't you know it, lo and behold
You're so positive and upbeat and cheerful! Great job!
That Buizel side quest being hard really surprised me XD
I had just caught the one buizel earlier in the game and just used that one. Worked first time, didn’t even know it was rare until people complained about it.
I think it took me like 12 buizel? I kept looking for large ones roaming around and got lucky.
Interestingly, the very first Buizel I had caught was already big enough, but it was one I was using on my main team at the time, so I waited until later when I happened to get another big enough Buizel after a ton of additional catches.
Same, I already had one but it was on my team so I went for another, and got one within 2 or 3 catches.
i couldn't find one taller than 2'7 till i beat the main story... 20+ buizels 2'7 and under
You guys DO realize you can just catch and give him an Alpha Buizel from Obsidian Fieldlands, right? I dont see how people didnt just try that.
ΩRαS is one of the best games in the series because of the infinitely renewable Lucky Eggs alone
Oh wow! I didn't t think getting Lucky Eggs in Gen 2 was that rare, I got one in both Gold and Crystal within an hour.
Me, who took literal months to find just one lucky egg in crystal: this is fine
I didn't even know lucky punch existed in the original games...
I thought the Lucky Egg wasn't introduced until Gen 3???
Has anyone else in G/S ever encountered the Professor Elm aid that gives you the Togepi egg in the Pokémon center just before the community cave instead of in violet city? It only happened to me once and it was on my first playthrough.
Doesn't he tell you to meet him at Violet City?
@@kylespevak6781 it might be diffrent in crystal?
I never realized the hiker thing was so rare in gen 3.
Happened to me all the time.
To put it into perspective, it's around 1% if I did the math right. So not that rare, I think most people just don't use the cable car a lot, I know I don't
Speaking of rare events, earlier my bro was in the Safari zone, encountered a shiny Nidorino and it flew, that sure was anti-climatic as hell
Bro you have reignited my deep love for this franchise. After Legends Arceus I became excited for the future of the game but YOU JPR have reignited my love more my old Pokemon games.
I want to join a battling/trading discord for the games can anyone help me out?
I'm so happy to hear that! As a matter of fact, you can join the Discord server in the video description if you're looking for help with battles and trading. Have a great day!
@@JPRPokeTrainer98 God bless bro. And keep up the great content for real
2:03 or they threw it at a trainers pokemon / lavender town ghost or something like that
They said I was crazy when I said I saw that hiker… Then again I’d call anyone crazy if they said they been to the mirage island in Gen 3
proud to say back in 2019-2020 i successfully hunted for mirage island and found 2 shiny wynaut there
One time when I was a kid in pokemon platinum, I pulled a max revive out of a trashcan in that beach town with the guy who blocks you from accessing sunnyshore
Hey cool video! I think for Fr/Lg, the rarest event would be finding a shiny 1% Dragonair in the safari zone (1/819,200 chance).
How about a shiny Chansey holding a Lucky Egg
It wasn't a shiny, but I DID find and catch a Dragonair in the LG Safari Zone two or so years ago!
Ive found mirage island once by complete accident when I was a kid and more recently I actually had one of the digging brother dig up a golden bottle cap, feels pretty cool knowing how insanely rare those are lol
@@l-I-I__Iool
Yeah but they're not '''the''' mirage island. It's not about the pokemon itself, just accessing what previously couldn't be.
@@BBWahoo That's the problem for me--the payoff wasn't worth the trouble in the originals. I'm actually glad i never wasted my youth looking for the original now that I know what little it has to offer.
@@l-I-I__Iool Yeah, but imagine if there actually _was_ something very useful on the island. You'd have to look for it for who knows how long _just_ to get that very useful thing. Imagine if Mirage Island was in ORAS and it had a Mega Stone for your favourite Pokemon on it.
@@robertlupa8273 How is that better than a lot of effort for very little reward? Good games are supposed to balance costs and benefits and in the case of the original mirage island the costs of finding it far outweigh the benefits of doing so. It also doesn't necessarily have to be a competitive reward awaiting you, like a megastone, and more like a rare but competitively prohibited pokemon like a mythical.
I once encountered Mirage Island but didn't know it was so rare. I was like what's do special anyway
I actually got a safari ball from the cram o matic when I was trying to get a moon ball. I didn’t know the odds until looking it up the next day and I was blown away!
You forgot one: Your Pokemon not hurting itself in its confusion while it's confused
I know shinies are cop outs, but in gen 1 specifically, I think it's okay to mention it, as you can actually find Pokémon that become shiny when sent to either Bank or GSC
pokemon from gen1 (mabey 2?) get their stats completley rerolled when they get sent to bank, however if sent straight to gen 2 then they stay the same
Gold Bottlecaps you say? Can't believe Sunset Sasparilla is popular even in Pokemon
I honestly thought the lucky egg was introduced in Gen 5, never knew it even existed in Gen 2
I saw a shiny Rhydon run past me on the Celestica Trail when I was doing the balloon quest in Coronet Highlands. I instantly stopped my run and went back to where I found it. Sure enough, it was there and I caught it. I didn't have the Shiny Charm.
Wow, I had no idea about the Lorelei dolls. I actually train a bunch of pokemon up to lv 100 in my spare time, and Fire Red's elite 4 is one of the better sources of XP, so I already have 12 of the 14 dolls. Just missing Lapras and the Pidgeot (Or Pidgeotto?)
I remember flying everyday to pacifidlog city to talk to the man as a kid. Hoping he would say that the island is here today. Didn't even know at that time if it was even possible or triggered with an event pass or something. Never saw it.
I thought mentioning spinda and it's pattern forms would've been something worth mentioning but then again... it's spinda
I’ve had an eggecutor appear in the first cave in red. My guess is there’s some memory leakage thing that might cause a bit to change, but it was cool to see
I ran into one in viridian forest as a child on Pokemon red. I've never read anyone else having it happen to them.
I actually have about 250 Hall of Fame wins in Pokémon Diamond. Sadly there's no reward for that besides the PC entries (which cap out at 30...).
If getting pokerus isn’t here… 👀
Played so much Pokémon in my life I’ve got it twice (as in billion EV training and got it thru random encounters not traded over one and infected a box)
And in Gen 4 SS and platinum 🔥
Same ones in moon and once in Berlient diamond
Nice, it’s definitely lucky to get! I got it twice as well; first in my Sapphire version back in the day and the second time in my Shield version.
Isn't it only a couple times rarer than getting a shiny?
I saw it more often as a kid than ever seeing a shiny, to the point I thought it was either scripted in each game or just common. Even today I keep getting it before seeing a shiny once lol
I actually got Pokerus twice in 1 year, both times on gen 3 games (emerald and ruby). I'm not sure if it's easier to get in hoenn but I was super surprised it happened once, much less twice. I think in total pokerus has happened to me about 5 times in my 20 years of playing 🤣
The first glitch is also called gen 1 miss in the speedrunning community as far as I'm aware.
Nice video, happy that you didnt stretch the video into oblivion and instead decided to give us great content packed into a 14 minute video!
I remember catching a munchlax from my first honey tree in pearl. Had no clue how rare it was, but was excited to be able to use snorlax!
6:13 He said: "So we'll stick with the 1/10,000, Why not?" When there is a Wynaut encounter in the grass... Is that supposed to be on purpose?
2:25
When I was a teenager I decided to start farming Chansey to get a lucky egg.
It took over 30 Chansey, I think around 35-40. For sure one full box of them. And then when I couldn't transfer it to the ds games I was devastated
It took me about 30 jangmo-o
So refreshing to see a Pokémon TH-camr with no room full of Pokémon decoration like some weirdo or a 5 year old
In black and white 2 imposter ditto had a 1% chance of spawning in the hidden grotto in giant chasm which given how tedious the hidden grotto mechanic was made the whole ordeal a massive pain.
As soon as I win the master ball lottery my dad will come home with the milk to tell me he's proud of me.
I had the Delibird encounter. Never knew it was so rare
its technically not rare cause its an animation on a kind of long loop cycle iirc
I have been to mirage island but have still only seen 1 shiny in all the years and generations of Pokémon I have played...
There is achievements if you do these types of things
its kind of just rewards for being very dilligent in the games nothing more than that really
The master ball prevents this glitch. It can’t miss
The ‘missing your throw’ text is the equivalent of the Poke Ball breaking without shaking once in later games.
@@flyingmelon46 No thats Firered leafgreen, in the old ones you could get all 3.
Just gotta say, I love the Jeff Gordan stuff in the backround. That's my boy!
For Heart Gold there’s this very rare event where the pokemon following you can have a golden leaf stuck on its face. It then shows in its bio
My ho-oh has a shiny leaf
Shiny Leaves for the Shiny Crown are based on your Pokémon's trainer ID so they're easily searchable
In my heartgold playthrough I rolled the trainer ID 00035 and I always wondered if it was possible to roll trainer ID 00000 too.
I happened to get it one day last year when I was just checking in my old save file from my childhood. It was so random and lucky
@@Iamyourboo2 thats a really fun id lol

I never thought that the mirage island was that rare. I've gotten to see it multiple times in different playthroughs.
And now it's impossible without modding your cartridge to have it's timer reset

Same with remoraid in diamond
