My wife and I have been playing on and off since launch. She's been a Maxwell main but she's recently tried Wendy and is absolutely loving it. Made day 54 tonight, our record by some margin!
When I played for the first time, I went straight to the 30th day. I was pretty proud of myself. Survival game is my thing. I didn't need to look up how to play a survival game. Just be in survival mode duh! I have tons of dried meat (rabbit meat). I marked down carrot (I tried to eat berry jam the entire autumn and didn't pull any carrot). I have thermal stone, rabbit ears, and 2 chest of firewood. Spend 1 thermal stone length per day to chop more wood and pick carrots, so I thought I would pass the winter with flying color. At that destined night, I heard something strange but I was like "I have fire on. I will not going anywhere. Just get a sleeping bag out and I will sleep through the scary night" Yeah, like we all know, Deerclop flattened my base. Can't describe the feelings I had at that time. This game is evil.
yeah i dont buy that at all. unless you watched preliminary guides. because if you went into it blind you would have no idea of the mechanics, madness, thermal stones, etc.

Even the pro-gamer who has been playing console since the age of 5 had a hard time avoiding tentacles in the marsh. But how did he tank bosses and avoid all the traps before? Answer: lacking of observation on "seem-to-be-normal" things. (It is like gamers won't notice there are quests if the game designers don't give items/npc spotlights.) The first thing you do (or I do) when start playing a new game is clicking on all the UI, items...everything on the screen and carefully read, observe, and figure out how they work. This is a part of the fun: figuring out how things work. Axe, pickaxe, science machine, thermal stone, fire, rabbit earmuffs...uh they are in the crafting menu duh! If I had known the game better, I would have dumbed the rabbits and gone straight for the beefalos and koalefant. Sanity is not a problem in autumn and winter, especially when you figured out every time you pick a flower, it went up and the internet hadn't told you "don't pick flowers" yet. Anyway, try to play an old game made in the old days when game design wasn't a study subject yet, and experience yourself how hard it was to figure out how those games work. No tutorials, no mentors/guides (guide books sometime sold separately), sometime no feedback. You just did something and wait, oh nothing happened, oh then move on. >>>Don't starve is not even a challenge in term of hidden information (try to read your character's comments on things. They are hints).
When I first played solo DS my biggest obstacle wasn't the cold, nor was it deerclops, it was the stupid red hound wave!!! I can't believe I couldn't deal with the hounds lol.
You explained S-tier perefectly. I'm an experienced DST player, I can kill all bosses with any character, but I don't like speedrunning the game at all. I like to take my time, build a base, farm some things, explore the ruins and the ocean calmly, etc. And that doesn't make me a bad player compared with speedrunning gods like Jakeyosaurus or CatPerson, we just play the game in different ways :)

Yeah you explained it very well for S tier, a few years ago I was obsessed with speedrunning and all that jazz and overdid it way too much to the point where killing a boss felt annoying when done too early since "id run out of content to engage in". Everytime I play with friends it's always the same speech : "I can kill this boss but too early and we're finished with the game first summer with CC then everyone gets bored and stops playing" Rushing in an aspect sounds cool but once you reach a point where you start noticing that the game doesn't have a lot of content if you have nothing to sink resources into, it gets very dry on content and you'll get stuck in a loop of resetting your world first year to kill all bosses again and again. And so thats why you don't see the 10,000 hours "gods" rushing all bosses because they want to make it enjoyable for themselves or for the ones they play with (I've singlehandedly ruined a server one time and that felt terrible lmao) I have mad respect for anyone who manages to keep a world upwards to 1000 days, whether good or bad player, that patience and how you find content even after this long is nuts
This is why I like playing with newer players and sticking to their pace instead, doing my best not to just carry them. Though it get annoying when said new player got DST after seeing all the boss rush videos so they want to just kill bosses all the time when they don't even know how to keep themselves fed...

I'm forever b tier. Back when I still played all I would do is build a ship and salvage sunken treasure. The loot's almost always garbage but I enjoyed doing it.

I’m between D and C and it was its charm… I mean, it’s beautiful to see people mastering things, but I play to chill. Even though the game is trying to push more fights, the game also give zero instruction and you have to discover by yourself by experimenting or opening wikis all the time, which is very time consuming. After a stressed day of work, sometimes I just want to take some berries and organize my camp.
From playing with a lot of new players on twitch I can say that there is a very big difference from shaving beef and killing mac. Other than that great vid :)
I love the idea but, as the time goes by and as you get better and better. Killing bosses have a huge impact on your gameplay, it drastically improves the quality of life when you know how to kill them (it maybe because of the loot or eliminating the threath altogether for ex. bearger, deerclops, and antlion), solo or not. So even if the game isn't all about killing bosses, it's definitely not 5%, maybe about 35%. 😊
This is a great tier list, summaries my dst journey. After reaching S tier i now mostly spend my days sitting in base chatting to people cus that's what i enjoy the most
This is a nice change of pace in dst tier lists since they're usually ranked by how easy a character is assuming you're experienced enough to survive with them, I'd imagine a skill based list based on how challenging each character is hich be the exact opposite of most lists but this one is better than I'd imagine.
I think I would be something between B and C, but for sure closer to C (due to me just starting to actually learn stuff since the past few weeks) I had DST for years , but was too dependent on my friend and hoping to learn from him. Well ,now I know that he himself actually doesn't know much about the game...

I think I’m a high C tier at the moment. The thing I really want to get good at to boost me up to B tier is clearing the ruins. I usually go to the caves solely for lightbulbs and leave (or maybe archives if I’m playing Wanda) but I’ve only ever attempted to make the trek to the ruins a few times. And I’ve never successfully been able to make something there and come back from it alive so… I’ve been practicing the ruins a lot. Hoping I can get better!
Maybe you can give it a shot as WX. Picking him makes it incredibly easy. And then once you got the hang of the ruins layouts and ancient guardian you can try it as a different character.
I recommend you use easier characters first. I was on the same stage as you so I moved on to play Wx and It was a breeze. Then I tried Ruins Rushing with Wolfgang and Wigfrid, and each It was easier. It's práctica chief!
As much as I realize it was to fit the spirit of being a new player, not canceling the shovel animation inflicted great mental anguish upon me. Take your like, you villain.
@@zekerdeath walking can cancel most animations, even attacking. Most of the time cancelling the attack animation doesn't matter though. Once you get the timing down, you'll have it consistent.
You might be kiting too far away from the nest. Moose goose ai gets torn between protecting babies and beating you up. Try kiting in a circle around the nest and the attack pattern is much more consistent. (4 attacks then honk)
S tier players in my mind, are the ones that can just kick back and do things, fight bosses, etc, as they desire. Relax and enjoy the game. No rush on anything.... But that's me...
i love this tier list from a survival rate prospective any character could what is needed in game it just depends on the skill level i feel thats what dst really is to me it isn't a game like factorio where my goal is to get massive amounts of resources i love the game as a bear grylls simulator my goal is just to see how long i can live even tho once you hit a certain point it becomes easy just remember all it takes is one mistake and its all gone
@@cafe9926 well if you wanna fight anything accurately you need lag compensation off. But how you do it is quite simple, the shadow goes to hit you but you hit it first while it’s in its animation, then retreat before it actually hits you, and then you hit it again after

This list is fair but even though im an S tier player, I haven't fought 3 raid bosses in the first 30 days in a while. I don't like speedrunning and I prefer playing efficiently, there are usually much more important things like finding lunar island or rushing ruins while you focus on exploring during autumn and not on gathering resources for boss fights. Only raid boss that i regularly kill before first winter is Dragonfly for scaled furnace. I do usually kill Klaus during the first winter and I used to focus on BQ before I started playing Wanda so that was another boss i used to fight before day 30. The reason I did sometimes kill 3 raid bosses in under 30 days is because it fit my playstyle and I never attempted a boss run before, I prefer playing on long term worlds and setting up my base while gathering the resources I want takes priority.
I know it is a little bit late comment but I share the same feelings. I usually kill Klaus and Dragonfly in my 30 days and don't see the point of fighting another one because there is so much other useful stuff to do.
i got little confused if AG is consider raid boss because how easy it is now, i didnt consider myself as S tier player, but i know i could easily do AG, dragon fly and klaus, maybe squeeze shadow boss and beequeen before day 30 as wolf gang but i much prefer play was warly and have other struggles.
What is considered a raid boss in those 30 days? Are we talking about beequeen, dragonfly, Klaus, ancient guardian, and twins? Would you even include eye of terror as one of those 3 if it’s so easy?
raid bosses are bosses that have lots of health and arent in singleplayer, this means bosses like eye of terror and ancient guardian arent really raid bosses, but bosses like klaus, dragonfly, twins of terror, and bee queen are
When I first started I chose Wilson because he looked cool, I decided to base at pig king and made it to day 30 using thermal stone and Winter Cap and beat Deerclops with low sanity and then realized I can eat cooked green caps. I also died to Krampus for misclicking on the Alchemy engine trying to get a present Spring came and it went well, until I frickin died to a Varg on day 42, revived at a touchstone and I figured out how to farm. Summer came, Someone joined my server and showed me that you can water your grass tuffs and saplings to hydrate them, then I made a small mini base in a cave. 2nd Autumn came and I finally grew some Giant Crops and reaped what I sowed. I didn't know what Bearger was at the time, so I didn't really worry about him. Found a Walking cane boon on day uh 120 or 200 and finally found Bearger, used him for logs. Decided to fight the Eye of Terror on day 240 and it took a few days to kill since the nights were short. Also I decorated my base My friend joined my server and took my nightmare fuel to make something and left the game with the fuel still in his inventory Then I stopped playing DST:CE for a while, then I went to see my world to just realize that it got frickin deleted for no reason so I made a new world which also got deleted. Then I made a newer world that I still have and I'm surviving on day 578 as WX-78 and I'm tamed a beefalo The main Crockpot dishes I know by heart is: Meatballs, Perogi, Meaty Stew, Jelly Salad, and Rabbit stew
Bull crap! You S! As long as you like this game, you are top on the list. No stress, relax and enjoy. This game is not about killing bosses, but about survival, building, then when comfortable, go take some challenges. I don't like this speed-run crap. I can do it, but never do. I like to kick back and build, clear the area, get rid of pests, deal with dogos, etc... I love getting my tooth traps set up. Biggest kick is getting a walking cane and a Tam first winter. Rest of the bosses, besides frog rain(good food but a pain), they can wait for me.... I won't be rushed...
I went from a player that couldn't survive spring, to easily defeating deerclops, purely because I went full tryhard on learning how to tame a beefalo. Beef is truly op in this game
No mather how fun it is to rush ruins, kill most of the bosses in the first year. I still prefer to take this game chill, make a base, explore the world, gather resources and thrive..
I feel like I'm somewhere beetween of Tier C and B, but I still haven't learned to transplant berry bushes to the base (I always think it's too resource intensive and time consuming to care for them rather than just leaving them as is). The same with grass. I'm just stockpiling tons of grass as emergency reserves. And I never destroy pigs home because they look like a non-renewable resource. For the same reason, I never collect wild carrots (this is like food for the most emergency, which, however, in my case never comes). However, this absolutely does not stop me from surviving for as many years as I like and deceiving seasonal bosses, instead of entering into battle when I don’t feel ready, having several spare specialized bases throughout the world for each season and memorizing fast travel through wormholes to escape from a dangerous chase and fast travel between bases.
I played as Wilson and i managed to get a shadow manipulator for my first time the day before winter and i made a mear effigy and life giving amulet at about mid winter, i made it through winter with rabbit earmuffs, a full beard and a thermal stone. That was my first time through winter💀 I did get a Tam o shatnter and walking cane and killed deerclops. Little time skip I'm on day 48 and almost done with spring(I made it through with a football helmet and umbrella bc deerclops' eye was accidently burnt earlier)
Ngl I started the game by ruins rushing because that's what yters were doing. I saw that and figured I was supposed to get cave loot first. It was a harsh learning curve, (especially dealing with the nightmare phase) but looking at this I'm glad I started there rather than the way some people do.
Wanna go from A-tier to D-tier quick ? Try playing the game in offline multiplayer on the switch. You literally cannot kite so you need to resort to Wendy (On beefalo) or Wurt for the long game and boss hunting. (And I say this as a Wolfgang main lol) I'm gonna see if Maxwell is viable with a beefalo.

@@dreadnought2024 I went into the game with a decent amount of knowledge, but no skill. Died to Deerclops because my kiting skills are subpar and I didn't have good weapons or much healing food. I'll do better next time.
As a still fairly new player to the game (d tier according to the vid) who plays Webber a lot, I got a few ideas as to why new players might like to go for Webber sometimes. 1: Webber is a spider so spiders are neutral to him unless he attacks them, this gives you one less mob to worry about so long as you don't provoke them. 2: Webber can eat monster meat/ recipes with monster meat without taking damage, this give you another solid sort of food early game. 3: If you camp near spider dens or plant spider eggs near your base, the spiders could be a decent defense system against hounds early in the run. Sure later on in a run they won't be that useful and there's better options, but early on when the hound attacks aren't too bad and you ain't got anything better it's better than nothing. Spiders can at least slow hounds down while you escape or if they're strong enough can handle the hounds for you. There are other benefits to using Webber, but these are the best reasons I can think of as to why a new/inexperience player might choose him starting off, assuming that the reason for some of them goes beyond just simply thinking he's just a neat character, cause a lot of new player just seem to think he's cool.
It is only a matter of time until an S tier player will start play with Uncompromising Mode and evolves to F or D tier on UM scale which is similar to vanilla scale but located right above it.
Me who’s B tier permanently because I never kill bearger in 1v1 yet always kill dragonfly before going to caves (I just like my morning wood from him running thru trees cause I hate chopping ;)
I'm an A tier Have played for 5? years, 400 hours in combined DS and DST I can rush ruins, killed guardian day 4, rushed fly But it's not really interesting I never killed celestial and hamlet bosses, toadstool too (didn't find a reason to) But i know that i just can do any of that anytime i want I hop into the game and chill. I prefer not cutting the edge but come to bosses prepared, having a built base to reduce the need of anything I download the game, survive for a year not noticing that, killing some bosses just for fun and delete it cause bored Then shipwrecked...a year again and nothing to do Then hamlet... Then adventure mode Then combining hamlet, shipwrecked and rog worlds and not playing them And deleting again Coming back in 6-8 month, repeat Yeah, so that's why i consider myself an A. Maybe not for skill or RUSHING (bruh, really?), but just for being a veteran and knowing the game exceptionally well I don't need lunar fruits at base, like ever. Only cutters. I never used thermal stone (except adventure mode). I don't tame beefalo just because. I don't come often to ruins, oftentimes visiting them after 2nd autumn (but I constantly lived in ruins 2 years ago, no difference). And i literally know nothing about fatming, cause i always have what i need. Never crafted weather vain. Yet still A
I only have a console and this game is quite difficult relaying on a ps5 controller. Lol! So easy to accidentally set your berry bushes on fire rather then fertilize.

Last real challange for me was brightshade. These mfs killed half of my 10 grass geeko. I pretty much forgot abt this shit and forgot to move my geekos away from grass and i rollbacked like 6 times to save couple of them.
I rush the ruins every time I start a new world, have solo'd bee queen, the shadow pieces, Klaus, and have gotten to a point I kill Dragonfly basically every time she spawns, and have made it to day 500 on a solo world with a single digit amount of deaths, but I'm still only a C tier player, because I've never killed Bearger without using other mobs to help. Guess I'm bad :/

Low A-tier here. Mainly because I just enjoy building empires more than I do bossing. Also because I love trying to beat bosses without actually fighting them.
Then that makes you an S tier! If you are playing this game how you want, then you are playing it top tier! There is no competition here. This game is for us to enjoy, not to stress over. I take my time, kill something when needed or desired. No rush....
Well I'am a Maxwell main. I don't rush ruins, bosses. I rush for bunnymen houses, archieve moonstones, and early manipulator. Killing bosses is good idea for 2nd autumn (no seasonal penalties) also clearing ruin in summer is greatest idea. Doing NF farms, unlimited healing and sanity(after I found moonquay island) foods make Max unstoppable. You can turn Wicker to make books can readable by Max, make otomatic boss farms with Winona then kill FW again and again for unlimited ruin resource and highest tier duelist damage .
When i was a kid for some reason i viewed don't starve as a pet simulator and always tried to get all the pets i possibly could, and always tried to raise a bunch of smallbirds.
I feel like how much you survived doesn't define your skill, i feel like i'm between c tier and d tier, but i never survived to the end of winter. I am decent at combat, know pretty much most things about the game because of the thing known as videos and wiki, heck, i almost killed dragonfly while playing maxwell with a stranger playing wurt, DRAGONFLY HAD 1000 HP LEFT! But my best record is like day 23-25. I am also a maxwell main because that's the character that makes combat against enemies i don't like super easy, just use shadow prison and shadow duelists and assist them in the battle.
Ok now you make me go back into the game and see if I can kill 3 raid bosses early game to see if by your standards in S or not Never really got into speedruning cause I always preferred building up slowly but i consider myself A to S tier... So I take this as a challenge

me too. 我同样喜欢慢慢建立我的基地，但是我不擅长打boss，尽管我已经玩了有700多个小时了。大多数时间是在移植和建家而不是外出探索世界和打怪兽。

This is why I like playing with newer players and sticking to their pace instead, doing my best not to just carry them. Though it get annoying when said new player got DST after seeing all the boss rush videos so they want to just kill bosses all the time when they don't even know how to keep themselves fed...

I’m between D and C and it was its charm… I mean, it’s beautiful to see people mastering things, but I play to chill. Even though the game is trying to push more fights, the game also give zero instruction and you have to discover by yourself by experimenting or opening wikis all the time, which is very time consuming. After a stressed day of work, sometimes I just want to take some berries and organize my camp.
When playing with friends, having someone who plays chill and takes care of the base is such a blessing!
tbh just play however you want as long as you enjoy it, i played willow on rog for over 200 days mostly just chilling my base and having fun innit
From playing with a lot of new players on twitch I can say that there is a very big difference from shaving beef and killing mac. Other than that great vid :)

very nice vid but killing bosses is just 5% of dst. to become a god you have to master the bosses and then learn the 95% of the rest of the game.
I love the idea but, as the time goes by and as you get better and better. Killing bosses have a huge impact on your gameplay, it drastically improves the quality of life when you know how to kill them (it maybe because of the loot or eliminating the threath altogether for ex. bearger, deerclops, and antlion), solo or not. So even if the game isn't all about killing bosses, it's definitely not 5%, maybe about 35%. 😊

This is a nice change of pace in dst tier lists since they're usually ranked by how easy a character is assuming you're experienced enough to survive with them, I'd imagine a skill based list based on how challenging each character is hich be the exact opposite of most lists but this one is better than I'd imagine.

I think I’m a high C tier at the moment. The thing I really want to get good at to boost me up to B tier is clearing the ruins. I usually go to the caves solely for lightbulbs and leave (or maybe archives if I’m playing Wanda) but I’ve only ever attempted to make the trek to the ruins a few times. And I’ve never successfully been able to make something there and come back from it alive so… I’ve been practicing the ruins a lot. Hoping I can get better!
Maybe you can give it a shot as WX. Picking him makes it incredibly easy. And then once you got the hang of the ruins layouts and ancient guardian you can try it as a different character.
I recommend you use easier characters first. I was on the same stage as you so I moved on to play Wx and It was a breeze. Then I tried Ruins Rushing with Wolfgang and Wigfrid, and each It was easier. It's práctica chief!

@@zekerdeath walking can cancel most animations, even attacking. Most of the time cancelling the attack animation doesn't matter though. Once you get the timing down, you'll have it consistent.

You might be kiting too far away from the nest. Moose goose ai gets torn between protecting babies and beating you up.
Try kiting in a circle around the nest and the attack pattern is much more consistent. (4 attacks then honk)
S tier players in my mind, are the ones that can just kick back and do things, fight bosses, etc, as they desire. Relax and enjoy the game. No rush on anything.... But that's me...
i love this tier list from a survival rate prospective any character could what is needed in game it just depends on the skill level i feel thats what dst really is to me it isn't a game like factorio where my goal is to get massive amounts of resources i love the game as a bear grylls simulator my goal is just to see how long i can live even tho once you hit a certain point it becomes easy just remember all it takes is one mistake and its all gone

@@cafe9926 well if you wanna fight anything accurately you need lag compensation off. But how you do it is quite simple, the shadow goes to hit you but you hit it first while it’s in its animation, then retreat before it actually hits you, and then you hit it again after

This list is fair but even though im an S tier player, I haven't fought 3 raid bosses in the first 30 days in a while. I don't like speedrunning and I prefer playing efficiently, there are usually much more important things like finding lunar island or rushing ruins while you focus on exploring during autumn and not on gathering resources for boss fights.
Only raid boss that i regularly kill before first winter is Dragonfly for scaled furnace. I do usually kill Klaus during the first winter and I used to focus on BQ before I started playing Wanda so that was another boss i used to fight before day 30. The reason I did sometimes kill 3 raid bosses in under 30 days is because it fit my playstyle and I never attempted a boss run before, I prefer playing on long term worlds and setting up my base while gathering the resources I want takes priority.
I know it is a little bit late comment but I share the same feelings. I usually kill Klaus and Dragonfly in my 30 days and don't see the point of fighting another one because there is so much other useful stuff to do.
i got little confused if AG is consider raid boss because how easy it is now, i didnt consider myself as S tier player, but i know i could easily do AG, dragon fly and klaus, maybe squeeze shadow boss and beequeen before day 30 as wolf gang but i much prefer play was warly and have other struggles.
What is considered a raid boss in those 30 days? Are we talking about beequeen, dragonfly, Klaus, ancient guardian, and twins? Would you even include eye of terror as one of those 3 if it’s so easy?

When I first started I chose Wilson because he looked cool, I decided to base at pig king and made it to day 30 using thermal stone and Winter Cap and beat Deerclops with low sanity and then realized I can eat cooked green caps. I also died to Krampus for misclicking on the Alchemy engine trying to get a present
Spring came and it went well, until I frickin died to a Varg on day 42, revived at a touchstone and I figured out how to farm.
Summer came, Someone joined my server and showed me that you can water your grass tuffs and saplings to hydrate them, then I made a small mini base in a cave.
2nd Autumn came and I finally grew some Giant Crops and reaped what I sowed. I didn't know what Bearger was at the time, so I didn't really worry about him.
Found a Walking cane boon on day uh 120 or 200 and finally found Bearger, used him for logs.
Decided to fight the Eye of Terror on day 240 and it took a few days to kill since the nights were short. Also I decorated my base
My friend joined my server and took my nightmare fuel to make something and left the game with the fuel still in his inventory
Then I stopped playing DST:CE for a while, then I went to see my world to just realize that it got frickin deleted for no reason so I made a new world which also got deleted.
Then I made a newer world that I still have and I'm surviving on day 578 as WX-78 and I'm tamed a beefalo
The main Crockpot dishes I know by heart is: Meatballs, Perogi, Meaty Stew, Jelly Salad, and Rabbit stew
I was expecting a character tier explanation judging by the thumbnail not a player progression tier. It's confusing.
Simple advice, play with 1 character 10 times, that character automatically will become the best character, all character are well balanced.

This game is not about killing bosses, but about survival, building, then when comfortable, go take some challenges.
I don't like this speed-run crap. I can do it, but never do. I like to kick back and build, clear the area, get rid of pests, deal with dogos, etc... I love getting my tooth traps set up. Biggest kick is getting a walking cane and a Tam first winter. Rest of the bosses, besides frog rain(good food but a pain), they can wait for me....

No mather how fun it is to rush ruins, kill most of the bosses in the first year. I still prefer to take this game chill, make a base, explore the world, gather resources and thrive..
I feel like I'm somewhere beetween of Tier C and B, but I still haven't learned to transplant berry bushes to the base (I always think it's too resource intensive and time consuming to care for them rather than just leaving them as is). The same with grass. I'm just stockpiling tons of grass as emergency reserves.
And I never destroy pigs home because they look like a non-renewable resource. For the same reason, I never collect wild carrots (this is like food for the most emergency, which, however, in my case never comes).
However, this absolutely does not stop me from surviving for as many years as I like and deceiving seasonal bosses, instead of entering into battle when I don’t feel ready, having several spare specialized bases throughout the world for each season and memorizing fast travel through wormholes to escape from a dangerous chase and fast travel between bases.
I think I’m a high c tier lol, idk I just feel anxious doing a raid boss fight or rushing ruins

I played as Wilson and i managed to get a shadow manipulator for my first time the day before winter and i made a mear effigy and life giving amulet at about mid winter, i made it through winter with rabbit earmuffs, a full beard and a thermal stone. That was my first time through winter💀 I did get a Tam o shatnter and walking cane and killed deerclops. Little time skip I'm on day 48 and almost done with spring(I made it through with a football helmet and umbrella bc deerclops' eye was accidently burnt earlier)

Ngl I started the game by ruins rushing because that's what yters were doing. I saw that and figured I was supposed to get cave loot first. It was a harsh learning curve, (especially dealing with the nightmare phase) but looking at this I'm glad I started there rather than the way some people do.

You literally cannot kite so you need to resort to Wendy (On beefalo) or Wurt for the long game and boss hunting. @@dreadnought2024 I went into the game with a decent amount of knowledge, but no skill. Died to Deerclops because my kiting skills are subpar and I didn't have good weapons or much healing food. I'll do better next time.
I've noticed most F tier players seem to play as Webber for some reason.
As a still fairly new player to the game (d tier according to the vid) who plays Webber a lot, I got a few ideas as to why new players might like to go for Webber sometimes.
1: Webber is a spider so spiders are neutral to him unless he attacks them, this gives you one less mob to worry about so long as you don't provoke them.
2: Webber can eat monster meat/ recipes with monster meat without taking damage, this give you another solid sort of food early game.
3: If you camp near spider dens or plant spider eggs near your base, the spiders could be a decent defense system against hounds early in the run. Sure later on in a run they won't be that useful and there's better options, but early on when the hound attacks aren't too bad and you ain't got anything better it's better than nothing. Spiders can at least slow hounds down while you escape or if they're strong enough can handle the hounds for you.
There are other benefits to using Webber, but these are the best reasons I can think of as to why a new/inexperience player might choose him starting off, assuming that the reason for some of them goes beyond just simply thinking he's just a neat character, cause a lot of new player just seem to think he's cool.

I don't need lunar fruits at base, like ever. Only cutters. I never used thermal stone (except adventure mode). I don't tame beefalo just because. I don't come often to ruins, oftentimes visiting them after 2nd autumn (but I constantly lived in ruins 2 years ago, no difference). And i literally know nothing about fatming, cause i always have what i need. Never crafted weather vain.

Last real challange for me was brightshade. These mfs killed half of my 10 grass geeko. I pretty much forgot abt this shit and forgot to move my geekos away from grass and i rollbacked like 6 times to save couple of them.
I rush the ruins every time I start a new world, have solo'd bee queen, the shadow pieces, Klaus, and have gotten to a point I kill Dragonfly basically every time she spawns, and have made it to day 500 on a solo world with a single digit amount of deaths, but I'm still only a C tier player, because I've never killed Bearger without using other mobs to help.

Well I'am a Maxwell main. I don't rush ruins, bosses. I rush for bunnymen houses, archieve moonstones, and early manipulator. Killing bosses is good idea for 2nd autumn (no seasonal penalties) also clearing ruin in summer is greatest idea. Doing NF farms, unlimited healing and sanity(after I found moonquay island) foods make Max unstoppable. You can turn Wicker to make books can readable by Max, make otomatic boss farms with Winona then kill FW again and again for unlimited ruin resource and highest tier duelist damage .

I feel like how much you survived doesn't define your skill, i feel like i'm between c tier and d tier, but i never survived to the end of winter.
I am decent at combat, know pretty much most things about the game because of the thing known as videos and wiki, heck, i almost killed dragonfly while playing maxwell with a stranger playing wurt, DRAGONFLY HAD 1000 HP LEFT! But my best record is like day 23-25. I am also a maxwell main because that's the character that makes combat against enemies i don't like super easy, just use shadow prison and shadow duelists and assist them in the battle.
Ok now you make me go back into the game and see if I can kill 3 raid bosses early game to see if by your standards in S or not
