The most important lesson that I have learned in my first few games is: Do not go for the secondaries that you can potentially max, rather go for the ones that give you guaranteed ~10 points, even though you may not be able to max them.
Where We Stand We Fight can be really strong with specific vehicle squadrons. I use it in my Deathguard list where a myphitic Blight Hauler (in a squad of 3) a daemon prince of Nurgle, and a lord of contagion are my three most expensive models. The characters as tough and fighty and getting rid of the blight hauler means chewing through 24 T7 wounds with a 4++ and 5+++ and -1 to hit with psychic backup.
Thanks! Was looking forward to this. Had a Hard Time to Choose then in my Last Games. But in General i think this is awesome just so that every Army can have at least some was to Score points that they can choose and Matches their playstyle and tactics
In general all secondaries are pretty hard. I've watched quite a few batreps over the last few weeks and it is rare that I have seen a secondary maxed out. Titan slayer might be the one exception as long as you have decent heavy weaponry.
How about Astral Aim + Gate on a unit a Paladines, that get sent near the opponents table edge T1, then cast Pierce the veil, while shooting from cover?
I feel that Psychic ritual could be pretty achievable with someone like Eisenhorn. As an Ordo xenos Inquisitor he gains access to psychic veil, and can use two powers a turn, stick him a Transport with a bodyguard unit (preferably something with enough durability and melee clout to weather a counter charge) and you can keep him pretty safe with the psychic veil power and careful positioning whilst he carries out the ritual. You can us his radical re rolls to try and ensure those psychic tests are as hard as possible to deny as well. Definitely something I’ll considering, as I normally run an Inquisitor in most games with my sisters.
@@swillsswil4817 good spot. Completely misread that. Blame the dyslexia. Bit annoying. Probably better with a cheapo inquisitor and using veil when the bodyguard unit wipes to keep them safe until a new one can rush in.
Long board sides deployment vs an opponent that can't cover the whole board (custodes) will be a situation where the secondaries in enemy deployment zones is most chance of completion..
I strongly suspect most groups and gang of friends suspend the 'painted army' bonus as a house rule. Here we are trying to collect new models and reconfigure our armies to adapt to 9th edition and you are going to punish the slowest painters in the group? Yes it is fine and maybe even desirable for a major tournament. Most of those are prepared for well in advance. But if I am playtesting a new concept I should not be declared the loser between me and my friend because he beat me by 5-9 points and that was due to his army being painted and my army having unpainted elements.
If someone wins by less than 10 because of the painted rule we all know who really won, let them have their high horse if they are so emotionally fragile to need it. I believe the main reason for the painted thing is for making it easier for your opponent to see the detachment / chapter / hive fleet etc of the units so they don't make a mistake because the didnt notice the grey plastic plasma gun because it wasn't bright blue paint etc
Winning and losing doesn't really matter outside of a tournament or league anyway. The point of testing or pickup games imo (besides just passing time) is to figure out what worked, and it's not hard to figure out that unpainted is a suboptimal strat. I expect everyone I'd be interested in playing against won't even think about them outside of tournament/league settings. If they're upset about them/me missing points, they should work out their life a bit
How are points calculated for Assassinate? If you kill a character that can revive, and then kill that character again, do you get the points both times or just the final time?
I prefer to *HURT//MAIM//KILL * I think Assassinate will be strong contender, as there is shift to Elite being secondary character slot with many cheap buff characters.
The downsides is the psyker cant cast anything else that turn and most lists will be running a few denys and if you take that they will save their deny for it, so risky.
The problem with the "Raise the Banners" one is you cant have multiple units perform the same action, and its an action to raise that banner. Thats T1 = 1pt, T2 = 2pts, T3 = 3pts and beyond that isnt realist to expect points per turn. So assuming none of them got sniped from you, start of T4 you should have 6pts from it. Start of T5, 9pts, end of the game 12pts. Thats pretty lousy. Unless you managed to snag a 4th objective and NEVER LOSE ONE for all 5 turns, its pretty low points. The sheer fact they can be taken down is the issue, and its not an action to take it down either. Any hyper-fast unit will easily steal it from you unless you got some pretty rude stuff parked on each one, and most armies simply cant do that. On top of all that, if you arent a highly mobile army you probably arent getting 3 banners raised by T3.
kharn the betrayer O, for narrative I say go for it. Even for matched play theirs perfectly fine rules for it, and it’s definitely very fun, however tournaments will continue to be 2k.
Since "Thin" counts models you get to count the re-animated Necrons if they are destroyed again. "Attrition" is units, so you have to kill an entire unit.
Do you have any hope that Tempestus Scion regiments will see Fast attack and Heavy support choices in 9th as they are currently locked out of certain detachments without losing cp or regimental traits?
They could pick up the Drop Sentinal rules from the Elysians - add BS 3+, and increase points. Not sure about heavy support. Maybe some kind of light vehicle that carries the taurox prime weapons. Or a Scion engineer squad with access to meltabombs or demolition charges.
@@LewisF451 hell I'd settle for the regular scout sentinels being made available to the Scions. As for heavy support I think you're right with a scion demolition team sort of thing allowing them to take crewed weapons, well a man can dream at least. I also really want them to let scions take sniper rifles it is so stupid that they can't.
Titan Slayer really is a giant FU to Knights lists. Wouldn't be so bad if it was, say, 7/12/15, but as it stands, even the least-killy armies can probably take down at least ONE knight over the course of the game if they have the incentive, which means it's a free 10 VP just for playing against Knights, and most armies will be able to get 15 unless the dice really turn against them.
Yeah, Knights are in a tough spot at the moment. But I'm sure they'll address this. The designers sadly overestimate the super-heavies at the moment, see Baneblades.
Ive found "we stand, we fight" secondary rather useful when running dreads. Unless your opponent just blows off their own mission and secondaries to focus them down, Leviathan Dreads are really hard to shift. Likewise, ive learned that Linebreaker is a lot easier than most people realize with Drop Pods. We just had a small and safe event st our local shop and i got a good 6 or so games in prior to. I normally take the gamble and drop a Leviathan or 2 with grav bombard and drill in the enemies backlines after i use mortis Contemptors to make a hole. Ive also noticed that players have been giving up counter drop deployment for mission objective, this giving my massive 4 poind resin football a hole anyways. A friend of mine did 2 pods with grav dev squads and reaped the rewards of 8 grav cannons in the opponents backline.
The strength, which people will exploit I hope, is to bury objectives in overlapping units. It is why all the early projections of Tyranids and Orks doing poorly will be misplaced as we go along in this edition.
I really love your videos. If a can give some critic to you, I think sometimes you speak a little to fast, it gets hard to understand. And maybe to many words per writen point. Keep doing that great work 💪🏻
Yes, you can. The "Raise" rules clearly state "one or more..." Basically, raising a banner is a unique action on each objective if you're thinking the Action rules limit to 1.
