I have never in my entire life seen someone sit so solid and not leave the saddle once, with a horse throwing shapes like that! I need lessons in how to become super glued to the saddle no matter what 😂
Ride bareback with one rain. The problem I see with so many English writers is that they are bracing themselves through the rains. They have no real balance at all. And they get dumped real fast.
i have to say I'm impressed with the composition and stickability! Especially when he went sideways and then did those two huge rears. You could tell from his body language that he was letting of huge amounts of "go" and probably frustration at all the changes. This may not be something a traditional british rider would immediately reach for but natural horsemanship/groundwork could have also resolved that (Steve Young springs to mind - has a channel here too. I've never seen such expertise and compassion combined. He brings horses back from the absolute brink in a matter of hours) But it seems like you found your own way and if you can sit out those bucks then I guess it worked! Well done with your combined achievements. A beautiful looking horse.
I agree!! Great horsemanship. Beautiful seat on that horse despite all his antics. He stays calm, does not lose his temper and just keeps the horse moving forward. Well done!
Wow, incredible riding! The horse looked as though he had springs for legs! He still looked graceful as he let off steam, and his ears were pricked and interested. Even with my limited knowledge I know horses in pain or discomfort do not respond like this!
He might be objecting to the draw reins and being held into a tight frame before he has warmed up and stretched enough. He Is being ridden somewhat behind the bit and it is a cooler day.
I think you should get on and give it a go, heck he would probably never buck if he was ridden bareback and bridleless! Go on and show us how it’s done! 😂
@@Bluemoonfarm17I would get him back into training by starting with lots of regular groundwork. Then I'd add quiet hacking with a sensible companion before riding in the school where I would start on a long rein in a relaxed walk. It's clear this horse has been pushed too fast into resuming normal work. It needs to go back to basics and introduced slowly back into work and done properly, no reason he couldn't go bareback and bridleless.
@@sarahwagland1559 I agree with all you said here. However, apparently the rider was pushing this horse to return to work so quickly because he says in the description under the video that he hopes to compete with this horse in the Paris Olympics, so he was in a hurry to rush back into training when the horse's injury healed. I agree with your approach, Sarah.
Excitement, or just another horse sick of having its mouth constantly yanked on. Anyone with eyes and a shred of intelligence can see the obvious. But the equestrian community will say "Look how happy that horse is, he's saying , more please, pull harder, force my chin on to my chest, I love it". I used to think farmers and hunters were the cruest people on the planet, but watching many equestrians, I think they take that prize
Want a really good seat ride Bareback alot. I rode bareback alot of basically nothing can make me fall out the saddle. I stay glued to the saddle. Even when my horse was doing little rears and Napping and running forward i never moved and that was bareback
Regardless of reasons from horse perspective... as going to trust such a rider knows their horse well enough to know. That's an amazing seat. Wow! Maybe when I was 18 years old many many moons ago I could stay on such moves... glued to saddle with balance & still reins. -- I miss being able to ride, but have put up my saddle & keep feet on the ground. Takes strength & balance & skills that I no longer possess. Very nice Mr. Scala.
did he do any groundwork with the horse before saddling the horse? Is it a good idea to directly go back to saddle with this bucking horse before doing sufficient ground work?
So many horses are abused, treated inhumanely, and taken advantage of. It is sickening. This horse is CLEARLY uncomfortable/in pain. Why the f**k do so many riders weigh their horses down with strangling, super constricting, and painful reins/bits? I really feel for these amazing animals...by far the most abused of all the animals in the world! 💔💔
Assuming you know what you’re talking about, what would you suggest for a highly stung athlete with major ligament damage? Anything except very careful and limited exercise would result in further damage and therefore lifelong lameness. Thankfully this horse returned to top level competition making the Olympic squad long list and is aiming for his first 5* at the end of the year. And no, he doesn’t crib, he just loves cuddles. 😊👍
@fsequine1 I encourage you to look up painted desert ranch on TH-cam, go to their Playlist called Czar and watch the videos of his injury and recovery. He was never locked away in a stall experiencing solitary confinement and he maintained his ability to actually be a horse during/despite his injury. It's not good to keep horses indoors in a BOX for 16 months is all I'm saying. Being locked away changes humans why the f wouldn't it change animals too
It sounds like your imagining box rest to be some sort of solitary confinement, your mistaken. Box rest consists of the horse resting to avoid further injury, this doesn’t mean he is locked in a stable for the duration. Horses on box rest are given as much time out of the stable as possible by way of hand walking and hand grazing. It’s a painstaking and often dangerous task as often competition horses are explosive when not in full training. I’m sure you would be surprised if you spent some time on a yard the amount of care that goes into the horses. Rather than trying to save the world one shitty TH-cam comment at a time, perhaps you should get off the sofa and go volunteer in a professional environment so you learn a few things. If you want an opinion it might be worth at least knowing what terms like “Box rest” mean before wrongly assuming.
REALLY hope the horse was allowed to be turned out after 18 mos of box rest. Going straight from stall to saddle would be cruel and unusual punishment!
Why allow them to do this crap? This is a genuine question… Someone could get seriously hurt from this, and it’s easily corrected! You did an amazing job sitting it though, looks very difficult.
Metal in the horses mouth, flash nose band to prevent horse from avoiding pain from metal in the mouth, draw reins to keep horse from pulling his head up and to prevent him pulling the reins from the riders hand-oh, but he pat the horse on the neck at the end of the video so that must mean he loves it! The equestrian community is such a joke.
