I can't even begin to tell you how much of a superfan I am. Dimash is a 26 year old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance of SOS on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. The performance you reacted to. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but that performance has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard even through the show had professional artists. His life basically changed overnight. Dimash has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :). As far as to what to listen to next, he sings pretty much all genres. He incorporates many different styles (mostly classical) into different songs or covers. A lot of superfans would suggest you watch the "evolution" of him from all his performances on The Singer series in China in 2017. I don't care about that personally so I would suggest something more modern for you like "Across Endless Dimensions". No not chinese Family living in Kazakhstan, he was the only Wildcard Contestant and this was his first Live Performance on this Show, before this he was totally unknown to the Audience! Now he is a Megastar in China. But he is a Kazakh, and speaks natively Kazakh and Russian. Dear Cynthia, this song earned him recognition but he has a lot after that and he surprises all the time. This show was in China and Dimash was the first foreigner invited to compete against professionals as an unknown Wildcard. And you were close saying every key on the piano because he can go off the piano. Check out a song he composed as a teenager but only the correct location. Correction. Dimash was not the only foreigner invited here. He was the first and only non Chinese foreigner invited here. There are many other foreign Chinese on this show.....meaning Chinese from Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.

In previous seasons many foreign singers were invited including Shila Amzah, a Malay singer from Malaysia (season 2014) as well as many other Chinese singers from Taiwan, Malaysia, HK, even South Korean singers....in every season....there's foreigners invited.....first season was in 2012.

You guys just stumbled on the best and most fascinating vocalist on the planet. I think you just got a hint of what Dimash is capable of. Yes, he can hit every key in the piano...and beyond (D8)! But beside his range and control, he can sing in 12 languages, is super humble, can and does sing almost every genre of music (well!), and uses possibly the greatest number of singing techniques and tones of voice to have the listener have just about any emotion he wants them to have. He has so many masterpieces that it will be tough to recommend just one song though most people listen to Sinful passion next. It was a reality show called Singer, and it was in China. Dimash was invited to the show as a wildcard. He is Kazakh and from Kazakhstan (not Chinese), was the youngest, and a foreigner on the show. He was not know in China at the time, but this performance went viral overnight with 600 million watching it on Weibo.When he is asked about his vocal range he says it doesn't matter, what matters is the listener feels the song he is singing. You have yet to see what Dimash can do.

This was the first night of the Chinese competition show - The Singer - in 2017. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers would compete. But as Dimash had won several Kazakhstan contests, he was invited to compete as a wild card. As this was his first performance and being an unknown, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. The next day, he had 600 million hits on Weibo (China’s Instagram)... and the rest, as they say, is history.

ALL of us, when we first discovered Dimash, were amazed we hadn’t heard of him before!! Such REMARKABLE talent!! One reason is that he just STARTED studying English (and Chinese) in 2017-2018. But mistly because he wanted to control his music so didn’t sign with a record label or professional promoters. He did JUST sign with a label in NJ. Hope they’ll do a great job promoting him. You have just experienced the best singer/performer in the world. I call him the Vocal Contortionist, he does things with his voice that should not be humanly possible especially for a male. But beyond his 6+ octave range, pitch perfect runs everytime it's his ability to emote that gets me. He transports you when he sings...in at least 12 languages. He's a once in centuries artist and I feel blessed I'm alive at the same time, I've been watching and listening to everything I can for over a year and 1/2, this was the first thing I saw and he just keeps getting better. Congratulations on your reaction, Dimash is a very humble and simple boy, for what i have read and seen he highly appreciates his roots and exposes them when he can in his presentations. He is very respectful of everyone and kind. He was competing in The World´s Best in 2019 but he retired. This caused annoyance in Rupaul but Dimash was more concerned with leaving the little ones that competed with him frustrated and seeing the level and quality that he has, he would very likely have won.

I’ve seen this so many times and I just keep thinking…imagine, this was performance #1, on the first night of competition. Against professional singers with established music careers. Nobody knew him, but by the end of that performance he was theirs. He woke THE NEXT MORNING to 600 million subscribers on Weibo (like Twitter) and needed security from then on to even get anywhere in China. He deserves it all-what a phenomenal artist. Dimash is not Chinese. The competition was joined by many out of country singers including from Korea, Japan, Russia and Jessie J, who of course is British.
Dimash is a phenomenon, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100%. His range is over 6 octaves (7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 ( not on the piano) for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place went to the famous Chinese 51 y/o singer Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. This competition are for established prodessional singers who are already popular in China though not all of them are from China. Dimash was the exception here. He was the only non-Chinese , he an unknown in China and was invited by the producer of Singer 2017 as a wildcard experiment entree. All participants are by INVITATIONS ONLY. Dimash STUNNED China and everyone one the show with this ICONIC performance. First day broadcast of this performance garnered more than 600 millions views on China's Weibo ALONE. (Weibo is China's equivalent to TH-cam/Instagram). Dimash became an overnight celebrity that needed bodyguards to move around in China.

Dimash is a 26 year old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance of SOS on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. The performance you reacted to. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but that performance has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard even through the show had professional artists. His life basically changed overnight. Dimash has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :).
As far as to what to listen to next, he sings pretty much all genres. He incorporates many different styles (mostly classical) into different songs or covers. A lot of superfans would suggest you watch the "evolution" of him from all his performances on The Singer series in China in 2017. I don't care about that personally so I would suggest something more modern for you like "Across Endless Dimensions". If you care to hear the most vocally life changing thing, I'd suggest "Sinful Passion". Feel free to subscribe to his official youtube channel!

This show was in China and Dimash was the first foreigner invited to compete against professionals as an unknown Wildcard. And you were close saying every key on the piano because he can go off the piano. Check out a song he composed as a teenager but only the correct location. Correction. Dimash was not the only foreigner invited here. He was the first and only non Chinese foreigner invited here. There are many other foreign Chinese on this show.....meaning Chinese from Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.

You guys just stumbled on the best and most fascinating vocalist on the planet. I think you just got a hint of what Dimash is capable of. Yes, he can hit every key in the piano...and beyond (D8)! But beside his range and control, he can sing in 12 languages, is super humble, can and does sing almost every genre of music (well!), and uses possibly the greatest number of singing techniques and tones of voice to have the listener have just about any emotion he wants them to have. He has so many masterpieces that it will be tough to recommend just one song though most people listen to Sinful passion next. If you don't want to short change yourself, this will be the first of many Dimash videos. He was not know in China at the time, but this performance went viral overnight with 600 million watching it on Weibo.When he is asked about his vocal range he says it doesn't matter, what matters is the listener feels the song he is singing. You have yet to see what Dimash can do.

This was the first night of the Chinese competition show - The Singer - in 2017. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers would compete. But as Dimash had won several Kazakhstan contests, he was invited to compete as a wild card. As this was his first performance and being an unknown, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. The next day, he had 600 million hits on Weibo (China’s Instagram)... and the rest, as they say, is history.

ALL of us, when we first discovered Dimash, were amazed we hadn’t heard of him before!! Such REMARKABLE talent!! One reason is that he just STARTED studying English (and Chinese) in 2017-2018. But mistly because he wanted to control his music so didn’t sign with a record label or professional promoters. He did JUST sign with a label in NJ. Hope they’ll do a great job promoting him.

You have just experienced the best singer/performer in the world. I call him the Vocal Contortionist, he does things with his voice that should not be humanly possible especially for a male. But beyond his 6+ octave range, pitch perfect runs everytime it's his ability to emote that gets me. He transports you when he sings...in at least 12 languages. He's a once in centuries artist and I feel blessed I'm alive at the same time, I've been watching and listening to everything I can for over a year and 1/2, this was the first thing I saw and he just keeps getting better. Congratulations on your reaction, Dimash is a very humble and simple boy, for what i have read and seen he highly appreciates his roots and exposes them when he can in his presentations. He is very respectful of everyone and kind. He was competing in The World´s Best in 2019 but he retired. This caused annoyance in Rupaul but Dimash was more concerned with leaving the little ones that competed with him frustrated and seeing the level and quality that he has, he would very likely have won.

I heard this song about a year ago and have been following his career and songs since. All his performances on youtube are different and will surprise with masterful technique and pitch every time. I’ve seen this so many times and I just keep thinking…imagine, this was performance #1, on the first night of competition. Against professional singers with established music careers. Nobody knew him, but by the end of that performance he was theirs. He woke THE NEXT MORNING to 600 million subscribers on Weibo (like Twitter) and needed security from then on to even get anywhere in China. He deserves it all-what a phenomenal artist. Dimash is not Chinese. The competition was joined by many out of country singers including from Korea, Japan, Russia and Jessie J, who of course is British.
In Singer 2017, Dimash was the only non Chinese. The rest were all Chinese though not all of those Chinese were from China.
Also, all of the other artists on the 2017 season of The Singer, were all already established artists. Dimash was the only unknown singer.
Dimash is a phenomenon, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100%. His range is over 6 octaves (7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 ( not on the piano) for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others. I just came across your channel and really enjoyed your reaction. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place went to the famous Chinese 51 y/o singer Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash’ss performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

He speaks fluent Russian and Kazakh. He is learning English. He sings in about 10 languages. This was French. During this contest he will sing in English, Italian, Chinese, Kazakh and French. He came in second. Best singer I’ve ever heard. I hope you keep going. In every song you will hear different colors of his voice from baritone to whistle.

This competition are for established prodessional singers who are already popular in China though not all of them are from China. Dimash was the exception here. He was the only non-Chinese , he an unknown in China and was invited by the producer of Singer 2017 as a wildcard experiment entree. All participants are by INVITATIONS ONLY. Dimash STUNNED China and everyone one the show with this ICONIC performance. First day broadcast of this performance garnered more than 600 millions views on China's Weibo ALONE. (Weibo is China's equivalent to TH-cam/Instagram). Dimash became an overnight celebrity that needed bodyguards to move around in China.
