    Join me as I test out a alternative burning fuel for hot tent wood stove. stay warm throughout the night with little to no effort. I'll address the common issue we all have, how to get a longer burn when sleeping in hot tent.

      Exactly what I thought when I bought them today, had to put to the test. I think they would burn even longer in a tent fully dampered down. I larger tent stove that could hold 1 ½ or 2 wow you'll be cooking on it in morning. Thanks for watching 👍

    Recently tried this technique and it was a total success, did it over multiple nights and the longest time i had so far using various methods was start time 830pm and still had 2 charcoal sized pieces smouldering at 1030 am!!

    • @BarkEater
      @BarkEater  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thats great to hear. I think the key is dialing in the airflow just right to your stove and conditions. Once that's figured out these blocks definitely can help keep warmth longer. Appreciate you stopping by to report results. 👍

    • @elbryn1
      @elbryn1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BarkEater it got so hot the fire didn't need much oxygen at all to burn, I have one of the cheapest stoves you can get on Amazon, and I had the damper in front close all the way, it was pulling in air from the smallest of gaps on the door and that was enough to sustain it.
      I had to blow off the ash twice but it have a pocket bellows and it wasn't difficult.
      I used 2 fuel blocks right next to eachother and I built and upside down fire on top of them to get it started and banked it with hardwoods.

      Some others and myself had mixed results since filming this. I think ½ a block over a base layer of hardwood burns cleaner. You need to keep dampers flowing air so the block dont smolder too much or it gets soot buildup in pipe when very cold. Experiment with what works for you and have fun. Thanks for watching

    That’d be great. You could have the video do double duty to catch the actual temp of the stove out of the outdoor, windy environment. I liked that you pointed out, in this video, that part of the solution is having the right sleeping system. It sure won’t need to be 80-100 degrees in the tent if you’ve got a good pad with a suitable bag.

    • @BarkEater
      @BarkEater  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly 💯. Thats where a lot of people are misinformed with small hot tent stoves, they aren't designed or large enough to continuously heat a thin fabric tent for long term. I highly recommend the US military cold weather bag combined with the lighter patrol bag on extreme cold trips or something similar. I'll touch base on that setup in the next vid as well. Appreciate your input, you've given me some good ideas to run with.

    That's really interesting, have to check these out. I love winter camping and even with a stove I usually bring a small Mr. Buddy and propane to keep the tent warm all night, but this might mean not having to bring those. You just get up after 5 hours and pop another one in!

      @BarkEater  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They worked great first couple times i used them, I had one time that did create some pipe deposit . Going to test out using ½ block with wood this fall for a cleaner burn. My advice is test in your stove and no matter what always carry a smoke / co detector on overnights. Thanks for watching.

    • @gcruishank9663
      @gcruishank9663 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, just did a test in my tent in the backyard (camping out with the kids) in my small Luxe 3W and although these bricks burn for quite a long time (stove was still a little warm in the morning) with your baffles around 20% open, they create a LOT of soot! Pretty much everything on the stove had a layer of shiny, thick black soot which took me quite a while to clean out. I would only use these on an outdoor fire in something that's easy to clean. @@BarkEater

      I've had mixed results since filming this. I think key for my stove is plenty of air flow, and ½ log at a time on solid bed of coals and layer of wood. Too dampered they smolder to much causing dirty burn

      I've had mixed results since making this video. Sometimes they burn clean and long other times they smoldered and made lots of nasty goo in pipe. It wouldnt have any choice but to light up. I got a pkg of that fatwood from atwoods farm & ranch. (It rhymes i know) that stuff is flammable like old railroad tie chips.

      It is model S6 danchel Outdoors. I would recommend it but with minor modifications that I notice a lot of stoves need. Damper on pipe is just a straight shaft with steel ring if you forget what way ring is you don't know where damper is. I added a little pice of metal as indicator. Top cap I added about 18" steel fishing leader so cordage tie off for pipe isn't near heat of pipe. I can explain and show pics in my Instagram if you find me there.
