evan mcdonnell I know that in some cases you can join our military to get citizenship , and if you are willingly to fight for our country you are more then welcome here!
UdirtyCamel my relation who is helping me left Ireland at 16 and joined the USMC at 17 and served in Vietnam. Most Americans have no idea how lucky they are to be from the United States.
UdirtyCamel I couldn't agree with you more, I'd would give anything to serve the United States. I see US service members nearly everyday at Shannon airport and they are very respectful people, the finest armed force I've ever seen and most of my relatives served in the British military my great grandfather was at the battle of the Somme, my grand uncle was in the parachute regiment during the Second World War and my cousin was with the Royal Marines Commandos in Afghanistan and Iraq in his three tours he served with American troops he told me that they are very well disciplined, well equipped and a respected force. I view each and every US Military member with the highest respect. My father is a veteran of the Lebanon civil war 1980-83 he witnessed the US Marine Corps landing at Beirut and went on operations with them and he speaks very highly of the US Armed forces
Rah... I just found your Channel; I went into the reserves for college. I don't know how long you been in but for me this was really reliable. I know at times that as reservist there is the what if factor? I'm glad to see that you are doing well man. Great channel man
I'm sort of in the same position right now. Shit at home is really not that great. Parents argue a lot and going our separate ways and divorce has been brought up. I want to join to get away for a while to be a stronger person and hopefully my absence and distance can ironically bring us closer as a family.
Random but my question is, are there many marines that didn't play sports in high school? I'm a senior, in very good shape, but I don't participate in sports. I plan on enlisting.
Plenty of Marines. You'll be surprised at all the different sorts of people from across the US. I actually had a guy from west of the Mississippi at PI because of his father or something. He was and is one of the most unathletic people I know to this day
matthew montes I'm a poolee and ship out next april (got a whole year before an 03xx mos opens up). but I'm skinny af 128 lbs and can say I am the fastest one in our group, but the only thing I suck at is pull ups. I can do about 10 or 11 on a good day.
Rev_ Happy_ yeah I'd say I AM athletic, at 5'8 and 153, I just didn't participate during high school because I'd rather work out than toss a ball around. I can do 20 pull ups no problem but what I struggle with is running
Thank you, GamingLeatherneck. I enlisted the USMC reserves in March. My recruiter told me I'd have to wait an entire year for an active duty slot to open. My mother didn't wan't me to go active duty either, so regrettably I did go reserves and I ship to boot camp June 5th. I know I'll be missing out on the active duty life, but I guess the plus side is I can go back to college after my training is done.
Longing Alone don't settle for a reserve contract if you want to go active. Find another recruiter and tell him you want to go active. You're not obligated to shit until you're on your way down to MCRD whatever. I would say he is lying. I hate recruiters after mine talked me into reserves. Yeah it's nice being home but you come back different, school sucks, and being in a line unit in the reserves sucks bro to be honest. I make the best of my situation but I would definitely had went active if I did it all over again
Hey thanks for thr reply. So I'm able to switch contracts even though I already swore in and signed the reserve one? Do you have any experiece or knowledge of switching contracts after training? Or any stories along the lines of such? Thanks so much.
Longing Alone definitely talk to other recruiters in you're area and tell them you're not goin reservist (unless you want to) and you'll walk away. Be a lot more respectful too. Look into 1371 combat engineer too if infantry is out of the window. As a reservist you can choose what you want but active you get put in that field i.e. 03xx, 13xx. My busy wanted to be an engineer but got changed to bulk fuel so be ready for things like that because the Marine Corps will do what they want period.
In a very similar situation. People will say joining with a degree is a crazy idea, but it's my life and if I want something I'll chase it even if the idea sounds crazy to other people. I just can't decide if I want to do reserves or active duty (thought about applying for a commission.) . The idea of reserves is definitely pretty enticing right now. I was thinking of doing the National Guard if I want a more reserve approach, as they serve at the state and federal levels. But man, there's just something about the Marines....
I think we've been bitten by the same bug. Right now im steering towards getting a degree, joining active duty, coming back and going to grad school. That seems like a solid overall option.
Hey man, really learned a lot about who you are and where you come from in this video. I got a lot of respect for you man especially in the confession of you fighting your father, I get that. My dads not from here and he also lived in a place where his military was not looked up to. Much love man.
I want to join reserves because I want to go to college and work on my future business. How does it work after basic training is over? I’m really interested on serving my country:)

My reserve unit was unless through 2 wars from 2009-2015. I did NOTHING. no action during two wars. What a waste. Lost all motivation towards the end. Maybe you were a motard reservist. congrats.
how can I join the reserves do I talk to any marine recruiter or do I need to talk to a reserve recruiter? really interested want to finish college though what can I do?
The Gaming Leatherneck I'm having the same problem with my parents but instead of going reserves I want to go the officer route and become an Officer in the USMC how should i convince them
