      Hi Michael - as always I love and appreciate what you do! I firmly believe that Ed Sheeran’s live loop videos/shows are among the most under-reacted videos on TH-cam and therefore a great opportunity for you. Beyond the added exposure from his extremely loyal fan base (guilty as charged here) I think you’ll just love what he does as a fellow musician. While this was another great reaction/teaching video, it doesn’t show that aspect of his uniqueness as an artist. You have a uniqueness as a reactor in the way you breakdown what is going on musically and that would be perfect for explaining what’s going on with all the different elements that he’s looping. I suggest “Bloodstream” from the 2014 iTunes festival or BMA’s to start but that’s just one example, you could probably create a entire channel just breaking down his live looping videos. I really hope you check out out his looping stuff and go down that rabbit hole with us! I started playing guitar when he was just coming up and I was going through a rough patch of my life. He inspired me by showing what is possible for one person with an acoustic guitar and hard work. P.S.- (Unrelated) - as someone who is 2+ years sober, your “Cover Me Up” reaction really spoke to me and I appreciate your candidness in that video. Thank you!

    The song “Supermarket Flowers” is also a song of grief, written from his mother’s viewpoint on losing her mom. So beautiful. You should check it out.

    I'm not sure why Ed Sheeran gets shat upon by so many. I took my daughter and her friends to see him back in 2015. I thought his stuff was pretty good, and I always supported her desire to go see live music. Seeing him live, in person, was simply astonishing. He came out by himself, just a single person with a parlor-size Martin LX1 and his loop pedal. He had the entire 15,000 seat arena completely captivated the whole night. It was really something to behold. I was rockin' so hard all night, I was dripping with sweat from having danced so much - at a SOLO ACOUSTIC GUITAR PERFORMANCE. I say, if you think someone who can do that sucks, you might want to re-evaluate your rubric.

      It may be his looks. He ‘s not classically handsome. I like his voice!

    • @evangelionl0vr857
      @evangelionl0vr857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah man, it bothers me so much because a lot of the hate he gets is from people who consider themselves musicians or who actually have decent music taste becuase they just take his pop songs at face value and don’t bother to look into how actually talented he is. Like they complain that music is dead and then shit on the ONE popular artist who is immensely talented. Makes no sense.

      Rubric? What military school house did you teach at?

    • @garywhitt98
      @garywhitt98 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Eric, such an intelligent comment. I always remind myself, Van Gogh sold NO paintings while alive. Zero. Joshua Bell, the virtuoso violin player, couldn’t get more than one person to stop and listen in a D.C train station. I am convinced most people can’t hear music. I mean, just look at how people responded to your comment. One moron was surprised by your use of “rubric” and another thought Sheeran’s looks somehow influenced the public’s reaction to his music.

    • @watso059
      @watso059 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've seen him twice in person. He is absolutely fantastic live. Both concerts I attended were just him with the loop pedal and acoustic guitar as well. Best concerts I've been to (maybe tied with Mumford and Sons...they were incredible). Who cares about his looks. He is exceptionally talented.

      That's not hard to figure out. Sheeran uses this progressiom so much you can predict it after the first two chords. Also causing him to repeat his melodies. The verse sounds a lot like Perfect

    This song just absolutely killed me. I lost my brother 9 years ago, and to say that "so much has changed since you went away" is an understatement. All I can do with this is cry along with him and feel his pain with mine. Thank you for sharing this beautiful remembrance with me. It's been a while since I had a really deep cry over losing my brother and best friend, and I guess I really needed it today.

    Even if your a person that hasn’t “lost” that close someone at the moment, there’s going to be a moment sometime in your life that it’s actually going to happen.
    So I think that’s why everyone has a mutual love for this song
    We all have that grief button in our souls and Ed has helped us activate it even if you haven’t lost someone, you can still relate. And that’s a superpower in my eyes

    He's so good. His guitar playing is such quality. It makes sense that he and John Mayer are good friends (last I knew), because they both tuck these beautifully complex guitar lines right out in the open on these radio friendly tunes. In a way that seems lyrical and like it should be really easy to play...until you sit down and work on it.

    Dude, I don't play, I tried when I was young and it just got pushed aside for other things, but I love music and the Xs and Os (so to speak) of it and this is one of the most fascinating channels on TH-cam. Even when I don't necessarily understand the language you're speaking, I still get the gist of it because of the way you explain it. Most importantly, it makes me appreciate the music more seeing how the moving parts come together. We're about the same age but this is one of those situations where I wish something like this existed when I was young and trying to learn. I would have stuck with it.

    Try these lads below - Bombay Bicycle Club. Seen them live and utterly fantastic from the moment they step on stage, and sad to see them leave at the end. Got a real cult following and any venue videos are always overwhelmed by the audience singing along.
    Ive picked one of their more quiet tunes but they go full rock, but always come back to the accoustic
