Personally I only really like the infantry variants; just feels right in the ww1 setting. The lebel has an absolutely atrocious reload but it's solid rate of fire and best (in my opinion) iron sights in its class make it a blast to use.
I use the vetterli because in real life our family owns one. I think it was brought back from Europe from a distant relative. It's just cool to use something in the game you actually have.
I don’t play as scout that much but I’d say Mosin Nagant and Type 38 are really underrated in this list. Mosin has the same stats as Russian 1895, basically the 1895 marksman yet with higher fire rate. And it has a goddamn sick good looking skin holy shit. Type 38 should be a choice for aggressive recon as good as Martini, in some situations it’s even better.
you named all the good ones. . . I have 100 stars on the Arisaka, Ross and Vetterli infantry versions. The mosin, russian, m95 all are on the 50s and 60s service stars. cant snipe worth a damn with a scope tho lol
It has been tested frame by frame, the M1903 actually has a higher bullet velocity than the gewehr 98 past 100 meters. But I prefer the G98 because it has a crisp sound
It has less bullet drag but it's correct yea for extreme sniping (100+ meters) m1903 is better, however for hitting headshots or for playing around 80-100 meters g98 is better
I have no idea why, but I love the Carcano and Mosin and I would put them two tiers higher. Perhaps it's because I like their aesthetics and quality of animations, while the "assist counts as kill" probably inflates my k/d enough to make me think they are great and that I'm doing really good with them. I can't deny that the M95 is the better though. I used to use it a ton before the dlc rifles came out.
Couldn't agree more with the analysis of the 1903. The experimental variant is the only saviour to its inclusion in the game. Having the 1917 be an almost an exact replica stats-wise. The quick swap you can do by changing weapons 'mid-infantry to pistol mode' makes the animation take way less time and with some of the nicest ironsights it can be a beast on smaller servers.

in my experience on console the Mosin is the only rifle that I find usable, every other rifle that I've tried has too much bullet spread whereas the Mosin is pinpoint accurate without zeroing changes

14:03 there is a way, at least on console not sure if it would be different on pc, to trick the Lebels reload so that you don’t have to double rack the bolt towards the end of the reload. You reload until the moment the hud reads 8 rounds, quick switch to your secondary and back, and it completely skips the bolt cycle.

I’d argue that the Russian being lever action makes it a very good infantry gun for follow up shots. It’s also really good for low range play like 100m to 150m cause of it’s reload speed but I get why it is in c overall it’s just average.
I actually got a cool gewehr skin but I then realized that it wasn’t the regular gewehr it was the m.95 one and then I used it and I loved it because I can use it for more closer range and mid range with no problems
You should classified them by range. Close and medium range: label 1886 is a beast. ( then Smle Mkiii comes and Ross and the japanese Type 38 Arisaka ) Long range: M1903 all the way ( bullet velocity faster than the silent and gewehr 98 )
I own a Gewehr 98 in real life. Just as good in game as it is irl. Super damn accurate, really reliable, smooth bolt action, and just overall amazing piece of Imperial German Engineering.
Am I the only Person who loves the Vetterli Vitali? It's one of the most satisfying scout weapons when you master it. Not a bad weapon at all. I'd say it's high C tier or lob B tier.
I'm good with Vetterli-vitali. I love it but I know a lot don't like it. I make it work for me. I'm not great with a lot of the scout weapons at distance since it doesn't fill my playstyle. I want to be close. Gives me a chance to utilize flairs and my tripwires. My biggest strength is the use of my gadgets for assisting the team. Impact Grenade and either obrez or peacekeeper for sidearm. My choice for being really close is the sidearm. I don't push players with my rifle. The upper body and headshot potential to one shot kill with my sidearms make it more worthwhile to push with them. I never use scopes. Even if I run the 1903, I go with experimental.
You have MASSIVELY underrated the fast-firing rifles (m95, cacarno, & 1895 trench). Not all kills need to be headshots. It's very common that someone took 11 damage from a gas grenade and 90 damage to the upper torso is enough to kill. If not, rack the bolt and shoot again, and it will still have a competitive ttk against most guns except other one-shots and assault smgs. Plus, these rifles retain the ability to 1-shot non-moving & unaware targets, so you can still do your job as a sniper clearing machinegun nests.
Weirdly, the mosin is almost identical to the Russian 1895, the only difference is fire-rate, sights, and reloads. Also, how dare you put my two favourite scout rifles in D-tier!
And then there is me and the boys playing scout just to use a pistol carbine with a longer barrel because we suck at sniping but still dominating servers. (1903 experimental)
I like Vetterly + Kolibri. Why? Because with Martini you will kill enemy in most cases. Yes, I played a lot with Martini + Kolibri but most Kolibri kills was "accidental". With Vetterly I can be sure that enemy will be like 5-20hp. I usually use it on maps like Vaux, Argonne, etc.
Yeeees. Finally a man of culture. I did my service star on kolibri mostly with vetterli-vitali as my primary. And it's 100% true that with it as prime kolibri actually feels like a decent secondary.
Honestly, after watching all four of the tier lists you did, I mostly agree with you. I do disagree on all but Medic though for my preferred weapons. I have 419 kills with the MP-19 Trench and only 23 kills with the SMG-08/18 period, so I would switch the two around because I struggle with the SMG but with the MP I do strongly with it. For Support I use the Benie Mercie, and I'm really good with is, so seeing you put it in D tier really rubs me the wrong way. It's a C tier minimum for me. And then Scout, the Gewehr M.95 is S tier! I hate the sweet spot mechanic so having none on the M.95 is such a dream, it's my best rifle with 208 kills on the infantry variant. I have a few other changes like move the Fedorov, Lewis Gun, and Mosin Nagant up to S, A, and B each but I'm fine for the most part on all four of the lists. All of them were great, all were entertaining to watch and see your perspectives on each of the weapons. Nice job on them.

In my opinion “pay to access guns”, well first off it should be illegal, but anyways it shouldn’t be considered in game lists, just for the fact not everyone can or will get them
I feel the guns are also what you mainly use because I play the 1895 and I play it well enough but other rifles that most people say I should play just don't feel right, even with better stats

I agree, man. Then, in order to try and balance it out, DICE decided to ramp up suppression, making shooting back in engagements nearly impossible with a Sniper. Overall, if I'm being honest, I don't really enjoy Sniping on BF1 that much anymore
I think battlefield hardline did it better; the one shot snipers only did so at pretty close range. Maybe making it only on infantry variants would have worked too but even then it would still probably feel a little overtuned
i had my best game at 29 kill and had to leave mid of my best game, i was using the russian 1895, my personal favorite. Also the type 38 airisaka i think are great wirh their 10x zoom, i started playing this game like 4 days ago and im rank 30

Mosin has a higher muzzle velocity than most other than the g98 and it shoots quicker than the g98 and it ss range is middle range I also prefer the the carcano to the m95 1 extra round and higher rof and you can cancel single loading of 1 round at a time and the marksman guns have no glint the level lower muzzle than the 1903 mosin and g98 but 8 rounds but slow reload times
The Mosin is more comparable to the Russian 1895, same SS, same ROF, but the 1895 gets a Sniper variant and the Mosin a Marksman, which for me makes the 1895 better. Also i agree that the Mosins rechamber animation is annoying

the 1903 and 1917 have a bit less velocity but a better ballistic coefficient (bullet slows down less)

The Springfield and g98 do not have the same sweet spot..The m1903 has a sweet spot from 100-150 yards where the g98 I believe is 80-125yards
