How about the Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite as a sub 2'' choice? Not the greatest steel but feels amazing in hand and super utilitarian, a proper workhorse. Plus, it's got that fantastic Triad lock.
I got a cold steel micro recon tanto. Its a great little knife for 25$. I belive it has tanto and drop point. I got the tanto for scraping. I love mine. Check that one out. You won't be disappointed.

I have a hot take on handle sizes. I carry multiple knives to suit different kinds of cutting tasks. That means different blade shapes, grinds, blade lengths, each suited to a semi-specialist function. As a result, knives with shorter blades don’t normally get used for forceful cutting tasks. That’s why I’m perfectly happy with a smaller knife with a three-finger grip. It doesn’t need the secure grip of a hard-use knife.

I can understand that Americans want to buy home products but it was great for me to see the Joker knives on the channel over the past two episodes. They are Spanish knives and I live in Spain. Spanish knives feature very seldom on knife channels and that's a bit of a pity because they can be very well made, especially with well crafted wooden handles (olive wood is gorgeous). Hunting and bushcrafting are hugely popular in Spain and they have great pieces in those areas. The "navaja" is a traditional Spanish knife and has a long-standing history. By the way, I gave my wife a present of a folding knife today. It was well received.
Hey David, was recently looking into kitchen knives and naturally I searched for a knife centre kitchen knife video and the only one out there is a little short and old, I would like to see you do a new one and go more in depth. I think I've decided mostly on old hickory for most of my kitchen knives but I'm looking for some good stainless plain edge steak knives and maybe some more budget friendly japanese kitchen knives
Like the question. I have recently renewed my love of pocket carry able sharp tools. I started to look at my kitchen knives more closely because of this. I realized just how terrible they actually are. So ive been eyeballing the Spideychef or the KUF V4 for kitchen use. But haven’t made any kitchen knives purchase yet. Taking my time deciding.
@@landscapingspecialist The Spydiechef is a great knife, but I don't care for it in the Kitchen. Amare makes a folder designed for the kitchen. It is larger than the Spydie. Again, I don't use this. The knives that I use most often are a petty by Ken Onion and a 8" chef in BD1N, CKTG by Richmond. Both were under $100. I don't leave my Japanese knives out so they don't always get used.
You’ll be sorry if you get old hickory. I was getting ready to go that way, before I knew anything about steel. They have a Rockwell hardness score of 50-53.
Hi, DCA! I love almost every knife you recommend in your presentations but I would like your recommendation for a good skiving knife. I'm into leather working and would love a really well made skiving knife. Something that keeps its edge, good steel (Japanese made?), very maneuverable (ambi) and nice scales/ handle/ grips that are non-slip. Under $200. Hey DCA. So I got that cold steel tanto Keychain. It was ordered under my old legal name since this Claudia Perry isn't my legal yet, but days away. Its an amazing little knife! It did exactly what I needed it to and its easy to keep in my purse and work apron. It was a great recommendation! The SOG AT Aegis is a really good knife. I don't have that color, but I have one and its very snappy and a great user knife.

For the first guy definitely the goblin and imp from bestech, the little native and Brouwer from spyderco are my 4 “smaller blade” carry options. 6’5” and XL sized hands
Best LBK was the Spyderco Lil' Temperance. Handfilling, tall finger grooved G-10 handle with nested Compression lock and a wide leaf/rhino blade under 3 inches. However, it was fairly heavy and a pocket hog. The original pocket clip was also rather wide and square (ergonomic). I think the Para 3 is a more easy to carry alternative, especially the LW version. For a 2 inch version, the Copilot, Meerkat and Navigator were decent.

What would you recommend as a casual “beach knife” with the following attributes: -Lightweight, as it will be mostly carried in swim shorts -Low profile and not too big/bulky, (a para 3 lightweight still takes too much space for comfort in my opinion) -2.2 to 2.8 inch blade max, for not scaring any beach civilians -Corrosion resistant steel of course, but not strictly a specialized one like H1 or LC200N -No slippery texture handles as it will be used with wet hands sometimes -Under $100, but well made. Bottle opener is a plus. No Spydercos. Thanks!
I just picked up a Hogue A01 MS and it's a cool little knife. Can't stop playing with it.. I specifically wanted this because it has a more reasonable handle size than a lot of other Cali legal autos. Plus it opens beer. Can't complain about the CPM 154 wharncliffe either. Note: Loctite the pivot, and adjust the tension...the knife kicks hard for its size, and my pivot came loose after playing with it for a day.
I wish Kershaw would offer more variety with their Dividend like they do with the leek. Also more Bareknuckle type knives or even come out with a crossbar lock American made knife.
Hey DCA. Im getting in to Stock-removal knifemaking. Which steel do you recommend buying when it comes to it being easy to heattreat? I know you have lots of experience with custom knifemaking.
What would you recommend for a good quality chef's knife that will not rust as easily? My wife and I were gifted a set of 3 Shun knives and they all rusted. We also bought a Hen & Rooster block set that rusted. I used Aegis Solutions EDCi on them and hand washed them all. We aren't professional cooks, just home cooks, so nothing too fancy or expensive. I have a Guardian 3. Love it. The only critique I have is the scout carry leather sheath it came with is too tight for my belts. I end up carrying it in my pocket instead. I need to get a narrower belt, and just haven’t had the chance to make that purchase.
Ive got a Guardian 3.5, an Esee 3, and a Ka-Bar BK14 that I rotate for EDC. The Esee has definitely spent the most time on my belt, but Ive also had it the longest of the three. One downside of the Esee, IMO, is the sheath/clip - I ended up getting a custom Kydex scout carry sheath off Etsy. I like the BK14 because I can carry it in/on my waistband or belt upright, so it's less likely to snag on things vs scout carry. All that said, I think the Guardian is gonna replace the two, at least for now. It's got a similar handle shape & feel to a Esee Izula II/BK14, but just feels...better. The sheath belt loop does start pretty tight, but mine has started to relax. My next fixed blade purchase will probably be a Guardian3
If I ever had $150 to fritter away I would have had a guardian by now. I really like the looks of it. If I didn't have a bucket full of other fixed blades probably would on the guardian.
I’ve had a G3 for about a year and a half now, and it is hands down the blade I carry the most. It’s always on my belt or in my purse. I got one in M390 because I love the steel, and it is just a wonderful little beast.

Please do a video on "suit knives". These would be knives as light and slim profile as possible, with a clip for the inside of a suit or tuxedo jacket. Bottle opener function would be a bonus. (This is different than gentleman knives, which seem to focus on looks and tend to stay the pants pocket or in a desk drawer.)

just bc benchmade themselves is out of stock doesn’t mean a vendor is, benchmade sends a bunch out to every dealer when they make some but also sell some themselves. difference vendors do business at different rates, it’s just like how walmart may be out of coca cola but target still has it.
I have the Sakura bokote chef's knife and it's really excellent. The high blade with a curved edge is exactly what I was looking for and could not find it in pretty much any other knife.
As far as small knives, both with 2.25 inch sharpened edge, the CJRB Maileah or the Civivi Odium would be my recommendations. I have larger than average hands and both designs are easy to manipulate, and work well for me

Great video! I do have a question. From what I have read online nitro-v steel is really optimal when it's run around 61 or 62. Most comments that I have read say that a softer HRC keeps the steel from being anything special. What are your opinions of the steel and especially what do you think the HRC should be. If I found a production knife in this range I would have already bought it.

Yes! Been asking this question forever, as a big guy with big hands I really like the handle on the rat 1 it's comfortable and fits my hands nicely, just wish you could have it with the rat 2 blade
I am guessing here but I would think that if you bought one of each you could put the rat two blade in the rat one. IIRC, I have a rat 2. If I can find it I'll see if the blades are interchangeable and get back to you.
I found my R2D2. I took them both apart. It looked like it was possible, but the pivot on the R1 is larger. Mine measured 15/16" with my digital micrometer. That is a very common drill bit size. I am not sure that I would try to freehand the hole. A drill press would provide much better control. If things didn't work out you would only be out the price of the Rat2. But then you could always blame me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
What are your suggestions for a sheath extention? I have a Buck 105 which I love, but the handle digs into my side. As a result I'd like to extend the sheath lower on the hip, which will give better access to my knife as well. What do you suggest?

From a army grunts perspective (My Brother in law) folders shouldn't be used but if so 4-5 inches is lovely for deep cuts. And with training 2-3 inches will be enough to cut joints arteries and tendons. Also knives are a last ditch defense be careful an respect your tool.

Hey DCA, I recently purchased the SOG Aegis AT (exclusive just like in this video). I find it very difficult to open. It's to the point that I am using my other hand to open it, but being assisted open, it really pops open into my second hand. With that being said, when you showed the knife in this video, it seems to open smoothly. Did you do some type of modification or adjustment to get it to open so easily?

I am a avid cyclist and carried a Boker Subcom with me because it was small, light, and unobtrusive when clipped to a jersey pocket. My cycling buddies thought it was funny that I carried a knife when cycling, but didn't laugh when they got to see how useful a small knife was when out on the bike. I used it to remove tiny objects from tires that caused flats and in one case, self defense against a pit bull. Sad to say that I lost it after a small spill when riding singletrack on my mtn bike. Definitely need to purchase another, but this time in titanium
@@jayr526 Well, to be honest I took the one I had apart and under the FRN handle it was severely rusted from sweat. I cleaned it up as well as possible and put a generous amount of grease under the handle piece to help prevent farther corrosion. Besides, I no longer carry my knife I have for cycling now just clipped to my jersey pocket, especially when mtn biking

8:17 here in South Korea, someone who try to buy auto knife(including OTF) that has cutting edge longer then 5cm(1.9685 inch) have to register that knife to local police office. If he choose manual folder rather than auto, he can allowed 1 more cm - total 6cm(2.3622 inch) - and fixed blades are allowed to 15cm(5.9055 inch). if he buying some longer than allowed kinves and register that at he's city's police office and move home to another city, he must re-register all that knives again at that city's police office. what a fantasy world :) but that rule does not apply to chef knife, machete, axe, blade that include in multitool, ....etc..... because this rule made to restrict "weapons". interesting, isn't it?
So odd that actually have to register knives. Then that kitchen knives lenght doesnt matter like other fixed blades even though its maybe the most common knife used in stabbings. Well weapon laws rarely make sense to me. Here in Finland owning knives is easy, but carrying them in public is quite heavily restricted. Any bladed tool you need reason for carrying, and its completely up to officers to decide if the reason is good enough. In small towns people dont tend to care though if someone has sheath knife openly on belt especially in hunting season.

I find it interesting how adamant people are in their dislike for spyderco in general. Looks aren’t everything. Although I don’t care for lock backs I find myself really enjoying The Sage5 and Chaparral models. The Kapara is a must have as is the Spydie Chef.
I hate the looks but love the in hand functionality. They are fantastic if you get over the looks. The compression lock is my favorite. Extremely easy one hand operation. I think a lot of people like the fidget factor which is there but I don’t really care for doing that. For use of cutting things alone, spyderco has it in spades for feeling like an extension of your own hand
Have that D2 dividend carry it a lot and really like it. Looking for a Bare knuckle with the better steels like M390 or cpm20cv did I miss the boat on these? Is the Damascus better the the 14C28?
We don't know when the fancier steel versions will be back. As for the Damascus, they use simple carbon steels - the 14C28N should hold an edge a bit longer. -DCA

Rick A. is a paragon of self-awareness. He could go with the standard, "I'm a big man, I need a big knife" philosophy, and he'd end up with a Demko (not that there's anything wrong with that) to open the packages we all face down daily. Most of us end up with more blade than we really need. What he needs, what I'm sure DCA would have recommended if not for availability, is a Spyderco Lil' Native. Using the finger choil, it fits my XL mits perfectly, and in that position I have blade control like I'm using a Mora 120. Sure, the blade stock is thicker than necessary, but the high, flat grind keeps it slicey, and it gives it a bigger knife feel to comfort our big guy egos. Rick should get on the waiting lists, and keep an eye out for sprints and exclusives. I hopped off the G-10 waiting list to jump on a carbon fiber, s90v version, and despite the sprint run surcharge I'm thrilled with it.

DCA if you read this I will feel famous! I am looking for a small edc fixed blade. I prefer a brown leather sheath that can age and show character. The smith and sons axiom is real close but I don’t like the blade on that. Ideally wood scales. If possible maybe a more budget option under 100 and an option around 200. For the edc it is nice if the leather sheath rides higher or scout. No danglers. Currently I edc a esee 3 or izula 2, with a rotation of folders.

Would you use to skin bigger wire? If so, I’d recommend something with a decent recurve. It helps to keep you from slipping out of the insulation & the roundness of the recurve follows the roundness of the exposed braided copper.
The wife just made a comment that I will pass along. She said that every time you say your catch phrase she thinks of the Rockbitter from The Neverending Story… I almost died laughing. “The Nothing pulled them from My Slightly Larger Than Average Hands” So that will be stuck in my head forever now.

I think a couple of the newer Victorinox fixed-blade outdoor knives are made in Spain.
Hey David, was recently looking into kitchen knives and naturally I searched for a knife centre kitchen knife video and the only one out there is a little short and old, I would like to see you do a new one and go more in depth. I think I've decided mostly on old hickory for most of my kitchen knives but I'm looking for some good stainless plain edge steak knives and maybe some more budget friendly japanese kitchen knives
Like the question. I have recently renewed my love of pocket carry able sharp tools. I started to look at my kitchen knives more closely because of this. I realized just how terrible they actually are. So ive been eyeballing the Spideychef or the KUF V4 for kitchen use. But haven’t made any kitchen knives purchase yet. Taking my time deciding.

@@landscapingspecialist The Spydiechef is a great knife, but I don't care for it in the Kitchen. Amare makes a folder designed for the kitchen. It is larger than the Spydie. Again, I don't use this. The knives that I use most often are a petty by Ken Onion and a 8" chef in BD1N, CKTG by Richmond. Both were under $100. I don't leave my Japanese knives out so they don't always get used.
You’ll be sorry if you get old hickory. I was getting ready to go that way, before I knew anything about steel. They have a Rockwell hardness score of 50-53.

Hi, DCA! I love almost every knife you recommend in your presentations but I would like your recommendation for a good skiving knife. I'm into leather working and would love a really well made skiving knife. Something that keeps its edge, good steel (Japanese made?), very maneuverable (ambi) and nice scales/ handle/ grips that are non-slip. Under $200. But could go higher if it meets my needs and is PRETTY. Thank you! Your help is greatly appreciated.
Hey DCA. So I got that cold steel tanto Keychain. It was ordered under my old legal name since this Claudia Perry isn't my legal yet, but days away. Its an amazing little knife! It did exactly what I needed it to and its easy to keep in my purse and work apron. It was a great recommendation! The SOG AT Aegis is a really good knife. I don't have that color, but I have one and its very snappy and a great user knife.

For the first guy definitely the goblin and imp from bestech, the little native and Brouwer from spyderco are my 4 “smaller blade” carry options. 6’5” and XL sized hands
Best LBK was the Spyderco Lil' Temperance. Handfilling, tall finger grooved G-10 handle with nested Compression lock and a wide leaf/rhino blade under 3 inches. However, it was fairly heavy and a pocket hog. The original pocket clip was also rather wide and square (ergonomic). I think the Para 3 is a more easy to carry alternative, especially the LW version.
For a 2 inch version, the Copilot, Meerkat and Navigator were decent.
Hey DCA. What would you recommend as a casual “beach knife” with the following attributes:
-Lightweight, as it will be mostly carried in swim shorts
-Low profile and not too big/bulky, (a para 3 lightweight still takes too much space for comfort in my opinion)
-2.2 to 2.8 inch blade max, for not scaring any beach civilians
-Corrosion resistant steel of course, but not strictly a specialized one like H1 or LC200N
-No slippery texture handles as it will be used with wet hands sometimes
-Under $100, but well made.
Bottle opener is a plus. No Spydercos. Thanks!

I just picked up a Hogue A01 MS and it's a cool little knife. Can't stop playing with it.. I specifically wanted this because it has a more reasonable handle size than a lot of other Cali legal autos. Plus it opens beer. Can't complain about the CPM 154 wharncliffe either.
Note: Loctite the pivot, and adjust the tension...the knife kicks hard for its size, and my pivot came loose after playing with it for a day.
I wish Kershaw would offer more variety with their Dividend like they do with the leek. Also more Bareknuckle type knives or even come out with a crossbar lock American made knife.

1075 or 1084. 1095 is a little more finicky. Start easy, gain some confidence, then work your way to more complicated steels. -DCA

1. Spydeco Para 3 - ✂️ ng edge is 2.5"
2. Cold steel Tuff Lite
What would you recommend for a good quality chef's knife that will not rust as easily? My wife and I were gifted a set of 3 Shun knives and they all rusted. We also bought a Hen & Rooster block set that rusted. I used Aegis Solutions EDCi on them and hand washed them all. We aren't professional cooks, just home cooks, so nothing too fancy or expensive. The DPX knives are also an option but they are pricey.
Every knife can be used as a bottle opener, just like a lighter. Use your index finger as a fulcrum, they pop right off.
I was waiting to see if you would mention the Proteck Calmigo during the 2" blade question.
Hey David, I'd love a recommendation for a knife that would help me as an HVAC tech. Typical things being cut are cardboard, tape, foam, wire insulation, zipties, and aluminum tape. I'm good with fixed or folding, but if possible, under 100 would be awesome. And if you happen to have a multitool recommendation as well, thatd rock.
I work in the Facilities Department at my work. The Leatherman Crunch is perfect. Locking pliers, screwdrivers and serrated knife.
A k390 spyderco folder like the delica, endela, endura, stretch 2, or police 4 would be my choice for that type of material you would be cutting
Milwaukee makes a couple of fixed blades for this purpose. They were about $20 last time I looked.

I have a Guardian 3. Love it. The only critique I have is the scout carry leather sheath it came with is too tight for my belts. I end up carrying it in my pocket instead. I need to get a narrower belt, and just haven’t had the chance to make that purchase.
Ive got a Guardian 3.5, an Esee 3, and a Ka-Bar BK14 that I rotate for EDC. The Esee has definitely spent the most time on my belt, but Ive also had it the longest of the three. One downside of the Esee, IMO, is the sheath/clip - I ended up getting a custom Kydex scout carry sheath off Etsy. I like the BK14 because I can carry it in/on my waistband or belt upright, so it's less likely to snag on things vs scout carry. All that said, I think the Guardian is gonna replace the two, at least for now. It's got a similar handle shape & feel to a Esee Izula II/BK14, but just feels...better. The sheath belt loop does start pretty tight, but mine has started to relax.
My next fixed blade purchase will probably be a Guardian3
If I ever had $150 to fritter away I would have had a guardian by now. I really like the looks of it. If I didn't have a bucket full of other fixed blades probably would on the guardian.
I’ve had a G3 for about a year and a half now, and it is hands down the blade I carry the most. It’s always on my belt or in my purse. I got one in M390 because I love the steel, and it is just a wonderful little beast.

I have the Sakura bokote chef's knife and it's really excellent. The high blade with a curved edge is exactly what I was looking for and could not find it in pretty much any other knife.
As far as small knives, both with 2.25 inch sharpened edge, the CJRB Maileah or the Civivi Odium would be my recommendations. I have larger than average hands and both designs are easy to manipulate, and work well for me

I bought the Bestech Goblin from KC in early 2019 to replace my Spyderco Dragonfly. I honestly didn't think I'd still have it as my go to keychain knife nearly three years later. I initially wanted the Bestech Engine, which I'm still thinking about getting someday. Pricy... but, GREAT knife.

Hi David, I remember as a kid you could find in the junk draw a stainless steel looking Swiss army knife with just U.S. stamped on it. We use to refer those as army knives. Was those Swiss army made ? Don't see those around anymore. Also check out the Sitivein s103 knives from Amazon. Great Cheap knife.

Great video! I do have a question. From what I have read online nitro-v steel is really optimal when it's run around 61 or 62. Most comments that I have read say that a softer HRC keeps the steel from being anything special. What are your opinions of the steel and especially what do you think the HRC should be. If I found a production knife in this range I would have already bought it.

I am guessing here but I would think that if you bought one of each you could put the rat two blade in the rat one. IIRC, I have a rat 2. If I can find it I'll see if the blades are interchangeable and get back to you.
I found my R2D2. I took them both apart. It looked like it was possible, but the pivot on the R1 is larger. Mine measured 15/16" with my digital micrometer. That is a very common drill bit size. I am not sure that I would try to freehand the hole. A drill press would provide much better control. If things didn't work out you would only be out the price of the Rat2. But then you could always blame me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
If you want a full sized handle with a shorter blade :Get an Endura and sand it down to Delica length. You get a stout work blade with a full handle.

What are your suggestions for a sheath extention? I have a Buck 105 which I love, but the handle digs into my side. As a result I'd like to extend the sheath lower on the hip, which will give better access to my knife as well. What do you suggest?

From a army grunts perspective (My Brother in law) folders shouldn't be used but if so 4-5 inches is lovely for deep cuts. And with training 2-3 inches will be enough to cut joints arteries and tendons. Also knives are a last ditch defense be careful an respect your tool.

Hey DCA, I recently purchased the SOG Aegis AT (exclusive just like in this video). I find it very difficult to open. It's to the point that I am using my other hand to open it, but being assisted open, it really pops open into my second hand. With that being said, when you showed the knife in this video, it seems to open smoothly. Did you do some type of modification or adjustment to get it to open so easily?

I am a avid cyclist and carried a Boker Subcom with me because it was small, light, and unobtrusive when clipped to a jersey pocket. My cycling buddies thought it was funny that I carried a knife when cycling, but didn't laugh when they got to see how useful a small knife was when out on the bike. I used it to remove tiny objects from tires that caused flats and in one case, self defense against a pit bull. Sad to say that I lost it after a small spill when riding singletrack on my mtn bike. Definitely need to purchase another, but this time in titanium
Pardon me for biting in, but it seems like one with FRN handles would be a better idea. Losing that would be much less painful than one with titanium.
@@jayr526 Well, to be honest I took the one I had apart and under the FRN handle it was severely rusted from sweat. I cleaned it up as well as possible and put a generous amount of grease under the handle piece to help prevent farther corrosion. Besides, I no longer carry my knife I have for cycling now just clipped to my jersey pocket, especially when mtn biking

8:17 here in South Korea, someone who try to buy auto knife(including OTF) that has cutting edge longer then 5cm(1.9685 inch) have to register that knife to local police office. If he choose manual folder rather than auto, he can allowed 1 more cm - total 6cm(2.3622 inch) - and fixed blades are allowed to 15cm(5.9055 inch). if he buying some longer than allowed kinves and register that at he's city's police office and move home to another city, he must re-register all that knives again at that city's police office. what a fantasy world :)
but that rule does not apply to chef knife, machete, axe, blade that include in multitool, ....etc..... because this rule made to restrict "weapons". interesting, isn't it?
So odd that actually have to register knives. Then that kitchen knives lenght doesnt matter like other fixed blades even though its maybe the most common knife used in stabbings. Well weapon laws rarely make sense to me. Here in Finland owning knives is easy, but carrying them in public is quite heavily restricted. Any bladed tool you need reason for carrying, and its completely up to officers to decide if the reason is good enough. In small towns people dont tend to care though if someone has sheath knife openly on belt especially in hunting season.

I find it interesting how adamant people are in their dislike for spyderco in general. Looks aren’t everything. Although I don’t care for lock backs I find myself really enjoying The Sage5 and Chaparral models. The Kapara is a must have as is the Spydie Chef.
I hate the looks but love the in hand functionality. They are fantastic if you get over the looks. The compression lock is my favorite. Extremely easy one hand operation. I think a lot of people like the fidget factor which is there but I don’t really care for doing that. For use of cutting things alone, spyderco has it in spades for feeling like an extension of your own hand
No, there aren’t. People either love or hate them. They’re all well made, and all overpriced.
Have that D2 dividend carry it a lot and really like it. Looking for a Bare knuckle with the better steels like M390 or cpm20cv did I miss the boat on these? Is the Damascus better the the 14C28?
We don't know when the fancier steel versions will be back. As for the Damascus, they use simple carbon steels - the 14C28N should hold an edge a bit longer. -DCA

Hi David! I love the look and feel of the Benchmade Mini Crooked River, but I’m not a fan of the axis lock. I’d like to hear your suggestions for a similar knife with a metal bolster and wood handle, with a different locking mechanism, yet still able to open/close one handed. Thanks!
I think Lionsteel and other Italian makers might be the only ones with with normal production knives falling under those parameters.

Rick A. is a paragon of self-awareness. He could go with the standard, "I'm a big man, I need a big knife" philosophy, and he'd end up with a Demko (not that there's anything wrong with that) to open the packages we all face down daily. Most of us end up with more blade than we really need. What he needs, what I'm sure DCA would have recommended if not for availability, is a Spyderco Lil' Native. Using the finger choil, it fits my XL mits perfectly, and in that position I have blade control like I'm using a Mora 120. Sure, the blade stock is thicker than necessary, but the high, flat grind keeps it slicey, and it gives it a bigger knife feel to comfort our big guy egos. Rick should get on the waiting lists, and keep an eye out for sprints and exclusives. I hopped off the G-10 waiting list to jump on a carbon fiber, s90v version, and despite the sprint run surcharge I'm thrilled with it.

DCA if you read this I will feel famous! I am looking for a small edc fixed blade. I prefer a brown leather sheath that can age and show character. The smith and sons axiom is real close but I don’t like the blade on that. Ideally wood scales. If possible maybe a more budget option under 100 and an option around 200. For the edc it is nice if the leather sheath rides higher or scout. No danglers. Currently I edc a esee 3 or izula 2, with a rotation of folders.
I’m looking for a good fixed blade for edc, I really want something with a finger ring and atleast have a 3 inch blade, preferably even a bit more length than that. I’ve been looking at the toor knives serpent but have heard bad things about the brand so im looking for alternatives to that knife, maybe even at a cheaper price. Thx!

Would you use to skin bigger wire? If so, I’d recommend something with a decent recurve. It helps to keep you from slipping out of the insulation & the roundness of the recurve follows the roundness of the exposed braided copper.

Can you help me find a fixed blade edc with K390 steel? I have an endela in k390 and its become my favorite folder to use and im confused as to why the steel isnt common in fixed blades yet
