We kept seeing a handful of videos with tens of millions of views like this that stole our content without asking and without any form of credit or source at all. We decided that we should just post it ourselves in an attempt to help reach a new audience. Sorry if the third person title is cringey, but we’re assuming a video like this could reach beyond our current audience.

Respectively the magnetosheath is the region of space between the magnetopause and the bow shock of a planet's magnetosphere.
You may argue that the Apollo mission couldn't have gone through the deadly Van Allen belts due to the high radiation levels. However,
it's important to remember that 99% of the deadly mass is outside of these belts. But inside of Earth's magnetosphere has never been encountered the 99% mass because it only receives one percent of those particles.
That's the purpose and function of the bow shock, which is why Earth and Mars are completely different. Without a spacecraft designed with a magnetosphere, we cannot leave Earth's magnetosphere.

On the contrary Elon took full credit for the idea even when clearly the interviewer made the suggestion. The Utuber literally suggested the biggest impact and Elons ego wouldn't let him give credit where credit was due.
@@ZND572 interesting take, im kind of confused how you’re getting a negative sense out of this whole thing? like for example theres no ego in this specific clip and elon isn’t being snarky or anything like that so how does your brain process this conclusion? just wondering

He did a long interview on it and I think he even mentioned it in another long interview with I think it was called the third row Tesla podcast. It was like 2 interviews with the same people. One was over 4 hours and the other was over 3 hours. It's something Elon has done before with Tesla, he uses intelligent questions to inspire changes in his product and to make it better. Oh and the guy interviewing Elon is everyday astronaut. The guy literally knows everything about rocket engines and his merch is literally technical diagrams of the different rocket engines. He's exceptionally bright and not just another TH-camr. I think he literally studied it and physics in college. He went in purposely wanting to ask this question because he couldn't understand why it hadn't already been done. Because it obviously COULD be done. Yes Elon WOULD have figured it out sooner or later like he did with self landing rockets. He keeps tinkering with it till it works reliably and then builds better and better add ons.
That's one benefit of being transparent to the fans and nerds
Musk is hardly transparent. The whole point of starship is it would be able to travel the world and refuel like a car with a gas tank. Falcon was supposed to be 1/10th the cost per launch. All of this was supposed to be done years ago.

I find it hard to believe that Musk makes much direct technical input into Starship development. @@Jehty21 what do you mean? There were 2 options, make the design changes or keep with what they had.

@@Drenwickification but there was no feedback given in this video.
It's an interview. Tim just asks questions.
And Musk picked up on that question and used that as the starting point for a train of thought.
It was cool to watch his brain roll with that question, and realize how it could be applied else where to improve the success rate of the entire mission. This was a very interesting interview from start to finish, actually.

I can’t describe how much this sort of raw honest vulnerability makes me happy. It’s so hard to be like this and almost no one in power is, genuinely a fraction of a percent I reckon. If our leaders just had that ability, the world could be so, so much better and people wouldn’t have to suffer nearly as much as they do.
Our leaders seem to want us to suffer. At least the current ones in the US certainly do. Sick.

He didn't actually suggest it to him. He just said "but that's only for the booster".
The genius was to recycle hot gas as propulsion.
Nobody deserves credit for suggesting another use of something they haven't invented if they don't even know how it can be implemented.
It took 8 months, and that is probably the reason it was not done before (engineers would have noticed that redundancy anyway. it is what they do)

Exactly. His ego is bigger than starship.
The best contribution is always asking the right questions.

The genius is the one who invented the recycling the hot gas as propulsion. To suggest it can be used elsewhere is something they would have done to anyway. That is how prototypes work
Nothing is a given and even if so in what time frame....
NASA 😀
It occurred to him while he was talking though. The question had nothing to do with it. He almost said thanks, but realized there was nothing to appreciate
its great how big business man are always open to new ideas without any egos
I like how Elon just keeps it real. He doesn't act like a bot.
@@Elonmusk-dz9vebut you definitely act like a bot

I just wish he'd just stick to things I can respect as an engineer, rather than throwing accusations at ppl trying to help others or aiding pootin by limiting Starlink in Ukraine. He doesn't have to worry about selling his cars in ruzzia, they are going to be bankrupt for decades. I love that he is tearing up the rule book when it comes to space flight. But he needs to stop meddling in politics. It's not his forte.
Kudos to you, using the Socratic method and taking no credit! Enjoy your Starship ride, you deserve it!
Elon didn’t just say “no we got this” then changed it. He legit gave the guy credit and fixed it!
Pretty rare fr.
I didn't feel like he actually gave the guy credit. "It occurred to me while I was explaining it to you..." The interviewer was clearly leading him there.
Not really...if you hear his hindsight version he says 'i just realized while explaining it to you.' the other dude totally explained it to HIM. Elons famous for taking credit for other ppls ideas.
I love the fact that he's humble enough to say you made me realize
He almost said thank you😂
He never want to say that word 😅
He actually did say thanks in the first part of the clip
@@Internetmoney_x78He said thanks, you dummy
@@ansar2137These people are soo stupid, unbelievable

This is what i love about Elon Musk he doesnt think he has all the answers and he actually listens to what other people say, and i am sure that in an interview in the future they will ask him about this decision and he will say yeah Tim Everday Astronaut on youtube interviewing me pointed it out and i was "ohhh that makes a lot of sense, we are going to change that now"
hello pretty how are you today you most be a nice person and also a woman of virtue I really enjoy all that you shared in your profile kindly send me a friend request because it's difficult adding you up from here thanks
I love that he’s open to anything
A huge pet-peeve I have is offering "good" ideas and having them shot down because the boss didn't think of it only to have it come up in future when they said they thought it up
What an intellect, rather than get defensive he reviews the concept and goes with it, genius of our generation
The fact he took on the idea , what a
This shows that Elon musk doesn’t have a huge ego or is narcissistic
Isn’t that the bare minimum though?

When you're trying to make something work with humility instead of ensuring everyone knows how smart you are, you actually become the smartest guy in the room.
If one focuses on one thing, one may leave out the other. The great question brought it all together.
This is why humans need eachother
That is perhaps the most Elon moment among Elon moments. The ability *and willingness* to think about and make such a huge design decision - although we can be sure he & his team gave it a very thorough look before implementing it.
I met Elon Musk in 2000 and we discussed many of these ideas. There isn't a smarter business developer or CEO that has done what Elon has done with Tesla or SpaceX. Elon is even building multiple Starships for the consideration of commercial space exploration and colonization. Some people think they are smarter than Elon but I have yet to see anyone outsmart him. Using methane and oxygen, also known as ultra cool methylox for his Starship Rockets was brilliant considering most planets we will land on will have the ingredients to propel the Starships further out of our solar system and back. Of course the use of helium 3 in a nuclear fusion rocket would take us to the depths of our solar system and further a lot faster. Over the period of a few years he can realign him self back in the winning seat because he's already aware of the steps he has to take and he's already making them! Elon Musk is making the world cleaner and better place to live for many generations to come. I don't know if you could say the same for the fossil fuel industry! Even though the businesses we talked about we're going to be incredibly difficult to become successful at, there was a good chance of success! That's why we talked about ways of reducing advertising, manufacturing and distribution costs. Elon was going to move forward regardless, he said they were all good ideas and should be done. We even talked about ways of slingshotting your initial business by becoming your own best supplier. This eliminates being controlled by your suppliers. Innovative people with integrity expect to be believed otherwise they let time prove them right. So let's shoot for the Moon and Mars, then we will live amongst the Stars!
Who are you man
Shows he's open to improving coming from discussions
Even the brightest minds might need the simplest of questions from those who are seriously interested in being taught.
