This. It gets a little disheartening when trying to learn the game and the commentators are giving me flack for not knowing how to play yet. ITS MY FIRST ROUND GUYS
I tried playing this game for shits and giggles and wtf?! I was sailing every shot, missing every putt, skipping every pitch, messing every flop. Lol dude what was wrong with TIGER 07 ffs
@@pakelikaforprezz I got this on game pass a few days ago. I was really struggling at first but my advice would be to finish a round. You get xp which you can use to level up your golfer. With that and a bit more feel for the game, I'm now humiliating the amateur circuit. I've just been offered my first place on the pga tour. Wish me luck
Putting tutorial will come later. For now, I'm clueless understanding the two putting lines behind the ball related to the power needed for the distance.
I've been playing video golf since Leaderboard on the Commadore 64 computer. Four guys four chairs paying homage to the Temple. Now my son gets this game and gets me hooked again so PS5 it now. This game is a challenge compared to the old Tiger. Your channel is a big help, thanks for all the work put into these videos.
The biggest thing to master imo is the swing under/over slow/fast. I use balanced and slowest style and tempo and did some experimenting and turned off the swing meter to try to find the timing of the swing and found that it’s a 3 second swing from beginning to end being 1…2 in the back swing and swinging forward on 2. And I’m swinging close to oerfect every time. Within 0.1-0.3 percent. And that same timing is for ANY SHOT TYPE. Even putting.
I finally got some time to try these tips, especially looking at the golfer rather than the meter. Before making that one change I was struggling and looking like I wouldn't even survive the cut after round 2. Then I used the tip...and won the tournament. Even the misses were MUCH closer to the line, making one putts more plentiful. Thank you!
Great advice, that is how I play 2k by watching the golfer to the top of the swing. Am finding this game a struggle but will persevere as is a good challenge. Thanks midnight.👍👍👍
Nice video. I was focussing on the flag too much and ended up over hitting shots. With approach shots now, i usually land a bit before the flag so that the ball rolls up the hole with the momentum. It's all practice though until you get into the swing of it ;)
Loving these videos and tips totally new to golf games always trying out your advice which is helping me getting an understanding of the game very much appreciated
Great video! My biggest struggle in this game is my approach The ball always seems to want to roll off no matter how I shape the shot or what shot type I use, other than flops.
Yep this and pitch shots. I have to aim my pitches waaaaaay short of my intended target. I mean, I get that a pitch shot is intended to go low, bounce, and go into a roll, but there's a ton of guess work as to how far it'll roll, and goes without saying you heavily have to factor in the topography of the green. I'm jist horrible at predicting how far the ball will roll once it does hit the green. It's frustrating but also pushes me to keep playing more until I can get better at improving upon it.
Great video, appreciated. Overswing has been my Achilles heal. Makes sense playing conservatively and going for the underswing. I have been leathering the swing, with each swing going over more often than not.
Something you didn't mention during your tip #3 is that the numbers actually cancel out. The over/under swing percentage and fast/slow percentage cancel each other out. So a 1% underswing and a 2% fast will equal a +1% power.
@@tictac4949 because you've imparted less spin on the ball. A faster strike will grip the grooves more and provide backspin. That's actually how it works.
@@matt79hz yea that makes sense, but depending on the swing and club the extra forward momentum would nullify the little bit of extra spin thats added. If you’re hitting a flop with a 60 degree then yea but pitching or chipping with a 7 iron not so much. The ball also loses spin the longer it’s in flight, so who knows the math on that haha but If we’re talking about +2% power here then I’m not sure it’ll make much of a difference. But in regards to the game, I think it actually does take this into account. If I hit a 60 yard flop with full backspin then it’ll check and come back more than if I hit a 30 yard flop with full backspin. This is obviously a larger scale than plus or minus 2% power but it does seem to represent the difference in roll in the game.
Underswing is not a bad idea to take spin off, but I found when hitting a short iron, pitching wedge all the way down to lob wedge, that it helps to play a 3 or 4 yard draw which naturally hit is lower and takes spin off
It's terrible because I am not too bad at golf in real life, but this games suffices on the days I can't go, always has been, and this one is rough, especially the putting pre predicted line. I am use to the classic guess a spot, THEN use your preview. 2k23 has it, but it's always been an EA pga tour thing. I understand they are trying to make it harder and more realistic, but when im golfing better than I play, something is off.😂 Definitely a different feel in some aspects. And I've been playing this series as long as I can remember.
Ugh I didn't know there was a swing tempo option One of my biggest issues is, compared to my guy in 2k, the swing is so slow and it just takes forever for backswing to finish. Def gonna try changing that when I finish watching video
nice suggestions mate, been struggling with slow swings and didn't even think about going back to player settings to try out different swing speed, styles etc
Haven't played a golf game in years. It seems like setting the distance doesn't matter. I will underswing and it will go way farther. Seems like being accurate is an extreme struggle and does I seem to make any sense.
This is great content and a great page! Appreciate you putting this together. I have one question and one observation I would appreciate you commenting on. I'm frustrated that the stakes are not very high on the drives. It doesn't seem like there's much of a chance for player to hit a TERRIBLE drive - every one of my drives is normally in the fairway or first cut, they do not normally go offline by much and I think that takes away from the realism of the game. This is aided by the instant feedback if you have a swing that's off plane - is this the case for everyone else? It just seems like driving the ball on each hole is a formality and not critical. Second - I cannot identify a consistent reason why a shot would be a pull, push, slice, or hook other then if the swing is off plane. Is there anything in the "overswing/underswing" or "fast/slow" swing meter that would determine a mis-hit? There are times where I hit it slow and it draws (I would think it would be opposite) Fast usually pushes the ball offline. Thoughts on this? Thanks again!
1. I would agree. Driving with decent attributes is pretty easy. 2. The percentages cancel out, so your ball will be more offline if you're fast and overswing. Another reason why I underswing because it balances out my fast. Not having a straight vertical meter is really the only thing. Other results are random based on %.
Great tips thank you. The best I could find yet. My biggest issue with the stick swing is that the ball will just randomly hook or slice no matter what I try to do. I would play 36 holes where the game hits it dead straight , and then all out of the blue it will hook and slice the next 18 holes. I got so fedup and frustrated with that that I went to keyboard swing just to stop the direction go crazy. What causes such inconsistency and how can one remedy it ?
Hey you have great content, and also pga tour is popping up everywhere now. Have you considered making more videos again? I know it’s people out here like me who will love to watch your videos for more tips
Hey bud donno when you mentioned it but given EA history and my calculations I’m almost positive the max level cap is 50. Total of 192 stats in game with power being the most weighted by a landslide. This means that in total you would max out at 100 which provides a wide range of different player types online as increasing power sacrifices other stats drastically. Hope this helps!
I guess what I'm looking for is how to use the controller to swing. I use the click method because that's what I used back in the day when Playing Links on PC back in the 80's & 90's. Can you point me in the right direction on how to do that? Thanks!
I was trying to play this game with a controller that had a messed up left joystick. I could tell it was messed up by going into steam, big picture view, settings, controller, calibrate controller. Joystick would not go back to center point after going up and down. On the menu screen things were going up and down uncontrollably as well. Trying to play this game with a messed up controller is an absolute nightmare. I have bought a new xbox series controller and everything is working properly now. Left joystick on new controller goes back to center point in steam controller settings. If you have the same problems your controller might need to be repaired or in my case, I just bought a new one. This messed up controller might be less noticeable in other games but in this game it is very noticeable especially in the menu and the swing. I was scratching my head for a while until i went into steam calibrate controller settings. To go into big picture mode go to view in top right and click big picture, then click menu button in bottom right with xbox circle logo, then hit settings, then controller, then calibration & advanced settings. They do a good job of hiding this setting.
Does swing tempo help with the follow through of the swing? no matter how fast I push my swing stick forward it always says slow - so would changing the swing tempo to slow help that?

@MidKnightYT yes, but there are tines the wind is coming back towards me, and when I hit it. It goes farther than the Grey spot. There are times I hit at 100% and it is short by 20yards with wind blowing straight. Its really odd and is not consistent at all. It's very frustrating
wish the game had a better tutorial. It's approach with the tutorials is like "To build a house, you need to build a basement first. Now built basement 5x." Which is cool and all, but if you have no idea how to build a basement, that is not helpful at all ^^
Never mind testing in challenges there should be a free practice mode

And it's making this impossible to play, because I can't ever have an idea where the ball will fuxking gooooooooooo
Are there wind or elevation? Shot tape changes?
@MidKnightYT yes, but there are tines the wind is coming back towards me, and when I hit it. It goes farther than the Grey spot. There are times I hit at 100% and it is short by 20yards with wind blowing straight. Its really odd and is not consistent at all. It's very frustrating
Is there a driving range or anything? Can’t find it
Can anyone tell me how to spin the ball? The button is it say X or L one but they don’t give me any extra spin when I hit them after my shot
What system are you on? If it is playstation or Xbox tap the left bumper or L1 and use the left stick to determine direction
wish the game had a better tutorial. It's approach with the tutorials is like "To build a house, you need to build a basement first. Now built basement 5x." Which is cool and all, but if you have no idea how to build a basement, that is not helpful at all ^^
How are you able to get the ball to not roll 40 yards? When i make my approach it rolls too far and i end up with 30 feet putts
See my video I just posted
How do you get that line on your meter?
I don't have that mark for the underswing
@@tmg5214 they removed it from the game. Use the color change from the meter to red and watch the golfers hands as a reference
Hi,could you please tell me if this game is available on Xbox S series? Thank you.
Next generation consoles only, so yes
