    *Thank you for your insights. Scotty's significant contributions are evident in his above-the-waist setup, arm positioning, both shoulder full rotation, and the balance of his left arm 🔥 to achieve the desired sweet spot action on the plane and path chosen.*

    Works for Scotty because he does other things that compensate for the lateral shift and excessive spine tilt 2:43. If this move is taught, it needs to come with auxiliary moves to prevent dumping the club under the plane.

      Certainly needs matching up correctly to emulate his exact move, but shifting more is something that all amateurs can benefit from

    Thanks for an excellent video. I watched it before my round this morning and it reminded me to keep my head in the shot and to back tilt for pure strikes. Unfortunately, I sometimes lose these mechanics and can’t figure out the cause of poor and inconsistent contact.

    How does Scottie do driver? Off the tee? How much does that weight shifting change?

      Still shifts a decent amount but with more upper body tilt back 👍🏼

    Sort of hurt my hand too….ripped skin off contact point on grip of middle finger of left hand during second bucket at range 2 days ago … wish i could say it was some massive strikes that caused it , but no, it was working on trying to get more speed on my 54 yr old ass’s drive to make up for age loss of distance …😜glad u put the caveat about this maybe not working for a non pro. I have to constantly work on not getting to tall/over the top in my swing.

    I had been wondering why his rear foot slides forward. This video shows why he has to move it and the slide move that causes it. It makes me wonder how any golfer who finishes on the left side can keep their right foot back in its original position but they do it somehow. I tried for years to get my hands further ahead at impact but the only way I can do it is to slide the whole body to the left more, so that only the top of my head has not moved to the left (except feet of course).

    So all we have to do is move the ball further back in our stance? Lol

    "Matchups in the golf swing". Yes indeed J! Too much golf instruction lacks this fine print so thank you! And one other aspect that needs to be emphasized. One of the very few universal golf truths to hitting like a professional hitters. A "steady" head. Note how little Scottie's or any pro's head moves laterally from address to impact. This does lots of things, but generally speaking it secures the lead shoulders relationship (radius) to the ball. Picture a pendulum. This is so critical to consistently maintaining the low spot of the swing axis produced at address. So yes you can plant and shift like Scottie, but if you don't keep your head from shifting it will not be productive! In my experience this the least intuitive aspect of the swing. In all other sports where you plant your feet and throw a ball forward, its fine for your head to follow the lower body weight transfer a bit. Not in golf!

      Agreed! Watched myself on the camera's record and it resulted in me topping the ball as I couldn't hold my head at the center line.

    • @djpoints
      @djpoints 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@harrytran3246 love to hear! You've just passed a major milestone in figuring it out. A steady head doesn't solve everything of course, but it prevents so much wasted time trying to compensate for a lack of it. Just be careful not to get too obsessed and completely lock your head up. Jack has the most famous example of what to do. A little side eye at address, maintained throughout backswing to give lead shoulder space, then approaching impact swivel back a bit like your dumping water out of your trail ear. A famous pro said that once, can't recall who. Or if you played baseball think about a throw from SS to 2nd or 1st. Hogan said this once and its perfect!

    There is a difference between your video and the move of Scotty. His head stays at the same place until impact. Did you intent this?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Drills when done without a ball will have exaggerated movements that won’t occur with the ball due to no ball being hit. The head moving forward being one of those 👍🏼

    I'm almost 50. I fear what would happen if I transitioned to this...more power to you if you can swing like this.

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Don’t fear shifting. It’s a move every golfer needs to do in order to move the low point forward. Better ball striking is what you’ll experience.

    • @richyclubsport5155
      @richyclubsport5155 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm 70 and still shift considerably, a must for good ball strikes, although I now tend to start with more weight on my front foot than I used to. Probably why I still have a low single figure handicap. Try bowling with a golf ball, it's an underarm throw and you can't not shift, if you want accuracy and power.

    • @The_Norse_Hunk
      @The_Norse_Hunk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richyclubsport5155Damn...really? I was taught not to shift. I picked up some Ben Hogan's a few years ago and can't hit them. I'm actually going to a fitting tomorrow (first time)! I don't have any time to try this at the range before my fitting, but am interested...It's just really hard to rework a swing, you know?

      Definitely don’t copy his exact move, but he does exemplify the importance of shifting. We all don’t need to shift the amount he does to be good ball strikers that’s for sure
