I have a CU2 accord as a daily , hitting 240000 . No issues , extremely reliable. Tows the trailer . Thought it was the flashest car I bought. It is an auto , leather , sunroof. Best 6 grand ever spent.
Have been using 2007 Accord 2.0 (US/CM4) since 2015. Love the ride until now. But then I've decided to work on converting the slow & boring K20A7 to CL9 K24 with some tweaks on the engine ECU and headers.... can't wait to get it done...Love from Malaysia!

Absolutely agree, I feel lucky enough to have found a 6sp cl9. I’ve had it for over 2 years now, definitely keeping it for a while. Completely stock, but brings a smile to my face every time i drive it.
I got my first car in 2017, a six generation Accord 1.8 136hp. A glorious car, seriously, but since then, I got into honda world and this 2.4 accord become my dream car, It has all that my old accord lakes, power, a nice modern interior and exterior and a huge modding potential where you can spend money and don't feel like a waste, in the other things are almost identical because 6 generation are an incredible car. I agree bro. Its a fantastic car when modified. I've looked at other cars but can't find anything similar. In the future when my boy racing days are over, I'll most likely get a Lexus.
I've had my '03 since '05. Purchased with 67k on clock. Now has 379k. Have replaced ignition coils and clutch apart from battery, oils and normal stuff. I love this car. Clear coat on paint is rapidly failing. Mostly on panels that have been touched up before. Original paint is still pretty good. Not using much oil between changes. No more than a litre in 10,000k. Best car I've ever had. Getting 12.5 k per litre, (35.5mpg) so very happy. Mine is a 6 speed manual.
A work colleague had a similar honda, but auto. He sold it 2 years ago with over 420k on clock. It was still running well. Only used oil when it was due for an oil change. He was doing about 800k per week, so got plenty of hot running.
Let's say you managed to convince me LOL Bought my first Honda today. A 7th gen accord Type S. Beautiful looks, best clutch responsiveness and feel I've had so far (I seriously had a big fear it could be bad, considering other regular cars with manual I have driven and this being a sporty one). Took it the long route to home and almost skid it into a big-ass snow pile trying to make a swift U-turn using full throttle. I live in northern Europe and we had kind of a stormy winter evening so roads are slippery, and you can often have some fun all while staying responsible. But snow tires had none of it this evening and gripped too well. All because after the very first gas pedal press you understand that this car just invites you to play with it. It instantly responds whether or not you decide to be goofy with it. Looking forward to do some minor mods to it. Only problem I've had so far is that it interminnently almost stalls at idle and then revs up again to dodge it from dying. At very consistent intervals, just idling, gear or no gear, nor even clutch doesn't seem to matter. Considered cleaning or replacing idle control valve, but it's so consistent with timing, I'm not really sure what it could be
Cl9 was my first ever car. A lot of panel beats, but as a young kid, i was happy. I was always on fb marketplace and auto parts looking for parts. Swapping out my pre face model for euro side skirts bumper and rear. Added mugen wing too and coilovers. I honestly love the way it looks. It age so well, a 2004 accord still looks so brand new and top tier. My only problem was that the engine was the 160hp variant. I had to let it go because it was boring and slow. I wanted something light, fun, high revving, and for myself only. I got myself a dc5 type s. I'm looking to add Type R wing, exhaust and sri (cai is too dangerous for this car esp winter season in auckland). Right now im happy with my buy. I'm also sad I cant bring my friends with me. If i ever get bored, I know I can always go back to the accords and not regret the buy.
My 06' TSX is my most satisfactory purchase up to date. ...bought it used with 15,000km....and then currently reaching 420,000km. No major repairs, only alternator and starter.....just do frequent oil changes every 5000km.
My brother recently brought a Honda Accord with the K series engine and he loves it. It's not the Euro R but it still is a beast. Meanwhile, my next car is going to be a Honda Fit 1.5l VTEC, not just because my brother has a Honda and they make some of the best engines in the world. But because the Fit is everything I wanted from my last car I owned, the Volkswagen New Beetle that I owned for 6 months.
I have CL9 Type S 2006 with 110k miles on the Odo in bone stock condition and planning to keep it in stock. Here in Pakistan these cars are getting rare now but even worse is spare parts availability. Still the fun of driving it is just so good that I am not looking to part with it anytime soon.
Picked up a 2011 CU2 luxury Manual recently and it's amazing, can't wait till i can headswap it and start tuning, even stock it has pull and always puts a smile on my face, handles really well too!
If you got spare money and is available somewhere, import yourself a Honda Accord CL9 Jdm one. Has some cool features such as parking pole, factory reverse camera etc.
I too own a 2.4i cl9 accord. Imo its not the most comfortable car if you are driving down a highway, but man is it good on a curvy road. Probably the best car i have driven in a curvy road. Ofc it makes a difference that i have a bc racing suspension, but still easily the best car i have drviven on a curvy road!
Yeah true although must depend on the speed and surface you drive on. I find mine to be one of the best long distance cars I've owned even despite the mods
I got a accord 2.2 I cdti (diesel version). It's pretty good.I just done a remap now it's 195 horse power. It's really powerful. You should test drive a remap 2.2 cdti .Soo much power
@@VictorNUribe Yes.I have driven the 2.0 155 horsepower and its weak. But when I get in the 2.2 I cdti is another thing. SOO much power .It's really fun to drive. From 1800 to 3800 its The best power. Here in Europe we drive a lot of diesel cars.
My only worry is that with time the aftermarket time will disappear but jeez accord CL7 and cl9 feel so good to drive and manages to look good and modern as well
I love my 2003 so much, i just bought an 07 in case my 03 lets me down. My 2003 has got 382,000k on clock, so one day, something may fail, but i got a back up car now. Nice to have a lower mileage L model.
I bought a Accord Euro K24A3 for my 16 year old son, I love that it's fast but not too fast and yes it's fun, I liked it so much I bought a CRV manual for my wagon to take the dog out and with the K24A1 it's fun but a little slow so I've bought the K24A2 for it. yes my other cars are much much faster, but I can't use the power they have on the street without risking my license in about 3 seconds
Nice man yeah accord euros make great first cars. Good for learning car control in something not too quick. And I'd love to see a crv with an a2! That would be a really interesting build. I'm thinking about doing it myself too tbh
I just sold my Euro R, for the price that i sold at I wouldn't buy another one. They are amazing cars and the price of them will keep increasing so it is somewhat of an investment too.
Hey mate, like the content. Manual CL9s are rare and have high kms here in Aus. Do you know of anyone who has modded and reflashed an auto? If so, is it still a great car to drive?
I love our cars so much! I wish I had the manual transmission but hey gives me the option to add that LSD into one when I convert her over one day. Thanks
Would love to get one but here in Finland they are total rust buckets unfortunately. I have a 2003 Honda HR-V and it's starting to go bad pretty fast with the winters.
I love your videos. 👍 I'm an old man with no budget. So I purchased a 2001 Honda ferio RS auto. What can u tell me about it? Haven't seen a video on ur channel about rs Civic's any good?
I had a cold air intake, but through a series of trades with fans, and failed plans I ended up back where I was with the modified simota cd5 short ram. Eventually I'll go back to cold air
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah right, so you do prefer the cold air at the end of the day? I want to show you the way I've set up my intake and see what you think, is there a way to send photos on here?
@@davidm6302 message me on insta @kiwicarlife.yt cold air is definitely better. Prevents heat soaking and makes more power because it sucks in denser air
It do be flying though. Thinking about buying this car after I get my restricted cause I love hondas as well. Reliable and good with both fuel and performance. One question mate do you know what the fuel economy is. I dont mind if its high but just curious cause I wonder how it matches up with other cars at the level
What people dont get is that when you mod it you gain 60+ hp at 6000rpm and 60+nm at 6000rpm. And all you need for that is intake, header, tune for the price of 900euro.
Yeah that's a point I forgot to mention in the video... that's the whole point. You spend less to buy an Accord, and then mod it to be as fast as something more expensive
Basically it's a platform that has easy real gains through modifications and is probably underrated compared to the arguably overhyped and priced type R models?
@@christopherjohnston6343 nothing will come close to a true type r imo. But, I like this because it's the underdog... Yet, with mods it'll outrun a euro r. I love that about it
@@christopherjohnston6343 it's exactly that. ONLY with reflash this Accord is quicker than a civic type R FN2, but you wont get the type R experience just with than of course... To have a type R experience you need spend money, is not all about power. You will need get a closer final drive, lighter flywheel, and LSD, intake and exhaust manifold, 50 degree VTC, bigger throttle body, more agressive cams, exhaust... And hondata of course . With all of that you will get about 270hp and overcome SO FAR any naturally aspirated type R, believe me, but is time and money.
Had a CU2 and moved on to the latest gen CRV with 1.5 turbo. Both bring a grin and are potent, each respectively. Nothing wrong with the sound of 1.5T’s from Honda imo
Or a mazda 6 mps, theyre good as well Speaking of which , can you do a review and race between your accord euro and a mazda 6 mps? It would be interesting to see the results as I have raced one with my accord
I have one with the 2.2 i-ctdi and it is a really great and good looking car also a lot of fun especially in the summer but I am having problems with the clutch slipping some times and sometimes works just fine, because the adjustment system gets stuck or doesn't work properly. That takes a bit out of the enjoyment of driving with it and also I would need more power and awd for the winter but otherwise I would plan on keeping it for many more years even though it is not as fun and epic to drive as some other cars I drive
@@KiwiCarLife yeah, idk it has been doing it for the whole time I've had it, so it's been like over two and half years. Thinking of selling it and getting something awd for the next winter as dailying a fwd in Finnish winter isn't always that fun when there is 20cm of snow everywhere
@@KiwiCarLife if they did, I need one. It would be the perfect daily for me if it has manual gearbox and the k24. Even though even the fwd is one of the few fwd cars that is fun to slide around in the snow. I think my accord has gone sideways more than most rwd cars😂😂
What kind of km/l do these get ? And do you have to use premium 95 or 98 gas?? Given they are 1520kg they must get through the gas. How do they drive compared to the oldAltima/Blubird SR20DE or KA24DE ? Nice video thanks for posting!
@@KiwiCarLife Sounds normal. I am in Auckland have an old EU13 1993 bluebird, its an old work hack but thinking about buying an accord euro. I've read mixed reviews on them in terms of kick down performance with the 5 speed auto. I know Hondas and Toyotas last a long time but I wonder how long these engines really will last, at least they have a timing chain. My nissan SR18DE has 340000km I wonder if it will ever die lol.
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah they drive nice, honda engines run forever. However I don't see many with over 300000 km's yet. Do you have to manually adjust the lifters ?
Got a question, btw love you're channel mate (from Australia) I have a accord euro (luxury) And trying to mod it I found a couple of hsk exhausts but is says Euro type R not the actual base model does that even matter? It's the same body isn't it. So bottom line if I brought a mod for the accord euro Type R would it still work on base luxury model. Still classed as a CL9
Counter argument? How much of the brilliance was the $1000s of dollars of mods poured into this beast? I seriously considered one of these a few years back when there were plenty around $5-6k. You pay a lot more these days for a car that in stock form is possibly more of a competent cruiser? It's also a the chunky side for roads such as Dyers pass and Summit road in CHCH which limits the fun - pushing the balance for me towards smaller cars
Yeahh I get that man. It's a big car for nz roads. And yeah I've poured a lot of money into it so it better be good haha. That said, I've long maintained you don't have to spend as much as I did to get the same results. Get some used lowering springs, headers and a reflash and it'll be basically as good for a fraction of the cost...
Those are ndz dollars first of all. Second you cand do alot for not much on this cars especially if you diy it. For me header 500e Custom intake 40e Filter 60e Custom R.Sway bar 40e Strut bar free Exhaust 300eur 2x tune 500eur Stock 190hp now 230hp 255nm 100 to 200 stock 24sec Now 16.5sec

Hey bro you think it’s worth getting a reflash, headers and intake when my euros an auto? I want to have some fun with the car but I have hand injury which prevents me from driving stick
I’m trying to get a daily first car CL7 and debating if I should get a 145k km vs 100k km mileage car in which the 100k km mileage car cost $30k HKD more . Not sure if I should stick to the high mileage one as it will depreciate less anyways and not worth it for the added money for 45k km more mileage. What do you think? The 100k of course looks better with some mugen parts and 145k has a Js racing exhaust.
Hey man I have a question? Did you reflash your euro stock? Or did you have mods before the flash? I'm thinking of doing the flash but leaving it stock for a while
I am trying to find an Honda Accord in manual but they are asking to much just for a 2004 model so I am thinking just to keep my primary because it has been taking me so many places even tho it’s done 445.305km
Im looking to buy my first car and Im looking at the cl7 so the 2.0 and its wagon variant. Do you think it will make a good first car ? and does the 2.0 also have modding potential?
Hi I was wondering if you can install PLM headers on a stock exhaust, as I just have a muffler and res delete. If I can will are the performance gains worth it ? Any advice would be appreciated thank you
I've had maany Hondas, and I must say this car is not that Honda-quality anymore what it was at 80-90s (like many other cars), but everything is breaking around 150-200tkm like alternator, steering rack, clutch, timing chain, engine mounts, crank seal, power steering pump etc. My older accords, civics, prelude etc. had these same problems around 300-400tkm. Front suspension/steering rack is kinda weak to begin, and with lowering and bigger alloys you should prepare buying suspension parts regularly no matter OEM or what. Where winter conditions apply, rust is killing these already fast, specially from rear. If rear arches have rust on top, it's already too late, also rear subframes are rotting away and getting harder to get everyday, many working cars are dismantled because of that. Top of that you get the softest paint ever that is a nightmare to maintain, moisture in the headlights and sound insulation of a stripped racecar. If you still want one, and if it doesn't have manual transmission and near perfect service history you shouldn't bother.
But I must say that I have my own just basically for same reasons you listed. Mine is also chipped and really like the base engine and also the looks of the car, still looks like a proper car, took mine over CU2. Now the rust is starting to creep and steering rack knocking again, I'm thinking if I should buy something else or put that money on gear ratios and headers and complete new steering rack. Almost every car I've driven kinda left me waiting "something more" for your money but none of them have justified themselves or I just make excuses and can't let go :)
@@Pottunuija hmmm I think you've just had some bad luck with yours. Having driven basically every generation accord right from the first gen in my time with a manual, the accord euro is still the best built and best looking gen imo. Might have a few issues sure, but that's not to say they won't run to 3 or 400,000km if properly maintained
@@KiwiCarLife Yes base engine is good, almost everything can be maintained, but this model Accord needs maintenance more like german car, far from Toyota type reliability. My own car is low mileage and havent got all those problems, but I have experience on many others. These cars dont like winter at all.
@@KiwiCarLife Lucky you :) also it's not only the rust, radiator ends and power steering hoses leaking and timing chain skipping etc. happens more often at freezing temps, not to mention cold start wear on basically everything. Older rubber parts (boots, seals, bushing, hose etc) were better quality because they didn't use recycled materials that much at that time, and I'm pretty sure that there is also much stuff like lead in fuel and absbestos in brakes to find more healthier but not always better alternatives.
I've been looking for a rear bumper lip for my 2007 (facelift cl9) but they're all meant for the pre facelift version 2003-2006, anyone know where I can find ones that fit on the facelift version?

was actually thinking about this car recently. While a tad heavy I think it would be a fun first track car!
Yeah I've taken mine on track it's fantastic and gives any "normal" cars a solid run
Picked up a 2011 CU2 luxury Manual recently and it's amazing, can't wait till i can headswap it and start tuning, even stock it has pull and always puts a smile on my face, handles really well too!
Awesome man sounds like a cool project
Loved this, makes me a proud owner of my 07 CL9
Cheers man good choice!
If you got spare money and is available somewhere, import yourself a Honda Accord CL9 Jdm one.
Has some cool features such as parking pole, factory reverse camera etc.
I get the appeal, but I'm happy with mine. Prefer nz new
Accord 2.4 ex here in the UK, manual box, getting ep3 gears 1-5 fitted soon, new clutch and and intake soon
Nice!
I enjoy your videos of cl9 . A question …. Does headers , cold intake , exhaust changing and these mods increase the fuel consumption ?
Nope I was still getting around 9L/100km
I got a accord 2.2 I cdti (diesel version). It's pretty good.I just done a remap now it's 195 horse power. It's really powerful. You should test drive a remap 2.2 cdti .Soo much power
Yeah would love to man, they're just super rare here
Diesel version?
@@VictorNUribe Yes.I have driven the 2.0 155 horsepower and its weak. But when I get in the 2.2 I cdti is another thing. SOO much power .It's really fun to drive. From 1800 to 3800 its The best power. Here in Europe we drive a lot of diesel cars.
My only worry is that with time the aftermarket time will disappear but jeez accord CL7 and cl9 feel so good to drive and manages to look good and modern as well
Ehh I wouldn't worry too much. There's plenty of aftermarket support for Hondas much older than these
waited all day for the new vid. worth the wait! Superb video man
Haha cheers man!
I love my 2003 so much, i just bought an 07 in case my 03 lets me down. My 2003 has got 382,000k on clock, so one day, something may fail, but i got a back up car now. Nice to have a lower mileage L model.
How good!
Gotta support red bull as a Honda fan😌
Haha classic
Yeah that's true. I wouldn't pay 15k for one either...
Hey mate, like the content. Manual CL9s are rare and have high kms here in Aus. Do you know of anyone who has modded and reflashed an auto? If so, is it still a great car to drive?
Yeah @cl9euro on insta has an auto one it's really good
I love our cars so much! I wish I had the manual transmission but hey gives me the option to add that LSD into one when I convert her over one day. Thanks
Nice man! Manual swap with LSD would be the icing on the cake for your car
Beautiful car mate. I'm looking to get a car for my daily for around 10k to 12k AUD and I think this is it if I can find a decent clean one.
Cheers man, would recommend
wonderful car. whats your opinion on the 2.0 petrol engine?
Don’t buy it it’s slow and no modification potential
Would love to get one but here in Finland they are total rust buckets unfortunately. I have a 2003 Honda HR-V and it's starting to go bad pretty fast with the winters.
Ahh yeah I imagine a lot of cars rust up there!
An alternative to a 350z could be a skyline 350gt as they are basically the same but 4 door and a lot more room, also more power.
Yeah true that would be another decent option... manual ones are a bit more expensive than these tho
Well...
350gt you also get with 2 doors but 4 seats 😁🤙
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah, manuals are a lot more expensive but I think the autos from 2007 and onwards came with paddles.
@@hondamanvtec2894 Yeah, but if you want more space then 4 door, also 4 door is faster and more luxury, but the 2 door looks more sporty.
I love your videos. 👍 I'm an old man with no budget. So I purchased a 2001 Honda ferio RS auto. What can u tell me about it? Haven't seen a video on ur channel about rs Civic's any good?
Yeah they're a decent a to b car
Hey man, love your vids. They help me be a fan of my car. So you've opted to go back to a short intake instead of cold 🥶? Why is that?
I had a cold air intake, but through a series of trades with fans, and failed plans I ended up back where I was with the modified simota cd5 short ram. Eventually I'll go back to cold air
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah right, so you do prefer the cold air at the end of the day? I want to show you the way I've set up my intake and see what you think, is there a way to send photos on here?
@@davidm6302 message me on insta @kiwicarlife.yt cold air is definitely better. Prevents heat soaking and makes more power because it sucks in denser air
I got 360,000 hard miles out of my American spec Accord. I don’t think that I have ever heard anything negative about the euro Accord .
Yeah it's a great car and gee that had a long life!
I got one I use for work, and it's more cheaper and more fun than my Ford xr5 turbo
Haha that's cool man!
Do a comparison between the CU2 and 8th gen v6 Accord!
If I can get my hands on the two I will!
@@KiwiCarLife I eagerly await to see the comparison! Love the videos brother!
It do be flying though. Thinking about buying this car after I get my restricted cause I love hondas as well. Reliable and good with both fuel and performance. One question mate do you know what the fuel economy is. I dont mind if its high but just curious cause I wonder how it matches up with other cars at the level
I average about 9L/100km
What people dont get is that when you mod it you gain 60+ hp at 6000rpm and 60+nm at 6000rpm. And all you need for that is intake, header, tune for the price of 900euro.
Yeah that's a point I forgot to mention in the video... that's the whole point. You spend less to buy an Accord, and then mod it to be as fast as something more expensive
@@KiwiCarLife and i think some people don't understand that you are spending nzd and not usd
1000 nzd is 700usd is 600eur.
Nice man yeah the new crvs are solid cars
What are the downsides to a reflash? Also how did you find all of your mods?
None really, it’s well worth it with or without other mods
Or a mazda 6 mps, theyre good as well
Speaking of which , can you do a review and race between your accord euro and a mazda 6 mps? It would be interesting to see the results as I have raced one with my accord
Yeah can do at some point. They're a lot more expensive than an accord here tho
mazda 6 eats the accord, it’s got more power and its AWD
@@solomonerjok1405 yeah not really a great comparison. Would have to compare accord euro with an na 2.3 Mazda 6
Nice man, sounds like you need a new clutch or slave cylinder!
@@KiwiCarLife yeah, idk it has been doing it for the whole time I've had it, so it's been like over two and half years. Thinking of selling it and getting something awd for the next winter as dailying a fwd in Finnish winter isn't always that fun when there is 20cm of snow everywhere
@@PlatinumAgar oh yeah true man, they did make accord euro’s with Awd in Japan?
@@KiwiCarLife if they did, I need one. It would be the perfect daily for me if it has manual gearbox and the k24. Even though even the fwd is one of the few fwd cars that is fun to slide around in the snow. I think my accord has gone sideways more than most rwd cars😂😂
Can't find any here in Melbourne. If there's a half decent one it gets snapped up instantly. Bloody shame
Ahhh that's frustrating man... I'm sure you'll find one soon!
What kind of km/l do these get ? And do you have to use premium 95 or 98 gas?? Given they are 1520kg they must get through the gas. How do they drive compared to the oldAltima/Blubird SR20DE or KA24DE ? Nice video thanks for posting!
I average like 8L/100km
@@KiwiCarLife Sounds normal. I am in Auckland have an old EU13 1993 bluebird, its an old work hack but thinking about buying an accord euro. I've read mixed reviews on them in terms of kick down performance with the 5 speed auto. I know Hondas and Toyotas last a long time but I wonder how long these engines really will last, at least they have a timing chain. My nissan SR18DE has 340000km I wonder if it will ever die lol.
@@TB1M1 the accords are very well built cars. And get the engine and trans tuned by kflash and it'll kick down all good. They go well
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah they drive nice, honda engines run forever. However I don't see many with over 300000 km's yet. Do you have to manually adjust the lifters ?

18"
Absolutely marvellous.
Thanks man!
honda yes your right love what you say mate

Got a question, btw love you're channel mate (from Australia) I have a accord euro (luxury) And trying to mod it I found a couple of hsk exhausts but is says Euro type R not the actual base model does that even matter? It's the same body isn't it. So bottom line if I brought a mod for the accord euro Type R would it still work on base luxury model. Still classed as a CL9
Yep CL9 and CL7 parts are mostly interchangeable
Counter argument? How much of the brilliance was the $1000s of dollars of mods poured into this beast?
I seriously considered one of these a few years back when there were plenty around $5-6k. You pay a lot more these days for a car that in stock form is possibly more of a competent cruiser?
It's also a the chunky side for roads such as Dyers pass and Summit road in CHCH which limits the fun - pushing the balance for me towards smaller cars
What else would you recommend as an alternative to one of these today? Looking to purchase my first car and was considering one
For me header 500e
Custom intake 40e
Filter 60e
Custom R.Sway bar 40e

Yep certainly and the gains would be just as good. The exhaust doesn't really add much performance. Header is where the gains are
Thanks bro! love the vids appreciate the help
@@Pottunuija well thankfully our winters don't involve much snow lol so rust isn't a huge problem
Should 200,000kms on a Accord euro (CL9) affect my decision to buy it?
Not really if it has a good service history
