Awesome young brothers. Paulee.... I am proud of you man.. You all will go far.. continue to use your gift to bless others, and stay humble.. All of you are "something serious".. !!!
ok for yall who cant hear, trust me theses guys goin in, I like that they all got there on feel on the music, playing outside the pocket but still in time, I DIG THIS!!!!!!
I met Carlos at G Center. And we jammed talked and I think he was surprise that I knew the name for all the techniques he was doing. I only hope that some of my brothers of the drum can help people like my self and others to get a chance to learn from you. Thank you for the video. I will learn a lot from it. Metric Modulation, Time displacement, odd time. Peace.
MY BOY MIKE is getting better everytime i hear you.. KEEP it up and DONT STOP, i know you can do better too so give it your all... i except more lol .. To the other brothas from the berklee drum fam or team I salute you all.. Everyone of you young gents have a particular sound that drew me the technically , the style of how you all use your own unique forms of playing.. AND the love you all have in the faces and passion you all have i respect it keep it flowing and make more videos! Number 1 fan
Josh Walker You shouldn’t ever have to feel the need to ever justify yourself to anyone on the Internet after all the hours you’ve put into your craft. ALL people in this video are only on a level I can aspire too and I’ve take this seriously for years now. All the years of work in this video are humbling and fuck anybody not riding that wavelength. Real recognize real.
Thanks for the kind words. God helps does who help them self. Its easy to say a lot of nice things when your in the mix but, I cant give up its all I know. I am studying from the Spanky DVD, and I understand time displacement and odd time playing. I do left foot clave in the Latin jazz style to warm up. I , like a lot of you, need the game changing connect . If you know some one who listens to good unknown players let them know I live. Thank you and Blessing.
I hear the track switching behind 5 and 7 in the time. I.e., a bar of 5 then a bar of 7 back to a bar of 5 & ending w/ a bar of 7 & then repeating. Correct? -T. King, Jr.
1) there should not be dudes on here that can't add to what's being brought to the table. That's like putting a bloody piece of meat in a shark tank. Everyone dose not understand what a shed is and how to shed. 2) why aren't the drums mixed right, and why aren't the mixes consistent? 3) my personal favorite in this session are Johannes Westly Calos And a couple others!!! Note: please don't just pick random drummers who are not shredders or don't have the vocabulary to hang in a room with sharks.... Specially if it's being recorded and put on TH-cam
maison guidry I agree to an extent because I saw one dude I thought diddnt know how to shed really well and I think u are a great drummer but I think everyone should have a shot no matter there skill level. I think I could beat the one dude that I thought couldn't shed well in a shed. But these guys are amazing so just to be able to stand with them even for a minute or two means alot. This shed looks like they were just having fun and making a good shed session so I thought that dude was alright. But if he was shedding in a shed with Tony royster jr, nick Smith, Chris Coleman, yourself or some of the other greats he wouldn't fit at all
Not digging the extreme effects and gating on all the drums to make them sound really cheesy and electronic, but some of these guys are really tight and locked in with the music, which is a VERY respectable thing.
Wow, I wish I had $ 58,000 to go to berklee for a year. I can understand what you guys are doing,,,,, Metric modulation time displacement and like what Spanky does. But I am just getting by on my own. I don't have family. But I can play. I live in my Van to be able to use the little money I make teaching to feed and pay car insurance. It took me 4 yr. to by my Tama drums evolution cyms and play-back system in order for me to practice. Songs like ; Dave Weckl band. El Negro, Vinny.
I wish I could come up with $25,ooo to get started. But I understand what you guys were playing : playing 5/4 and then 7/4, now throw all that cool time displacement ,YOU KNOW like SPANKY. Making sure you catch the one. You know Metric modulation. You should play like that, considering the amount of money you pay. And I thank you for showing us. I tried your idea and put left foot clave in both time signatures. I thank you MR Dave Weckl for teach us
I strongly encourage to audition for Berklee and try to get a scholarship. They really support talent when they see it. It would be even better if you do this after going to a BIN (Berklee International Network) School where you can transfer 60 credits, and they cost 10 (sometimes even more) times cheaper. $58.000 is just prohibitive, but if you are clever you can pay way way less, or even go for free if you are really, really talented. Peace!
Its nice to play in 7 and then 5 over and over again. Then throw all the time displacement you can give and keep 7 and 5 and 7 and 5. Hey I got an idea, put a left foot clave in it and do all that. Fun right? Nice job I wish I could afford $ 58,ooo for Berklee.
Proud to say I went to school with every one of y'all. I'm proud of y'all homies! Keep striving to get better. Love y'all
Y'all are all so good, it's discouraging and encouraging at the same time

I think the era of world class drummers coming out of Berklee is coming to an end, these guys are good but not like the generation before them
keep in mind... we were just freshman when we made this.... We all got a lot better, not only as drummers but as musicians!!
Josh Walker you guys are extremely talented and gifted!! I listen to this video regularly because of the great job and hard work put in
have you heard the guys before they went to berklee lol this prediction was definitely wrong
Josh Walker You shouldn’t ever have to feel the need to ever justify yourself to anyone on the Internet after all the hours you’ve put into your craft. I hear the track switching behind 5 and 7 in the time. I.e., a bar of 5 then a bar of 7 back to a bar of 5 & ending w/ a bar of 7 & then repeating. Correct?
-T. King, Jr.
I'm counting a bar of 7 and then a bar of 5 in 8th notes. Either way, I guess it's 12/8. hence 6/4.

explain to us what a fucking "shed" is then, master
Lol check his channel one of the best players in the scene today. Don't necessarily agree but this dude knows his sheds like no other...
maison guidry I agree to an extent because I saw one dude I thought diddnt know how to shed really well and I think u are a great drummer but I think everyone should have a shot no matter there skill level. They all have the same snare batter heads!
the backing track is way too loud
you need better speakers
I can't hear the drums at all. All I hear is the crappy track. I'd rather have no track at all.
