Great picking. My paternal grandfather who I never met had an old Gibson archtop and played scratch just like this on the few recordings of him my family has. It's a timeless sound
I ain't got anyone to look pretty for, so why shave? Lol. While I'm thinking of it, what chords did you use in your version of Victory Rag? I haven't been able to figure that one out yet either.
Great stuff! Can I ask what kind of pick you are using for your index finger? I have trouble finding brands that work well for both upwards and downwards strumming
@@midwestoldtimemusic3101 nice. How are you able to do both up strokes and down strokes? I would expect the pick to get caught on the string, seeing as it only faces one direction
Everything I know I've learned by ear, so no tabs, unfortunately. I used them for about the first three months I was learning banjo, which was my first instrument, and never since. I became frustrated by being unable to find arrangements I liked, and that reading them was a bit confusing and difficult to throw the melody and rhythm together, so I gave up on them and haven't looked back.

I was working on this last night on my ukulele. Maybelle would be proud of your rendition of this, the first song the Carter Family recorded.

Would you happen to have the TAB for this?
