I overlapped several recordings to create this one video, in which I play lead and rhythm guitar, rhythm autoharp, and harmonica. Played in the key of G on my Loar LH-700-VS, OS73 model A harp, and a Fender Blues Deluxe G harmonica.

Awesome I love this!
Great job.
What chords are you using for this, and can it be translated to a 15 chord?
F, C7, Bb. On a standard chromatic 12 and 15 chord, you can play in the keys of C, F, and G, depending on configuration sometimes Bb.
@midwestoldtimemusic3101 Ok so if it's set up like a Bb, C7, F, G7, C, G it would work.
What chords are you using?
Key of C - C, G7, F
@midwestoldtimemusic3101 thank you! Im trying to figure out Melody's on my Guitaro as well!
What about this is a waltz?
@abfahrtabfahrt3884 It's not. Written and titled by Pop Stoneman, recorded by him in the late 1950s. There are several records and live tapings of Patsy Stoneman performing this tune and explicitly stating that it is not a waltz. I neither wrote, nor titled this piece. Do a little research.
Great playing. I was gonna comment on the instrument, but you guys beat me to it.
@@h.wagner At one time, I had planned on building my own A model harp and had bought this one to rob the hardware from. The old A models just have a certain sound to them that I'm partial to. Almost a growl. This one has just that sound.
Oh what a beautiful rarity!! I somehow managed to snag two!
@Popcorn_Kernel I actually got it for next to nothing and bought it for parts. Its warped pretty bad almost to the point of being unplayable, but the sound was too good to takenit apart. Made some adjustments and raised the bars a tad so make it playable.
@midwestoldtimemusic3101 The one I have is in pretty bad shape as well, but the other is like new!
Maybelle and Sara would be impressed. Lovely tune.
I should learn this one.
Beautiful!
I love this tune, not played it on my autoharp in ages
Just subscribed to you as well -- hope to see an autoharp vid in the future =)
This is fantastic! Thank you for posting! I love these old-style harps and their authentic sound. Perfect for these kinds of songs :)
Very nicely played. I enjoyed that.
Very good version ❤
You should play at the Carter family fold
Awsome
Sing.
Best job on Carter's scratch !
This is my favorite way to pick!
Awsome
captures the Carter sound beautifully
Can u gimme the tab bro thx
You are extremely talented! Have you tried your hand at "Where the Sunset Turns the Ocean Blue to Gold" - The A.P. Carter Family, Joe Carter (A.P.'s son) plays an amazing lead guitar.
This guy is extremely good
I've been lookin all over for this-- any shot you have a tab for it?
@@PageFord I do not. I learn almost everything by ear.
@@midwestoldtimemusic3101 With a little effort, I was able to do the same 😆
Patsy Cline would love it! You've got some real talent there, it's lovely to hear.
Beautiful
What strings/gauges do you use pal?
I've used a few different types over the years, but I think by the time of this video I was using Mapes Extra Heavies in phosphor bronze. I want to say I've got a set of John Pearse medium, pure nickel wound on it now, but I'll be going back to the Mapes next time. I'd read somewhere that Mother Maybelle had used Mapes strings, so I gave them a try and really liked them.
It is interesting that the Carters used this same tune for Home By the Sea.
They reused a lot of their tunes I've noticed over the years.
Yes. They reused a number of their own tunes plus a few older Tin Pan Alley melodies. For instance the melody to Longing for Old Virginia is almost exactly the same as Its a Long Way to Tipperary. Strange but true.
Very nice.
Love it.
nailed it!
I love that guitar. What is it???
Very nice.
Your really good .
Love it.
The Carter sound right there,
Is ur finger pick bent straight down. I get hung up on the the down finger stroke.
Man tat talent ,been trying to learn this 1 for a while ,beautifully done ,love it !!!
WOW.... One day I'm going to learn to play like this.
Thanks
Terrific. Very talented.
What is your guitaro tuned to? It sounds lower pitch than mine.

Open G, G, C, D7
Beautiful playing!
What chords are you using?
F, C7, Bb
Nice. What guitar do you have ?

How did you tune the instrument
Standard chromatic tuning.
Simply beautiful.
Can I ask you something about the song and the guitar
