I made this over the weekend for our small gathering and it was a HIT!! We all loved it, the aroma from the orange, the walnuts and the hint of cinnamon was divine!! Anna is always spot on, I’ve been making her recipes for many many years and they always turn out great! Thank you!
great recipe & technique! our family ancestry is Greek/Basque in addition to Scandinavian so many recipes with corresponding methods in between... fascinating & fun to bake! thx much I raised my son watching you, I watched Julia growing up. as a classically trained pastry chef was able to pass it on to my kid the way I'd learned too.. thanks for sharing so many of these things left unsaid if not here by you now the culinary try of late! absolutely divine indeed sistermine!
Hi Anna, you know what I would add to the mix, dried cranberries, yes yes, it seems to me that it would go well with everything else, it's a test - have a good weekend!
Greetings from England, 👋. What an amazing recipe, I’m going to try making this cake very soon! It has my favourite ingredients, so I can’t wait to try it out! 😋😋😋
I tried it out today, and it turned up delicious. The only modification I did was to double up the cinnamon The flavour that hits first is the orange. I did not use the food processor, instead chopped the walnuts using a knife. Thanks.
Hello😊 Can you make this cake with whole wheat or almond four in place of AP flour. Thank you for all your delicious recipes, your time, and your presence. From your #1 fan😊😊❤❤
I haven't tested it, but i think that whole wheat flour would work well, as would a gluten-free baking blend. Because of the quantity of walnuts already in the recipe, I think ground almonds might make the sponge to heavy.
I have to make it VEGAN for myself. Hope it will turn out alright. Your flavors sound amazing. I’d also like to try a version with a pinch of powdered cardamom. What do you think about it? Thank you for sharing your recipe. ❤
Thank you for revealing the real Turkish cuisine which is the richest in the world. 🌹💐🌹Man in the street will only talk about “kebab” only, which is an Arabic term for “grilled”
Made this cake last week, and wasn't too crazy about it. For me, the cinnamon did not complement the orange peel very well, it was much denser than I thought it was going to be. Probably won't make this again.
To quote the British Historian Josephine Quinns from the U.of Oxford, what we call Turkish, Roman, French or British are actually from Persia, the mighty civilizations of Mesopotamia ( Syria -Irak), ancient Egypt, the Phoenicians ( modern day Lebanon) or the Far East. Just a note to Anna, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, saffron, pistachio, almond, coffee , sugar rice, orange, lemon, artichoke, aubergine, spinach, focaccia, pasta are all brought to us Europeans by you know who? Not the Romans, Greek, French, Brits or Turks, but by the Arabs. So this called recipe dear Anna, is actually Middle Eastern from Syria. Most Turkish or Greek pastries are from what we call the Levant countries, not from Turkey!

It’s 4:55 am in New Zealand here I’m loving the recipe. Wash the orange and dry before zesting. Oranges are covered with wax most of the time.
How do you know she didn’t wash them, I wash my fruit as soon as I get them home!
I definitely wash all my fruit before using - a very good point :)
No Oranges are not covered with wax they naturally has oil in the peel wax is applied on apple to extend their shelf life
@@01doha Calm down, it was just a tip
I love the simplicity of this cake!

I didn't have an orange so I used lemon zest and it turned out just as good. Great recipe!
How delicious, just what I was craving Anna! 🫶

Just made it, the aroma from orange zest and cinnamon is amazing, but it’s very sweet even though I cut the amount of sugar by a little bit over half😊

@itzel1735 Thank you so much☺️💐 Will let you know how it comes out.🙏 Enjoy it when you make it.
Yes you can use Almond flour instead...
I always use it and most recipes turn out even better in my opinion

Very nice

I’m going to Turkey in couple of weeks ❤
Such a healthy cake! Do I need to toast the walnuts beforehand? Thank you!
Thank you,😊 what you can use instead of yogurt
Kaymak❤
Thanks
Mmmmmmm!
Wow looks delicious. By the way the cake doesn't have any fat in it? No oil or butter?
Hello Anna,
Beautiful cake, is there anyway you could link a printable recipe?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You can use Mascarpone for kaymak
Hi Anna can i use stevia instead and how much?
Can I use almond instead of walnut because grandson is allergic to walnut?
Can i use vanilla essence instead of the orange zest?
Can I use almonds instead of walnuts?
Can you please make this eggless?
Thank you for revealing the real Turkish cuisine which is the richest in the world. 🌹💐🌹Man in the street will only talk about “kebab” only, which is an Arabic term for “grilled”
Hi is this cake made without any oil/ butter? Thank you
No oil or butter is needed - the oil from the nuts partnered with the yogurt, gives the cake sufficient moisture.
Should work with oat flour?
Yes, it should (I love baking with oat flour)
Made this cake last week, and wasn't too crazy about it. For me, the cinnamon did not complement the orange peel very well, it was much denser than I thought it was going to be. Probably won't make this again.
Oh dear- just leave out the cinnamon
I use mascarpone instead of cream fresh as it’s far easy to find.
😊
No Cardamom needed?? 🤨😘
100g of flour and 200g of sugar?
That’s the beauty of this recipe: healthy walnuts can replace not so healthy refined flour
👌👌❤️🌻❤️🌻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Where is the recipe
I wonder if I could replace the sugar with sweetener 🤔. Im thinking you wouldn't get the same volume with beating the eggs using sweetener.
Sweetener is pure poison. Better to eat a little sugar now and again than that crap!
Agave syrup would be the best option to replace the sugar and achieve egg volume.
Great ideas, may I ask what is the ratios for substitute sugar to agave syrup? Thank you. @@ohyum
All ingredients are normally found in every country or in cook books ..it's not that you ate that wow in Turkish 🤢🤢🤢
Wat😮
Too much talking - a turn off. You should learn from others on TH-cam
