I never get tired of watching the video, it has helped me a lot. Thank you very much for the idea. I followed your steps and managed to make a 40-pound bamboo bow. It took me almost a year. Thank you very much. Greetings from Santander de Quilichao, Colombia
I think this technique could be used to make a good crossbow prod. The length cut in half should yield an increase in draw weight on the order of 80-90%. Whether the bamboo will withstand the additional stress remains to be seen. I like the way your mind works, Wooden Ren. Think I will subscribe.
Lots of love to the people of Taiwan from India.. This is very nicely made... I've participated in archery competitions in Bhutan and Sikkim.. they're good bows... Keep bringing out such good contents.. subbed. 🙏🏻❤️👍🏻💪🏻
Great video. I wish we had bamboo that thick here. When I saw the size of the bamboo at the start the first thing that came to mind was use that for an arrow quiver and use a smaller diameter for the bow.
7:41 it's not entirely clear if he's gluing these two pieces together or is he just setting them on top of each other whilst wrapping them without any glue or adhesive...
Hey i remember when i recommend it to you for making this bow lol. And, the finish product that you're made is great as always!! Really love your archery craftsmanship and also your woodworking!! Keep going brother 💪 And stay healthy.. don't wanna let the pandemic bothers your channel 🙃
Muy bonito el arco, es sencillo , elegante y fuerte. ¿Que pasaria si al arco de bambu, lo reforzamos con cuernos y tendones? Muchas gracias por el video, saludos desde Colombia.
I just finished watching your video? And did enjoy it. More intriguing was the type if bamboo you used! Having seen the chart, will help as well. Im also happy that your chicken liked the bow as well. One question though. The spool of string you used, to make the bow string? Besides it being multi color? Is it specific made for making bow strings? I also have a jig to make it but in a "flemish style" of string?! I still like your one of many videos of where you used rattan? To make a very intricate design? Only I haven't seen or been able to locate it at the same thickness that you used it? Which was at 0.8 mm? Can it be substitute with another form of string? Or does rattan have to be used?
Might you have made a stronger bow by making the limb parts longer to get about 2/3 overlap? It might not have been the traditional Bhutan bow from special bamboo, but many of us outside Asia have a limited variety of available bamboos to select from. Most is from lower altitudes and rarely of the size you used.
I enjoyed watching your video. I am having a go at making my first bamboo bow and wanted to ask.... is the outside surface of the bamboo (the dark side) always the string and grip side of the finished bow ? Many thanks
Ah excellent ! I just made one and was surprised it only had a 5lb draw 😅. But the tips were 2cm and the length was 180cm. I got one up to 14lbs by making the tips 3.5cm and having a 33cm overlap, but I didn't think to shorten the limbs to add weightz so that's a great tip for me to try next.
@@woodenren I just followed your tips and made one with a 30lb draw, very pleased! The dimensions I used were: 92.5cm limbs 25cm overlap 5cm handle with grip cutout Tapered to 3cm tips.
Bhutanese 🏹 is not that hard to make but the process is bit long. You have to select a thick bamboo that is hard and durable. Once you cut down the bamboo, you need to smoke it for a year or two. Thank you. Taiwan cannot choose bamboo materials as good as those from Bhutan. I believe that the characteristics of bamboo materials at high altitudes in Bhutan will be very good, and I hope to have the opportunity to obtain them.

Very good result . Although low in draw weight , this style of bow still shoots quite fast due to the bamboo being very elastic. Thanks for sharing.
thanks^^
I'm watching this for my 18th bday theme hehe wish me luck!

Bhutan's local bamboo is more suitable, but Taiwan's is not strong enough
I hope that beautiful traditions never disapear. thank U for share
