Have you tested it against a good known straight edge. Like a high quality straight edge ruller? It seems like a fantastic idea. For the price and build quality I'm sceptical. Excellent video and beautiful machine

Bought the laser as I'm putting a different engine in bike. It kinda works but it's very hit and miss . Think it's right. ??? Cheap tool
Both work well when used properly
So does not using them when you know how.
Just turn the wheel slightly then the laser runs along the chain nicely,

Markers on the swinging Rm are rarely correct
Probably would have worked out better if you used the tools right the first time, you left the black plastic cover on the tension tool bolt so that would have been well out and you had the laser clamped in the wrong place. Yea they are pointless gimmicks for most if you already have your own methods. But they do work and help make things easier for first timers. Steel ruler, eyes, spanners, decent socket and torque wrench is pretty much all you need. Im fortunate to have a screwdriver that has the perfect girth to roll around the back of my sprocket so can tighten and take up all the slack then roll out to get the spot on tension for my chain quickly without needing to double check. As for alignment that’s where the steel ruler comes into play I just hold it against my sprocket, sit behind and target front sprocket my guide notches on my swing arm are spot on with my current sprocket so im lucky there too but they’re about a mil out from one side on the missus bike at the minute though not an issue though as hers is a piece of piss to see the alignment to her front sprocket. Agreed though once you get the hang of doing your chain you don’t need these gimmicks. They’re ok as a touring backup though or if quickly want to set someone elses chain in the field and cant see the front sprocket clear enough. The laser thing works pretty well if you get it clamped right it wont wobble about.
The instructions tell you to keep the black cap on 🤔 They are a gimmick and not a very cheap gimmick at that. So I stick by my review and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone a set a verniers and the correct way to set would be my recommendation as the verniers would be useful for other applications unlike this overpriced rubbish.

Have to take the Chaingaurd off
Every Time to use it
The Chain Monkey works OK
When you get the hang of it
But the FirstvTime according to
Tru Tension Tutorial you need to
Sit on the Bike to take the weight
& get a Mate to set the Chain Monkey
I'm actually an electrician by trade and I fit AHU belts quite regularly. They have to be cock on straight with the pulleys else they set fire pretty quick..the tool I use is very similar to the Monkey one but secures to the pulley much more flush. I think the pro tool one for motorcycle is way better. This video was a few years ago and I was a bit pissed off that day so my patience wasn't the best.. But I wouldn't buy another for chain tasks.

Never seen such a ham fisted effort.
Best way to measure is from swingarm pivot to wheel axle, This tool had no way of being perpendicular to the sprocket no matter how delicate/ham fisted you make your effort....fact
Probably not the best idea using a torque wrench to undo your bolts. 👍
Why it has a option to do so if it wasn't recommended then it would be fixed in tighten only option. It can handle 230Nm of force so 80Nm isn't going to break anything. I know if the torque wrench was £200+ I wouldn't ut it was a £29 Draper not really an issue. Cheers for the comment 👍

"professional mechanic" cant get his chain alined correctly. blames the tool that showed it and throws it in the bin XD hahahha. sure its not the best laser tool out there but it works
My chain alignment was perfectly straight. The tool is rubbish for how much it costs. You want to be a fanboy of this equipment. I have no issue, but don't question my mechanical/electrical qualifications because I don't agree. 👍

@@BigBoyzToyz1974 I was looking at this in Halfords wondering why it was so expensive for a piece of wobbly plastic with a little laser on it. Absolutely ridiculous.
I'll probably go for the motion pro chain tension tool and chain alignment tool off amazon and pay the shipping fees.
