    Much thanks. I tried your method on my Miller Multimatic 255 and it worked like a champ. I just shot some WD-40 down it, blew it out, and put a bend in the liner blowing it out the whole way down like you did. Man. I’m back in business!!!!

      I'm so glad to hear that my method worked for you! It's always great to know that I could help someone get back to business with their Miller Multimatic 255. Keep up the good work!

    For someone that found his welder in a trashcan you shure have been allot of help. After two years I was starting to think she may need to go back to the trash bin. Now if ya could help me get the gas working again, fairly confident its a valve or solenoid inside the machine (Miller 210) it would be great! you have helped me with allot of the other problems I been having.... Ima go clean my liner now! see ya.

      ?.....no gas. Maybe the ' gas holes ( ? ) are plugged, in the nozzle end. Or, perhaps, the gas valve, in the gun handle, is faulty. It opens up, when the trigger is pulled ; switches on the electricity current, and the GAS ! . ( old guy garage nut )

    Thanks Mr Pete! I got round to trying this on my Cebora Mercury . Blew it out with air , then blasted some wd40 through it with more air . This has made a world of difference . I also discovered in the process that the whole torch and pipes/cable has a standard "euro" connection (i thought mine was too old) so I could get a whole new off the shelf torch setup inc all pipes & cables for £40 . Not necessary now though (yet) thanks to your clean out tips

    I'm not a big time welder, just a homer. But When my mig wire got a big testy, I just pulled the wire out and blew it out with compressed air. A bunch of crud blew out. Worked good.

    Love your videos! Awesome tips on all that I've seen so far. I just now am seeing this video. I wish I had seen it a while back I had an issues with my liner getting clogged. But, back then I didn't know if it would work or not, but I had the thought to do exactly what you did and this video. So, I did all the same steps you did and it's still working good to this day! Saved me time and money of having to replace the liner!

    5:15. I would use a mixture of vinegar, and kerosene. Soak it - for about 1/2 hour.......then, blow out with high pressure air. Good video, Mr Petes' Tools. (from ' up yonder ' to Australia )

    Perfect timing Pete. My wire had a few rust spots and this may come in handy. Maybe you can cover slight rust on the wire - what to do about it. Do the wire washers work etc.

      a binder/paper clamp one of those heavier ones made for holding like 150 sheets together, with a piece of scotch brite wrapped around where the wire feeds into the rollers, takes any surface rust and grease off the wire or helps some anyway, have heard of an ear plug too poking the wire through it before the wire goes to the feeders, both of these put together could certainly clean up some grungy wire.. but if it looks like was stored in your boats bilge area maybe chuck it away instead of packing the liner with that rust

    So if the wire is stopping half way up the liner and it won’t feed any further , does that mean I have a kink ?

  • @Phiyedough
    @Phiyedough 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you not spray brake cleaner or something onto the wire as it goes from the reel into the liner? Just run a few metres of wire whilst doing that and hopefully the dirt will be transferred to the wire.

    Love your style mate. Nice one.
    I've got two kemppi 180 adaptive migs, one popping and farting, one going to protection mode, think they're both linked to the liners (hopefully), just found a cheaper source for them so changing them.
    Will bung the old ones in the ultrasonic cleaner n see how they go if they're not kinked though!

    Hey mate, I gotta question. My liner (that holds the wire) look like a spiral wound cable (from the outside). Is this the actual liner or is there an interior liner inside of that? I've never looked at my parts manual. (that'd be way to fuc$ing easy) It's a regular Hobart mig machine. Your videos are killer I never miss one!! Thanks bud....

    • @petestools
      @petestools  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate ,Yea that's your liner . Unless you are running aluminum wire then your liner looks like a plastic tube. But both types get crap in them and it really affects your welding after a while. Thanks for watching my friend.

    I give it a blast through with the air before the oil, you'll often see a fair amount of dust come out. Then the oil can get through easier. 🙂

    gotta say i dont think this method would work well.. if you have access to a parts cleaner or any bucket/tank of some solvent can try putting the liner in there and just working your way down it bending the spring open slightly as you go to let the solvent in and grit out, then it good brush with the air gun, might save it.. chuck the air nozzle in the vice and tape it on so you have two free hands to work the liner open infront of the stream of air.. basically impossible to push anything right through the whole length of that you have to be able to open the spring up and work it out at that location
