    This is so true. My game has advanced a lot since I started throwing mostly understable.

    Great video. It's a good reminder to throw understable when the shot calls for it.

    7:08 “They reveal errors in your form” this so much… I just started playing last year around the end of the season, and the beginning of the season this year I began with throwing discs that were too fast for me so I was instinctively putting some anhyzer on every throw. Once my friends started to tell me that I had enough arm speed to start attempting the hyzer-flips is when they informed me of my anhyzer form. I’ve been able to start correcting my form but I’ve lost about 20-40 feet on my drives, due to slowing down in general but I’ve gone from scoring +8-10 to +3-6 on my home course. Can’t wait until next season to possibly start competing in tournaments.

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      heck yeah! now just imagine what those scores are gonna look like when you get that 20-40 feet back (and more) as you continue to work on your form 😤

      Thanks 👊 Obviously that depends on arm speed yada yada yada, but in general I'd recommend the Lone Star Curl- we describe them to people as "pre-beat wraiths". A step up in stability from that (but still just under a wraith imo) is their new Nimitz- video on that is dropping tomorrow 😉

    Forgive me if I am wrong, but a Lariat with 9,5,-1,1 flight numbers is a stable, or straight, disc. You add the turn and fade, and it is only understable if the product is negative. And even if you add to a -1, that would barely be understable. If the numbers are positive, it is overstable. A 0 is stable or straight.

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're not wrong, but that's assuming the flight numbers are a correct representation of the disc. This particular run of Lariats were verrrry understandable, as shown in the flight footage.
      It was the first Lariat I had thrown, others were much closer to flight numbers

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the slot (mid, fairway, driver). There will always be personal opinion on that because people throw differently (speed, angle, nose angle, etc), but I definitely have some favorites

    Sorry I’m new to disc golf but is a spike hyzer a hyzer throw that is thrown high?

      @neverlayup ปีที่แล้ว

      yes

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically thrown high, but really it's about angle out of the hand (very steep hyzer)- notice how those shots came out at something like a 75°angle. Good question 👍

    • @ninerknight5351
      @ninerknight5351 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ninerknight5351 I did that for the first couple months too. Someone told me to put more pressure on the disc with my thumb and that seemed to help.

    When you showed the numbers on the under stable disc, the last two numbers are -1, 1. Isn't that a neutral disc? Wouldn't an under stable disc have a higher number for fade than the turn number?

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically, yes. The first run of Lariats were wayyy more understable than their numbers indicated and I used to recommend them for beginners. Lone Star has since corrected the mold and they fly true to flight numbers now, so don't pick one up expecting it to fly like this one did haha
      (I would say this one flew like 9, 5, -3, 1, for reference)

  • @closer2theheart684
    @closer2theheart684 ปีที่แล้ว

    No more than I play and having a lack of decent courses, I throw nothing but understable discs. I'm also 55 years old and I just prefer not having to crank on a disc to get it to fly far. I get better flights with my understable discs. The only disc I prefer to have a little more stability, is my mid-range.

    • @ArmoryDiscGolf
      @ArmoryDiscGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not having to crank on a disc is so underrated, too- it's so nice to get a smooth throw and watch an understable disc just glide through the air. That's one of the things that kept me coming back to disc gold when I first started and is still very pleasing haha

  • @andreasericsson6989
    @andreasericsson6989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Actually, understable discs go farther than overstable discs because their glide is predominantly produced by Bernoulli's principle and the Coandă effect (air is being accelerated down around the rim of the disc from the top, creating a downward force which by Newton's third law causes an equal and opposite upward force, as well as lower pressure on top of the flight plate, which causes the disc to want to rise - more so at the back end of the disc, which causes the left side of the wingplate to rise and the disc to turn right for RHBH throws).
    Overstable discs predominantly produce glide by deflecting air downwards from the front of the rim, which by Newton's third law causes the disc to be pushed upwards (and the nose and right side of the disc to rise for RH/BH throws).
    To be fair though, every disc does a little bit of both. Except the Tilt. The Tilt has practically no glide contributed by the Coandă effect, which is why it's impossible to throw it further than about 150ft. That's because it will start fading/crashing if the disc is thrown hard enough to still travel forward by the time spin decreases to the point where the nose-deflection force overcomes the gyroscopic stability. But if you *could* throw the tilt with something like 100000RPM spin, it still wouldn't go as far as an understable disc thrown with the same armspeed, simply because the glide produced by air deflection is directly proportional to the amount of drag the air deflection produces, whereas the Coandă effect adds just a fraction of that same drag to produce the same amount of lift.

  • @bardenheier
    @bardenheier ปีที่แล้ว

    But the Lariat is a stable disc, not understable.
