It's a sales pitch. While I am sure he does in fact love the suburbs, arena, and system, he is utlimately marketing Detroit as a destination to FAs and potential trade acquisitions.
Detroit is cool too. Sure it’s not Chicago or NYC. But it’s gritty and cool.

Detroit has a rich history, devoted fanbase, and plenty of young talent coming up. For a guy who has won Stanley Cups and made plenty of money over his career, I can see why he might go with the stability of not having to move again. I can also see how helping an up and coming team shape their youth can add to his legacy.
That said Ken Daniels is also amazing.

How are the broadcasters on Tigers? i recall the mario & rod era but they hated each other lol. i havent cared to see a regular season game since we lost the 2012 Finals. (too many reg season games is a turnoff)
