This is one of those games you can’t forget.. so many storylines. Both former Chicago players scoring (debrincat and Kane.) Petr Mrazek a former Red wings goalie facing his former team, Chelios jersey being hung up in the rafters, list goes on

It was the worst game in Hawks history. Chelios' jersey should never have been retired, and a stadium full of Hawks fans cheering for a Redwings player has made me so disappointed in my city and my home team that I don't think I can ever root for the Blackhawks again. Kane should be given no love. He lost his home here in Chicago. He should be hated for the rest of his life. Nothing he did with this team matters anymore, his three Cups are worthless now. And for thousands of Hawks fans to be cheering him? That's treason.

I'm a lifelong Wings fan, I have hated Patrick Kane for so long because he's so damn good. But now that he's wearing the Winged Wheel and having this awesome comeback post hip resurfacing, I obviously love the guy now. This game was truly surreal to watch. From the triple lap to then 30 seconds later the Chicago crowd chanting "Detroit Sucks" (ahhh, rivalries) to the Cat goal that had absolutely no business going in, to watching Showtime himself with that OT breakaway storybook ending....I was almost in tears. Such a special sports moment.
Similar to when we got Chelios at back when. Was hard at first until you saw he could play yet.

This one's gunna go up there with McCarty vs. Lemieux in terms of all time Red Wings lore for me for not only the OT winner but, all the storylines surrounding the game. The crazy thing is, the Wings were having an off night but you felt like SOMETHING was gunna happen eventually and when Debrincat scored it was like "...ok here we go". I never thought I'd see the day where Wings and Blackhawks fans were both cheering for a Patrick Kane goal in a Red Wings jersey at the United Center.

As a Chicago fan we are numb to losing at this point. As a forever Patrick Kane fan no matter where he goes (although painful to see him in a RW jersey) couldn’t have written a better ending for him ❤

Ideally, Kane should've been able to retire a Hawk like Stevie Y did with the Wings...but as a Wings fan, I'm glad to have him here :)
He can't ever come back here now. He shouldn't be allowed to retire a Hawk. Kane shouldn't even be able to walk on a street in Chicago without fearing for his life. The Wings vs. Blackhawks contest with Kane and Chelios being honored brought lots of humanity to the game, to say nothing of a great game itself. Kane is very fortunate to be healthy again, and Chicago fans were classy giving him an emphatic 2 thumbs up!!!
It was such a beautiful moment as a Wings fan. Sports romance is real. I get chills thinking about that goal. It’s showtime in Detroit again.
As a Hawks fan, I am glad that he scored. Some may not like that but I don't care. I love Kaner and he still has some left in the tank. As for the future, we will see. Right now, we suck.

Either that, or being one of the last cuts for Yank's World Jr Team...This despite being near the top of OHL scoring several years running... JUST SAYING...
1.5 years with the US development team for Kane prior to one season in the OHL, who is the only one I was referring too, nor commenting about the entire Canadian Jr vs us development models. Different kids go different ways. Kane led the way on the maturation of US development
He didn't deserve a send off in Chicago, we hate him, this isn't his home anymore. Kane can't come back here to Chicago. He shouldn't be able to even walk around in this city without being afraid that he'll get beaten to death.

I gotta say, I was pretty salty about the Hawks getting Bedard instantly after legends like Kane and Toews move on. But after this game I can't help but really respect that fanbase. Very classy both for Chelios and Kane and you can really see the passion and love the fans have after that night.
What a game. Storybook stuff. Props to CHI for supporting Kaner even in defeat. The chants of "DETROIT SUCKS" rang throug the arena the whooole game. Some rivalries never die. LGRW 😈🐙

I was there, this was by far and away the best game I've ever been to and you nailed it on the head. No one was leaving upset last night, a couple of people were like 'damn, coulda won it', but no one was dissing Kane at all.
This is probably the only time Hawks and Wings fans will agree on ANYTHING.

Certain games I’m glad I’ve taken the time to sit down and watch throughout my life. This game was certainly one. What a night for both teams, and how often does your team lose in overtime, and the home crowd is still happy about the outcome somehow.
Probably the best non-playoff game this year as far as the overall experience goes. Could not ask for more. Even the fucking octopus

Was at the game the place was rocking the whole night. You are correct hawk fans were not upset at the outcome because of Kaner. If anyone was going to score for them glad it was Kaner. He was last off the ice and he showed his love and appreciation for the fans tapping his heart and clapping. With Cheli getting his well deserved recognition it truly was a night to be remembered.
I was there too, I was saying on the way out that I can't even be mad that it was Kane that scored in OT. Would I have liked it if the Hawks won? Sure. But, I wouldn't have left the building feeling any different, that's how special it was.

Went to the game, the United Center Irrupted. There could have not been a better ending to the game. The montage ok Kane was FIRE!, he was so emotional during it.

I don't follow the Hawks or hockey much and last night was actually my first live hockey game. That was honestly one of the coolest sporting events I've ever been to. The reception Kaner got was truly special.

It wasn't special, it was the worst thing to ever happen to this city. No Hawks fan should ever cheer for Kane. Thousands of people committed treason in that stadium. They betrayed one of the more important pieces of their identity.

It's been said that the two teams present were the only two teams in the league that were happy with the result. Otherwise, the teams in contention for playoff spots were set back by Detroit's win, and those who aren't were set back in their draft lottery hopes by Chicago's loss.

I was in the building. The drama that played out on TV was even more extreme in the building. During the curtain call(s) people were legit crying, and I’m not talking 1-2 individuals. It was one of the most bittersweet, emotionally complicated moments I’ve ever experienced. Nothing but love. Also enjoyed Bedsy getting physical with Kane a couple times. Front office may be comfortable with the tank, but when I tell you that kid wants nothing but to win every single night. Hella competitor.
Gretzky must be very good friends with Chelios because a little guy who still wears 68 got his jersey retired last week in PIT and he was a no-show. And that little guy is the name right after him in the NHL's all-time points list.
Hmmm... Does Gretzky need to be everywhere all the time? Super-Mario check... What about Orr? Don't tell me Howe was also a no-show? Well maybe we should give "Mr Hockey' a pass. Then again, maybe Gordie went to both games ;)
The whole experience was so awesome to watch. Even the announcers on the Detroit broadcast got choked up a bit at the Kane tribute. And it was dope seeing Chelios' jersey retirement too. He was one of my favorite wings as a kid. I was still buzzing the next day lol

This was a great highlight video. I’m a Hawks fan by heart and soul and a big fan of Kane. Detroit has had some great players as well and added another one to their list. Chelios jersey, Bedard assisting and the Debrincat Kane combo was all pretty cool. I’m glad Kane is still killing it. But go Blackhawks!!!

As a Wings fan, I feel super fortunate to be able to watch what Kane does on the ice to a much greater extent than I've been able to before. He's so incredibly talented, smart, and driven!
