- I am a traveling Radiology Tech that came out to California in June of 2021. After living in a couple houses that never felt like "home," I am thrilled to now have a place to call home! Full time RV living as a solo healthcare traveler will not be easy by any means, but I am up for the challenge!
Although I have prepared thoroughly for this endeavor, many curve balls have already been thrown my way. One of which happened on my first day out! I promise to keep it real with you guys by showing all of the GOOD and the BAD of this lifestyle.

Sarah, you continue to grow your experience by making mistakes, troubleshooting, and researching. No one on your comments can tell you how to gain your own experience in life. Continue to staying strong willed and courageous. Continue to look for answers and mess up here and there. This is the only way to grow. Airstream looks amazing. The prices tho. $43,100 for a Basecamp model to more than $179,000 for a Classic model. The new Pottery Barn 2022 model starts at $157,700. 😳😵💫

Congratulations! Did you make sure the external vent from the hood was open before turning it on? You always want it open for cooking but need to remember to latch it shut for when you are towing.Enjoy!
It was totally latched shut, which I discovered the next day! Learning experience!!

Good looking Airstream. I've been living in a travel trailer for 5 years now. A piece of advice to make life easier, purchase a battery powered drill such as a Milwaukee. Take the tool they gave you to raise and lower the stabilizer legs and cut about 8"+ of the end off. Insert that into you drill. Saves a lot of time when setting up or moving your trailer. Safe travels.
Or buy the same size socket in the RV dept at Walmart or Amazon!
@@jbjlock26 Yep -- don't cut the end off the tool (you'll need it when your cordless drill battery dies). Just spend the $8 to get the stabilizer jack socket for the drill. The drill definitely does save a some time and cranking effort though.

I was thinking the same thing, I do believe that she is exceeding the towing capacity of the Rav4 by a little bit.
She may end up regretting overtaxing it down the road.

My husband and I don’t own airstream but recently went from a bumper pull camping trailer to a 5th wheel. That has been a HUGE learning curve. Things do get easier as you go along and find out what works best you. Have fun on your journey 😀

Sarah you are adorable. I am so thrilled to see more woman out and about in their "mobile" homes. I did myself a solid for my 60th b'day, and purchased a 24 ft class c motorhome, that was 5 years ago. I LOVE it. If ever you come to Sedona, AZ, Rancho Sedona RV Park is where you will want to stay. I started on a long trip last year, from California to Texas but never left Sedona. Happy safe travels to you, it will always be a wondrous experenice.

Awesome!!! I build those in The factory in Jackson center, OH. I put on the taillights, shower box, put in the furnace, the bumper lid, marker lights, and door latch, I also put the a sealer on called ten x and the shiny trim pieces you see around the bottom and middle of the trailer, which we call belt-line and rub-rail insert.

Congrats! I highly recommend that that you test every outlet, USB port, open all compartments (under bed and seats, outside storage and rear bumper). I took possession of my 2021 Caravel in August and it's been to the dealership more that at campsites. It has had over $5k of repair work do to very poor workmanship from the factory. Hot water unit does not work, shower and closet walls delaminating, USB ports that don't work, storage cabinet door runs hanging loose, power box under dining seat not secure, stove top not secure, rear bumper components rusted, power jack not fused correctly, and more. I'm very disappointed in the lack of workmanship and integrity from Airstream factory. I hope you have better results.
We were looking at Airstreams and decided not to purchase because of the quality concerns. Luxury prices for some questionable build quality and lower end fixtures and features. We were sad. Glad we made the right choice though. Thanks for this info.

Curious to know the weight of the airstream, and How much does your Jeep tow??!! Very surprising seeing that size airstream being able to be towed by ur car.
My airstream is 4000 dry, 5000 fully loaded, and my Jeep can tow 6200
@@NomadicSarah Sarah, it's not just what your Jeep can tow, but your Jeep's payload. Totally different number, which also takes into account your hitch weight. Be careful.
@@ohreally287 there's no need to be mellow-dramatic, it is a small trailer well under what her vehicle is rated for and she'll be fine unless she loads her jeep with over a thousand more pounds.
@@judgeholden849 More like realistic; not "mellow-dramatic." This is a young woman, inexperienced with towing this coach. Many potential campers, and salesmen, look at basic weight ratings. Just bringing that fact to her attention to keep her safe.
For instance, if her Jeep's payload is 1,200 lbs, but can tow 6,200, 15 percent of 5,000 camper GVWR, hitch weight alone could account for 750 lbs. That leaves 450 lbs for Jeep passengers, cargo, hitch gear weight, etc. Not a lot of wiggle room.
@@ohreally287 you're correct she does not have 1000lbs to spare, it is much closer to 4 or 5 hundred. She does not appear to be towing with other passengers, but needs to take any additional weight they add to payload into consideration when towing.
My biggest concern would be her not knowing or performing proper pre-trip inspections, particularly since the trailer is only single axel and close to maximum capacity; when she has an issue with any of those tires on the highway it's going to be more difficult to control.

You did an awesome job, transporting and hooking up that camper. The airstreams all the best on the market in my opinion. I hope you have a wonderful time camping like my family and I do. Just to get outside and away from these computers and cell phones all the best way to relax.

Congrats on your trailer. I was looking at your floor plan & it was a lot like my 1st trailer. You're going to have so much fun with that thing. You'd be surprised how warm they are too. I did 2 blizzards with mine. Keep extra fuses/ breakers on hand. Go have fun. Drive safe.🤠🤠
My parents had an Airstream when I was a teen. We would go out 52 weekends of the year, even with my six month old baby sister. We were always snug as bugs in a rug.

Congrats on your new Airstream!! As someone who is semi-seriously thinking about full timing in (probably) an Airstream, I hope you will show the whole process, including the down and dirty stuff like flushing your black water tank, hooking up at camp sites, etc., trading out (or filling) propane tanks, etc. I’m sure there are videos all over like that but it’ll be fun to see a newb learn as she goes, because that’s exactly what I would be.

Really nice! You're off to a great start, and don't pay too much attention to the naysayers. Take it slow, learn as you go, and don't push your limits. Tow vehicle should be fine as long as you don't overload the trailer and keep your speed reasonable. As far as the comment that said you'll never get your money back: we've had our FC 23FB since 2014, looped the US five times now (565 days on the road), and if we sold it tomorrow for $5 it would still be a great deal given the experiences we've had. I am a new subscriber from Nova Scotia .Airstreams are beautiful machines ....they look so durable compared to other brands. The size is perfect ...not to big to handle and not to small to have elbow room .I didn't know there were travelling radiology techs.

The one thing that I like about airstream is that you can get them without slide outs.

Nice unit! We'd love an Airstream, other than the "crawlover" bed. When 2 sleep there, one must crawl over the other for bathroom trips.
First time viewing your video. I taught for the military at the Academy of Health Sciences and I retired from my second career doing MRI, worked in 5 different modalities as well. I hope your career is as rewarding as mine was. Because you are Rad Tech I took interest in your purchases of the jeep and trailer to insure that you could pull everything without creating a strain on the transmission. Sorry for acting as a concerned parent but I see you did your homework, good luck in your journey through life. If you were my grand daughter I would be very proud of you, heck I'm proud of you anyway. You possess great courage and intelligence at such a young age.

Congratulations....be very careful of shear wind when being passed by a big rig or experincing side winds. Even though your rig might say it has the tow capacity shear wind will throw your trailer into a wobble.....the tow rig should weigh at least 10% more then the trailer...be safe!
Most people go with an motor home. A small trailer is a smarter move, but I would go used.
There are plenty of people that bought these expensive trailers new and decided they didn’t need them.
The miles don’t matter on these at all as long as the tires and bearings are good.

Hi, best of luck on your new wonderful experiences. I’d like to ask the towing capacity if your suv? The 22 airstream fully loaded has got to be close to 5,000lbs if not more. Is your vehicle rated to tow that much? I’ve heard to be never more than 80% of your towing Capacity. Thanks and enjoy your travels.
I was wondering the same thing.. I have a 2015 JGC with a 3.0 turbo diesel, though it has the torque/power, I believe the max towing capacity is 7200 lbs
Hey there! I chose the 4X4 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk as my tow vehicle because it comes equipped with a pretty good tow package (heavy duty engine cooling, class IV receiver hitch, etc) and a Quadra-Lift air suspension system that helps with towing as well. Mine has a max towing capacity of 6,200 lbs. The gross weight of the airstream is 5000 lbs, which is right at 80% of my towing capacity if the trailer is fully loaded. Thanks for your support!!

Fire alarms need a voice command for us to use when we are cooking in a controlled environment. We should be able to yell, "im just cooking" and it shut off.

That is lame that the chain mounts on the trailer broke. Should be strong enough to hold the entire airstream if the trailer becomes unhitched from the ball joint.
Trailer / caravan verses camper van depends on your needs and application.

Thanks Randy! I will absolutely be sharing the table top once it's finished! Right now I've been having to focus on stocking it with all the necessities for daily functionality. Hopefully soon I can start getting into the fun interior decor aspect! It's all a process and I'm trying to be patient with myself. 😊
