    🐎This song came out when I was 10yrs old or so. My sister is 6yrs older than me an was into Rock and Roll. The house was full of Conway , Elvis and the ones my dad called " The Hanks ". When we'de get in the truck he'd say " Turn on the radio and we can listen to some Hanks".
    At that time the big acts included, Hank Thompson, Hank Williams, Hank Locklin, Hank Snow and Hank Cochron. All of them were around in the same era and all had hit songs on tv shows and radio, Chances were when you turned on the radio in the late 50s you would hear at least 2 if not more of them before the radio got turned off.
    With Love and Respect:

    Hi Cash and Bev. This was definitely before my time - computer says this was #1 in the UK in 1958, and the songwriting was credited to "Conway Twitty / Jack Nance". I take it this was a pop version, because it didn't sound very C&W to me. I don't mind a bit of country - I have both the original (C&W) and the "International" (pop) versions of Shania Twain's album, Come On Over - the second version was the album that made her a huge international star outside North America. I liked this song, it is familiar to me, probably from the radio my mother listened to back in the '60s and '70s. Conway's other top ten hit in the UK was Mona Lisa in 1959, which reached #5. Full glass of wine, thank you, and I hope you have a great weekend.

    I grew up with this song and for some reason it always fascinated me, still does. There is something about his voice that hits you. For me, it is not just a song, but an important part of my live. Didn't have a clou what the song was about in those days, but with my unlimited fantasy that wasn't really a problem. And ladies, you still rock. Greeting from the Netherlands.

    Check out Billy Fury's Version. My Idol, was born in Liverpool, England in 1940. As well as singing this, he wrote songs and his first LP, The Sound of Fury is considered the best Rock n Roll release ever and he was discovered before the Beatles. He was so handsome, so shy and animal lover, especially the birds. He died in 1983 and was only 42, just like his idol, Elvis Presley. They also met each other. xx

    Gotta say, I love you two ladies! I grew up listening to country, HATED it then, so I went HARD METAL! I've since learned to admire it. My parent's both sang country all over the NJ area, highly doubtful their names would have made it to TX. I'm still MOSTLY metal, and happy to see you both tackle a heavy one now and then. Since I've JUST discovered you both, I'm not sure if you've reviewed this band or not.... but I would LOVE to see you review Slipknot (this may get a bit complicated) Psychosocial, Slipknot "Snuff", Stone Sour "Bother", Corey Taylor live, ANY song.
    Corey Taylor is the singer for all of it.
    ANYWAY, I LOVE to see some genuine respect for the original "DOO" that is Conway Twitty. And as one rocker (can't recall HIS name) said, if you want to know how to play THAT riff, ask Roy Clark! He's the best guitar, banjo, anything player you've ever heard!!
    Ladies, keep the glasses full, and sipping often. :D

    Conway Twitty! Lots of good stuff in his catalog. "Hello, Darlin", and with Loretta Lynn: "As Soon As I Hung Up The Phone" and a funny one "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly", and his later ones: "Julia" and "That's My Job", which discusses a father-son relationship, highly recommended. As for this song, 5 brews 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

    The story I heard was he saw the names on a road map, Conway Arkansas and Twitty Texas. I'm a Texan, so I like that version of the story better. haha
    Conway must have been the most loved country singer ever. Such a great man and singer.

    Conway wrote this song. He started in Rock-'n'-roll in 55. The only cover I've ever heard of this song was by Ronny McDowel

    I think this was actually not pop but considered Rock n roll as that was the genre he was in for 10 years before he switched over to country. It's amazing to me well into his mid 50s Conway completely nailed this song live and sounded every bit as good as it did when it was originally released.
    Also, I think the story was he looked at a map and saw Conway, Texas and Twitty, Arkansas and that's how he came up with his name.

    • @vampfashions
      @vampfashions 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would be more likely considered "pop" when it was released as that was almost at the beginnings of any rock & roll.
