- Testing the 20/46 combo recommended for speed running only. Hardened steel 20 tooth pinion and 46 tooth spur. Motor runs a bit hot but nothing crazy. Very quick with no noticeable cogging or hesitation. Stock ESC and motor. #xmaxx8s #rccar #traxxas #xmax

Hahaha!! Thanks dude! Copied your idea - Got some aluminium end pieces for the motor coming - thought that may bleed some heat away. It does get quite toasty in there 🔥

Truck looks loads better but I fear you will still have issues using the stock monkey metal gearing!
It’s not got monkey metal anymore. That all broke long ago. I use Traxxas hardened steel or Simon Bryla hardened steel. 😅
I guess at some point I will have to get one. What you spent to date on the beast?
Not much. Few hundred quid on tyres and a new shell. Few pounds on pinions and spurs. About £150 on Traxxas HD upper arms, captured Skookum RC hinge pins, RPM/Proline hubs all around, RPM front and rear bumper mounts and various mods for the Cush gear covers and assembly. Not much really over 2 years.
