The red myth comes from bullfighting, where the movement, not the colour gets the bull's attention. So, don't worry about the jacket, just don't move.🤣 Who leaves single malt? Ruth, I love the fact that you're still moved emotionally by the scenery after all the travelling you've done!
That's right. The reason is: cows, horses and other big animals see in Black & White. They do notice when you move though. As far as ghosts are concerned, sorry, I don't know if they exist and whether they stay at bothies.
Fearless Ruth crushes another bothy! We think you're a legend Ruth, thanks for your videos. My wife n I are moving to Scotland from Ontario Canada in April,( i was born in Falkirk Scotland )hopefully we can buy you (and Ernie of course) a dram or 3 after we are settled in the Linlithgow area.
Love the cows. You did well. I married 40 years and don’t think I could do something so remotely by my self. I could not carry such a heavy backpack at my age-too many spine surgeries done. I’m living through your video adventures. Thanks for taking me to a Brothy
Hello from Maritime Canada on the Bay of Fundy. Love your content. It is so nice to follow your adventures and I look forward to watching even more of your adventures. Be Well Stay Safe. 🇨🇦 ❤
WOW! Amazing video! I'm astonished that you had that beautiful place to yourself with no one else around! You're a brave, adventurous Scottish Sis! What FUN! Many blessings
Highland Cows are absolutely adorable. A farmer near my timber property in North Louisiana of all places have a large herd of Highland Cows. I just love watching the little furry calves romping around !
Hi Ruth! Can't wait to watch your upcoming spring and summer videos. Scotland always look's amazing in the summer when the forests are out, and it must be nice for it not be dark and freezing as well lol. Never the less winter in Scotland really does have some amazing qualities and look's so beautiful.
Just so ya know, all cattle are colorblind. The whole bull matador and red thing is somewhat of a myth. The movement of the cape is what actually agitated the bull. Red is safe!! :)
Any food is the best you have ever had after a few, I know the feeling lol. Fair play to you doing another bothy, not sure I could do it, every little noise would have me jumping out of my skin. Amazing that you slept 11 hours. Enjoyed this as I do all of your videos, the quiet and solitude must make all of your senses come alive. I did Edinburgh for the first time a few weeks ago and I am in love with it! Next visit will be to do these more remote islands, thank you for introducing me to Scotland!
Hello , My wife and I visited Scotland several years ago and really loved it. We really enjoy watching your videos. Southern Maine is where we live now in our retirement apartment.
Don't worry, Ruth. The ghosts won't do anything unless you have a guilty conscience. If you are afraid of the ghost, it is a message to you. The answer to that message is in your heart.
You charm me with your travels, astute observations, unique experiences and wonderful personality. These bothy trips are fabulously intriguing! Keep on roaming Ruth! I so look forward to your videos.
Thank you Ruth for your amazing videos, I watch them from the comfort of Scottsdale, Arizona in the Northern reaches of the Sonoran Desert. Tomorrow it will be 83 degrees in Scottsdale, out Winter is over, and it is dry as Sahara Desert here right now. You're such a great sport, and it is wonderful to see Scotland from your point of view. Take Care Ruth!
What a beautiful setting! I have done my share of camping over the years, but never alone. I think a bothy would be a wonderful adventure with some friends or family for company.
Good evening my friend - just wanted to jump on and say a quick hello - I haven’t watched your Vlog/video. I will try and do that later this evening as my health is deteriorating and I don’t mind admitting to you that I’m struggling and I also tend to fall asleep about this time and wake up for night time medication ~ I hope you have a good week and keeping warm and dry and safe ~ sending loads of love and hugs ~ Xxx Xxx
Thank you so much. I loved staying in a bothy (by proxie). The best bit was the dram of my favourite tipple, Lagavoulin, although I have only sampled the 10 year old. Slainte!
Have whisky will travel! We know you love a good bothy, and a good whisky. OMG, Octomore....wow, it doesn't get any peatier than that. Great video Ruth.
Thanks for this video Ruth. I visited this bothy a few years back. We didn’t stay in it but we climbed the mountain behind it. It is such a beautiful glen and it was lovely to revisit it through you. I know exactly what you mean when you say that you get emotional being in such stunning surroundings. I feel the same.😀
So happy to see you had a video up I love when you go to a Bothy, always exciting The Highland cows a beautiful I could not harvest or eat them. Maybe the bucket could be used if not for garbage holder and toilet for urin?? . Its nice when some visitors leave books , Matches , and so on. I love being in nature where I live and yes id stay in a bothy. Thank you again Ruth for taking us along to another Bothy adventure in yet another beautiful area looked liked fun.
Hi Ruth, I took my boat to the lake today and went fishing. No fish to bring home but a really nice day on the lake. I live up in the mountains of western North Carolina in the United States. My small cabin is about 4,000 feet above sea level. It is cold up here but beautiful. I watch my woodstove like you said about the fireplace in the bothy. I liked the way you put that. I dont watch T.V. and I enjoy the wilderness instead. Thank you for sharing another nice adventure. I like the way you are. Smiling, George.
Hey Ruth, I live in Dorset but love Scotland. What you said about it bringing tears to your eyes is exactly how it gets me. Love your videos btw. All the best. Nick
That was lovely video. Peaceful and scenic. Love the stunning and beautiful location that we get to see. Looking forward next video adventure and have a wonderful day friend 🫶 💗 💗 🩷🩷 🏴
Great video Ruth, the scenery looks fab as do the highland coos,😄 we are so blessed with lots of beautiful places to visit.🏴 Stay safe and take care 👍
Thank you Ruth for another fabulous video. I have never stayed in a bothy but my Grandpa lived in a croft on Lismore with no running water or electricity. I had so many fantastic holidays there until age 19. Your video brought back so many memories. You are a brave lassie.
When you mentioned ghosts, I couldn't help but think, ""Stay on the road and keep off the moors", An American Werewolf in London, 1981. I always look forward to seeing your videos.
Thanks! I don’t know if I’m using the definitions properly. But you are a Brave and Brah woman 😂 for going on these solo Adventures for our entertainment… Cheers.
Great video as ever. One thought came to mind with the pasta water- it could be turned into soup with a satchet of miso paste. keep up the adventuring 🥾
Nice to see you back Ruth we've missed you and you're vlogs. We look over to the very bottom of Scotland Dumfries and Galloway. Can even see it from our back bedroom window as we live on a hill in the town. We can see from Gretna to the Isle of Whithorn most days. Malcolm and Sheila from Workington in Cumbria❤🎉
Yes, it is just like camping! And you have shelter if it does rain. I might want to roast a Hot Dog / Bratwurst on the Fire! Hihi. What a lovely hike too ! Thank you Ruth, for your humble and genuinely cheerful personality.
What an interesting video. It was super fun. I am always amazed that such small young woman can enjoy Whiskey that much. You have a kind and congenial personality. Thanks for the beautiful scenery. The cows looked so friendly and cuddly. The horns look sharp though.😊
Lovely video. You are so adventurous staying in the bothy alone. I am glad that you are able to. I would love to do it. Good to see you taking wood for the fire. I am quite amazed at the amount of whisky that you carried in your rucksack!!!! So glad that you did not consume it all. What a beautiful location for the bothy. I really enjoy your videos, they are so entertaining. Thank you. David
Hello Ruth. Wonderful video in a beautiful countryside area. Love your determination to go out and do these amazing hikes. One day I hope to get to the UK and perhaps recreate a trip like this. Brilliant video. Love the cows.
Ruth on your trek to the bothy you're walking through some water, either your shoes are waterproof or your feet are well insulated 😅 In isolated places with the exception of the friendly cows, you seem ok. The old highlander tales, at night🤔, no Willie's. I like how stuff is left behind, a pay it forward approach for visitors.
I'm on a diet that is heavy on meat protein but even I couldn't EVER eat a piece of beef if someone told me it came from a Highland cow. I am so so happy that you did another bothy walk/stay. I remember making a comment on one of your older vids that I'd love for you to do every bothy walk that was in that book you showed from the first one. Might be impossible but maybe some day you will run out of ideas of places to show us and do it :)
Thank you, Ruth, for yet another lovely and fascinating video. I’ve stayed in quite a few remote bothies in my time, often by myself, and it’s a magical experience. I’ve had my eye on this bothy on Mull - I’d love to visit it, and climb that beautiful hill just behind it, but I think my bothying and hillwalking days are over. BTW that empty bottle - Ben Bracken - generic Lidl name for their range of malts, usually very good, and not expensive.
We have “huts” here in Colorado, USA. Same feeling; like minded hikers and skiers enjoying the wilderness and eachothers’ company. Fun to hike hut-to-hut. Come try it!
My first introduction to you was your other bothy video. I'm so glad you have another one! Your videos and sharing the beauty of Scotland with us makes me yearn to experience it myself ❤❤
Gosh I wish I had half your courage Ruth! I adore your videos, and find myself hanging on your every word - especially these solo bothy stays! Funnily enough the spooky story of the 2 climbers in the 1970s and their experiences staying at the Luibeilt Bothy immediately made me think of you and whether you would ever consider an overnight stay there... I lived in Moulin near Pitlochry for a year or so in my 30s and adored it. Scotland is a magical place indeed. Sending love from New Zealand
As a dude that has slept over several very old buildings , I can assure you that the challenge wouldn't be to find a haunted one but one that is not. 😳
Could you stay the night in a remote bothy like this?
I have to be honest probably not😅🙋♂️
Noooooo, 😯
Not On my own,
Braver than Me Ruth, Hats off to you,
Absolutely absolutely yes I would like to.
I would like to experience it
I love it! Feels like living back in the early years. Your making me want to make a trip to Scotland. Such lovely landscape and cows!
I love your heart-meltingly beautiful Scottish accent as well as your obvious love and pride for your home nation.
Had a wee chuckle! Ruth sitting in a bothy, fire on getting quietly hammered! Superb!👍👏👏♥️🏴
@@oggie1967 😅
That was definately amusing
What's even more chucklelicious is that she packed in both the wood and whiskey to have a sit in front of the bothy fire, getting quietly hammered!
I totally get why you go to these wild, remote places. It's wonderful and magical. Thanks for sharing.
Totally agree!
That was lovely Ruth. So peaceful and scenic. Hairy coos, whisky & stunning views - Scotland at its finest 😊
The cows were very cute!
The red myth comes from bullfighting, where the movement, not the colour gets the bull's attention. So, don't worry about the jacket, just don't move.🤣 Who leaves single malt? Ruth, I love the fact that you're still moved emotionally by the scenery after all the travelling you've done!
Interesting! Never knew that!
Yes, it's not so much the color red that irks them as the preening berk in tight satin pants waving a sheet around.
That's right. The reason is: cows, horses and other big animals see in Black & White. They do notice when you move though. As far as ghosts are concerned, sorry, I don't know if they exist and whether they stay at bothies.
Such a lovely video, Ruth. Candlelight, a fire and whisky . . . Who could ask for more?! 😻
Fearless Ruth crushes another bothy!

Scotland always look's amazing in the summer when the forests are out, and it must be nice for it not be dark and freezing as well lol. It is pretty dark and cold for traveling in the winter! I enjoy the long summer days! ☀️
Just so ya know, all cattle are colorblind. The whole bull matador and red thing is somewhat of a myth. The movement of the cape is what actually agitated the bull. Red is safe!! :)
Oh Ruth you are adventurous! thank you so much for taking us along. Really enjoy your channel!
Thank you for yet another lovely video.

Nice to hear you enjoyed your trip to Scotland!
Wow! You did it again! You’re so brave! No way, I’d be so scared to stay in a bothy. Thanks Ruth for another great video.
Your smile is infectious especially over a shared "dram of whiskey" 👍
Whisky is Scottish
WhiskEy is Irish
@A2Z1Two3 Sorry, shame on me. Life is different in Idaho. Most of our whiskey is clear, like water.
Great video, really interesting to see what the Bothy's are really like.
Some nice drone footage in your video too 😉
Great to see you hiking on Mull! I hope to visit this great Isle next year again....
It’s beautiful island!
Hi Ruth,
thanks for living the live, I don't have the courage for. Please keep on doing so. Thanks !
Yes, I also love wild scenery that brings tears to my eyes. 🥰
I would love to see Ireland and Scotland...
Your travel vlogs from Scotland are unique and so precious ❤❤ Greetings from Paris
Thanks for watching from Paris!
Don't worry, Ruth.

New Ruth video! All is good in the world. ❤
Good to hear!
Thank you so much. I loved staying in a bothy (by proxie). The best bit was the dram of my favourite tipple, Lagavoulin, although I have only sampled the 10 year old. Slainte!
Lovely episode. Beautiful, remote location which are generally our favorite videos that you produce. Thanks for sharing your bothy visit.
Thanks, the location was amazing!
Wow, you made it past the cows and didn't see any ghosts! Very nice. The last bothy you looked a bit concerned😊
Yeah it was quite a different experience to this one!
Have whisky will travel! We know you love a good bothy, and a good whisky. OMG, Octomore....wow, it doesn't get any peatier than that. Great video Ruth.

I love that the bothy is so clean and no graffiti on it.....Seems like in the U.S. they tag every thing. Nice video.
Yes this one is nice

Thank you for sharing your bothy experience and what a great selection of whisky to be able to choose from ruth!🌼🙋♂️
Lots of great drivers drams from a recent Islay visit!
That sleeping bag is awesome. The Rab logo from the 80s is a real piece of nostalgia.
It’s so warm too!

Another brilliant video, Ruth. Those Highland cows are beautiful. That bothy looked chilly...i love you....

Lots of interesting books at this one!
I’m gonna sleep. Soooo well tonight while watching this, thank you Ruth !
You are so funny 🤣 with your whiskey collection! Very good idea to fill it in such small bottles ❤❤❤
Thanks again, Ruth…. You’re the best!
Another wonderful video, Ruth. Your makeup is always spot on. You could be a makeup artist lol.
Haha thank you but I’m definitely not skilled enough for that 😂
@@ruthaisling Don't sell yourself short 😂
I also do ghost-hunting for fun. If you ever get in a jam call this guy < 🤪

My first introduction to you was your other bothy video. I'm so glad you have another one! Your videos and sharing the beauty of Scotland with us makes me yearn to experience it myself ❤❤
With the snow, that area looks like my home in the Rocky Mountains. I couldn’t imagine living where there are no mountains. Beautiful area there!
Love your adventures Ruth. Island camping has always been dear to me.
Cheers from Canada.
Many thanks Ruth, I bet you were glad of the whiskey to aid your sleep and stay warm. Best Wishes. Andrew.
