Happy to hear this update. That’s the weird thing about running, rarely are people happy with a few runs a week and just doing it for fun, there’s almost always a weird sense or need for more and more and more to feel satisfied…. more speed, more kms, higher goals, push push push until we break haha. // LOVE your videos, tbh your channel is more lifestyle to me than running … you are the interest of this channel, not just your running.

Dan only just found your channel just caught a glimpse of that down hill glade and you saying maybe it’s the chilling after a trail run so had to subscribe! Wish you well in continued recovery. I have had similar challenges over the last 15 years of running, and suffer from Ulcerative Colitis. I missed almost two and a half years amongst those years due to flare ups but it kind of makes the great days even better. Am with you when you’re ready for the next ☝️ 🏃🏻‍♂️

Still get excited when a notification comes through saying Dan's uploaded a video. I think you should go over to Chamonix next year a be Scotty's chief crew. Loved your adventures with Scotty. Your face was aglow with happiness. Be patient with your running, little steps go along way. Hope to see you in Moody's for a nice long black. Did you know coffee in Moody was free last year as adidas paid the bill.

The last year I've gone from running marathons to struggling to hit an easy 5k, it's really hard when your health prevents you from doing things. I just got diagnosed with anaemia + celiacs so hopefully kicking my beloved gluten and getting on supplements will fix everything but I have so much respect for you keeping up the habit and doing the best you can with Crohn's.

Strange, this video makes me happy and sad at the same time. I see your passion and love in running, and the desire and dedication to get back. But also see the hardships of the journey and challenges that you face. Great thing is that you clearly have the dedication and desire, and even if the slow progress is forced, progress is progress no matter how small it is. I'm happy that you can still get flavours of it from time to time. Keep on being a champion Dan

Glad to see new videos from you whenever they pop up, I can really relate to the things you said about why you love running. When someone asks why I run (so much), it's hard to pinpoint what it actually is that makes me love it, it's just something about it that I can't really explain. Happy to hear that you are back running and hope you get what you want out of running and the rest of life :) As always your videos are enjoyable whether it's about running or something else.

Thank you so much for the update, Dan! Your videos have been a big part of why I got into trail running a few years ago after seven years of having lost my love for sports and probably having lost myself. Cheers from Switzerland.

so great to get an update and I’m super glad you’re still able to get out and get those good feelings.
I only first discovered your channel earlier this year while I was wiped out recovering from a serious concussion. Those 2-3 months where I was stuck
on the couch every day were hell, but watching your videos and following through those years of your journey really kept me sane. It gave me the motivation I needed to get my shoes back on and gradually build back up from 300m walks that were agony, to regular 10-15km runs now 9 months later. Hoping to run my first half marathon this summer!
Take it easy mate and thanks for all the incredible videos. Keep ‘em coming!

Great to see you back Dan! Absolutely loved this. I’ve found over the years of running (and I’m sure you’ve had this as well), that though the feeling never changes, my relationship to running has. Whether it be kids, life scenarios, or any number of changes, rarely am I running what I feel like “I should”. But it’s when I give up this idea of “should” and focus on what I can, in that season, is when I really start enjoying it again. Keep it up man!

Dan, stoked to see you back again! Sorry the running has turned out as it has currently. I am sure you will get back again. Even with less intensity you looked to have a good pace and flowing. You've still got it in you. I have been watching your back catalogue of Chamonix etc and they always motivate me. Looking forward to hearing what you have been getting into. Cycling? Glad someone asked about Sarge, I miss the old boy too. Hope all your family are ok. Does your mum still run? Just gotta mention your lawn! Textbook. Perhaps it's gardening giving you the buzz!! All the best mate, keep at it. Just know we will see you doing more miles. Looking forward to the next one. Gonna go run a mile or two now on the fells. You and Gemma take care. All the best from UK.

My own running journey is now nearly 17 years and being able to look back over that long time I see such similarities to the passage of life: the ups, the downs, good months, bad months, bad runs, soul enriching runs, falls, scrapes and all the rest. Hey Dan, it’s nice to see you brother. Always enjoy your uploads. You’ve got a very unique style, and you’re the realest. I’ve been dealing with torn meniscus in my one knee that’s been keeping me on the bench too. It’s been close to 2 years now since I’ve run much distance. I decided to quit it altogether while doing some prp injections.. Giving this a chance to work. Best of luck getting back to what you love, I know first hand how hard it is to sit out. Sometimes it seems like running is the only thing that holds me together, without it I’m lost

Cheers dude, really enjoyed this as I do all your videos. Even though you seem relatively content with your running, it's frustrating when your body won't do what you want it to. Your videos are always very relaxing to watch and I find myself pausing to see what the books are that you're reading or admiring the beautiful furniture/garden in your home so even if you're not feeling like you can do any running videos at the moment it might be cool to do another "stuff you're currently into" video like the one you did on Jutta Hipp and Neil Young recently or even a tour of your new home if it was something you were comfortable with.

The last year I've run more then any year of my life, in big part due to coming across you channel about a year ago. It's hard to hear about your continued setbacks with the running, but thank you for sharing. At 69 and having been running most of my life, and having had a fair amount of success racing, there are still places I want to go with it, but as my body slows down that might not be possible. I can only imagine at your young age how hard that must be but I admire your courage and honesty in facing all the challenges you have had the past several years. It makes me think of a quote from the photographer Edward Weston (most your age will not know who he is but I think as a photographer yourself you might) that goes: We are safe to finish what we have to finish. The best may be yet to come for you Dan, but it might be much different than you now imagine or even want.

Albert! I'm in a similar boat Dan, I ran my first ultra in 2018... I actually ran my first 4 ultras and 40 miles on my 40th birthday, and I've felt broken and flat since. I make a little progress here and there, but if I try to push it and make bigger gains I actually slide back. For me it's all worth the very occasional good day. Keep at it!

Running is not about how far you go. It is simply about moving forward. This video is about moving forward, so keep going. Inspirational stuff as always.

Thank you Dan for the open and honest video! I too am trying to navigate running and Crohn's disease. It is a hard journey. Your perspective has helped me through the struggle, I super appreciate you putting this out there.

Struggling with Chron's and figuring out how not to push it to far is not easy. I feel your struggle, I'm 6 months out from an incisional hernia repair from Chron's surgery 10 years ago.

I wonder if pushing your immune system running ultras can have triggered it?

Miss your videos something bad! Out from running since March with Achilles tendinitis. Not being able to run when running is your identity is a tough spot. We will get through it!
