    Am so glad you covered this in a quick look. I got my 3776 in Chartres Blue and Rhodium about two weeks ago from an authorised retailer in the UK and couldnt be happier. Medium nib writes well on lots of different types of papers (especially office paper which was a key requirement), ridiculously well balanced and behaves superbly with the lovely Asa Blue flowing out it... The only way it could be more perfect would be to make it ever so slightly bigger but then Im a big dude loving the Vac 700 etc so for most people, I'd imagine it's the perfect size. Thanks for the Vid Brian

The color is so gorgeous, and usually I don't like blue with yellow gold, but it's so pretty I had to have it. I have and love the Chatres blue. But gosh, how I really also want the Borgogne (burgundy?) one as well. It looks gorgeous. The 3776 is a great, dependable writer, and I don’t mind the slight feedback feel on my medium nib. I wish to try out the broad nib on the 3776. The Americans, Italians and the Japanese all make such a variety of wonderful fountain pens. From Japan, I like my Sailor pens best. Pilot and Platinum are tied at second. At any rate, my own collection is dominated by pens from these three countries. The 3776 is under-rated only by those who have yet to write with one.

    The blue and bourgogne look awesome - but the Nice caught my eye.
    Someone on the Goulet website has written a review for it and said the barrel is very uncomfortable to use (due to the flat bits I suppose) - comment?
    This makes me think twice about it, although I really dig the clear, 'frosted glass' effect used on the pen with the rose gold trim. I'm torn! Please advise. I'd probably be happy with the blue or wine but the Nice is my first choice...

      Everyone's grip and feel for a pen is different. This is one of Brian's favorite and most underrated gold nib options out there, and he doesn't mention any issues with the barrel being uncomfortable, even with the facets. If you are a bit worried, the Pilot Custom 74 is a similar pen that might fit you just as well. - Colin

    After watching your video, I purchased the pen. Thank you for helping me. Now that I have had the pen for about a month, I have loved the way it writes and take it with me a lot. I did have one ugly problem: the proprietary converter leaked so badly that the ink escaped into the body. I did not realize it until I kept getting my thumb and index finger soaked in ink! After realizing ink was soaking it, I checked the body. It cleaned up easily; however, I have a question. I watched one video (yours I believe) in which you suggested the problem in another type of filler could be solved by using silicon grease on a q-tip and gently spreading some around the walls of the tube. Will that work, or should I purchase another converter (from Goulet, of course)?

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think what you're describing is with the Lamy 2000, and it's piston filling mechanism. That's usually if the piston is being difficult to move, and the grease will let it glide easier for filling. Not really helping in terms of leaking. Was it leaking out of the converter itself, or the connection it was making with the section when writing? - Colin

    • @keithwhitney7491
      @keithwhitney7491 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Goulet Pen Company Found an old video Brian did demonstrating my exact problem (on a Platinum converter no less) All I did was search the TH-cam site more specifically. Next order I will probably get an extra though. Thanks.

    • @Gouletpens

    @nunnayahbeeswax8500 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, so. Platinum 3776 vs. the Visconti Rembrandt (which I know y'all don't have in quite yet) - what would be the major differences that might lead somebody to choose one versus the other?

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're going to be fairly close to the same price, other than the obvious style difference there are some good differences to point out. The 3776 slip n seal cap will really help keep the nib wet. The 3776 has a threaded cap, Rembrandt is snap cap. Both take converters and cartridges, but the Rembrandt takes a more universal Standard International. The Rembrandt had a slick metal grip, which some may or may not like. Lots of subtle differences. -Brian

    I have been using this pen with a SF nib. It works mostly okay, even a little flex, but from time to time it skips and hard starts, specially with fast horizontal pulling lines with no pressure to a very light pressure (not enough to flex). I have been trying to clean it a few times and changing inks, but the problem remains. Could you give me some advice to solve that? The pen is lovely in every other way...

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be mindful of the pen angle as you're writing quickly, both to the paper and to the line if that makes sense. Over-rotation can cause some skipping issues, especially when trying to keep up with the ink demands of faster writing. - Colin
