He doesnt need EVGA 300 $ PSU. EVGA isnt better than CM, Corsair, Enermax, Antec or any other "quality" PSU, they just pour crapload money into marketing. I have ANTEC cheapo PSU for years now, and it works like it first day. What he can do is buy Windows 10 for 25-30 bucks on Kinguin, and use money left for 1060 6 gb.

Then you'd have to have an UPS with LiFe cells, and BIG ones, My E scooter will have an 512Wh Batt, This and this is big enougth that i have to mod the batt bay. And guess what? a 500W system will last only an HOUR to that batt ( which is an i5 4690K + 1070 ) , Then Oops there is the Balancing leads to do to keep the Batts in life, so add an BMS too, if your system was 1000W, youd need an 40A BMS, which are costly, thend youd have to solder, heatshrink, Assemble the batt without shorting it Because have ou saw what a simple 12V 7Ah batt short can do? a whole dent in a big knife. so you'd need at least 1S2P LiFes to get 40Ah at 25.6V, aka 1024Wh, 1.5H for a 1080 system. Then you'd have to do a Casing with secure mounts, and at the end the system would be so clunky and Heavy that all that would be a useless...
as a student... i still wait and wait and wait for some manufacturer , to make a 99Whr battery powered laptop, with a mobile core i5/i7 U. Hell, even a Core m would be fine. Something like 8gigs of ddr3L or ddr4, a 1080p low-powered non-touch screen (for less power consumption) and a nice little SSD. This has to be said, at this point, we don't even care if a laptop is 2cm or 4cm thick, weight is not that much of an issue, BUT WE WANT MOAR BATTERY LIFE! It simple won't happen. Most manufacturers who are building with those low power CPUs are looking to build thin-and lights, not (relatively) thick and heavy laptops.

I messed up. At a second look that's an older one. X250. And also that's with two batteries that are hot swappable which I didn't quite realise. The newer x260 you'll get 17+hrs out of the 3+6cell and 25hrs if you're keen on taking two batteries. Probably no heavier than a power brick. More battery life than a Surface Book with performance base at less than half the cost and that's without swapping batteries. No wacom so I won't buy one but if all you care about is a decent laptop with long battery life then it seems like the best you can get.

As a fellow leftie I understand the frustration, but it kinda makes sense from a business perspective... obviously they had to put the track-pad in line with the keyboard for some reason, presumably there's something big underneath the normal area - and as only about 1 in 10 people are left handed, and out of that 1 in ten about half just use a right-handed setup (myself included) there's not much of a market for us...
I'm a lefty and would have no problem with it. I gave zero shits about numpads. In fact my current keyboard is tenkeyless with a trackpad on the right. No issue. The bigger battery is way more important. This is more of a "I hate change" kind of whine.

Buy this laptop or build a 4 way 1080 sli desktop.... what would u choose? EDIT: or you could get a 2 way 1080 sli pc as well as a mid-high end ultrabook. PC will pack more power for home gaming (and upgradable) whilst you can bring the ultrabook to class more easily than the blade pro (also more battery life)

Gotta say, I could not DISAGREE MORE on the keyboard aspect. This was a HUGE major selling point for me, and personally *I* couldn't be happier with the keyboard. Have no issues whatsoever with consistency or fast typing. . not sure if you just got a bum keyboard or what. Naturally, it's a highly subjective subject, but I had to throw my experience into the mix as I personally feel that the keyboard absolutely makes the laptop. As for the trackpad, the positioning doesn't bother me, but I was surprised by how much I actually USED the volume/scroll wheel. As for fan loudness let's face it: It's the price you're going to have to pay to have acceptable thermals in a notebook this thin/relatively light. For anyone reading this, it's not a jet engine. . it's more like a loud whoosh of a HUGE house fan. Headphones DEFINITELY apply. there are "quiet" and "cool" modes in synapse to try to keep the noise down, but I keep it on "Cool" because I'm not a fan [get it] of high temps. Internally the 1080 hits around 70-74c and the CPU can spike up into the mid 80s with a midline in the low 70c range. There's also a lot of contention around the actual real world PERFORMANCE of the GTX 1080 that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned. The forums are LOUSY with people complaining that early benchmarks put this notebook squarely in the GTX 1070 category. . . is there some kind of moratorium on this while Razer seeks to get Nvidia's certification for the 1080? I say this because as of the time of this posting you CANNOT install drivers from Nvidia.com, you MUST use Razer's proprietary drivers, and firestrike won't certify the card for results EITHER. Lots more to talk about and many unanswered questions.
you are 100% right , infact razorblade is such a con artists they pack a 4500$ unit with a 6700HQ CPU which is ALREADY outdated offer a 250V adapter for such a V hungry Machine Perform as a lousy 1070 machine with a price tag of an SLI 1080 Machine I will never buy such a unit such a rip off , Not to mention that it has a 60 HERTZ SCREEN with a 4k Resolution that will tax the fk out of your graphic card and wont be able to run any high end games with steady FPS. Not to mention that this machine also run incredibly Hot with just 2 fans and barely any holes in the chasis to keep the system cool it also runs extremely loud around 78DB mind you that a normal conversation takes places at around 50 DB so the 78 DB will require you to shout over the fan noise this machine produces while underload. This machine was designed to be a perfect product on the outside and an attention grabber but as soon as you delve into the performance and the interior specs of the machine you will be surprised
I feel bad I was ready to shit on this but, after seeing raid NVME drives, a 1080 and a 4k RGB IPS display... dang it's better than my desktop rig. I don't really care about the quality of the keyboard, pad or speakers because in reality if you're buying this as a desktop replacement you'll probably be using high quality peripherals at home with a sound system and headphones on the go perhaps paired with a wireless set of peripherals so, its sort of a moot point on an extremely costly 'gaming' device. If you have 4 grand (assuming US) probably 6 here in aus i think you can afford the peripherals to make it shine and make the room for them in your Bentley

Hey Linus, I don't know if you'll ever get around to reading this but I just wanted to share my thoughts on a little nuance in your video. You talked about whether this laptop is good for professional gaming and concluded that because it has some beefy specs it's powerful enough and suitable for pro gaming. I really have to disagree with you on that point. The most popular of competitive games (LoL, DoTA, CS:GO, etc.) are extremely easy to run at 200+ fps with even mid tier specs. What matters way more is the screen refresh rate and response time. I personally would not dub a laptop fit for professional gaming unless it has at least a 120hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. It is way more important to have this than color accuracy if your goal is to competitively game. Obviously there aren't many laptops out there that have these specs but there are a few. Obviously this is a minor detail and you probably already know this but I felt like it needed to be said. I would much rather compete on a first gen i5 and a 750 ti with a 144hz monitor vs top of the line i7 and a GTX 1080 with a 60hz screen.
charlesnoah99 I didn't mean to say 4k at 120hz. These games need to be played at very high framerates. Many CS:GO pros play 4:3 resolution for a few reasons but one of those being it makes it way easier to push 300+ fps. 1080p 144hz is what most competitors use with new monitors coming out at 1080p 240hz. Professional gaming isn't about the game looking pretty, it's about performance.

There's no such thing as a 1ms response time. Most screens use all sorts of tricks to "claim" 1ms, but you'll be hard-pressed to find one that actually gets below 50ms. Now input lag is another question, and that is important for gaming as some laptops can really fuck that up.
Pyrii Yeah I am aware. I just use it as a reference because the 1ms grey to grey response time usually results in overall low input lag and that's what manufacturers use to classify their displays.

Let's not forget that a right-oriented trackpad is rather unusable (at least super inconvenient) for a left-handed person. There are many things that left-handed people are used to doing right-handed (such as the mouse I use with this computer), but when it comes to very dexterous things like scrolling with your fingers, you almost always want to use your dominant hand. Sure we only make up 10% of people, but in a highly competitive PC market, first sight of that made me disqualify it from my purchase scope. I get what they were doing with the battery, but at the cost of potential buyers, even if only 1 out of 5 left-handed people deemed to too inconvenient for their personal use, that is a loss of 2% of the potential market simply because of a silly design choice. The centralized trackpad has always kept everyone happy.

Norbert Csorba the more energy you store, the more chances it can go boom and if it does, it increase it's yield. the note 7 battery was bigger but was the same in architecture than other batteries of it's kind. so when exposed to energy, whatever it was heat or electricity, some containement mesures failed and made the whole battery discharge in an instant, generating a lot of heat, breaking even more containement and accelerating the process. causing the phone to catch fire. with a computer battery things would be even bigger but PC's batteries are heavly shielded and benefit from the computer's cooling system.

Hi Linus!! First time commenter on your channel, yet long time sub. I know you give honest constructive criticisms to products you love, out of love and respect for the product. My only critique of this review is you may have missed a mark here. If this laptop is supposed to be a "desktop" contender, wouldn't you surmise that the person who would purchase this product may indulge in higher end peripherals to fit their need? A mouse, in turn, would alleviate the track pad dead zone, single-finger application, and running out of real estate issue. A keyboard would...you get the picture. I do agree that as a stand alone, portable "pro" high-end product it should be intuitive, or even a one size fits all type of product. I guess, in the end, I would envision a person placing this beast on their desk, attached to all of their favorite peripherals and in the rarest of occasions remove the laptop from their desk to transport, collaborate with others...etc. I digress. DBAN is probably the most well known disk wiper. www.dban.org/ Be sure to be careful because it will erase everything including windows. I suggest you only do this on a drive you plan on selling or throwing away. (I personally put a drive I think I can live without aside for 2+ years and if after that time I've never needed I'm sure I can throw it out.) However if you're a novice you'll probably need a guide how to make a boot drive and how to boot into said boot drive.
Apprecaite your non-biased review Linus even if it does cost you some points with Razer. This is the kind of content I like to watch, people that don't cater to people just to keep getting preferential treatment for "soft" reviews. Will always be a fan as long as you keep this mantra!
My father purchased one of these and it has serious heating issues. Razer fixed him up with a replacement within the first month, but the second one also can't get below 80C when it's only running a browser. After 30-45 minutes of gaming he has to shut it down to cool off. Pretty awesome specs, but it doesn't matter when you can't use it.
I think Razer changed the trackpad for the consumer release. According to the video, there is a dead spot on the trackpad but I haven't noticed any. I can use the full surface of the trackpad without any loss of movement. And you can change the acceleration on the trackpad so you can move across the screen without taking off finger and reposition again.
Beeweasd Because its mechanical, and having access to a mechanical keyboard was one of the few things that held me back fro using a laptop over a desktop. Because membrane is shit. And I don't see how the things he pointed out such as "arrow keys" etc, are going to be an issue for me when I hardly use them except in a word document to skip forward or backward through the text. The sound difference was unreliable as he was hitting the X and the Z at completely different speeds. The trackpad placement is one of my favourite things as it means I can have my arms at the same distance away from me without having them in an uncomfortable position.
It's a really good keyboard I trust Linus but idk now his way of "testing" the keyboard was idk vague I wasn't sure what he was getting at all in all it's a really good keyboard.
Hey guys, I need some help! My desktop pc (i7, asus motherboard, radeaon r9 270x 4GB and 16GB ram) has turned off several times without any action on the power input or the power button. It happened twice and now it has shut down again, and when I try to make it boot, all the fans are blowing at full speed (the case's and the GPU's, the CPU's is not running) and I have no video output. Nothing. What may have happened? Which component is dead? If you could leave a like to bump the comment to the top it would be awesome! ;)
Thanks I'll add something: it happened to me on the same PC 1 year ago, I returned some of the components and they said at the shop that the motherboard was the problem, and they replaced it. It worked fine afterwards. So, maybe the gpu, but how would it affect the rest of the computer? The case fans shouldn't be running like that either

As a fellow leftie I understand the frustration, but it kinda makes sense from a business perspective... obviously they had to put the track-pad in line with the keyboard for some reason, presumably there's something big underneath the normal area - and as only about 1 in 10 people are left handed, and out of that 1 in ten about half just use a right-handed setup (myself included) there's not much of a market for us...
I'm a lefty and would have no problem with it. I gave zero shits about numpads. In fact my current keyboard is tenkeyless with a trackpad on the right. No issue. The bigger battery is way more important. This is more of a "I hate change" kind of whine.

EDIT: or you could get a 2 way 1080 sli pc as well as a mid-high end ultrabook. PC will pack more power for home gaming (and upgradable) whilst you can bring the ultrabook to class more easily than the blade pro (also more battery life)

I prefer the way Linus review is always blunt and to the point. Save me lots of trouble to when I searching for something cause usually his video alone is enough for me.
Gotta say, I could not DISAGREE MORE on the keyboard aspect. This was a HUGE major selling point for me, and personally *I* couldn't be happier with the keyboard. Have no issues whatsoever with consistency or fast typing. . not sure if you just got a bum keyboard or what. Naturally, it's a highly subjective subject, but I had to throw my experience into the mix as I personally feel that the keyboard absolutely makes the laptop.
As for the trackpad, the positioning doesn't bother me, but I was surprised by how much I actually USED the volume/scroll wheel.
As for fan loudness let's face it: It's the price you're going to have to pay to have acceptable thermals in a notebook this thin/relatively light. For anyone reading this, it's not a jet engine. . it's more like a loud whoosh of a HUGE house fan. Headphones DEFINITELY apply. there are "quiet" and "cool" modes in synapse to try to keep the noise down, but I keep it on "Cool" because I'm not a fan [get it] of high temps. Internally the 1080 hits around 70-74c and the CPU can spike up into the mid 80s with a midline in the low 70c range.
There's also a lot of contention around the actual real world PERFORMANCE of the GTX 1080 that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned. The forums are LOUSY with people complaining that early benchmarks put this notebook squarely in the GTX 1070 category. . . is there some kind of moratorium on this while Razer seeks to get Nvidia's certification for the 1080? I say this because as of the time of this posting you CANNOT install drivers from Nvidia.com, you MUST use Razer's proprietary drivers, and firestrike won't certify the card for results EITHER.
Lots more to talk about and many unanswered questions.

you are 100% right , infact razorblade is such a con artists they pack a 4500$ unit with a 6700HQ CPU which is ALREADY outdated offer a 250V adapter for such a V hungry Machine Perform as a lousy 1070 machine with a price tag of an SLI 1080 Machine I will never buy such a unit such a rip off , Not to mention that it has a 60 HERTZ SCREEN with a 4k Resolution that will tax the fk out of your graphic card and wont be able to run any high end games with steady FPS. Not to mention that this machine also run incredibly Hot with just 2 fans and barely any holes in the chasis to keep the system cool it also runs extremely loud around 78DB mind you that a normal conversation takes places at around 50 DB so the 78 DB will require you to shout over the fan noise this machine produces while underload. This machine was designed to be a perfect product on the outside and an attention grabber but as soon as you delve into the performance and the interior specs of the machine you will be surprised

I feel bad I was ready to shit on this but, after seeing raid NVME drives, a 1080 and a 4k RGB IPS display... dang it's better than my desktop rig. I don't really care about the quality of the keyboard, pad or speakers because in reality if you're buying this as a desktop replacement you'll probably be using high quality peripherals at home with a sound system and headphones on the go perhaps paired with a wireless set of peripherals so, its sort of a moot point on an extremely costly 'gaming' device. If you have 4 grand (assuming US) probably 6 here in aus i think you can afford the peripherals to make it shine and make the room for them in your Bentley

I don't know if you'll ever get around to reading this but I just wanted to share my thoughts on a little nuance in your video. You talked about whether this laptop is good for professional gaming and concluded that because it has some beefy specs it's powerful enough and suitable for pro gaming.
I really have to disagree with you on that point. The most popular of competitive games (LoL, DoTA, CS:GO, etc.) are extremely easy to run at 200+ fps with even mid tier specs. What matters way more is the screen refresh rate and response time.
I personally would not dub a laptop fit for professional gaming unless it has at least a 120hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. It is way more important to have this than color accuracy if your goal is to competitively game. Obviously there aren't many laptops out there that have these specs but there are a few.
Obviously this is a minor detail and you probably already know this but I felt like it needed to be said. I would much rather compete on a first gen i5 and a 750 ti with a 144hz monitor vs top of the line i7 and a GTX 1080 with a 60hz screen.

Many CS:GO pros play 4:3 resolution for a few reasons but one of those being it makes it way easier to push 300+ fps. 1080p 144hz is what most competitors use with new monitors coming out at 1080p 240hz. Professional gaming isn't about the game looking pretty, it's about performance.

There's no such thing as a 1ms response time. Most screens use all sorts of tricks to "claim" 1ms, but you'll be hard-pressed to find one that actually gets below 50ms.
Now input lag is another question, and that is important for gaming as some laptops can really fuck that up.
Pyrii Yeah I am aware. I just use it as a reference because the 1ms grey to grey response time usually results in overall low input lag and that's what manufacturers use to classify their displays.

Let's not forget that a right-oriented trackpad is rather unusable (at least super inconvenient) for a left-handed person. There are many things that left-handed people are used to doing right-handed (such as the mouse I use with this computer), but when it comes to very dexterous things like scrolling with your fingers, you almost always want to use your dominant hand. Sure we only make up 10% of people, but in a highly competitive PC market, first sight of that made me disqualify it from my purchase scope. I get what they were doing with the battery, but at the cost of potential buyers, even if only 1 out of 5 left-handed people deemed to too inconvenient for their personal use, that is a loss of 2% of the potential market simply because of a silly design choice. The centralized trackpad has always kept everyone happy.

Norbert Csorba the more energy you store, the more chances it can go boom and if it does, it increase it's yield. the note 7 battery was bigger but was the same in architecture than other batteries of it's kind. so when exposed to energy, whatever it was heat or electricity, some containement mesures failed and made the whole battery discharge in an instant, generating a lot of heat, breaking even more containement and accelerating the process. causing the phone to catch fire. with a computer battery things would be even bigger but PC's batteries are heavly shielded and benefit from the computer's cooling system.

Hi Linus!! First time commenter on your channel, yet long time sub. I know you give honest constructive criticisms to products you love, out of love and respect for the product. My only critique of this review is you may have missed a mark here. If this laptop is supposed to be a "desktop" contender, wouldn't you surmise that the person who would purchase this product may indulge in higher end peripherals to fit their need? A mouse, in turn, would alleviate the track pad dead zone, single-finger application, and running out of real estate issue. A keyboard would...you get the picture. I do agree that as a stand alone, portable "pro" high-end product it should be intuitive, or even a one size fits all type of product. I guess, in the end, I would envision a person placing this beast on their desk, attached to all of their favorite peripherals and in the rarest of occasions remove the laptop from their desk to transport, collaborate with others...etc. I digress. Be sure to be careful because it will erase everything including windows. I suggest you only do this on a drive you plan on selling or throwing away.
(I personally put a drive I think I can live without aside for 2+ years and if after that time I've never needed I'm sure I can throw it out.)
However if you're a novice you'll probably need a guide how to make a boot drive and how to boot into said boot drive.

My father purchased one of these and it has serious heating issues. Razer fixed him up with a replacement within the first month, but the second one also can't get below 80C when it's only running a browser. After 30-45 minutes of gaming he has to shut it down to cool off. Pretty awesome specs, but it doesn't matter when you can't use it.

I think Razer changed the trackpad for the consumer release.
According to the video, there is a dead spot on the trackpad but I haven't noticed any. I can use the full surface of the trackpad without any loss of movement.
And you can change the acceleration on the trackpad so you can move across the screen without taking off finger and reposition again.

Beeweasd Because its mechanical, and having access to a mechanical keyboard was one of the few things that held me back fro using a laptop over a desktop. Because membrane is shit. And I don't see how the things he pointed out such as "arrow keys" etc, are going to be an issue for me when I hardly use them except in a word document to skip forward or backward through the text. The sound difference was unreliable as he was hitting the X and the Z at completely different speeds. The trackpad placement is one of my favourite things as it means I can have my arms at the same distance away from me without having them in an uncomfortable position.

My desktop pc (i7, asus motherboard, radeaon r9 270x 4GB and 16GB ram) has turned off several times without any action on the power input or the power button. It happened twice and now it has shut down again, and when I try to make it boot, all the fans are blowing at full speed (the case's and the GPU's, the CPU's is not running) and I have no video output. Nothing.
What may have happened? Which component is dead?

I'll add something: it happened to me on the same PC 1 year ago, I returned some of the components and they said at the shop that the motherboard was the problem, and they replaced it. It worked fine afterwards.
So, maybe the gpu, but how would it affect the rest of the computer? The case fans shouldn't be running like that either
