I got my stock seat reworked by Mean City Cycles and I’m very happy with it. Got them to cut out a tailbone relief channel and moved me back 1”. Feels really good now and only cost $250.
I just bought Saddlemen Ls road sofa , I put on 260 miles on Monday 3rd went through Canton down 12 too N Sioux City then up to Vermilion then Yankton and back to Sioux Falls , had to stop 6 times, about 50 miles get off for 10 minutes and I was good to go again , definitely take the bumps out , hope it breaks in , my experience so far is like yours
I've got about 4,000K miles on mine now. I had severe buyers remorse after getting it. Super hard. Numb ass, the works. After 4K though I feel like it's a completely different seat. Way more comfortable now. Give it more time. Hopefully you have the same results. Or just buy a goldwing for those long trips like me. 😄
I've got the ASR seat that was made by Saddlemen. 3500 miles on it and it's finally got me to the point of not wanting to ride because it's so uncomfortable. I heard that the step up with tuck and roll was the softest because of the stitching, but I don't know. I think I'm gunna try out the Mustang Super Tour Deluxe. I'm 6'5" at 300lbs, so I need to be set back too. Everything I've seen on reviews say it's a much more comfortable ride. I just Hate sacrificing the look. And, the damn seats ain't cheap. Can't be buying 4 or 5 of em.
I'm currently breaking in my San Diego Customs seat made by Saddlemen for my 2021 Roadglide Special. After only the first 50 miles I was ready to put stock seat back on. But im giving it time and now after 500 miles its improved ever so slightly. Im hoping it gets better with time but after your review, im skeptical. The best thing this seat does is lock you in. I can say Ive never had another seat hold you in position through aggressive riding and twisties like this does. But as of now i can't see doing rides longer than 100-150. And thats pushing it.
The SDC is a great choice as it's somewhat a best of both worlds between comfort and aggressive design. Like a pair of new leather dress shoes - some shorter initial rides is typically the best way to break it in. Thanks for being part of the Saddlemen family.
2020 Heritage S 4000+mi. and I have no complaints. Two 1200mi trips with ease. Riding for 40 years and this seat is 2nd best seat I have ridden on. 1st being '95 Softail FXSTC. over 70,000mi
Tbh what killed this review was not the seat it was the suspension. I had stock and this seat being stiffer definitely was not helpful but since I swapped to Legends in the back I love the seat.
Bought a Saddleman seat for my wife's Softail and she wouldn't even ride it after sitting on it because it was so hard. We went to a local shop that specialized in recovering motorcycle seats and had the stock seat reworked.
@@MeathedMoto I love my 21 RG but my 06 RG had such a better ride and I think part of that was the stock seat with 25000 miles on it. It wasn’t the prettiest but damn it sure was comfy.
@@MeathedMoto Break-in period varies with rider weight and a couple other factors- it can be as little as 350 miles and longer for some lighter-weight riders. Glad your seat is breaking in nicely for you.
I have the same seat on my road glide. I probably have close to 10,000 miles on it. I took a trip from Florida to Illinois last year, for a total of almost 2400 miles. At about the 75-100 mile point, my ass was hurting. My next seat will probably be a Mustang or Hartco.
I had the same problem with my Roadsofa LS. Hard as s as rock. Sold it after about 2k miles with about a $300 loss. I also felt like gel made the seat hot as fit in the summer.
As time has gone on the seat has gotten better. The true test will come at the end of the month when Ill probably be putting down 1200 miles or more in a week
I'm also looking for a good seat for my 21 Road glide special and im beginning to hate my stock seat. Looking at the Lucky Dave's Bagger seat for the positive reviews unfortunately its not available as of the moment. Ride safe and stay safe bro!
that's what I'm looking at too. I've heard good things, I'll probably order the get lucky one when it's back in stock since my wife likes to ride with as well.
Honestly the seat isn't bad. It is stiffer than stock so if you're running stock suspension it's uncomfortable. But since I swapped to legends in the rear I enjoy the seat a hell of a lot more
glad i didnt buy one. i had a road sofa and took that thing back next day it sucked. i have a ultimate seat and its great for 2 up riding. im sending my stock seat to mean city cycles for custom seat look
Coming up on two years do you still have this seat? If you do has it gotten better if not what seat did you go with. I’m looking at this seat, Lucky Dave’s or Lepera Kickflip all in the tuck n roll look
I still have it. It still stiff but not horrible. The stock suspension made the stiffness so much worse but after swapping the stock rear suspension to an aftermarket one I enjoy the seat far more

I might get a second seat for longer rides because this seat definitely is like a 100 mile tripper that's it.

Lol I'll keep my mind open for both options

I bought the step-up LePera Seat and it was soft and comfortable right from the start compared to the Saddleman or Mustang Brand.

I would agree..I'm keeping up with conditioning it to help the leather soften up a bit

Terrific . Rubber side down. Ride it like you stole it

Mine has got better with time. But I've had to condition it, ride it and hope. Like i wish it had been just sit in it and ride it and be happy.

I'll get a LePera Kick Flip next time instead. I like the look but not the comfort of the step up
I notice you don't have highway pegs. Those will change your riding position and force you back a bit. Just a thought. Ride safe brother 🙏

I think it depends on the rider also, I love mine on the Dyna. Great review though I always like to here other people's opinion 🤘🤘

Man you was so real about talking about that seat
Great for looks. Good for the aggressive curvy roads. Not good for more than a long as trip.
Was about to buy one since they look so good , my stock seat is ok in the comfort zone but just ugly 😆 2021 RKspecial

I was content with the OEM seat until I started feeling the plastic seat pan
I get that
I have a Sundowner that I’ve always been happy with…except the looks.
It’s disappointing to this over and over about Saddlemen
It's definitely a stiff seat and with stock rear suspension it's borderline unbearable but now that I have Legends in the back I enjoy the seat more
I love saddlemen seats
It's not a bad seat just not that comfortable after a long time
Canton SD. I go there every Tues.
Nice. It's definitely a good area to ride. One of the better locations for twists and turns
@@MeathedMoto is that on the south end goin to Lakota ?
Probably need the road sofa
Road sofa is a nice seat...just don't like the look.
Indeed The Road Sofa line is the more comfort-oriented option
glad i didnt buy one. i had a road sofa and took that thing back next day it sucked. i have a ultimate seat and its great for 2 up riding. im sending my stock seat to mean city cycles for custom seat look
Buy a Lepera tailwhip. You can sell that one easily
🤔
@@MeathedMoto can't deny bro he's right. I loved that lepera daytona on my street bob. worked awesome for that trip this year!
