Read more Read more great video. Thank you for this useful information. Have you ever tried to make your own malted barley. I've been making toasted malted barley for a long time now and it gives a much better beer in the end. I do have a few "how to malt and toast barley" videos and how to make all the toasted malts that you need. I hope it will help others as well. th-cam.com/video/0S6Tb7w8NDI/w-d-xo.html here is the link
Thanks so much for this comment! I am extremely interested in malting my own barley. I am hoping to get an acre of barley planted next year to try my hand! Subbed your channel, look forward to using your vids :D
Awesome man!! recommend putting the thermometer lower though!! mine is too high, and when I get to like 1 or 2 gallons, i lose sight of the actual liquid temp.. besides that the build was good.
pro tip!! put the thermometer low!! once your water level goes below it you can't tell the temp anymore!! :D Good luck with your build, hope it turns out awesome! Thanks for watching.
Ooh rah devildog! I've watched several of your videos. Outstanding work bro! Keep it up. I'm in western West Virginia. Working on getting my all grain setup up and running. I'm gonna take your continuous sparge setup and modify it for my gear. Anything you'd do different? I was thinking a center tube as well perhaps to drain down the middle of the grain as well. Maybe our paths will cross some day and we can enjoy some brews together. Semper Fi!
Scott Yates honestly the only thing I would do differently is move the thermometer down.. I didn't realize that it's at like the 4 gallon mark.. so I lose the temp when I start sparring.:( I do really like the screen tubes, they work and are substantially cheaper than a false bottom. all in all its great! look forward to having a beer with you someday.
Like what you've done.. making a a mash tun this weekend. How is the stainless false bottom tubes holding up in yours do they mash down/clog at all? Seems like weight of grain would crush but I can't tell how rigid that tube is. Pondering if need a grate suspended above. Cheers
Ron Peel I have used both, the tubes are great. no worries on the grain crushing it. I'd go lower on my valve next time though. I did have a bit of a struggle really setting the grain bed. but I think that was user error and not the fault of the screens. my recommendation though, go with the tubes.
Looks very cool, looking to getting into all grain and want to build instead of buy just like u did. where do you get the screen for the bottom of the cooler??
Thanks for reminding me.. I thought I had put the parts list in the comments. I just finished finding all the parts. I piece it together and it seems everything came up to 275 bucks or so... Let me know if you have any questions!!
I dont understand why you need a second kettle just to heat up some water. Can't you put a couple kitchen pots on the stove and get the strike water ready faster? I just heat the water in the brew kettle for a 4 gallon BIAB batch. Another identical kettle is so expensive!
Kentucky Homestead ok thanks man! I just bought a 440 stainless 42gt turkey fryer w/ stainless stand and cooker unit off Amazon for 80.00 brand new. It's even got the drain valve in er and thermo gauge!😀 It'll work fur sure!
Kentucky Homestead there are 11 left on the sight! They sell for 119.00. But if you like down you will see marked down ones for 80.00! Damaged box or some shit that's all......😀

Interesting video, you can try a tool that has two pieces with cutting edges, with a bolt in the centre, I have used one years ago

I HATE the open pipe A-holes too. Worse than 5 year olds, "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!"
Boy would I like to have a pint of homemade brew. If the good Lord is willing it might happen...
I am going to have to do this....so cool!!!! Definitely keep posting updates on this.
You will I promise!
Just make sure the silicon is food grade
doesn't matter, nothing will ever touch it.
Very nice kettles. The hard part is learning how to produce real beer beer with the nice kettles, instead of home made style beer.
Haha.. that's not hard. that's fun..
