Not really, but she did expect to see him staying. Remember the part where he "confessed" that he raped her, just to save her from the allegations and stuff. I felt bad for her that she was left alone. But Harald better off to Northman's Way.
@augustineosei4352 As if Constantinople is more powerful than the British Empire. I don't think so. Considering Vikings made a monopoly of the UK for a time, they probably beat the Eastern Roman hierarchy to the punch.
There's needs to be one more season of Vikings Valhalla, because they set the stage for the battles in 1066 at Stamford Bridge against Harald and Edward and then Edward vs William Duke of Normandy which effectivley brings an end to the Viking Age once Harald dies.

In real life he spent 7 years in Constanitople and led the Vangarian guard, that's how he able to come back to Norway with an army and ships and riches like he did.
The real Harald never fought against Maniakes,. When Maniakes rose up to take the Byzantine Throne Haralds had been no longer on Byzantine territory, but on Norway..
He spent 7 years in Constantinople. In the show he spends 8 years in exile , in real life , he spent 15 years in exile . By the time Maniakes came to power , he was already away from Byzantine territory and was on Scandinavian territory
George Maniakis (Girgir for the Vikings) was an important figure in the Byzantine Empire (Grikkland with it's Grikkhafnir ), a civilization often referred to as the Eastern Romans, who were, in fact, Greeks. The Vikings acknowledged the Byzantines as Greeks and held a certain level of respect for them. General Georgios Maniakis was perceived as a great warrior by the Vikings, who admired his prowess on the battlefield and his leadership abilities. He never fought against Harald Hardrada, nor did he plot against Emperor Romanos, as the latter did not exist during Georgios Maniakis’s time. And please, a little historical accuracy never hurts! Literally the best scene of the entire season oh my daysss!!! had to reload this one straight after watching and now somehow ended up watching it again on here 😅 The soundtrack in this scene is 10/10!! fucking SICKKKK
Excellent fight scene, at least dramatically, and it has verisimilitude, in that as an amateur historian but a complete newb when it comes to actual sword martial arts, it seems much more realistic to me than most, with the exception of the ending, like no reason Maniakes wouldn't just move the spear to one side instead of just holding it, or hell, kick Hardrada in the balls. But, gotta make some concessions for good drama.
As usual i am to focused on Leo Suter amazing body to focus on the fight scene. What can i say ? I crushed on him really hard. He is probably the only reason why i watched until here since this is not even close to be my favorite show. 😂
944-945 AD. Constantinople hardly wanted more smoke after an even bigger force of Rus' approached the city just three years after the previous siege. the show butchered the story.. General Maniakes was actually a mighty general that crushed enemy armies over and over again, even the renowned Normans were afraid to engage in battle against him. He was so powerful that he launched a whole revolt against the emperor. His army was so huge that they won battle after battle, raiding Byzantine towns and villages. He brought the entire empire to the brink of collapse.. The way he actually died.. was that he got shot with a spear by a random nameless soldier during a battle..
