    why in this movie Rus of 9th century looked like mongols of 13th century. In real life military elite of Rus were scandinavian and looks like other vikings. Moreover, Rus is scandinavian word means oarsman. Oarsman on drakkar who became warriors in slavic tribes

      Slavs aren’t Vikings of Nordic. Kievan Rus only had Swedish kings and nobility, Slavs made up their slaves and peasants. Rus only referred to the Swedish Vikings who used oar boats to row and conquer Eastern Europe easily.

    The Rus' received their name from Ruotsi, the Finnish designa- tion for the Swedes in the mid-ninth century, which was derived from the name of the Swedish maritime district in Uppland, Roslagen, and its inhabitants, called Rosakarlar (< roar-a rowing or pulling). Important was that these Vikings were taken Kiev. Kiev was the Capital of " Russia" . Moskva got power 300 years later on, so technically the name of Russia and Russians heritage from a district north of Stockholm, named Roslagen..It is a beautiful area.

      Russia started in Novgorod (by inviting vikins from Sweden/Danmark to rule and be the 'elite army' class), then moved to Kiev (Oleg), then, much later, to Moscow - as capitals. These three cities are the uniting history.
      But it's more complicated due to feudal nature of things and different kingdoms etc.

    This has never happen. Read history. The vikings is a very good movie serie. but not always historical. Björn järnsida (son of Ragnar Lodbrok) was a Swedish king and graverade there. Ivar and Ubbe was invaded Mercia 867-869. And then Ivar disappear from the history. probably stayed in Dublin where he own mark.Sigurd Ormiöga was the king of Norway and Denmark,and brother to Björn, Ivar, Ubbe,Halvdan, Vitsärk.

      Sometimes they think about politics first. If the West helps Ukraine against Russia why should not we add Rus invasion in Viking series? In fact vikings or Normans were enslaving Slavs to have something to trade with Arab merchants in Black Sea. Later, they decided to collect taxes from local population providing ptotection in exchange. This was the foundation of Kiev Rus.

      There were Slavic ' viking style' raids on Scandinavia, but those raids came from Western Slavs who inhabited southern shores of Baltic Sea.
      The most famous of these raids is the sack and destruction of Kuneghala by Pomeranians and Rugians.
      Edit:
      In the 1120s Pomeranian ships from Stettin (present-day Szczecin, Poland), from the southern coast of the Baltic Sea attacked the Danish coast. On 10 August 1135 Duke Ratibor assaulted the Norwegian towns. Konghelle, was captured and burnt to the ground by the forces of prince Ratibor, assisted by a fleet of 550 ships with cavalry on board (each carrying forty-four men and two horses). They laid the town to ruins, killed a large part of the population, and abducted most of the survivors as thralls to Szczecin. Snorri Sturluson, writing a century later, said that Konghelle never completely recovered

      It's similar to Greek mythology except that they didn't have the written records until later on. The existence of Ragnar can only be proven through French and English records so the only way to make a show about them would be creatively. They captured the spirit of the vikings pretty well and that may be better. Without a complete written history from them we only think of them as warriors because that's the side of them those who kept written records ever saw. This is why people think Norwegian people of that time were vikings which is far from true. Vikings were raiders or pirates not a race of people. Not everyone from the north was a viking.

    Rurikards are Varjags mixed with Asians and SarMatians. Rurik is First Varjag to unite the SarMatians . In English Varjags are called Vikings .Varjag comes from the word Var - to Boil ,they were boiling water and making Salt for trading .Tevtons were closely related relatives with Varjags ,Tevtons were also called GerManians Meaning Uper Motherlanders, similar to Sar Matians ,NorthMotherlanders.They were all related.Later they went different way.SarMatians became Bizanth RouMailian Kingsmen,While GerManians became Holy RouMaion Latin Kingsmen .Varjags joined GerManians Kingsmen much later through Vrankish ( French Varjags and GerManians) and Saxon Danelough ( todays England) . By Kingsmen they mean Christen and Crowned .The languages later evolved in different literature forms. Geneticly By DNA they are all similar.

    This episode has never happened in history! It’s a fantasy of movie author. On 8-9 th centuries Kyiv Rus was just began its development and ruses had good relations with Scandinavia people and vikings. Russian is absolutely wrong name of Kyiv Rus people, their name was rusins. Kyiv Rus state captured colonies on the east between rivers Oka and Volga where lived Baltic tribes and Bulgarian and Turk tribes and central Kyiv rulers’ sons established towns and cities on the lands and ruled there, getting Kyiv throne by seniority or struggling for that. From 14-17 centuries on those lands arosed the nations of Ukrainians and Belorussians but Russians is an artificial name which Moscow ruler Peter 1 started. Anyway The most direct descendants of rusins now are Ukrainians. They still live on the land which changed names and now is Ukraine. Russians from Moscovia always and now wanted to get origin from Kyiv Rus but actually Moscovia as a state started from Golden Horde times. This small land got privilege from mongols to collect taxes from other former Kyiv Rus colonies and this made Moscow a central city on the territories, then after Golden Horde crush they started occupation the other lands around, getting more power, Only at the beginning of 18 century Peter 1 started his state name as Russia.

      From Wiki: The Rus', also known as Russes, were a people in early medieval Eastern Europe. The scholarly consensus holds that they were originally Norsemen, mainly originating from present-day Sweden, who settled and ruled along the river-routes between the Baltic and the Black Seas from around the 8th to 11th centuries AD. I guess the Russ are the forefathers of Russians?

    • @WillnichtRein
      @WillnichtRein 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      The Rus are not the Russians. Rus means a mix of Slavic and Germanic people in what is today Ukraine and Belarus. The upper classes were more or less Germanic (norse) but got slavicized soon. Main town was Kyiv, yes that Kyiv from the news. The 'Russians' were a tiny part of this large group, their original name is Muscovites, referring to their main settlement. Later when the Mongols arrived and destroyed the Rus, the Muscovites betrayed the Rus and changed sides to the Mongols. This way they got stronger, and in the 17th century they even took over the name 'Rus'. That's why we mix up these two things today. The real Rus are the Ukrainians, the Belarusians and the long gone principality of Novgorod. (There are much more details to this but not enough place.)

    • @sergsrg8026
      @sergsrg8026 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@WillnichtRein An absolutely politically based lie. If you want to operate with mid-ages terms, there were no "Muscovia", as so called "historians" tells nowadays. This appears only in few polish maps during 15-17 centuries, also due to political reasons of that time. If you want to operate with 7-10 ages names, there we no Rus at all, only different tribes. On territorry of "so called Muscovia", lived 2 tribes: Vyatichi and Golyad, wich are 100% slavic tribes.
      Secondly Rus, as nation, was never meant as mix of Slavic and German people, if you look on maps in wiki for ex, you'll never find any German orgins in these tribes
      Kyiv was one of the most ancient towns of so-called territories, wich later was divided and united many times under name of Rus. With many other ancient towns and centres of slavic culture, Novgorod, Smolensk, Suzdal, Vladimir ect, each of whose was part of big territory united later under one state.
      The Russians were never a tiny part of large group, it was the main ethnic group on these territories.
      And finally don't mix nationality and citizenship. There are about 140 nations live in Russia, and only 1 of them are Russian. This is propably the only truth in your statement, that russians nowadays are minority in russia, and yes, ukrainians and byelorussians, are more common to what is called russian (in ethnic meaning)
